1. The UN is a joke. Like the League of Nations. It hasn't, won't, and never will accomplish anything. It's like a spoiler on a Toyota Camry, it's only for the looks. Sure the idea is great, but it simply won't work, especially when we disregard everything they say. As you said, whats the point in it even existing. None. It was Wilson's idea for the League of Nations, which we didn't join because we were afraid of the commies, and FDR's idea for the UN, which we did join just to say we're cool. The league of Nations didn't do anything, even though that was the only of Wilson's 14 points we kept, and it was a complete waste of time. The UN is almost the same way. It's been around longer, but thats about it. As with what we've seen recently, the UN serves no purpose but to look good it seems. Maybe a few influencial things here and there, but obviously, we Americans are too good and right for them.
 2. I still find war to be sense, immature, and full of stupidity. Any violence is like that. Just shows the peopel involved are to stupid to settle things by compromise and talks. I truely don't think the US is any better than Iraq for using force to get rid of who they think is a threat. If they do this I will expect every single dictator killing his people or others to be over thrown, but that won't happen, so this is just silly non-sense to me. But thats just me.
 3.
Originally posted by gokents Well actually I believe the comparison is very realistic being that saddam openly admires stalin and has an entire library dedicated to literature based around the man. Saddam's practices are based around the idea of stalins govermental structure... (the white socks... I know you know what that is right?) Also, hitler believes in anti-semitism. Both were jailed as young men. Both were frustrated authors. Saddam is a fascist. Hitler was a fascist. Fascism- a totalitarian government system led by a dictator and emphasizing aggressive nationalism, militarism, and often racism.
I was refering to more not the government affiliation of the 3, but that of what horrid costs they provided. Hitler killed 4 million people. With the wars Saddam has been in and the people he's killed, it still hasn't reached near that number. I understand that he is a bad person, but... I don't think you could truely compare him to the mad man that was Hitler.
What if's are always a bad point to bring up.
It's not really a what if. We have 3,000 bombs ready to drop on Iraq. IF, whihc is the only IF here, we do, innocent people WILL be killed.
However, are you using the question of civilian death to justify an anti-war opinion, or are you asking because you believe I would honestly not care about those people? I believe that the biggest point you failed to make with your post was the idea of continuing civilian casualties...
I was just curious, based on what you stated, your opinion on the difference between innocent people, the same being killed by Saddam, the reason you stated you wanted him removed for, killed by the American bombings or Saddam's guns. They are dead still no matter which way you look at it.
However, would you choose Saddams continued control and torture of the Iraqi people over the POSSIBLE short term sacrifice for the greater good.
I'd rather not either, but it seems people will die regardless. I'd rather not see the continued death of people, but I truely don't think it's justified by killing any less.
With a one year time span, Saddam would inflict 2,000 civilian casualties. Over that same period of time, the United states would inflict the same number of civilian casualties in a war of liberation. (specifically removing saddam and replacing that regime with a democratic government) Which would you preffer?
Neither. I think if the US is going to liberate to "save" the people of Iraq, it should be in their best intrest to try to avoid the death of ANY innocent civilian. Which means it should be their first priority to make sure every innocent person in Iraq is safe. Unless ofcourse the only reason for going after Saddam is to get Saddam.... What is the reason. To get Saddam, or to save the people. They are not one in the same. While it may seem like it, the action to do one or the other is totally different.
Personally I believe you are not protesting this action based on your love of humanity. (which I actually do believe you have) But I do believe you are protesting this out of hatred for the bush administration.
I would feel the same if it was anyone other administration, democrat, republican, whatever. I think that Saddam does indeed need to be removed. But I think there are better way to do it then a full fledged war with 3,000 bombs dropping on the cities killing innocent people.
Does that answer your question?
I was asking your opinion, not really asking a questions. So yes it does. Thank you. PS: The Nazi party was indeed one of fassiscm. Fassism itself contains elements of socialism. It contains democracy in it as well... but thats not the question.
 4.
Originally posted by gokents I can not seperate emotions and opinions when we are talking about a man who has killed hundreds of thousands of people. Literally. I have always had a problem with these topics because of my own personal connections to the sacrifices of people who are under-appreciated and mistreated for their efforts to liberate and defend the innocents of the world... all to end up with a destiny that is just as bad as the oppressed and slaughtered innocent people they are sent to defend. When we take actions to rid the world of people like saddam, I can not stand back and allow comments of anti-liberation take presidence over the morally justified removal of leaders such as pol pot, saddam, stalin, hitler, slovadon milosavich or any other person who has taken the lives of innocent people without a greater justified cause. Genocide and slaughter are not the goals of Coalalition efforts in places like iraq. However, the goals of people like saddam are nothing short of absolute power of the innocent, and the slaughter of all who oppose him. Once again, I apoligize for my loss of personal control, and no exscues will justify those remarks made... Yet I can not stress enough the amount of pain it inflicts on me to see people oppose the efforts of the free world to rid this planet of oppression and murder.
I am curious to know your opinion. If we drop 3,000 bombs on Iraq and kill innocent Iraqi civilians (the same ones Saddam is killing), is that not the same? Because that's what will happen if we drop our projected amount of bombs. Or do they become that large number of the "Casualties of War" that we love to ignore. PS: comparing Saddam to Hitler is hardly a comparison. Or Stalin for that matter.
 5.
Originally posted by The trainer Ok....i know this is off topic but why post the answer with the question? IMHO You should have it like: How many villains are in DB? Then someone else posts the answer. If they are right, then they post the next question? (don't answer that, cause i won't be able to tell you if it's right or not).
That creates alot of posts by one person. If one person wants to post a quiz it has to be this way. And it has to be with answers because we have so many people create quizes and have the wrong answers. Then this huge debate come and the quiz is lost.
 6. Well yeah, They'll be done with the series, no need to keep it on. They did it with all the others.
 7.
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud I bought the first two DVD's (or at least the first part of the original series, I think it is original anyways), but I was never sure where to continue on from there. The episodes ended with Kenshin's lover
(who had original intentions of killing Kenshin b/c he had killed her husband) sacrificing herself for Kenshin
Could anybody familiar with the series tell me where to go from here. From the DVD backs that I have read it seems that the story line changes dramatically.
You got the OAV. The first one at least. Which is technically a prequel to the story of Kenshin. The TV series is a different animation and takes place about 20-30 years after that (Kenshin being 16 at the time he was a Hitokiri and when he killed Tomoe) The second OAV, Seisohen, is a sequel sort of (It'll be released on DVD soon). It actually takes place in between the series after the Shishio Arc and before that religious one, which was never in the manga actually. The second OAV is the Revenge Arc which for some ridiculous reason wasn't animated int he original series.
I just got one thing to ask about the dub version. Does Kenshin repeat himself in the original like he does in the Dub?
NO! He doesn't, it's so annoying to hear that from him. Ugh. They usually do that when they run out of sentence and still have Kenshin moving his mouth. It's cheap and stupid. The series is really good till right after the ShiShio Arc, and then you'll just get bored with the series. It's like they ran out of ideas lol. That and like I said, that religious saga wasn't in the original Manga. You'll love it up to then guaranteed. I wonder if they plan to play all 95 episodes in a row or make us wait a year for 6 episodes like DBZ....
 8. Luck is only what you make of it.
 9.
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud The Japanese (original) versions were quite intriguing, although I thought of them more as a sci-fi suspense thriller then a horror movie.
I think they are supposed to be like that. In the book it's more sci-fi and if you see Ring 0: Birthday, it's all sci-fi like that too. Rasen is kinda that way as well.
In Rasen, there's a virus that is found in all the bodies 7 parts Small Pox, 3 parts DNA, Sadako's DNA. It's more a medical view point. It also becomes apparent that Ryuji becomes partners with Sadako, and in fact he is the person you see with the towel over his head in the video pointing (the guy you see in the picture of whats her face in Ring 2) Also why i think he's down in the well with her at the end of Ring 2. In Ring 0: Birthday, Sakado splits into two people, one evil, one good, and then at the end combines back into what you see in the Ring and Ring 2.
10. Would you like what I currently collect or what I have collected in the past? Currently collect: Movies/Mp3s - I have well over 150 movies. Just started collecting them kinda. Mp3s... Over 3,000. probably alot more. 3,000 was a year ago so yeah. Actually let me get an exact count. 4,929 mp3s... give or take a few. Past collections: X-Men/Marvel figures. Star Wars toys (figures, micromachines, models, etc etc), Hot Wheels cars, Legos.
 11. Can you spell better when you're drunk?
 12. I just got done watching The Ring 2. I watched the Ring two days ago, then the American version yesterday, then Ring 2 today. I did in fact notice that certain elements from Ring 2 were used in the American version of The Ring. As far as the movies go, both were very good. I like the last minute sequence of events in the Ring, but not so much in The Ring 2, which was more "figure out" and not "try to save yourself"... sort of thing I dunno. The Ring 2 was much more complicated than it's predesessor. Much more in depth as well I believe. Straying upon not the super natural, but what lies within your own self.
I'm still not getting what was meant when Mai and Yoichi were climbing up the well and Sadako comes climbing after her and says soemthing like "why were you the only one saved" or something
... I don't remember... i didn't get it. edit: I do now. I just read up on the meaning and it makes sense lol Anyway for those who are interested. There are 3 sequels to The Ring. Ring - released in 1998. The first book in the series. Rasen - the sequel to Ring released the same time as Ring in order to try to get more profit. Figuring if people saw the ring, they'd want to see Rasen as well. It didn't work very well. I've yet to find a copy of Rasen. The second book int he series. Rasen was also made into a TV series. Ring 2 - released in 2000. An original movie, loosely based on the third book in the series Loop. Ring 0: Birthday - (technically a prequel, seeing as how it takes place before the Ring story) released in 2000 at the same time as 2. Based on a short story, from the 4th book Birthday, called Lemonheart. Ring Virus - Korean/Japanese remake of Ring released in 2000. It's just liek the Ring but incompasses some more aspects of the novel. The Ring - American remake of the film released in 2002. Different view on things but done with great care. This is a good movie and in terms, much scarier if you like make up and decomposed corpses. The Ring 2 - American Version. Yet to be released (October 2004 is the projected release date - 2 year aniversary) It is supposedly going to be a totally new story line. If the original director, Verbinski, does not return for it's sequel, directors Steven Spielberg, Wes Craven and Same mendes have been taken into consideration. --------------------------------- You would be completely blown away by the contect in the books and the story behind everything related to them. It's really quite amazing.... quite odd also that the American version doesn't pay tribute to such things. While it did do a better job portraying the images from the video as images from Sadako's past, it failed to provide the correct images or the correct story.
 13. it may be a IP mix up. Do you have dial up or something that frequently changes your IP? Other than that, it may just be a simple PHP error. They seems to happen as with everything.
 14. Shouldn't the last question be "In your opinion, what is the general behavior of MEN" not women... because... yeah... like I stated before... sexist.... Are you male or female? I have a penis. How long has your longest relationship lasted? 9 months on and off once... What was the worst ending to a relationship you have been in? Been cheated on. What is the one thing you hope to find in your perfect mate? love what is your pet peve about the people you date? stupidity, ignorance. Have you ever used a pick up line? God no, how ridiculous. -if so, did it work? lol, if pick up lines worked, they wouldn't be made fun of all the time. Have you ever had a pick up line used on you? not in a non-joke context -if so, did it work? again, refer to questions 6-9 What do you think women want? It all depends on the woman. Some want sex, some want love, some want kids, some want money, some want you to shut the hell up, some want to kill people, some want to watch a movie, some want to kick you in the balls, some want to eat your liver. What is the general behaivor of women? Around me? Hell they flirt with me more than anything. It makes the straight guys reallly jealous. I love it. We talk about things that the majorty of straight men are too scared to talk about. And we certainly don't make asses out of ourselves in the process. Many women are just curious I've come to believe. And when their "man" get nervous when she asks questions or poses a odd, different type of question and man tends to stay away from, women get angry. If you could talk to a woman you'd have a better, healthy relationship. She probably wouldn't make fun of you to her friends or hit you upside the head either. Women aren't indirect with their feelings, and if they are, they usually can't help it. If you'd pay more attnetion to them you'd know how to deal with it better. I know many guys are afraid even to talk about the p-word. And no I'm not refering to ***** you sicko immature losers. PERIOD. You know how many guys don't know the usual time a month for it? If you did, you'd be ready to deal with it. I'm not saying it's guy's fault that women have sparatic mood changes, I'm just saying that it'd be a lot better if men would pay better attention to their women and not shrug it off as "oh here she goes again" type of thing... you don't gain any points that way.
 15.
Originally posted by Angelus Guys only What do you think women want? In your opinion, what is the general behavior of women? Girls only What do men want? In your opinon, what is the general behavior of women?
If those aren't the most sexist questions I've ever read...
 16.
Originally posted by Syk3 I suppose that you just got used to the subbed version, TN? >.< It's just that the series looks so good, but I want to be able to watch it in my language.
Actually, when i first saw Kenshin I watche the first episode in Japanese. Then i saw clips from the next few here and there. I heard Sano's seiyuu and was absolutely blown away by the emotion the guy put into his work. It's really absolutely amazing if you get a chance to hear him. He's got that evil, but I'm your friend type of voice... It was just too good.... then I saw clips from the English dub... That emotion Sano's seiyuu put into his character was not present int he dub version. It just seems very plain and unwilling. I was really diappointed. I guess I see it two different ways. In Japan the anime market is so huge peopel are usually professional voice actors, while here... you don't see that. Hence why we use actual actors to do voice overs many times. Billy Crystal and John Goodman for Monsters Inc for example. I guess since people live professionally on voice acting in Japan, they put more heart and effort into their work, while here, unless you hire a really good and well known actor, you're probably not going to get that type of devotion. AT least not when the Kenshin dub was originally done. I suppose if they re-dubbed it now, they would get something better. They shoul dhave tried harder to get a voice that somewhat resembled Sano's.
 17. Why in your sane mind would you waste the money to see a movie about a guy and rats? You can go to New York and see it in real life... or has anyone ever heard of the Rat King from Ninja Turtles... I wonder where they got the idea...
 18.
Originally posted by Schratn9 Three words.......Worst Movie EVER!
You've obviously never seen Daredevil or Carlito's Way (which is the only movie I've ever walked out of) Anyway, I think the Friday the 13th movies lost their originality after the second one was made. when you drag on a movie series so long it just is the same thing over and over. Although it does put some light as to how Jason works (why he doesn't die, etc etc) But other than that, it's an ok movie. If you've seen the others it won't be scary at all. I did like how they made light of the previous movies by making fun of the 80's girls in the sleeping bags. That made me laugh. I'd much rather watch the Halloween series. Which never seem to lose appeal to me...
 19. It's a British show if I'm not mistaken. I haven't seen it yet, I did see a few previews and what-not for it though while watching Graham Norton or Absolutely Fabulous or some show of the sort on BBC America, which is where you can find Coupling. At least I think you can... I dunno if they show it anymore. They are doing a Father Ted marathon today!
 20.
Originally posted by Syk3 but the text does need some work. It doesn't feel...theOtaku, although it does look good on it's own.
I dunno about oyu, but it gives me a headache lol. But thats about the only thing I don't like about that banner.
 21. i downloaded it last night, so I'll probably watch it sometime today, which I will post what I think about it then.
 22. Err anythign with Steve Martin of all people acting in a comedy as a black person is not something I will be seeing.... ever... My parents saw it... i was ashamed...
 23.
Originally posted by L.A. Rod. P.S.- French Fries were originated in Belgium.
Yes. I established that earlier... I gave a brief history lesson on the French Fry.... which seems rather dumb now that I think about it. lol.
 24.
Originally posted by gouf uhh how about not because there are some "mecha robots" that i wish were never invented and then theres Gundam wich desveres it own fourm
Gundam deserves to be beaten with a stick... what a horrible bunch of no-good shows they are... Anyway, you can make a TF thread in the Movies/Music/TV forum. Or hell, even in the anime forum because the original TFs, with the exception only of the American Transformers, are animes from Japan. Both have been done already in both forums. Just follow suit.
 25. It's not the mans job to decide what the girl should do or who she should go out with. (unless ofcourse you live in like Ancient China, which I'm pretty sure you don't) You're young, chances are it won't matter anyway.
