1. You are obviously new. You have also obvious NOT read the rules... Since you can't seem to be able to do what you're supposed to do, let me explain this for you.
The rules are found here: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30059 The FAQ is found here: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30058 The third rule on the list states: Posting Commercial Advertising: In some cases, members join our forums and simply post one thread to advertise their own site/forums. This form of advertising is strictly prohibited on OtakuBoards.com. However, we do allow members to use their signatures to advertise their own personal site (or any non-profit, non-commercial site). The ninth rule states: Unrelated Posts: If members wish to post a Final Fantasy topic, for example, such a topic would need to be posted in the Final Fantasy forum. Messages posted in unrelated forums will be moved/deleted. If done frequently, the member involved will be banned from the site. Banning Rules state: At OtakuBoards.com, we handle the banning of members very carefully. And at all times, staff are required to consider the site's rules in relation to members. If members break rules, they will be warned about doing so more often than not. If rules are broken after a warning by staff, the member will be banned without question. In some cases, OtakuBoards is also faced with "mass spammers", or basically, people who sign up to the boards for the express purpose of creating trouble among members. Such individuals will be banned immediately and without notice.
You have broken the rules, twice none-the-less. This is your warning. Any further experiences and you shall be banned. You asked "what, why?" in your other topic, this is your what and your why. Now, when you open the boards, the first forum you see is "Otaku Information Center" and what does it say right underneath that? Use this unique reference guide to browse over our Forum Rules and Posting FAQ. Remember that our Forum Rules are required reading for all new members. Now I underlined the keyword in there, I'll let you figure out the rest. Now please don't make me waste my time again. Thank you.
2. Whats wrong with it? The fact is coincidentally has an acronym that spells out the S word? If I can type that word on OB, then it's ok... allow me to demonstrate S...uper H...eroes I....n T...raining There ya go.... the poor dead kitty was far worse.... although this one is quite long... but whoever said that was a bad thing.
3.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I remember everything.... Ooooo. I don't consider JOJ punk, personally. I find it odd when people mention it as such. I group them with Marilyn Manson... afterall, Manson did produce some of their early work. Anyway, if you like JOJ you will like Scarling. They basically are the second coming of JOJ, although from what I've heard they're a bit more mellow (they actually use piano for example... lol). Jessicka is the vocalist even.
I never know how to classify bands... it's punk or... eh... rock or... just I dunno how to ever put them into genres... well... let me rephrase then... I'm am such a dork for that type of music :p I don't have a record player either, so I dunno if I could get their music lol. I'll look for it though.
4. I LOVE Jack Off Jill (I'm surprised you remembered, Tony).... hah, didn't expect me to know who they were. I heard them for the first time like a year and half ago from one of my gay punk friends... I really like it. :) lol. I'm such a dork for punk music. I like Gwar's costumes, not so much their music. They are pretty nice people too, despite the image they preset. lol. Not heard of scarling though. So thats almost 2 for 2 there eva unit 00 :p
5. Many people here can't drive, let alone know enough about cars to race them... anyway... I have my car, which I will not race because quite honestly I don't want to break anything on it. My friends however do race. One of them has an early 90s Chevy S-10 which he dropped a 350 into. (For those of you who don't know thats a V8 engine) He did the quater mile at 13 second flat as he best time last I heard, that was a month ago, maybe less. During that run he ended up melting his battery to some of the plastic walls in his engine compartment... it was rather funny to hear about it. He's modified the engine so it's a 355 now, running about 425 HPs. He topped his speed at 112 I think on the Quarter Mile. My best friend is working on a 1990 Chevy Cavilier Z-24 which he plans to super charge the 3.1L V6 in there. He's got a bunch of ideas for the car which I don't know if he'll ever get to. I'll tell ya if he ever gets to them. He's got a majority of the engine taken apart. He's got the valves open. They were just done, so were the heads. My other friend owns a BMW Z-4, the 3.2 version, not the 2.8 or whatever that other engine is they have. The car can book it, but it's heavy like my car, which I'm about to get into. I own a Dodge Stealth R/T (Mitsubishi 3000GT is it's mechanical twin, Mitsubishi actually manufactures the Stealth for Dodge). I do not own the Twin Turbo version of the car, seeing as how that only comes in manual and the manuals for the 3000GTs are pretty crappy, plus the one I bought just got a brand new tranny on it :) The car, stock pulls out 222 HP. The Twin Turbo version pulls out 325 HP. I d not have alot of money to work on it, but I just bought a brand new air intake filter (K&N Cone filters) and plan to do Dual Exhaust within the next month. Eventually I will get some aftermarket turbo kit on the car, since it's almost set up for turbos, the only difference is the air intaking and the intercoolers, etc etc.. I will not put Nitros in it lol. I don't plan to bust the thing apart. The lowerpart of the engine just was redone, and new tranny as I said before. New spoiler was added not that long ago. I'll put a pic below if you want to see what it looks like. My car will be for driving only, no racing. I don't want to bust anything up. No melting parts or batteries like my friend did lol. My car will run great, look great (new paint job, decals, etc are planned), and sound great (Sony Xplod system WILL be installed by Christmas with 2 12" subs and brand new 6 1/2" speakers and all that good stuff.) I want my car to run fine, look fine and sound fine, I don't care how fast I can go on a Quarter mile, maybe if I wanted to try I could... but right now it's not in the plan. I can already whoop past all those Hondas with their loud, annoying lawnmower of an exhaust on the street now with ease. Although I know it's very possible to get the car up to 500 HP... I've seen it before lol. Also, my dad owns a 93 Ford Mustang GT, 5.0 V8.... Now that has some nice umph to it. Very nice car.
6. Well alot of bands may make it mainstream because they are good, but when they get there alot of groups or people change their style in order to move with the mainstream crowd. I've seen tons of bands go from very talented, unique music creators, only to hit mainstream and lose that originality in their work simply so they can remain popular and get more money. It becomes about money and popularity, not music. You think 50 cent sounds the same he does now then he did when he was underground? I don't think so. Alot of people who don't like groups when the go mainstream usually are the ones who followed them when they were indies and prefer that indies originality in their music.
7.
Originally posted by DeathBug I am aware that the Confederate flag has become a "symbol" of the South; that is what I'm protesting. It's not a fitting symbol; of all the things this region could use to represent us, why choose such an ignomonious symbol of a horribly bloody time period?
They have no other symbol to use lol. Are they just gonna take a cowboy hat and throw it up on a flag pole? They only haveone true symbol of the south, and thats it.
8.
Originally posted by Xaru Silverfire Yeah, you must watch DBGT online or something. Also in the ***. version Goku is pronounced "Gokou" Edit: ROFL They have a bleep on the abreviation for Japanesse.
Goku and Gokou are the same pronunciation.... it's just a differnet American style of spelling it. They both sound like GO-KUU
9. Actually in the original Japanese version a guy does his voice, but that doesn't mean much seeing as how Gokou's, Gohan's, and Goten's were all done by the same woman. As far as I know, Furiiza doesn't have a penis or a vagina, there for he's neither. He's an asexual being... he's an alien so who knows... It doesn't really matter.
10. Topics like these are not looked well upon. They are boring, lack intelligent discussion, and we already the favourite band of most of the people here in some band like Linkin Park or something thats famous right now and will be gone in a few weeks. So yeah... try not to make topics like this... :)
11. I think the Confederate flag has come to symbolize the south... You wouldn't see someone from New York wearing it. I live in the south too, I see it all the time... alot of people who wear it DON'T know anything about it.... just some stupid hick, literally.... I saw one once that had the confederate flag and it said "Heritage, NOT Hate" and really those people are the ones who truely understand it's meaning. They like the south. They like it's country style. It's about the southern heritage, not about slavery or receeding from the union or whatever. I've met some really nice southerners who display that flag as a sign of heritage. They also have a big American flag right next to it most of the time. Just because it has a bad background doesn't mean thats what it stands for today. It's like displaying a Spanish flag in Mexico, are they gonna think you're there to kill of their society lol. No... or a British flag in America... etc etc.
12.
Originally posted by Shinmaru Yeah, actually, I have seen Zorro. Didn't really raise my opinion of Mr. Banderas. Something about him just makes me dislike him. I just find him very annoying.
Probably those Spy Kids movies he did. Anyway, saw the movie last night, good stuff, not great but what can you expect. Nothing really lives up to Desperado or El Mariachi.
13.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I don't even understand the point of this argument. Do people know what copyrights are? Do people know the contracts these bands get into that obviously involve the RIAA on some form? Claiming that you own the songs because you bought them is bull****. Yes, you own the CD... fine enough. So if you buy a book, you own it? You can post it wherever the hell you feel like just because you bought that single copy? Apply this to video games, movies, TV shows and anything else with a copyright on them. I understand the argument that the RIAA technically doesn't own the songs themselves. I actually agree with it, and it's most likely the reason why they haven't done their own version of Kazaa and just forgotten about all this crap. However, the idea of throwing around the definition of "ownership" like that is really ridiculous. You're pulling at straws to justify something that obviously is not legal. Whether or not you agree with it is another matter, but that doesn't change its definition or what it is. This is just semantics. And really, I don't how how anyone can compare sharing songs with millions of people to lending a friend a CD. As for the twelve year old, I really think that is most likely blown out of proportion. First of all, they'd most likely get the kid's IP address. I doubt they'd just mail her through the program, as it's probably expected that the email wouldn't be legit as it is. She's 12, she wouldn't have a checking account or credit card to pay the ISP most likely. Her parents would, and thus they are the results that the RIAA would get by searching out this IP and talking to the ISP about it. She just happens to be the one that downloaded the songs, so she's the one mentioned in the news article. I severely doubt it was directly targeted at her as much as it was targeted at the people who pay for the damn connection in general. I download MP3s. Not on a regular basis. When I do, they're imports or bootlegged concerts of bands that don't fall under the RIAA nonsense as it is. Stuff I can't get in general. This isn't me justifying what I do over what anyone else does. It's just me saying that I do this same stuff. I honestly have no real problem with people downloading MP3s in general (despite how it may seem)... as long as they realize what they are getting into. How can they not? Especially with all the disclaimers on these programs and the news right now. Yet people still do it. And when they get caught, they're the victim because the RIAA is evil. EVIL!!! That's what I have a problem with. The fact that despite all this, people still are surprised that they can get in trouble. The fact that people think they'reRobin Hood by stealing from the "rich" and giving to the "poor". The fact that people think they can justify it because you're going against the system in some form. Give me a break. You're not the victim. If anyone, the artists are the main victims at the hands of the RIAA in the first place. You're just kicking them while they're down. Good job. People aren't even giving them the small bit of scraps they can manage to scrounge up from these terrible contracts... because let's face it, we all know no one on this planet is going to buy merchandise and tickets to see every single band whose songs they've downloaded. Reforming the RIAA and figuring out better ways is one thing. I don't think the stuff people are coming up with in here really will help any of it whatsoever. Keep the dream alive, I guess.
I don't think what he was saying about buying a CD is what you were thinking. I think he means that if I bought a CD, I should be able to share it, as if it were aphysically thing I was sharing. Meaning I should be able to share the song, as if I was giving the CD to my friend for him to listen to. Just as with a book... I can buy a book, read it and let my friend borrow it. I'm not claiming it as my own per-say, but I'm just sharing it. It works with anything pretty much. I bought Splinter Cell for the X-Box, when I got done playing it, I let my friend borrow it. I haven't seen the game in ages now. My frien dhas got it, he never payed for it, I'm simply sharing it with him. He doesn't own it, technically I don't own it, Ubisoft does or whoever made the game, but I'm still sharing it with a friend who did not pay for it. SO two costumers out of one buyer. Songs end up being thousands of customers from one buyer. This may sound extreme but what if I had a thousand friends and I let them all borrow my CD? It would be the same concept, yet one is illegal and one is not. I download mp3s too. Most of which the RIAA can't touch. But I don't share my mp3s. I always hear this word "sharing".... Is it about downloading or is it about sharing cause to me, those are two totally different things. I still think ownership applies only to those who make something. The RIAA doesn't MAKE anything, therefor it deosn't OWN anything. Just because they are in contract with th makers doesn't mean S to me. As an artist, and I'm sure you can agree, if i were to draw something, I certainly wouldn't want anyone else claiming owner ship of my peice of art. As for the 12 year old... yeah they probably didn't know she was 12, buth come on. They figured it out really quick... thats when they should back up and say "You're just a kid, you don't know any better" like anyone else does and give her a little warning and all, I'm sure she would get the point, most kids do, it's called learning..... yet they continue their suit and the poor family has to pay 2,000 bucks on their kids behalf. As her mother said , it's ridiculous. ANd if CDs sales are down 30%, but the actual nmber of CD being manufactured is down 35%, doesn't that means sales are up 5%?
14.
Originally posted by Drix D'Zanth Alright, here's the problem I have with you talking about ownership. You have to realise that claiming ownership is fairly vauge. You could claim, "hey, the artist owns his songs." Sorry, as soon as I buy the CD, they are MY songs, when referring to the particular song. I don't care what RIAA says, they can't waltz into my house and take anything I own. That's fine. Don't worry I'm getting to a point. You see, I claim to own something as much as if I were to borrow it. That may sound confusing, but I'll give you an example. I've recently bought a new Frank Sinatra CD. I recently lent said CD to a buddy of mine a few days ago. Right now he, by the literal definition, "owns" the CD. But I own the CD right? Let's say I went onto Kazaa, and uploaded some Sinatra onto it, so I can share some of his music with other people. Do they now "own" the music as much as my friend did? "Well they don't have to give the music BACK! They are STEALING from you and the artists!", Whoa hold the phone. Let's say I lend my CD to a good buddy and decide he can KEEP IT. Am I now breaking some LAW? Sorry, I bought it, no I am not. Am I well aware that possibly some 12 year old kid is downloading music that I purchased and listening to it? Yup, and if I wanted, I could prevent said 12-year old kid from
This is exactly why Kazaa can not be shut down legally. They are simply a "trading ground" for all sorts of giles, not just mp3s. They cannot control what people do with thier files. It's up to the people. Which is why i can see the RIAA doing what they are doing. You know whats funny, and you just helped me to realize this, The whole definition of ownership is the bottom line to this debate. The RIAA says your stealing from THEM. Cause apparently THEY own the songs. But alas, they did not create the songs, thus do they own them? I think not. I believe if someone coutersued the RIAA, they could legally win on this basis. The RIAA does not OWN these songs. They did not create them. The artists did, therefor the artists are the only TRUE owners of the songs, therefor the RIAA cannot legally sue over stealing what is not theirs to begin with. Same with the MPAA. They are just an association associated with movies... they do not create movies, therefor they do not own movies, therefor they cannot sue for stealing what is not theirs.... It's like me filing suit on someone who stole my neighbours car. Hey you can't steal that car which is not mine, I'm sueing. Please... What a judge needs to do in this case is legally define the word "ownership" or "own" in this specific matter. Cause as has been pointed out, there's a bit of confusion within the word and what it actually means. a) Do I own the music because I boughtthe CD, therefor it is mine to do with as my bidding? b) Do the artists own the song? They created it, therefor it is theirs. c) Does the RIAA own the song? Whatever the hell the RIAA does... d) Does the kid across the country own it? He downloaded it to his computer, therefor it is his and no one else has it but him. e) Doe smy neighbour own it? I gave him the CD, therefor the music contained is now his. So many different senarios, so many meanings, yet... still no answer.
15. Wait wait... isn't Star Wars lucas's original idea? Therefor, how can he screw it up? It's his idea, you can't screw up your own idea.
16. I just read that one of the major P2P sharing program companies has agreed to pay the $2,000 fine of the 12 year old girl. I also read that the RIAA will not sue if "you admit to file sharing and promise to never do it again"... I dunno if thats true... it also includes the act of deleting all music files downloaded.... Seems ridiculous if you ask me if this is the case... it's not discuraging me from doing it... also, if you want, I posted a thing about movie sharing in myOtaku. I'd rather not make a topic on it or talk much about it in this thread, so if you want to read it, check it out, comment there if you so deem worthy.
17.
Originally posted by ssjBrolli Just for everyone's information not to sound like a geek I believe his name is pronounced Kakarotto.
Just the japanese pronunciation for the word "kakarot" since the Japanese base their words on spoken sylables, there for ending in a conventional vowel sound. (ie: you pronounce "t" at the end of a word as "to" or "ta" depending on the word)
18. I know Italian, not many peopel can say that, though it's very similar to Spanish, as are many of the Latin based langauges. I know a bit of Italian, enough to form simple sentences and know a buncha words. Even less Japanese, I know a few sentence and a few words. REAL english. American.... and I'm currently learning spanish at work lol.
Originally posted by tattoi nobori There's a FAQ in the Banner/Avatar Request forum for this, it should answer your question.
Not only that, but there's a thread some 5 spaces down on the EXACT SAME THING. Yet you have failed to even look before you have posted, therefor I leave you with the same responce as before: I guess no one reads the Otaku Information Center... It says the FIRST place you should go, yet... you don't go there... I'm so very confused. 22. lol... they made a little girl pay 2,000 dollars... or well her mother.... I wouldn't have given them a cent.... what a bunch of BS....
23. I uhh often wonder what it's like to be a girl, despite the fact I kinda am but aren't... yeah lol. I wouldn't want to be one though. Too much bleeding and mood changes and just too much work.... lol no offense... the only reason I'd be a girl would be to get guys easier lol.
24. the cropping is fine (except on the axe of Spawn), what you need to do is add a little umph to your characters. a) Add a border around the characters... a glow or stroke perhaps. myabe opac them or solorize them or something of the sort rather than just having them just there... b) The background is too bright. As a background you want it to go back in your work.. Meaning if you have a brighter, or more stand out colors for your forground pictures (ie the charcters in this case) you want to have your background darker so your foreground stands out much more and your background goes back alot more. Right now they look very equal and my eye isn't focusing on the 3 characters, it's looking all over the place. c) The font color green NEVER goes with red unless it's Christmas... As an artist you must know what colors go well with one another. green doesn't go with red, Blue doesn't go with red, yellow doesn't go with white, etc etc etc. Not only that, you used a neon green, ugh. lol. The only think my eye is drawn to is that damn font. It's so bright compared to the rest of the work. The best colors for fonts are white or black, depending on the rest of your picture... If you have a predominantly blue picture, you might use a blue font. Then you can always add a border to the font, or some sort of desgin to it, those always end up looking better. There's lots to do to make this more eye appealing. You just gotta mess around a bit more and not just go blah blah done... lol.
25. The only Disney movies I liked were Alladin, Lion King, and Mulan.... and I own two of those soundtracks lol. Disney is just.... blah.... Which is odd for me since they are like the biggest gay rights supporter. I still don't like em.
