1. there's no point... It's like having a forum for saying the word "the"... I mean... how ridiculous is that? The object of this forum isn't to try to get peopel to your site, but to try and have some type of intellectual discussion about issues of the varied ideals.
 2.
Originally posted by {SITH} Change Actualy, i know a few politicans who went to Vietnam, Al Gore and John McCain.
Yeah but they weren't politicians when they were fighting. I believe thats the point trying to be made. If politicians feel so strong toward it, they should go do it themselves.
 3.
Originally posted by postbagboy that is'nt a dialect! that's called "slang". i mean, geez.
No... American is a different dialect of English than propor english. Same as Australian is a different dialect than propor English. Hence why it's still called English and not a slang term like "ebonics" is.
 4.
Originally posted by Justin There are clear and obvious reason for this war, lol. The first being that, whether he's acted yet or not, Saddam is a legitimate threat to the world. James' tooth decay analogy is excellent for demonstrating this. The second being they way he treats people. He needs to be removed. There are some who are just too crazy to be here. Especially with any authority. -Justin
I believe thats right, but I believe there's more... something... more indepth, more reason we aren't being told. These are just "cover stories" albeit true ones to justify our want to go to war. With the second point though, to be completely justified, Bush would then have to rid the world of all opressive governments and dictators. Which I don't believe he'll do. Although I could be wrong.
 5. Usually I start off with "How's the penis? Good? Thats nice? Oh graduated? A doctor? you don't say."
 6.
Originally posted by Psyco Nice banner TN, great character choice too. I've NEVER seen you use "LOL"......This is like freaking history... The collage is nice too 10/10.
I say lol all the time... I'm so confused... Oh and yes, ofcourse it's great character choice. It's Sano, I mean you can't get better than that. Thank you Ginny, although I must confess, I have no idea who Auron is.....
 7.
Originally posted by James I dunno, Chris. I really think you're starting to draw a long bow here. All the WWI/II stuff...I don't know if you're terribly confident in your own points sometimes. Earlier today, when speaking to Pressure, I used an analogy in relation to Iraq. I told her about having a sore tooth. If you have a rotten tooth and you simply leave it there because you're afraid to pull it out...what happens? It gets worse. It potentially infects your blood stream. It causes infections in your gum. In the end, if you leave it, you pay ten fold for that decision. But what happens if you pull it out right away? You know that it's rotten and you know what will happen if you leave it. So, if you pull it out immediately, you can get rid of it. Sure -- you'll suffer temporary pain and fear. But once it's over, you will not regret your decision. You will have saved yourself a lot of pain in the future. It may seem like a silly analogy, but I think it's accurate. Whatever we do, we will feel pain. If we leave Iraq as it is and do nothing...we'll pay a massive price in future (when Iraq actually does posess large delivery systems and nuclear weapon technologies). But if we nip this problem in the bud now, we'll suffer short term pain for sure...but that pain will be more short lived and will be substantially less than it might otherwise be.
I am all for the removal of Saddam in one way or another. Actually I guess that rather contradicts what i said earlier... The removal of Saddam... i dunno. I guess i'm not seeing this war as a Saddam related thing. I'm just afraid that because we use relentless force upon an Arab kingdom that other countries may get more mad at the US and it's allies and continue to harbour and train more terrorist which will be an even more potential threat to us. Which I don't want. This may sound naive and stupid but to tell you the truth, I'd rather have Saddam kill his own people before the anger caused by us ousting him to be resulted in another 9.11 attack. It may not end up this way. I also feel that the Bush administration is not being truthful when refering to "why" we are at this war. They say because he's done this and that and not complied here or there. But if thats the case, I 100% expect him to be in North Korea next month or whenever Then he's gonna have to go to Africa and rid them of the tyrany there, and then to the many other countries that are just as bad as Saddam, but I don't think he will do that. I don't think the Bush administration has any plans to do any of those things, besides maybe MAYBE North Korea. That just says to me he only cared about Saddam to either take care of what the former relations of the US have been, or to just get our minds off of the crappy economy and the crappy way the administration has been handling it. I suppose those are my two main reasons for not going to any war. Although I still fell war to be senseless with my own personal feelings. I will never fight for this country. I will never sacrafise my life in battle for anyone. Thats just how I feel. And I can't be for something that goes against how I feel.
 8.
Originally posted by gokents Well for me its a pretty simple thing... As long as Palestinians are willing to kill innocents with the intention of destroying innocent people I can not support their pleas.
The Iraelites also have killed many innocent Palestinians inside Irael. I have seen and heard dozens of reports of Iraeles killing children and adults who were either from Palestine seeking refuge or of Arab decent, whereever they were from. It's not just the Palestinians killing the innocent people,a lthough I'm sure they've killed many more.
 9. Yes, Kami essentially means God, while Sama is just a suffix given to it pretainign to the meaning "master" or someone of higher authority than you.
 10.
Originally posted by Endymion I can see why they've been battling for so long, what with Islam and Judaism being completely different religions and all. I mean, it's not like Islam was derived(sp?) from Judaism or anything. That would involve something ludicrous, like the Torah and Quar'ran sharing similar books in their holy texts. Wait a minute... Yeah, so I don't support either side. I think they're both being incredible petty and (dare I say) stupid. However, I don't see a simple solution. There won't be peace until there are two independant countries named Palestine and Israel, and both contain the city of Jerusalem (but not sharing the same city). And why? Because (and I'm using a generalization, here) both sides are blind.
Lol I was about to say... hehe yeah religious people tend to overlookt he fact that the three major monothiestic religions are almost one in the same being related so close. they all came from one man, Abraham. Who had two sons (who's names I have forgoten although I know they I should know them lol). One side eventually led to Jesus Christ, the other to Muhhammed. I wish I had a huge hand that said "GOD" or in this case "Yahwey/Allah" in big letters on it so I could just SLAP THE HELL out of both those countries.
 11. try to keep requested banners in the request forum.
 12. Well if they all can't have it then nobody needs to have it. After all it's just causing more bad thigns to happen. Seems rather ridiculous... fighting over some little hill, no matter what meaning it has. I guess peopel are too blinded by faith to see what truely is.
 13.
Originally posted by Primus I don't understand how anyone can be anti-war. I support the killing of everyone on Saddam's side. I do feel sorrow for the innocent people, but hell Iraq needs to go down.
Because we obviously think a different way. Ofcourse you're not gonna understand. I don't understand how people can be straight... it's just how you think, don't make it sound like you're belittling us.
You're wrong
Please explain yourself further in the future. That is considered SPAM.
For the People not supporting it, they didn't support stepping in when Hitler was invading either. And this applies directly to England too. France and Russia are against it because they have cushy oil deals with it, and Germany has been making money off of Iraq by selling them weapons and building them bunkers to withstand bombs.
They didn't step in because they had JUST gotten out of WWI some 25 years earlier. Why would anyone want to jump right into another war that could go senselessly out of control like WWI did and end up killing Millions more, although WWII did end up killing millions more, however it wasn't as senseless as WWI. France has alot of debt to collect from Iraq. Since WWII, when Iraq was on our side might I add, and they feel that they may not get that money back if Saddam is removed from power. They probably won't. Then again, the US never got their 12 Billion from WWI but that ended up causing the Great Depression in some way or another. It's all a big giant circle and I suppose something had to be done. However a full out war... I dunno if thats ever really the answer... it may be the quick easy way, but thats what America is about eh? Quick and easy.
 14. I don't support either side. The only reason the state or Irael exists is because WE made it after WWII. I just say they should split Jerusalem up into three part, like they did Berlin (although only 2), so that the Jews can have what they want, the Muslims can have what they want, and the Christians can have what they want. Senseless fighting over the "holy land" is dumb.
 15. My birthday on Saturday is the first sign of Spring :)
 16.
Originally posted by Sara I could hardly believe it when I saw this banner with your posts. Transtic...Anime banner....wha?
Lol yes. In the old days I did make anime banners. Ironically enough, my best ones were that of Kenshin. WHich i also consider my favorite anime.
Whoa...*blinks many times* That's a collage banner that actually WORKS. *smirks happily* Very nice.
I find it to be the use of color. The colors blend in well with each other in each picture and are opac enough to work well with the background. I wanted the background to be noticable as different pictures but to also blend in with each other. I think I did a good job at that.
 17.
Originally posted by liamc2 [BYou see the funny thing is we won't know all the facts about this war until 50 years have passed and the 'secret' documents have been brout out from the code of secrecy vault.
Oh absolutely! I really don't take what the press says seriously till it's been proven by higher sources. But I mean, in WWI, Americans thought we were the ones who had won the war for our allies, but it was not so as we learned we probably were the ones responsible for prolonging the war that ended up killing as many people as it did. In WWII, we never knew about the Atlantic Charter till the late 1970's. In Vietnam, we all thought we were winning the thing, and we ended up "losing" and leaving with a bunch of dead people and nothing to show for it. Who knows though. You can't take anything as serious and truthful till you see it yourself or till it's over.
 18.
Originally posted by postbagboy yes, but, y'see. you Americans have to spell everything differently, all because you decided to not be under the British Crown does'nt mean it THAT far. like, mom, color, favorite. it's really spelt mum, colour, favourite.
American is a different dialect of English. I don't call what Americans speak English, I call it American. Also, if you notice, I do tend to spell in English. Everytime I make refrence to my mother, I always type mum. It makes my friends go crazy. You'll notice to I'll type words with "ou" in them as well. You can't really expect a different dialect to be spelled the same. The Australians have done the same thing. They were once British, but they changed some of their language. My ex-boyfriend was from England so I got used to his accent, I have a pretty good one myself, and I know the difference between American and English. As well as some Auatralian. Many Americans can't pick out the differences between Aussie and English, but I tend to be pretty accurate. Anyway, I don't see what the language has to do with my post at all... or this topic.
 19. This is an older creation that I'm now using. Cause I think Sano is just so damn cute ::pinches cheaks:: and the fact I know everyone loves him hehehe. ::cough DUB VOICE SUCKS cough:: but yeah. It is one I'm still very proud of dealing with an anime character and not design or whatnot.
 20. The first attack last night at what 9:45 EST or something was totally a right away sort of thing. Intellegence had JUST got to America that high Iraqi leaders, possibly including Saddam, were in this building, so they took the opportunity to take it out while they could. So started the attacks.

 22.
Originally posted by {SITH} Change On the War note, why not nuke them to spare American lives?
Using the nuke, or actually it wouldn't be a nuclear weapon for us. We'd probably use a hydrogen or a carbon bomb, for they do a hell of alot more damage to the land and less as far as radiation goes, but using one of those type of weapons is almost out of the question. No one wants to use a nuke, it's stupid to use them. Plus we don't want to destroy their cities or their people will one little swoop... we want to rid the country of Saddam and his government and replace it with a new one, we can't replace what we've blown to smitherines. The "war" may be over fast but this campaign will never end. Iraq will be a word you'll be hearing for years to come. As far as jokign abotu the war, i think it's needed to put a lighter face on something so horrid. Thats why you'll see Conan and Jay Leno making fun of it. John Stewart will as well... people don't like negativity about something and prefer to see somethings in a lighter way, and what better than to joke about it. South Park takes real life issues and makes them into jokes to make the issue aware but to do it in a lighter, happier less negative way.
 23.
Originally posted by Lalaith Ril Honestly I thought that was implyed in the Lucitania part of it....
I undertand what you are saying and where I should have been more clear. It was the Unrestricted Submarine Warfare that was continued after the Germans said they'd stop (and they did stop for a few months, just after Wilson was reelected they started again) that got us in the war. The Lucitania was just a casualty of that USW that continued. I should have made it more clear, and you can't help it really because many history books write it in as the reason, esspecially high school ones. Gokents, the majority of people who are anti-war don't go to protests. Many of them are like me, I don't participate in the peace protests or whatever they are called. They call in radio shows or talk to people online about what they believe, not stand outside protesting. I can't speak for those people. If there is hatred for the soldiers, than well I can't help how they feel, or even why the feel that way. Maybe they precieve it as "if you're going to fight, then you are obviously for the war, thus we hate you" or something like that. I'm not. I don't dislike the soldiers at all. I think what they are doing is brave and very strong, something I don't plan on doing anytime. I dislike how the administration is hadling it. And the fact i dislike war in all cases.
 24.
Originally posted by Lalaith Ril Examples A) Lucitania B) Pearl Harbor Ironically these two are what got America involved in the World Wars. Other wise I doubt that they would've had so much support!
I don't mean to jump off topic here, but thats not intirely true. The Pearl Harbour one is obviously, for it's been stated by FDR himself. But the Lucitania, contrary to belief, was not the reason we got into WWI. That would be credit to Unrestricted Submarine Warfare by the Germans. Thats what sank the Lucitania, and tons of other ships delivering supplies to Britian and France. It wasn't the Lucitania itself, it was the act of continual Unrestricted Submarine Warfare after the Germans had stated they would stop. Ironically, it happened right after Wilson was reelected (on the platform of keeping us out of the war none-the-less)
 25.
Originally posted by Elite A few points: America didn't join because of the Communists. In fact, the Soviet Union wasn't a member until a few years before WW2. The reason America didn't join was because they weren't interested in Europe's affairs and were isolationist at the time. Also, Wilson's fourteen point plan was never adhered to. Most of it was dismissed as impossible and idealistic. I agree with your "UN looking good" point though, that's all the UN seems to be doing recently.
Russia may not have been part of the League, but they were still communist as of 1917 when the Boslviks took over int he revolution. The threat was still there, in europe specifically. The US fears communism would spread like wildfire, and then ultimately control the League, and then over run America, had it been part of it. Yes I know, hence what I said, the League of Nations was the only one of the 14 points to make it anywhere. And that itself, is idealistic and was ultimately impossible to do what it was intended to do.
Originally posted by gokents anti-war protestors generally mistreat and show open hate for the soldeirs in the war
Thats a 60's mentality. That is not going on today in mass number like you suggest. You cannot generalize based on a few cases. Thats like me saying "White people generally hate black people" because I saw 5 KKK members speaking to people. I have not heard one story of anyone showing open hate or mistreating any soldier in todays war.
