Mass Effect

I am looking forward to the multiplayer option, since it does seem to have a lot of potential. I don't know if you could really be very competitive, but certainly a horde mode that makes people rally together could be great. It would seem a bit too complex to allow every race to be every class, so I am not sure if they are really gonna do that. (I would really have a hard time believing in a Quarian biotic anyway) I dunno how many more games this will sell, because I am definitely getting it for Shepard's campaign. I have heard rumors of a few modes that may make this game stand out. I heard that solo mode may have three separate versions: Story, RPG, and Action. This info comes from the leaked Beta yesterday. I have read about it and it seems like these aren't gonna effect the gameplay much. Action mode seems to pick the dialogue for you, Story is easy mode, where the combat and game mechancs are simple. RPG makes you play with all the combat settings, as well as choose all the dialogue. Action mode may be nice for the people who don't want to read... but I doubt anyone will buy Mass Effect just for the story... you are gonna want to feel like you are winning the war against the Reapers, not a bunch of paraplegic Husks.
  3.
Also fired up Batman: Arkham City, and while I think it's miles high above Arkham Asylum (We already know I didn't care much for that game), it does leave you hanging a bit. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind not being held by the hand but it can seem a bit overwhelming because it don't really give you much on what to do. There are quite a few side missions I have on the map and I'm like where do I go first? Other than that I like what I'm seeing with Arkham City so far.
For sure, if you actually want to put time into that game there are more collectables than you can ever imagine, like the 400+ Riddler trophy things. speaking of Batman... I have been playing DC Universe Online. I mostly got it because my friends were all playing it, and it is FREE! I don't have any experiance with MMORPGs prior to this one, however it does seem like the leveling up and powers are a bit limited. I am sure having all these people play together is taxing, but even the stats don't seem to matter. What is the point of leveling up your strength if a character with half the stats can just hit you two more times? There is also a really annoying armor destruction element that forces you to stop what you are doing and head all the way back to your base and find a shop. You don't need to do this often, but when you do its a pain. Its not all bad though. The character customizer is pretty good, though you only get to choose three colors (that does make sense though) and the body types are a bit limited (you will never see a fat super girl and that kinda makes me sad.) Another thing you can customize is how they travel. you can choose flight, super speed, and acrobatics. All of these are really fun, and with the giant cities, this is important. Another good aspect is the universe in general... they pretty much did everything right, including having all the characters, and the difference between cities. The missions in this game typically involve you killing minor bad or good guys, but they leave the actual hero's for boss battles. They do spruce it up with a few random objectives that include picking up junk lying on the ground, which isn't interesting, but it can be challenging when you are in the middle of a fire fight. Anyways, there is a lot to this game, and I am just starting... but if you have the hard drive space I would suggest sticking through the three hour download (unlike Boo) because you might actually like it, and its FREE!
  4.
The date for the return of my stuff has been set for 9 months. *facepalm*
This is just craaazy. 9 months without stuff is just asking for trouble... you are probably gonna turn to drugs, violence and sex (not necessarily in that order) out of sheer boredom!

    Art Theft

Well, my artwork sucks, but I did have a viral video that I made a while ago get reposted under another name. I put four days of work into it, and I was pretty proud of my work, so I wasn't happy by any means. When I think about it though, I was kinda stealing the song that was playing in my video was stolen by me, so I could be just as guilty. I gave the band all the credit for the song, but I certainly didn't ask them for permission. I guess I am of the opinion that you shouldn't take other peoples stuff, but if you post online, don't expect people to do the same for you. If you are really serious about protecting your work, you pretty much need a patent. I think it is worth the risk though because if I post anything online, I want to share.
  6. I am wondering if 7:30 am is too early for chocolate fudge and peanut-butter ice cream.... Really I am just eating because I am bored. I can't sleep because my friend decided to crash at my house, and he snagged my warm blanket, as well as the guest blankets... -_- My options are go to sleep in clothes and a sweater, or stay up and enjoy ice cream.
  7. Well, I just finished Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Honestly I was let down, because whenever I watched a pirates sequal in the past, I assumed it was bad, but it turned out to be fairly decent in my opinion. This time was different. The story really feels strung together, and the whole feel of the movie was different. It might be because almost all the cast left, but the meme humor present throughout the series is gone completely, and even though only three characters (four if you count the monkey) returned in this one, they really only developed a handful of new ones, and they all pretty much suck. My biggest gripe is the lack of cool pirate battles. I may have been spoiled from before, but these ones just seem lack luster by comparison. Now I am watching an anime called Heroic Age since I have been warned off of Chaos;Head. So far I am liking the feel of the world, and you really can't go wrong with Heracles' stories... and the Dub isn't terrible. I am happy I switched already.

  9.
The teacher at the religious ed. thing I was going to sent a letter home saying that I didn't have enough faith and I was asking too many questions. I am kicked out of the class.
I am sorry you got grounded, but you gotta know how to act around religious fanatics. Asking questions is fine when you are with people that allow you to discuss religion openly, but you really don't need to badger your religion teacher for answers... especially since most questions on religion can't be answered by anyone currently living with any hard evidence. Anyways, what is done is done, and hopefully your parents will release the punishment quickly... you could always try to convince them you have faith now... who knows... it might work.
  10. I think the judge went too far. I have experienced far worse, and I am sure many other people here have too, but that's no excuse. He stated later that he just lost his temper, but when is that a ever a valid justification? I find it strange that people are allowed to physically discipline in that method at all since this would be assault if she wasn't a dependent. This guy is also a judge, so I figure he would be able to see the punishment didn't fit the crime. If he were sentencing a person who was convicted of thievery, he might make them pay money or lock them away in a room for a while, but he certainly wouldn't smack them and throw them around... so why does he go above the law on his own daughter? Personally I think if this is considered a crime, he should face the maximum sentence because he is a judge, and therefore should be aware of the rules.
  11.
Why is it always the cute ones? :(
Maybe its because you like the bad boys? It seems like I found another great mystery. I can't seem to figure out why whenever I need double A batteries I only have triple A's and whenever I need triple A's the situation is reversed. All I need is one lousy battery but I am gonna have to go to the store to pick it up.
  12. Did you Tell Kei when Sakura no-showed?
  13. I can't look at your profile... its too far away.

  14. I definitely dislike Takumi, but really I hate seeing that kind of character because he is everything I try not to be. The fact that the character exists in the anime kinda removes me from the world, since it seems so ridiculous. I know that there is a fantasy aspect to the show, but I figured the main character wouldn't be the this unrealistic. It saddens me to hear that the plot is a flop since it is the only thing keeping me going.
  15. Its a bit silly I guess, but its hard to find words that rhyme with up.

  16. I am now watching a strange series called Chaos;Head. So far, I am not crazy about it, but the plot is just good enough for me to push forward. The main character seems like the kinda anime character that I hate... The Otaku guy that I am supposed to relate to somehow. He is a big fan of anime and video games... but that somehow turns into him having conversations with his favorite female character who doesn't do much but hang on to him and encourage him to play MMORPGs. He repeatedly stresses that he has no interest in "3D" women... except at times he looks at his own sister in a very unsettling way. I know what they were going for with this character, but I can't say I fit this stereotype, and I don't know all that many people (or any )that do.
  17. Hmm... seems you are stuck in the quadruple digits.

  18. Warning, somewhat graphic video: http://7902de93.linkbucks.com/url/http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/02/justice/texas-video-beating/ So back in 2004, Judge William Adams caught his daughter downloading music illegally and took it upon himself to discipline her. Unfortunately for him, there was a camera recording the whole affair and now it has become a public matter. The video shows the judge repeatedly striking his daughter with a belt. I would suggest actually watching the video, because I believe there is a line you need to cross in order for a parent to become a child abuser. The media as well as the public are (for the most part) enraged, but not everyone is in agreement. What is your take on this case? Do you think the judge should be held to a higher standard because of his position? Did the crime fit the punishment?

    Trouble with L4D
Playing in windowed mode is probably going to give worse performance than running at a reduced resolution but still in full screen. When in full screen, all the background Windows stuff isn't having to be rendered at the same time as the game.
Very true, I am just not sure if its in the options, (though I fully expect it to be) and it is just one of the workarounds. I guess one other thing that might help is making sure that not many programs are running in the background. An internet browser with a few tabs, media players, and those IM services can be kinda taxing on your computer usage. You can open up task manager and check the processes. Just make sure you don't turn off any vital programs.
  21. Heh, just make sure you see with your eyes, and not with your hands.

  22.
I've got all my homework done, but I still don't feel like going to school today. I'll go anyway, though.
You did your homework, AND you are going to school when you don't feel like it? How are we related again? I need to go get syrup today and I decided that its worth the extra ten dollars to get the expensive stuff. My reasoning is that IT TASTES SO MUCH BETTER!!!!1 It also will last until I use it, so I don't have to worry about expiration dates, and I will probably get a cool glass bottle that I can use as a flask when its all gone.

    Trouble with L4D

Lower the resolution! If you are in full screen you are adding a lot of pixels. If your scan is getting all the facts, you are gonna need to buy a processor in order to play on the minimum settings... this is waaaaay too expensive. Check the options for a way to lower the resolution, or if you can, just make it a window, or even lower your screen resolution as a whole. If the screen is small, and you just can't take it anymore, buy a VGA/HDMI cable and hook it up to your TV. They will run you about 20$ or less, and you can use it for more than just gaming.
