It's fair to say you know nothing about music, because you like hip hop. Hip hop isn't even music. It's a form of poem basically. I dunno why people continue to call hip-hop music, Endymion even said "they should start paying attention to the lyrics of their favorite songs instead of just rocking back and forth to the music"... rap is based on lyrics, not music, which makes it a form of poem, and not a genre of music. So to answer your question, no, Rap is not the popular form of music, it's not even music. It's some ugly guy with 9 of his loser friend standing infront of some slutty girls and crappy cars talking really fast with some crappy beats behind it. Sure it's a form of expression and art, but it's not music. No, Music implies talent of sound and instruments, rap incorporates none of that. They rip off from people who HAVE talent and add their own expression on top of it. If you're gonna post a topic, you have to be reasy for disagreement. You can't assume everyone and their mother is gonna agree with you. Not that you even posted this topic, but you get the point. Rap is the only form of "music" to express negativity toward other artists. Anyone who's any type of artist knows thats that form of doing is immature, stupid, and pointless. When I paint, I don't put in "I hate Van Gogh" or "Monet blows goats" in it. If rappers could talka bout something else other than hoes, cars, sex, violence, and their favorite basketball player, they might actually have some talent. But no, they don't for the most part. A few do here and there, and I can respect them but they are outweighed by the majority, which absolutely sucks. ANd just because it may or may not be the most popular form of "music" doesn't mean it's good. After all, this is America we're talking about. The Majority is never right. You can look at history and see that for yourself.

Lets just face the facts here. Rappers have no better talent then to diss people and ryme at the same time. If it's part of a culture or part of some music, then I'm sorry, thats a pretty crappy culture and a pretty crappy style of music. They only do it to gain attention cause they know no one likes rap. People only listen to rap to see who is dissing who. Why would anyone listen to rap for the music lol. Thats like wanting to put myself in a washer machine for 3 hours.

AWWW my cuties Shinji-kun! I love it. lol. I love any pic of Shinji... anyway, it's really good I think. I like it alot :) Thanks for doing it!

Pretty much. It seems to work that way. Although you can't expect to not come up short lol. I dunno if you expect women all over you or something, but things don't work that way. Women feel like they can be friends with guys who are nice. I mean, it's like saying women can't have male friends without being attracted to them and liking them. You just happen to be that friend. Sorry to say.

Lol they had a tourny for this game at Megacon 2003, and I was watching it... and when I was about to leave I said that the game was quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen. And it is. It looks so unbelievably boring and slow... they need to make faster games like Tekken with characters from DBZ if they want anything good. It's horrid. And MK2 didn't have combos :p ANd the KI combo's. the original, not Gold, were the best ever.
Originally posted by SSJ5 Vegeta Sorry about that. If someone ever breaks into my house though it's gonna' be over. My dad's a crazy vietnam veteran, and we have a s***load of guns including an AK-47 w/ armor piercing rounds, AR-15, and an SKS, and a colt .45. My dad said once if anyone ever breaks into our house, they won't be leaving.
And then the family of the guy you kill with sue you for all you're worth and you won't have anything left. It's happened before. Yay for the Justice system.

There's not many break ins in my neighbourhood. It's like a really family liek place here... but not for the rich, like middle class, anyway... yeah... not many breaks in that I know of. A few here and there but usually just the kids.... The only stealing around here is those motherf*ckin kids stealing my tire air cover things. And f-ing with my brother's car one time. Someone broke into my dad's truck and stole baout 5,000 worth of stuff, luckily it wasn't ours lol. It was the governments. But they still touched the most awesome truck ever, for that they will be beaten with a big metal rod.... yeah, so the only vehicles at my house not to be touched are the two with the alarms. I need an alarm on my car, even though I kinda got in an accident two days ago.. heh heh.... anyway.... on to another subject... We've had someone break in once here. They didn't steal anything though. It was some meddling kids. Smoked a cigarette, trashed my brothers room, lol, didn't touch mine. Which leads me to believe it was one of my "friends"....but yeah.... and that was when we were on vacation in Atlanta or something.

Hamsters typically don't have very long lifespans by any means. They aren't very smart either, meaning they'll eat just about anything and go just about anywhere. (they are ingenious when it comes to escaping their cages though, quite possibly the one demise of all the ones I had) I had 3 generations of hamsters in my household, tillt he last one died and we didn't get anymore. One got lost, many have drowned when they escapes the cage and fell in the pool, some just die because hamsters have weak immune systems, yet they cannot transmit any diseases. They aren't cats or dogs that can be around decades at a time. Hamsters have like a 2 year life-span. I dunno how long we had the ones we did. Can't remember. I'm not saying that he didn't mean anything to you, for he obviously did. But you can't put you whole being on something that you know won't be around as long as you live. Dogs, cats, other humans have indefinant life spans, although there is a limit (which kinda contradicts the meaning of indefinant, but yeah). You don't see 60 or 70 year old dogs and cats running aorund, but I think you get the point. It's much more than a rodent. You know he/she will die one day, you just don't know when. Hamsters can be from the time you get themto 2 or 3 years down the road that they could die. Really anything is like that, but you know Hamsters won't live much passed that if they do make it that far. I've had one of my cats here for about 13 years (I had one before that for 12 years). I know she doesn't have much time left. I love her to death and I spend as much time as I can with her, but I understand her time is near and that I will accept it when it happens. I may cry for a day or two, but it won't control my life. The only thing you can do is just remember them. They'll always be with you. I still remember my old cat, Buttercup. She would talk to us everyday when we got home. She wouldn't be hungry or anything, she'd just say hi, how are you. And we'd say hi back lol. It was the cutest thing. It'll be ok though. I still love my cat and I will always remember her. Thats all that really matters.

Art Umm... Not sure what to call it...
Transtic Nerve replied to PiroMunkie's topic in Creative Works
The Hand of God.... I love it! I love the work, not the name I just came up with... it's really... abstract yet not... it's so good... and the hand it sticks out so much, but surrounded by a moving design which takes your focus away from the hand just enough to appreciate the rest of the work. Very good -
I dunno about e-dating, but I deffinantly think the net is an awesome place to meet people who may live close to you. Especially in my case, being gay does limit my resources for finding a partner. It's not stamped on anyone's head so it's a bit hard to determin who is and who isn't gay, so you just can't ask random people (unless of course you like to be rude) So the net is a place where people are most often out and can express what they feel and where you can meet people easily. The only options are the net, clubs, and like groups... thats about it.
Originally posted by dr.septagon If someone doesnt like the mainstream then they go underground and even if you dont match the mainstream characteristics or criteria but you are very talented or good you WILL still get publicity and you WILL eventually become famous! Like some underground rappers (just as an example) have begun as underground but their album has been so good its been pulled to the mainstream. for exmaple: "a hip-hop album comes along that is so powerful that it bursts out of the confines of its own underground perimeter fence and gets pulled towards the mainstream. It happened with Mos Def s debut, it happened with Brand Nubian s In God We Trust and now it s happening with the Cannibal Ox album Cold Vein"- reviewer at Hmv.co.uk
Have you ever seen underground bands become mainstream? They almost always change the style of music in order to have their music sell to the audience. I've seen it happen in dozens and dozens of cases. Usually the indie scene is alot less limited than the mainstream scene. Record labels put alot of limitation on their artists in order to get their albums to seel better so that the record companies can gain the 80% profit.
Originally posted by dr.septagon Music is to listen to! You like, you listen, you dont like, you dont listen. Its not something to have a debate over, like whats the point of discussing pop culture and its effects on us, the differentiation of genres! Thats what I think because I listen to hip hop and I respect its past and history but when I hear ppl saying " we have to save hip hop, from the indusrty and mainstream" it pi**es me off so much! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? make a protest? Talk to a sellout magazine ('the source') to do a simpathetic article on saving hip-hop culture? A magazine which gives Benzino (a crap 40 year old 'raper' who is a rookie adn has the most commercial lyrics from songs like 'rock the party' and 'bootee') 4 adn half mics (rating) on his album out of 5? Then give 4 mics to Electric Circus by Common, which by the way is one of the best ever hip-hop albums Ive heard in my life! :therock: Coincidently Benzino is a part-owner of 'the source' but has "no access to album reviews and rating" (quoting Benzino). :flaming: Sorry, I got a bit carried away hmm.
You don't seem to get it... If I don't like mainstream songs, then I'm not gonna listen to the radio. So where am I to get to hear my songs? Waste $15.00 on one CD for one song I like? Oh wait, the internet... ahh, but the same Mainstream people whom you refer to are taking that away from me as well. So it does matter what gets played on mainstream radio. I'm tired of hearing crappy music on American radio. It's all 90% crap. And it's this way because of the culutral seperation in music. We, as Americans, would produce much better music if cultural difference in music were abolished. Think about it. If rappers didn't have this tie to their culture, they could make a more variety of music. But no, the mainstream wants certain characteristic which then limits what any music maker can produce. It's mostly sex appeal, which is why Christina Aguliera looks like a dirty slut in every single video she does. She has massive amounts of talent but because she's mainstream she has to look like a slut, which takes away from the appeal of her music. It's not about the music anymore, it's about how slutty she looks. Same with rappers. It's not about what they produce anymore, It's about how hot 50 cent looks withouth his shirt on. It's about how much gold they can wear, how big the rims are on their cars. And thus the music is put on hold while their image is up front. This is because of the mainstream cultural seperation. This isn't just the case in American music, but Japan does the same to some extent. Visual Kei bands tend to be alot more visual in appearance and alot of times that draws the audience to them. But as Dir en grey said, who is probably the most famous of visual kei bands at the moment, "if you like us based on our looks and not our music, you are not fans." Music is about that work, music. So why is everything limited and why is it all seperated by the mainstream.

The only thing I don't like about the avatar is the font you used for Intelligence. It's like regular Times New Roman... I never liked that font. Anyway, Azure is like the most popular Italian word... or maybe it's something else as well, but it's Italian I know that for sure. I like 'em all.

Why does everything go back to the Nazi's with you.... it's VERY annoying to see the word Nazi in every post. You seem obsessed. You know damn well no one here is referring to the Nazis and the way they did something, so do us a favor and stop playing with my words. Our police is not anywhere near what it should be. If we uped it a few, it'd be better. I didn't say give police the control of our lives. You assumed that because you're obsessed with the Nazis. Get off the Nazi horse and think now-a-days. Your sarcasm doesn't help in your point either. Our government wouldn't allow the police force to control us either. You of all people seem to doubt the government you've been praising the last.. well ever since you got here. I don't know whta to believe anymore. We simply train better police officers. We hire better police officers. Sure some police abuse thier power, but you act like every one of them do that. Which is simply a total exageration of the truth. There's no need for complete control by the police. lol That's ridiculous. No one is suggesting that. You're just assuming we are. Just because you're to weak without your gun doesn't mean you have to take it out on the rest of us. I live without a gun. The police don't bother me. I see no problem here. You live with a gun, apparently you have some vandeta with the police.... I see a problem with you... I can't control your personal feelings, but that doesn't mean it applies to the masses.
Originally posted by gokents Not to get off subject, but the cause of the samurai's demise was not the development of the gun...
But even you must admit it had a huge huge part in it. Swordsmen simply can't compete with bullets. The demise of samurais in government may have been different but the complete demise of the way of the samurai was due to the fact the sword cannot stand against the gun. It was unfair and many many swordsman died in the process. Why do we have police if our own people can't rely on them to protect us. If Guns/Bullets were outlawed, I think an automatic addition to this would be the increasing in policing in the country. it's almost comon sense that is what would be needed. You can't simply just ban guns... You know damn well it doesn't work that way. There's always something else... a chain reaction of action. Charles, my example wasn't pointless. In todays society or not... I think that if you're going to use the excuse killing animals for nurishment of us, then I can use the same thing to humans. I'm not actually gonna do it, but there's no difference. Just because we're humans doesn't give us any extra rights than animals. Sorry to burst all you people's bubbles. Humans are the most flawed species I've ever come across.
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud I understand your opinions, personally I don't hunt...I couldn't bring myself to shoot an animal. However, if you eat meat, you are a tad bit hypocritical in saying that hunting for food is pointless.
And if I were a vegan this would all make perfect sense? Fine fine, if you want to eat what you kill, so be it. What is your opinion about those who kill for the fun of it. Place the little heads up on their wall. Stuff the animals and display them as tropheys and as proud objects of accomplishments.... Anyway, back to guns. They are the single cause of many deaths in this world. They not only protect, they also kill. The whole thing is a contradiction. I have never been held up by a gun and I will never own one. I don't see a reason for it. The bullet itself was the single cause of the demise of the samurai. The people who the most respected amung all Japanese peoples. One little thing took that all away. What a horrible horrible invention.
Originally posted by Wintermute As has been mentioned, outlawing bullets wouldn't help at all, because criminals don't obey the law. They are noted for it.
Yes, but who's gonna pay that much for 1 bullet. If bullets weren't mass produced the price would go up alot. You'd be paying $10 for a bullet, which you could easily waste if you missed someone/thing. I think it'd work to some extent.
If I shoot an animal, then I eat it, I am providing myself with nurishment. If this is murder, then I guess it is also murder to tear a potato out of the ground, boil it and eat it...I mean both are living, right? I think it is stupid that hunting for food is considered a "no no". Someone has to kill that chicken you ate last night, I think it is kind of noble to kill your own food...
If I like the taste of humans, and I kill and eat them for nurishment, which we would give each other, would that be murder? People choose what they want for dinner. I'm craving some nice human spleen, sounds good eh? Anyway, If animals are bred to be killed (ie: cows, chicken, etc) I tend to have a different feeling for that. I eat meat. I eat chicken. But these weren't things that were out trying to feed their children who were shot. These were born by a butcher, fed by a butcher, and killed by a butcher.... I tend to think differently of them.

lol I dunno what to say about this movie. I've seen it numerous times. It is so well written that it DOESN'T captivate the audience. It got really bad reviews here in the states. People generally didn't like it, but thats because they couldn't comprehend it. It was very in depth and very psychological in meaning. It was quite possibly one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. It was so not what i was expecting. It's definantly NOT another sci-fi movie. Liek I said, very in depth, farther than anyone thought. It was good. It was really good, but I doubt alot of people would see that. It was also really disturbing in more ways than one.
