1. I shall obey your command to join you, Mistress Raiha. ~~~ Name: Ten Wu Gender: Male Organization nickname: Snowcat Age: 23 (born in 2076) Chinese Zodiac Sign: Monkey Organization of Choice: The Brotherhood of Jade Forest Function: A pimp and a hustler himself, although nowadays he only takes the most important customers. He firmly believes that the best deals are made between the sheets. Appearance: *by heise from deviantART* Weapon of Choice: various poisons and toxins hidden in rings, pendants and other type of jewelry. Because Snowcat hates to see blood, he uses more covert ways of disposing of his enemies, and he never participates in melee combat. Biography: Ten has the common background of ethnic criminals, being raised by a single mother in the slums of San Francisco. Early on he admired the "big boys" and their gangs, and he spent a lot of time outside following them. One night, when he was just over ten years old, he came home late and found her mother cruelly butchered to her bed. She had been a poor prostitute without the luxury of choosing her clients. From that night on, whenever Ten saw blood, he'd see the image of his dead mother flash before his eyes. In the same evening, her mother's pimp daddy, Mr. Wang, came and took him to the Jade Court. Personality: cold, cunning and calculating. He has given up any hope of living a normal life with a normal job. He doesn't think he ever really wanted that, anyway.

First Twist: As the bands of heroes approach Sorceress Morgwyn's castle, they find it surrounded by a flock of countless Obsidian Gargoyles that attack them on sight. 3. Hey, xgigia_ragex, and welcome to the Adventure Square. Before you post anything here, please read through the Adventure Square Basics, stickied to the top of the topic list. From there you'll learn what this section of OtakuBoards is meant for, as well as basic guidelines on how to post here. Also look into the other threads around here to see how things are done. Also please use a language that makes sense around here, so that people can actually understand what you're trying to say, okay? Grammar is your friend. ;D Because this game meets, well, none of the requirements we are looking for in a roleplaying game here, I'm going to have to close this thread now. For more questions, please contact me or any of the other staff by private messages. Cheers! - Sandy
  4. I'm a bit baffled about episode 27. The shift of focus, the introduction of the new characters and the fast speed of events made it hard for me to get into it. It felt too crammed with stuff for my taste. Judging from their first appearance in the episode, I don't think I like neither Mello or Near anymore than I liked L. They're both too similar to L (being his type of savant kids), and they both seem quite one-sided as characters (N good, M bad). I hope their personalities will develop more in the future. The beginning of the episode confused me
with the sudden leap in time that wasn't mentioned at all (where was the "x years later" text?). I'm still not sure if it's been 1,5 years or 4 years since L's death, because both numbers were tossed in the air.
Ugh, then Yagami Sayu...
What a pathetic plot device. The innocent yet attractive sister of the protagonist who gets kidnapped- I think I've seen that in like a cazillion places. And talking about growth-spurts! I do like the fact that Light has to make the ultimate moral choice - will he have it in him to kill a loved one to reach his goal?
I also like the tension that builds up with
three opposing sides instead of the common two. There's bound to be some interesting episodes ahead...
5.
Lol! I would rather be overly cautious I suppose, then get banned or something.
Trust me, you won't get banned for posting mature content to a thread with a mature rating. And the staff would give you a warning first, anyhow. The staff here aren't tyrants, but actually quite a caring and understanding lot, actually. ;D
And what exactly do you mean by when you say this: "but you were so prude about it that the addition of that scene was quite pointless. Please, if you want to write about intimate situations in the future, do it properly or don't do it at all."
What I meant was that if you want to write about sex in a mature way, you have to be bold about it. It doesn't mean you have to take out the beauty from it, not at all, but nothing graphic really happened in that scene of yours. Like I said after that paragraph in my last post, the scene only disturbed the flow of the story since it was hidden away and had an alternative, shorter scene. I guess I was just bothered that you used a wrong rating and excessive warnings about something that's really nothing. *shrug* Don't be so overly cautious next time, okay?

Hey, ARR, welcome to the Adventure Square. I have to say you're doing quite many things against the rules of this place now. Please, you should read the Adventure Square Basics thoroughly before posting here. First of all, you mustn't post twice in a row to add things, but use the edit button located at the bottom of your posts instead. Secondly, your thread lacks both a rating and the required three paragraphs of background story, so I have to close it. Feel free to post the game again once it meets those requirements, and after you're familiar with the basics of this place. Thank you! - Sandy
  7. Hey, dragoonreaper, and welcome to the boards! I'm a little lost in what to tell you if you already have read the sticky. It contains all the information you need, really. I'll try to be as specific as possible. Let's go through the process of RPG-creating step-by-step, shall we?
1. Create a sign-up thread to the Adventure Inn for players to join your game. That thread needs three specific things: - a rating to the title (refer to the sticky for more details) - at least three paragraphs of background story to act as a setting for the game - some sort of "sign-up sheet" for the player-created characters that include all the information you want about them (check the other Inn-threads for examples) 2. Wait for members to reply to that thread with their characters, then accept those you want in. 3. Then create the actual game thread here to the Adventure Square, and start playing with the other players. Remember to add the rating here as well. 4. You can also (although you don't have to) create an additional thread to the Arena Underground for out-of-character discussion and planning for the game. Rating applies here too.
That's the very basic structure that you should follow, although deviations from it are acceptable if there's a reason for it (for example a RPG with just two predetermined players doesn't require a sign-up thread). What's more important is quality, for both grammar and contents. We moderators are quite picky about this issue. For example, the language you use in this thread doesn't really meet the quality requirements here. Please don't use text speak or shortenings (like ny1), and pay attention to typos. What I'd like to suggest is that you join games that are created by other members first, before trying to create your own game, just to really get the hang of how things work here. Hope this clears the process up for you. I'm going to have to close this thread now, since it's not a game thread and thus is in the wrong place, but I'll leave it visible for you (and any other newcomers) to read and learn from. Cheers! - Sandy
  8. Are you serious? That's your M-rated material? You really, really, really didn't need all those warnings for that, sweetie. You didn't use any graphic terms or descriptions whatsoever, you just hinted and spoke in symbols. I know sex can be a sensitive thing for a young, inexperienced person, and I wasn't excepting anything pornographical or such, but you were so prude about it that the addition of that scene was quite pointless. Please, if you want to write about intimate situations in the future, do it properly or don't do it at all. Or at least leave all the unnecessary warnings and optional endings out then, they just break the flow of the story. Anyway, I think that's enough criticism from me, so I won't go any further. It's a nice story you have going on here.
  9. Once again I've edited the title of your RPG. I have to remind you that Adventure Square doesn't use specific ages in the ratings, because they don't abide here (there is an age limit of thirteen in these boards already). So please don't you use them either. Thank you!
  10.
Sounds like a lot of fun, but I hope I'll get the hang of it. It'll be a little confusing, but... alright. Can't wait to post. When is this starting exactly?
As soon as somebody posts, of course. Why don't you start, Tiana? ;D
  11. I've been trying to create my favorite type of RPG a few times, but it always falls down to other people not sharing my ideals for it - which is of course only natural. My ultimate game would of course be influenced by Final Fantasy (gawd I'm such a pathetic fanboy!), sharing it's mythical elements of crystals, summons and color magic, and including references to the games. The setting would be familiar from the games as well: part medieval, part advanced technology. It could very well be dystopian as well, like FF VII's Midgar. The world would be full of imaginative places, and all of us players would create it together as the story progressed. The plot would be full of twists (I like 'em twists!) and it would deepen as the characters got more attention. It wouldn't center around just one main character, but all the player -created characters would have an equal part in the plot. I'd want the plot to break the barrier between good and evil, and step into the "grey zone", where the characters would be driven by other motives than just saving the world from the impending doom. Now that I think of it, it wouldn't necessarily include an impending doom at all. As for the players, I'd like to see six dedicated, active and creative people (all familiar with the FF-games, of course) join me in the adventure. I wouldn't be the sole person responsible for advancing the story, but all the players would courageously imput their own ideas to it. The game would most definitely be linear with flashbacks of each character to deepen them. With all the twists included, I wouldn't describe the plot as one straight line, but rather a zig-zag of sorts. The ending is always the problematic one. I wouldn't want the game to go on for too long, because eventually people will lose interest. The game should end right after it's peak, the climax of the story, so that everybody would have a great feeling left inside them for making this magnificent RPG together. ;D
  12.
I know that, I'm just saying for basic characters types, the plot is fairly FF-ish. I don't understand what you mean by 'High' fantasy anyway? High levels[/B'] of fantasy?
My dear Jamie, haven't you learned the art of Googling yet? ;D High Fantasy is basically the epic subgenre of fantasy fiction, the one with all the elves and dwarves and dragons and magics. It's precursor was of course J.R.R. Tolkien, so by following his footsteps you can't go wrong. ;D
  13. I enjoy board games quite much, the only downside in them is that you can only play them with a companion (and many board games even require a minimum of three players). I've had to learn many different types of board games because of my line of work with children and youth, and I dare say that I'm quite good at many of them as well. ;D Currently I have here in my student appartment Trivial Pursuit DVD-edition, Carcassone with all of it's expansions and Lord of the Rings board game. I have a few more, older board games at my granny's, including 13 Dead End Drive (one of the sources of inspiration for my Otaku Idol 2 event, the Labyrinth), which still is my dearest board game. As for memories related to the games, I have to say that I always hated the sore losers who'd get pissed off if they lost and then threw the whole board and all the pawns and possible cards to the floor and marched out of the room, leaving the others to clean up after them. >:/ Unfortunately I had to grew up with many of that ilk.
  14. Just a tip: the theme is High Fantasy, not Final Fantasy. There's a very crucial difference between those two. ;D
  15.
Are all of the team's various players supposed to have their characters interact with one another, or should we look at this as four separate RPGs with the same setting taking place in the same thread? -Shy
To keep things as simple as possible, you'll all play the same game. Interaction is allowed, but keep in mind the rule about alliances as well as using the team colors.
  16.
I might have missed it or might even be misunderstanding, but the winning team choosing the 12 players to move on within 2 teams, does that mean we would essentially be rearranging the players into 2 teams of our choosing regardless of existing teams?
Well, assuming that the winning team wants to keep their ranks unified, they would get to choose which players from other teams would join them and which would form the competing team. Remember that both teams must have six members, so if for example your team, The Titans, wins, you'd get to choose one more person to your team, and then six from the remaining seven players to form the other team. The seventh would be the one who'd get evicted. Hope I explained this clear enough now...
  17. There are thirteen players in four teams in this game now. I have decided that only twelve will fit the two teams that are going to be created after this next challenge. The battle for those twelve spots will be an especially demanding one. Let me introduce: Sixth Challenge: SurviWars In our quest to master the elements of OtakuBoards, we are now moving to our homebase: roleplaying. In this challenge, the teams must roleplay their way through changing themes and surprising twists. Here are the quite complex rules, so pay attention:
1. All of the roleplaying takes place in this thread, but teams are of course allowed to plan their strategies in their own Team Threads. 2. This almost goes without saying, but the members of the same team must play as allies, whereas the members of other teams will be their rivals, except if I advise otherwise. Also, killing off other players' characters isn't allowed. 3. As said, there will be a changing theme to the roleplaying, familiar from the different types of RPGs played here at the Adventure Square. Each time the theme is changed (by me alone), the characters and the setting must adjust accordingly. Throughout consistency is not relevant in this challenge, and you mustn't fret if the theme changes quite abruptly. I will also interfere at times to insert some zany plot twist for you players to overcome. 4. You all will be playing as different characters suitable to the given themes. You can post profiles of your own characters to the Team Threads if you so wish, and you can relate them to other characters created by other players. 5. There are no limits to the amount of posting, but too much domination from one team or a single player will be frowned upon. Even though this is a competition, you must give space to the other teams as well. Likewise, all players must post actively, otherwise it will hurt the whole team. 6. The winning team will be the one that shows the most creativity, adaptability, activity and improvisational skills as a whole. One player's efforts won't do much good this time if others are slacking. The reward will be one of a kind: the team gets to choose the two teams of five players that will continue in the game. This unfortunately means that they will pick the three players who will be left out as well. 7. One more thing, when you're posting to this thread in-character (meaning when you roleplay), use your team color.
That's pretty much all. However, if you do have any questions about this, don't hesitate to ask. Below is the first theme and a little background story for it. We will start with an easy one. Survivors GO! Theme One: High Fantasy The magnificent Phoenix Heart had been the treasure of the Aria Kingdom for centuries, but now the evil Sorceress Morgwyn has stolen it to restore her youth. It is up to brave bands of heroes to start a quest to Morgwyn's castle and retrieve the royal jewel.
  18.
And wait "making life hard"? By telling people to close the door or not stand behind me while I'm playing video games? What? Oh, my life is so hard, i have to close the door when i go into my brothers room? I'm not allowed the comfort of standing around in the computer room while he's on the internet? That's freaking stupid, I'm sorry.
No need to get aggressive, DigitalBoy. I wasn't being totally serious, you know? ;D But honestly, by obsessing over some minor detail, you really are making life harder for yourself. Taking it on your family and friends don't help you either, I for one would be quite pissed off if someone ordered me around like you say you do. I hope you say those things with a little more respect in practice than in your writing.
  19.
Before I begin, I would like to state that I place full blame on OCD for doing this to me. Firstly, and most importantly, is doors. If I am in a room with a door, said door must be closed. At first this was more a personal preference, but now it's gotten to the point where idf a door is open, I start freaking out on whoever's near it to close it, or if I'm alone, getting up and closing it. At this point, when people enter a room or begin leaving a room, I find myself calling out 'close the door!' without even thinking. It's mildly frightening. When I'm concentrating on something, namely while playing video games or using the computer, I don't like anyone's head in the room to be higher than mine. I don't know why. It just gives me this really strange feeling and I can't concentrate. In my room a general rule is; stay sitting down, and don't sit too close to me. While on the computer, I usually attempt to command people to leave the room when they come in, or merely stop what I'm doing until they are gone.
Man, you certainly are making life hard for both yourself and the people you deal with. Are you mildly autistic, perchance? As for me, I have a strange habit of getting upset over flying bugs, but only occasionally. Usually flies don't bother me, and sometimes I can even stay calm in the vicinity of a bee. Then there are times when I go into panic and start screaming in most awkward circumstances (like when I'm washing windows and a fly flies in - you can bet the whole neighborhood heard those screams). Mind you that this only goes for flying insects, as beetles and ants and such don't bother me at all, and I'm actually fond of spiders. Butterflies and moths are excluded as well, maybe because I haven't had that many close encounters with those. I don't know what's the cause of my semi-phobia, but I'm trying to grow out of it. Spending few weeks in Spain last summer helped a lot, as there were bugs everywhere.
  20. The result of the fourth team council are clear. Team Argo, I got all three votes from you, two of which went to Allamorph, and the third to Shy. The Laugh Out Louds, with two votes you have kicked out Kitty. The Titans, you unanimously voted out The Boss/Mike, who seems to have vanished from the face of the Earth. Or at least from OB. This means that Allamorph, Kitty and Mike, you three will be leaving this game now. You all get one more post to say goodbye to your team-mates in this thread. Next challenge is going to be a major one, because after that, this game will have only two teams left. Prepare well, Survivors, as the sixth challenge will commence soon enough.
  21.
With this in mind, I propose a Moderator Timeline of Succession. This would probably start out better as textual, chronicling the transition of power for each moderating position. Of course, it would be done by forum (included those discontinued and renamed, which would be noted as such). I envision a more graphical representation eventually, probably in the form of a family tree or hierarchy or ... you know what I mean.
Great idea, Retri. It'd serve as a list of all the moderators in the history of OB at the same. Now if someone would only remember all those dozens of people who've been part of the staff one time or another... XP
  22. I'll be joining this as well, if Rach so chooses. ... What the heck, he'll pick me anyway, or else I'll take my copyright back! ;P
  23. The instrumental version worked just fine technically, but it was nigh impossible for me to insert the lyrics you wrote into it while I was listening. It must've lacked a few important instruments or something... The melody of it was just so vague. Keep in mind that I'm not the most musical person in the world, though. ;P
  24. The time is up, and the fifth challenge is over. All in all, I'm very pleased with the amount of dedication and hard work you put into these songs, and the outcome was entertaining and quite imaginative. As usual, I'll do a rundown for each team separately, and then announce the winner. The Laugh Out Louds: I'm sorry, but your team didn't send in your song in time, so I have to disqualify you. It's a shame, but I'll see you at the Team Council. The Mercenaries: I have to say I was a bit puzzled when I read you chose N'Sync's "Bye Bye Bye" for your base song, it was an unconventional choice, but in the end it worked. The lyrics you came up with were consistent throughout and had many fun parts. You gave each team member their own two lines, which was a good call, as it separated you into individuals. The graphics were top-notch, too. There were some problems with rhythm, some of the longer lines didn't quite match up with the melody, and the instrumental version was a disaster, so it was good that you had a link to the music video as well. Great performance, anyhow! The Titans: Now there's a catchy and fun choice for a team song. The lyrics were simple and humorous, and the melody stuck to one's head. The graphics fitted both your team and the base song you chose, and the music file was of great quality. Dips on those points. However, there were some inconsistencies within the lyrics, I think you should've given all members the equal amount of lines (like you discussed in your Team Thread), preferably not cramping them up like in the first two verses. Great going, Titans! Team Argo: I admit, your team has been quite the underdog in these challenges. You chose a groovy song for this challenge, which was both catchy and legendary, I don't think there are very many people who can say they've never heard "YMCA". The lyrics matched the melody very well. But nevertheless, there were some serious issues in the lyrics as well. First of all, they were too repetitive - you could've altered the words of the chorus since it was repeated so many times. You didn't really bring up great team spirit in the lyrics, either. Especially the line "Then there is Shade, what he does we're not sure" stuck out. The music from the link ended way before the lyrics did, and the ending was just confusing. There were cosmetic flaws as well, which you, Tiana, said you'd fix but apparently never got around doing it. I loved the flashing background, but the text disappeared into it. Not that groovy, after all. With all being said and done, there can only be one winner. Two teams out of the four really hit it, but for more complex lyrics and taking a risk that was worth it, the victory goes to... The Mercenaries! Congrats, Mercs, you are safe from the Team Council. As for the rest of the teams, it's time for the... Fourth Team Council The Lols... The Titans... Team Argo... One player from each of your teams will have to leave the game now. Who will it be? Who has been a disappointment? Who has been holding back the team? Survivors, it's time to vote.
  25. #9 has got to be He-Man (from Masters of the Universe), but it isn't an anime, so perhaps it was a trick question?
