I know this isn't really my business, but as this is the feedback forum, I'd like to compliment on the team of moderators on finding the solution to the long time on-going "pictoral harrassment" (with the lack of a better word) of Brasil, who was just recently banned. I'm talking about this thread, which boiled down to banning of two members who both have been a part of this forum for a long time. I just wanted to bring this issue to public discussion, as OB is a real community unlike so many other forums. So, my thoughts... I was also affected by Brasil's offending posts once or twice, although some might say I deserved it at the time. However, I was sad to see that Brasil could keep offending others and always seemed to get away with it. I think everybody can admit that those pictures weren't the most nicest thing. Especially when aimed at you. It's unfortunate that Mitch - another banned "oldie" member - got carried away while trying to outwit Brazil. They seemed to have a long history of rivalry between them. Both members have also gained many votes in the OB Nifty Fifty -event, which makes this situation even more absurd. I'm sure that the mods made the right decision, it's just that old members rarely get banned, so I felt the need to discuss about this some more. This will most probably affect many members here as well... I personally won't miss Brasil, he never got any respect for me - only pity at most - but still I can't deny the fact that he was a part of this forum for a very long time. Same goes to Mitch as well. Well, it's not like they died or anything... Anyway, I'd like to "raise a toast" to Brasil and Mitch, who aren't among us anymore due to their own actions. Also, it's not like anybody has to answer this, but I'm wondering why Generic NPC#3 was banned? Wasn't he even a mod at one point? There's apparently many things boiling under the surface of OB, but I feel that talking about them is the best way to deal with them. What are you peoples' feelings about this issue?

The ninth challenge, Double Dash Survivor Style, has ended, and the winners are Mario and Lara, aka Team Plumber & Plunder. So congratulations, Doukeshi and White, for making it to the individual challenges, and the top six! ;D You earned your victory with your seamless team work, post quality and witty humour. You also weren't afraid to put your characters at danger of losing, and both of you posted equally. All in all, you both kept the challenge interesting. But... now it's your responsibility to vote out two of your fellow contestants. As said, you can only vote for one of the pairs of the latest contest. To freshen your memory, they were:
Yuna/Sakura and Xiaoyu/Raiyuu Shadow/Blayze and Ada/JJ Crash/Baron Samedi and Krystal/Solo Tremaine
Discuss about your decision through PM's and then send me your unanimous vote. Meanwhile, the other pairs can use the game thread for speculations and accusations. ;D With so few contestants left, it takes extra effort for everybody to keep the Game On!

Suddenly the two leading teams saw a flashing line on the road ahead. "Look!" Ada shouted to Shadow. "It's the finish line!" Mario and Lara had realized the same thing. "Focus on it", Lara adviced Mario, although she was confident on his driving skills with this particular kart. "It's our-a victory!" Mario said between gritted teeth. Mog appeared next to the flickering red line with a huge chessboard-patterned flag. The Red Fire and the Parade Car sped towards the line side-by-side, but Team Kickarse's vehicle was slowly getting ahead with it's superior properties. Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a blue spiked shell struck the Parade Car, flipping it over, and allowing the Red Fire to pass to the first place. Mog waved the huge flag as Team Plumber & Plunder crossed the finish line as winners of the ninth challenge.

I went to see this movie on its Finnish premiere to Helsinki with my boyfriend, and I experienced the very same feeling that Lunox had: for the majority of the film I just watched it blankly, but in the end the massive amount of emotions caught me and I was shocked to find my eyes getting wet. In the end I also understood that the movie wasn't about homosexuality (at first I was surprised to see so many straight couples at the theatre), but about unfulfilled love that was taken out from the cliché Romeo&Juliet context. The love between the two men was pure, not mere bodily lust, and I really hope heterosexual people go to see this movie as well, so that they can realize that love is universal, it's not just between a man and a woman. All in all, I've gotta say that I'm truly impressed that a bunch of straight guys took the chance and made this incredible film. It may not be the flashiest movie ever made, it may not have the widest audience, it might not suit for everybody, but if you give it a chance, the Brokeback Mountain will definately touch you.
If you think alligators are scary, you should see the real deal: crocodiles. They'll eat your puny alligators. :p
Huh? Ever since I was a kid, I've always thought alligators were much larger cousins of crocodiles... :/ Well, maybe crocodiles are more ferocious, then. *tries to prevent his world from crashing* But back to the topic, this Frappr thing has made me suddenly very interested about where people live. ;P Although you don't have to worry about me coming to knock on your door... My nearest Otakuite (Mimminx) lives nearly 1000 kms away. XP

Hey, it's good to see this thing in execution. ;D Like I said, this is a really good idea, and it adds a whole lot to the "reality show"-theme. I hope you get all the evicted players to answer you, but don't be encouraged if you don't, okay? Just keep this thing going on. I, for one, will be reading this. ;D (Well, it is my game, really, so I kinda have to.)
-
But I wouldn't tell someone online [hell, anyone who I didn't know online] exactly where I live. Isn't this just a tiny bit cause for concern? You can't exactly control who looks at it, heh.
Now now, aren't you being a tad paranoid? ,:) Even if you put the marker to point your house, all it would tell is that a person who uses a screenname of Baron Samedi lives there. ;P It's not like anybody would break into your house or anything only based on that info. Doesn't almost any house have somebody living in it? What makes your house more special? (Unless it's some fancypants mansion or something...) I know it's sensical to be weary when giving info about yourself in the net, but there's no need to overdo it... X) We aren't that important people, us otakuites. ;P
-
Great link, thanks Raiyuu. ;D Okay, the challenge will go on for a few more days, since I'll be away from my computer for the entire tomorrow. It'll be a hard choice to determine the winners, but I'll be as fair as possible. Hmm, I'm just glad that I don't have to choose the evicted pair... X/ You guys all deserve to be in this competition, you're definitely the top-8. ;D It's been a pleasure to play with all of you, but after this weekend, the Game will go On with just six of you...
Make that four, even though it's not permanant! But seriously, at least Mimmi and Sandy somewhat close to one another. I feel so alone on the map. It's like, bamm! JJ. ;-; I feel alone. Very, very alone.
Actually, geographically you and Rai live closer to each other than me and Mimminx. ;P Although... I think the map is a bit off, especially towards the north pole... I don't remember Finland being that much bigger than e.g. France... :/ Oh well, at least there's space to live here... ;P And I use way too many triple dots... Gotta stop that. Seriously.
I got to Europe first. It's mine now. Get your own continent before I send round the Beefeaters. And Double-Oh-Seven.
Aww... couldn't we share? Can I just keep Finland to myself? Trust me, you wouldn't want this country, it's friggin cold most of the year, and when summer finally comes, it's spoiled by billions of insects. :P So is it a deal? Seriously, I summon thee, all European OB'ers! Let's show that there's still power in the Old Continent! ;D
-
Now I can actually see how alone I am up in the northern half of CA. Yay. :p
Puh-please! I just added myself, being the third European person on the map! :P Well, it'll probably change within the next few days, when more people spot this thread. ;D But this map-thingy really is interesting. I used to think "oh, he's American, so he lives somewhere in the USA", and now I clearly see that it's one huge generalization. Oh, and I can laugh at all the silly names peoples' hometowns have. XP
-
Err, I was starting to think that you thought I was going to start it... If you get my point. XP But no, the race should've started when all four contestants had gained their vehicles, meaning that the fourth pair would've made the starting post. Now it's all the same who does it, just somebody do it! Err, what I mean is, start the race already!!! ;P Oh, and Game On! ;D
-
See, that's the whole point! You won't know when the race is finished until I finish it! ;P The pair that is at first place at that time will then win. Of course I will choose the pair that has posted most frequently with most quality - and don't forget the flashy tricks you can do to your co-racers! >;D So don't worry, it's not going to be random or based on speed, this is just a new type of challenge. You do like variety, don't you? Sakura: as said, it's totally alright for you to change the color of your team. And you're right about the karts as well - they are just for show in this challenge. ;D
-
Okay, I took myself from the neck and posted the next challenge! (Kudos to Baron for posting in-between the challenges! ;D ) Well well, the ninth challenge, Double Dash Survivor Style, brings us a whole new type of contest in a whole new type of situation. It's now two against two against two against two in a race of karts on a rainbow! 8P What comes to the challenge, most important is to cooperate with your partner and keep it imaginative. A new feature is that you can actually fight for your ranking by using all the thingamabobs you find littered at the track - much like in the real game (which I haven't played, btw). Just remember to keep a record of your ranking, and include it after every post. Just type simply: 1. Team ? 2. Team ? 3. Team ? 4. Team ? ...or something along those lines. Speaking of the new "teams", I took the liberty of making up names and colors for the pairs, which you can use if you want to (so you don't necessarily have to). The teams/pairs are: Yuna & Xiaoyu: Team Oriental Beauty (color: pink) Ada & Shadow: Team Kickarse (color: indigo) Mario & Lara: Team Plumber & Plunder (color: seagreen) Crash & Krystal: Team Furry Flurry (color: orange) I tried to make pairs that would be balanced but also interesting. As you may see, there's two pairs have never worked with each others in this challenge. I'm expecting this challenge to flare up your interest to this game again. So let's get the Game back On, okay? ;D

After hearing the familiar alarm calling them, the three remaining members of the Heroes of the Iron Fists stood up, gave a one last glance around the temple that had been their home for some time, and slowly marched towards the teleporter, and the upcoming challenge. At the Lotus Garden, the five Heroines of the Golden Lotus made a promise to see this through with dignity and fair play. Then they bid farewell to the serene silence of the garden, and made their way to the teleporter that would bring them to the CPU.

This is definitely an interesting piece of work, and I can't wait until you bring up the recruitment thread - as I might be signing up myself. ;D Having no "knight-in-the-shining-armor" is the very basis of this game, I think. If there'd be one, this would lose all its originality and appeal. I don't think there's that many "court plotting"-RPGs around anyway. If I get a chance to sign up, I'd probably want to play the Princess, or a mute Jester (oh noes, a mime!) who witnesses all the events, but has a hard time getting involved in them because of his/her status. One question: what does the title of this RPG has to do with... well, anything? Anyway, great job, Satori! ;D
-
But what about the upcoming merger? What feelings does the characters have about their position in the game? Aren't the players interested/concerned in what will happen to them when its every character for itself? Where's the ambition, the will to win?! :/ See, there's plenty of stuff to post about in-between challenges. ;D
-
Alrighty, I'm putting an end to the challenge very soon. The challenge was intensely tied, even though on normal circumstances I would've put Heroines as the winners, but as the situation goes, the Heroines will lose for their first time, and Samus Aran will get evicted automatically. Desbreko, you'll be joining the already lenght of evicted players out of your own will. Again, thanksies muchies for playing! After this, the game can go on for real. ;D EDIT: I would post the next challenge at the start of the next week if people posted to the game thread. Seriously, are you guys getting fed up with this game? :/ I know it has lasted for a long time, but we're passed the midpoint, and things will get more intense with the upcoming merger. I can reveal this much about the next challenge: expect a BIG twist. And I'm not talking about splitting up into individual contestants, not yet. ;D Feel free to speculate. ;P

Mog the Moogle was standing in the middle of the monumental Cochrane Dam, watching three figures running towards him at high speed, chased by the army tanks. "Kupo, I think we have a winner... And they are the Heroes of the Iron Fists!" Shadow, Mario and Crash waved their hands in the air when they realized that they had finally won. It didn't take long enough for the girls to arrive and realize their defeat. "Sorry to say this, Heroines of the Golden Lotus, but you came second. This challenge is now over, kupo! Let's return to the CPU, shall we?" Mog gave a worried glance at the Liberty City Police Forces gathering around the dam. The contestants looked at the host in disbelief - the challenge had been all real! "Uhh, we better be quick about it, kupoo..." Rapidly the nine survivors followed the moogle through the teleporter and into the blueness of the CPU. > "Alrighty, the result is clear, and you, Heroes, may return to the Temple of Warriors to rejoice in your victory. But you will also have to bid farewell to that place, as when the next challenge begins, you won't be returning there. Also, I'd like to congratulate all three of you for making it to the last level of this game, kupo!" "What comes to you, Heroines... You'll face your first and last Team Council as this team. Kupociously, it's time to vote." After all six female contestants had casted their votes, Mog announced the result. "Kupo, the tenth contestant voted out of OtakuBoards Survivor: Game On! is..." Samus Aran The futuristic warrior started to disperse into data. "I'm aware that I'm a loner at heart, yet I want to say that I've thoroughly enjoyed playing this game with you girls. Take care, and may the best woman win, right?" Lara, Xiaoyu, Krystal, Ada and Yuna wiped off their tears and shouted in unison: "Rrright!" With a one final smile, Samus was gone. "Kupo, it's time for you five to go say goodbye to the Lotus Garden. Then wait for my contact which will happen soon, kupo. And congrats for you all as well for making it to the final eight. Keep the Game On!"

Oh yeah, that too... Didn't get it from the first glance. ;P I still stand by my words, though. Great cuddly graphics, but the story needs some development. Some texts couldn't hurt, either, although I'm not sure to what age-group your aiming that book to. It's a bit too complex for toddlers, and a bit too simple for preschoolers. Definately could use some texts... ;D
-
Well, the future professional upbringer in me says that the book hasn't got much pedagogic meaning in it (besides the obvious "friend in need is a friend indeed"). However, I understand that this isn't meant for the real thing (in the hands of small children), so I have to only raise my inexistant hat for your imaginative and vivid graphics. ;D With a good writer to work with, I believe you could actually illustrate real children's books! Take it from the soon-to-be-pro. ;D

In my opinion Mama Naturaleza's worst mistake was letting apes evolve into us humans. :P Seriously, just think how different the world would be without us "intelligent and superior beings"! At least more peaceful and green, for one... Ah well, on the other hand I wouldn't want that, because of course then I wouldn't exist either. And man would that suck. XP I think we just have to put up with Mother Nature, just like she has to put up with us. ;D
-
So, win or lose for the Heroines, I'd like to withdraw after this challenge if that's alright. If we lose, I imagine I'd be the one to get voted off anyway. . . . And if we still win, well, I think the Heroes could use a break. :p
I'm sorry to hear that, Des, but it's obviously your choice... :/ You made it as far as possible without winning in the FFS, so you already have an admirable past in the Survivor series. Too bad this one didn't go as well for your part... Eh, I'm just saying so be it. Thanks for playing, anyway! ;D To the rest of you, please take the challenge to the end, despite this unfortunate event. I'll take responsibility for writing out Samus Aran. Gotta keep the Game On!
-
Sure, the default abilities of your characters are of course at your dispose as well. I didn't quite get that other part about the Pay'n'Spray... Hmm, if you want money, you can probably mug some pedestrians to get it, but I really don't think you need it. If you need a new car, just steal one. There's no need to be so strict with the real game's mechanics. ;D

The eight challenge, GTA: City of Survivors, has commenced! As said, I had to choose between two not-so-original ideas, and this one came on top. This is a test of your teamplay, creativity and arse-kicking abilities. ;D Your criminal tendencies will be put on show as well - just don't get too wild and start to eliminate your rivals, okay? ;P The challenge will go on until next Wednesday, although I'm naturally ready to change that based on when each team reaches the goal. Just remember that this isn't as much a race against the other team as it is against the city. Have fun, and Game On!
