1. Eh, people... I had a reason I would've wanted you to post to the Town instead of here, and the reason is that I'm tired of constantly copy&pasting my posts to a new reply as I edit them because I feel that I'm the only one posting into the thread a part from the accusations. Under my rule, I would've wanted the Town to be more interactive, but if you prefer the old way, I can deal with that. Now, we move onto the Court, and here's some statistics again: Number of Rounds until the Mafia wins: 1 or 2 Town Population: 6 Number of Deaths: 4 Last Murder: John Last Person found Guilty: Ikillion Current Accused Town Person: Boo Current Stage: The Court
Priest: Mafia: Detective: John
Players: Aaryanna_Mom Allamorph Boo [strike]Delta[/strike] [strike]Ikillion[/strike] [strike]John[/strike] Katana MistressRoxie [strike]Sakura[/strike] Tekkaman
2. Alright, then, we move onto the Court now. First accusation is Tekkaman blaming Boo, so now the suspected person (Boo) can reply. More accusations can be sent to my PM-box, thank you.
3.
Okay well We need to get more charries or else this RP wont happen HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been over a month since anybody has signed up, SasukeUchiha, you can't expect wonders. You should've started the game when you had the chance instead of waiting for more people to show up. I'm afraid it's too late now. Hope you'll learn something from this. In any case, you shouldn't have resurrected a thread this old, so I'll have to close it now. Sorry. - Sandy
4. I would like to remind all parties that this is just a game, so keep your discussion in a civilized level, please. I don't want any namecalling or needless insults here, no matter if they're part of a strategy or not. I felt the need to say this before anything gets out of hand. Thank you, now please continue.
5. Evan loved Christmas time. It was the only time in the year that everybody were kind and generous and forgiving. Not because they wanted to be, though, but because they were expected to be. As he was walking in the shopping streets of the downtown Washington D.C., he saw fake smiles and heard overly cheery greetings everywhere. Evan just loved it when people had to pretend to be good. It served them right. {Are we really going to New York?} Cygnus asked him, sounding more whiny than usual. The Shinigami was floating next to him, his ethereal body going through people who came from the opposite direction. Evan had just bought a ticket to a flight in New Year's Eve. "Yes, we are. I need to go check on the clue. Why is it a problem to you?" Evan asked quietly, trying not to attract people's attentions by seemingly talking to himself out loud. {It's the other Shinigami... If we really find other Death Note holders in that old theater, there will no doubt be other Death Gods as well. I don't get along with them very well, you see}, Cygnus said miserably, hanging his head low. Evan sighed sympathetically. "I'll look after you, don't worry..." he whispered to the Death God. A human taking care of a god... how silly! As they passed an alley, Evan happened to look into it and froze as he saw a familiar figure standing there. "You!" Evan shouted, glutching his hands into fists. He took a few steps into the alley. "Well, if it isn't Mr. Umberwood", said Boyson Ivy, a sluttish black transvestite who was also a notorious drug dealer. "Long time no see, dear." Evan felt the urge to attack the she-man, but Boyson Ivy's gleaming muscles prevented him to test his luck. Evan wouldn't stand a chance to the hulk of a transvestite. "I see, you still hold a grudge", Boyson mused, touching his painted lips. "I'm truly sorry about what happened to poor Adam, but he made his choice all by himself. I just gave him the goods." (If I only had that bastard's real name, he'd be as good as dead!) Evan though, but was immediately frightened by his thoughts. Could he really do it?

7. With that being said, the participants now have time until Wednesday to vote whether you think Ikillion is part of the Mafia or not. Like before, only send me private messages if you think Ikillion is guilty. ---------------------------------------------------------------- After the Court's decision, Ikillion was swiftly hanged like the town laws stated. But, as it soon turned out, Ikillion was not part of the Mafia after all, and the killings continued... Since there were no more suspects, the town turned in to another sleepless night. ------------------------------------------------------------------ During the night, only the Priest, the Detective and the Mafia stayed up, each on their own work. Please, each of you, send me the private messages with your targets. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning, the Detective's assistant arrived to the office, expecting to find his boss sleeping behind his desk after working through the night. He found Detective John behind his desk, indeed, but to his horror, he had fallen into an eternal sleep with a bullet on his brain. The news spread like fire across the Town, and the townsfolk quickly gathered to grieve over the loss of the detective who had been hiding in the shadows before this. People, please discuss this incident and it's consequences here at the Town now.
8. Thanks, Darren, your posts were very insightful. ;D I actually haven't read or seen Battle Royale, but I've heard of it. However, I actually based the Labyrinth on the movie Labyrinth (how orignal is that? ;P) and the boardgame 13 Dead End Drive. Hope what I'm going to say next line doesn't break the "no communication rule", but if it does, it's been broken many times already in this thread. White, I'm sorry I offended you, but you have to understand that I can't possibly know what goes on behind the scenes because I'm an outside viewer now. So of course I can only assume. I see now that there was a rather detrimental misunderstanding regarding the post order. I never meant it in a way that Death Cards could be used only after everybody had posted once. I expected the ending to be quick and swift, with everybody trying to eliminate each other's characters before theirs was killed. But somehow, it just didn't happen. I don't know if anybody can be blamed for that, but of course it makes me feel bad that I can't do anything about it. Seeing my invention in somebody else's hands bothers me, and it really isn't personal, White; if you were anybody else, I'd be equally bothered. And I figure you're just as bothered to see me running your event, even though you said I'm doing a decent job. :/
9. First of all, this is the first time I've heard that I have skipped (purely accidentally, I assure you) some steps in the round process of the Mafia. I believed I did everything White had done in the previous rounds, but please, if you see me missing out on something, do tell me immediately. I really don't want to ruin the Mafia for you! Then onto Shy's questions:
Interview Three: New Event, New Challenges 1. What did you think were some of the biggest problems with your competition's Event prior to taking charge of it? Be specific and be honest. 2. What is your biggest concern regarding the Event you created being under someone else's control? 3. What are some of the challenges in running your new Event? 4. Do you feel taking control over this new Event has impacted its' activity or success in any way? 5. What are you doing differently with this Event that the original creator did not? 6. Will your new Event be able to see completion by the end of the competition, roughly three weeks from now? 7. What is your opinion of your competition's handling of your Event so far?
1. I felt the biggest problem of Mafia is that it was hard for an outsider to fully comprehend, follow and enjoy, because there's so much going on in the background. It was also very difficult for me to jump into it in the midst of everything, but thankfully Allamorph saved me by explaining what had been going on, and I could take the reins from that on. 2. Well, my biggest concern is that White would not understand the possibilities of the world of the Labyrinth, and thus wouldn't appreciate it as a potential event. He's a roleplayer like myself, but we do have different tastes. 3. The biggest challenge I'm facing is to resist the urge to get into the discussion about who did what and to whom. In Labyrinth, I was as much of an participant as the other players, but in Mafia, I feel I'm just the organizer, watching everybody else having the fun. It's purposeful for the game, I know, but I have had to settle into this new role. 4. There hasn't been any changes in terms of activity or success during this week, in my opinion. I'd like to think I'm moving things forward faster, but it's really the participants who are doing it, not me. 5. I did add the picture of the hanged man, heh. But seriously, I'm thinking that I will be more open with who has died and who is accusing who and all that (I never got the point of the spoiler tags, really). All in all, I'm trying to think that the Mafia is my event now, and not focus too much on what White would do on each situation . 6. I hope so, and I'll do my damned best to achieve that goal, but ultimately it's up to the players. I'm kinda sad to see the players of Labyrinth giving up on it, because I aimed to make it so short as well as intriguing that nobody would get bored. But it's out of my hands now. *shrug* 7. Frankly, I'm not impressed. When I was running the Labyrinth, I would write into the game myself to keep the story moving on, and to add twists to it to keep the players interested. So far, White hasn't done any of that, which I can only assume is because Labyrinth isn't his type of event. According to what has come up in this thread today, he hasn't seemed to be very open with all the players involved. If somebody drops out, the others should deserve to know about it, in my opinion. On the other hand, I sympathize White because he doesn't have the list of players and their respective characters I had, but I had to dig that same information from the players of the Mafia as well. But yeah, to me it seems that White isn't even trying much. Sorry if that offends White, but it's just the way I see it, nothing personal. :/

11. In the night, Evan was surfing the InterWorld with his laptop. He went to his favorite gay porn Square, but even pretty boys offering their virgin butts couldn't take his mind off the black notebook laying on the table, next to the Shinigami who was still sitting there. "Aw, hell!" he cussed in frustration. Without thinking further, he went to GoogleField and typed in 'Death Note'. He didn't expect to find anything, but he did. "What's this...?" he wondered out loud, and clicked the LinkFlower that GoogleField offered him. It lead to a full black screen with only three lines of text in white. Evan just stared at the black screen for a long while. He was scared, but he knew he needed to be there at that time. At an old theater in New York at the turn of the new year.
12.
Actually, I don't think the Detective/Priest is supposed to be revealed after they're killed. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're not, so they actually could be dead. (Sandy[/b'], take note of this so you don't accidentally reveal them if one of them is killed.)
On the contrary: there are empty spots in the statistics for all four "special" players, that (according to what I've gathered) will be filled when the respective player dies. It's not to ruin the game, but to help the game to move forward and to aid in logical thinking. The thing is, if nobody knows nothing, then everybody's pretty much dead.
13.
- 7 people are left in the town and there are 4 positions filled (Mafia, Detective, and Priest). That means that there are 3 townspeople left if Sandy's information is correct.
My information is as correct as the private messages I received from each player. If nobody dared to lie to me (and I see no reason anybody would've), then what you say in the quoted paragraph is true.
14. Evan shut the notebook and looked at Cygnus, who was now sitting on his desk, the only tabletop on his small one-room appartment. The rules written on the first few pages of the Death Note circled in his mind. "So... This is a weapon?" Evan confirmed from the Death God. {You could call it that}, Cygnus sighed, gazing out of the window, huddling his legs against his body. Another tear of blood ran down his cheek, but vanished before it dropped. "This..." Evan said, lifting the Death Note up. "This book can be used to kill people without nobody ever knowing who did it!" {I wouldn't be so sure about it...} Cygnus said, shrugging indifferently. "Wait... This must be it! All those weird deaths that couldn't possibly be committed by anybody were done using this!" Then Evan thought about it some more. "No, not this same book. Cygnus, are there other notebooks like this? Other Death Notes?" {All Shinigami carry at least one}, Cygnus said with his thin voice, all the while looking out of the window, the daylight reflecting on his deep blue eyes and the red tears that sapped from them. {And we Shinigami... We are countless.} "Then I'm right!" Evan beamed victoriously. "But wouldn't that also mean... Kira used one too!" In one afternoon, it all became clear to Evan Umberwood. But now that he possessed a Death Note as well, would he have the guts to use it?
15. Alright, I'm on tracks on what's going on now. Let's start rolling... Please send me your accusations about who you think is a killer through a PM now. 16. Ezekiel, Doublehex and Ikillion, you can join the roster now. ;D I'll have to see how the game moves forward before I let anybody else into it, however. Please bare in mind that all of your characters should currently be located in the East Coast of North America (whether they live there or are just visiting, I don't mind), so that the distances don't bother the interaction.
17. Blayze, you're welcome to join aboard. From now on, I'm not going to post after every sign-up, but I will add the names of those who are accepted into the list of players on the first post of the game thread, so keep an eye of that as well.

(I guess the Boss is just giving me a chance to show what I?m made of?) He stopped at the shelf 237.27, and searched for the year 2006. ?Here we go! Kira, I?m going to find out everything about you?? Evan grinned. He picked up a stack of newspapers from the shelf, and carried them to a table. He searched the headlines one by one, but there were surprisingly few mentions of Kira and Japan in them, mostly just wild rumors and articles about rapidly decreased crime rates. It was just like the recent week had been. A series of criminals had died under strange circumstances. Suddenly there were old people everywhere screaming ?Kira is back!?. Was history repeating itself? As he went through the stack, his eyes caught up in a black notebook that had somehow gotten between the newspapers. He picked it up, and saw the words ?Death Note? written on the cover with white. ?What?s this??? he said by himself. {Just flip the thing open and you?ll find out}, said a quite depressed voice next to him. Evan quickly turned his face towards the speaker, just to see an almost naked youth sitting on the long table. His skin was pale blue and had two pairs of indigo wings, one sprouting from his bare ankles and the other from his head. But what captured Evan?s attention was the young man?s sad, ageless eyes that glistened with bloody tears. Evan flinched back, gasping in terror. "Who... what... why...?!" {Oh please... I told you to flip the notebook, not flip out yourself} the strange, angelic man said in despair. {I am Cygnus, the Swan of Sorrow. I am what you mortals know as a Death God, a Shinigami.} "A... Shinigami..." Evan whispered. "But why are you here?" {I'm here because you found my Death Note. Don't worry, you're the only one here that can see me or hear me. I'd suggest we go to a place where we can discuss more privately. If you want, that is.} The creature who called himself Cygnus got up the table, but his feet didn't touch the ground. He rather floated in midair. Evan got up as well, leaving the stack of newspapers to the table, taking only the black notebook with him. Cygnus turned his head to look at Evan, and the answer reflected in his miserable eyes from which blood streaked like a small river. Yes, you are.
19. Kitty and BKStyles, consider yourself accepted as players to this game. I'm going to start the game thread shortly, but as said, the sign-up will remain open to all who want to be involved for the duration of the game. See you in the game!
20. Wait... What? You were six years old when you started here, huh? I swear, I couldn't even write with a pencil when I was that age, let alone type! XP I remember you as well, from the first OtakuBoards Survivor. You made it quite far with your Frankenstein-character... ;D If you want a good nostalgy trip, you should definitely check out the Otakupedia thread stickied at the top of this section. There are plenty of memories stored into it. - Sandy, formerly known as Sage

But what captured Evan?s attention was the young man?s sad, ageless eyes that glistened with bloody tears. ***** Welcome to Death Note, an RPG based on the popular manga/anime. The events of this game take place about thirty years after the happenings depicted in the series, but are completely independent from them. That means there can be no appearances of the original characters. In fact, there shouldn't be any major spoilers on the events of the series at all. The world of this game has moved to a fully digitalized era, with technology having become a part of everybody's everyday life. The incident of Kira (a Japanese version of the word "Killer") cleansed the Earth from the worst criminals, but after thirty years, corruption and organized crime is thriving again. Then, a series of unexplained deaths happen almost simultaneously in several countries. Has Kira returned? The characters in this game are all people who have gotten their hands on a Death Note in the continent of North America, although they can originate from other countries as well. For more details on the characters, check out the sign-up sheet. Now, like the series, this game features some rules concerning the Death Notes and the Death Gods, or the Shinigami, who accompany the carriers of the notebooks. Rules concerning the use of Death Note: 1. The human whose name is written in this note shall die. 2. This note will not take effect unless the writer has the subject's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected. 3. If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the subject's name, it will happen. 4. If the cause of death is not specified, the subject will simply die of a heart attack. 5. After writing the cause of death, the details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Rules concerning the Death Gods: 1. A Shinigami must own at least one Death Note. That Death Note may also be used and owned by a human, but only if the Death Note falls to earth and is found by a human. The Shinigami have to keep using the Death Note to kill people in order to extend their own lives. 2. A pact exists between the human owner and the Shinigami who gave the human the Death Note. The pact is such that at the end of the owner's life, the shinigami has to write down the owner's name in his own note. 3. Shinigami eyes have the ability to learn the subject's natural life span and name by simply looking at the subject's face. A human with a Death note can gain this ability from a Shinigami, with the price of having their remaining natural life span cut in half. The human with this ability cannot see their own life span or the life span of other Death Note holders. 4. All Shinigami have the ability fly, no matter if they have wings or not. They can also move between dimensions. 5. Most importantly, they can only be seen and heard by whoever has touched their Death Note. Basically, you don't have to know anything else about the Death Notes or the Shinigami to participate, but of course those who've read the manga or watched the anime will enjoy it more. I don't know how many characters I'll accept yet, it all depends on the quality of your sign-ups. ***** And now to the business, here's the sign-up sheet. Name of your character: (reflecting the nationality) Age: (anything from a child to a senior citizen) Gender: (male or female) Origins: (where the character is from, city and country) Appearance: (describe it, no pictures allowed) Personality: (make it original, and not black-and-white) How acquired the Death Note: (not in story form, just a simple depiction) Other Information: (what hasn't been mentioned but should be known about the character) Name and Title of the Shinigami: (something suitable for a Death God, can be taken from any mythology or just be made-up; the title should reflect the appearance or personality of the deity) Appearance of the Shinigami: (describe this as well, no pictures here either) ***** As an example, here's my character's profile: Name of your character: Evan Umberwood Age: 24 years old Gender: Male Origins: Melbourne, Australia Appearance: He has short, curly, golden blonde hair, tall and slender body structure and greenblue eyes. He sports a constant wide smile on his face. He prefers to wear a denim jacket and jeans, and always carries a golden earring he got from his late boyfriend in his right ear. Personality: Evan is a very curious person, a trait that drove him to study journalism. He likes to be a neutral observer, not having strong opinions about anything. Unlike his deceased boyfriend who worried about revealing their relationship, Evan never worried whether or not people knew. He just doesn't care what others think about him. He loves gossips and secrets, which has often got him into trouble. How acquired the Death Note: He found it in the Archives, an old-fashioned library in Washington D.C., when he was investigating the case of Kira, a Japanese mass-murdered who aimed to purge the world of evil. Other Information: He moved to the US from Australia with his parents when he was a preteen, but still has the foreign accent in his speach. His college boyfriend, Adam St. Valentine, killed himself four years back by taking an overdose of medicine. Ever since that incident, Evan has stopped going out and dedicated himself fully to his studies. When he graduated, he started working on the prestigious Washington Post. Name and Title of the Shinigami: Cygnus, the Swan of Sorrow Appearance of the Shinigami: He appears as a thin, young male. He has pale blue skin with some downs sprouting out of it here and there. He also has four indigo blue feathery wings, one pair growing out of his ankles and the other pair from his temples. His features are quite feminine, as is his long, flowing white hair. His eyes reflect the sadness of death, and tears of blood drip from them constantly. ***** The sign-up will remain open for the duration of the game, but I'll start the game thread once I'll have a few accepted players. As a final note, a word of warning: I intend to make the game reflect the rating it has, so there's going to be gory death scenes, no limitations to the profanities that the characters can say, and also explicit sexual acts. I do not want the game to be all mindless and immoral, though, but be prepared. ***** EDIT: Added a few rules to the Shinigami section.
22. *Glares at Deathsye* Ahem... What I said in the actual RPG-thread applies to recruitment threads as well, Deathsye. Don't. Spam. Please. If you want to accept somebody to your game, do it in a civilized way, not in the way of a crazed babboon. Also try to get more than one words to your posts. The common rules of OtakuBoards abide to this place as well. - Sandy
23. YouTube finally had the eleventh episode subtitled, so I got the chance to watch it. I've got to say that it seems like the series is getting much darker from now on, as well as having more action in it. The female character shown in the end is a nice change to all the guys (and I know that
some menáge-á-trois
is inevitable ;P ). Death Note is definitely the most dark themed series I've ever watched, and it's only a good thing in my book. >;D On the other hand, I'm glad there's still quite a lot of Japanese silliness included so that it doesn't lose it's anime-edge.
24. We will move onto this round'ss accusation from Aaryanna_Mom concerning Ikillion. Please, A_M, post your accusation here, after which Ikillion can respond to this. Then we will move onto the voting.
25. I don't know what medieval age you think you live in, but taking justice into your own hands is every bit as punishable as commiting a crime. The girls should obviously go to the police and make the rapist pay for what he did to them. It's not going to be easy, the process can be very humiliating for the victims, but the other option is to let the offender live on the loose and possibly repeat his crime again. :/
