1.
Indeed, that was my big concern too, I'm just hoping we make it out of the Temple of Sol again despite our relative predicaments.
But you aren't in the Temple of Sun/Sol/Aton/whatever. :/ Only the eleven participants of the Body Bags were sent there to my knowledge. Hmm, I'm wondering if the demonic presence deep within the temple has anything to do with the priest who claimed to be the "son of Aton", or was it only a coincident that the man chose the temple as his base... PS. in case some of you don't know what "Aton" is, it's an Egyptian sun-god, or matter-of-factly the sun disc itself, that was worshipped by a pharaoh that announced Aton to be the only god during his reign.
2. The Phlegethon had caused the death of one of Melinoë's team members, the invisible one. As she walked with the remains of the group - nine of them were still alive - she was constantly on alert. The whip attached to her hip was silent, but she didn't trust it, not anymore. Out of nowhere, a disfigured beast that was all claws and fangs charged towards the team. The Legionnaires retaliated quickly, and the monstrosity blew apart. "What was that?" the mechanical man asked. "I don't know", Melinoë responded. Whatever it was, she still sensed it's presence. "It's still here." While the others were still talking about the monster - the idiots - Melinoë backed up and dashed to the direction where they came from. She wasn't going to stay and fight an immortal being! She heard the cries of her colleagues behind her - the beast had respawned - but didn't stop. Suddenly the floor under her collapsed, and she fell into darkness. Melinoë landed on a pile of... something dry, like wooden branches. She couldn't see anything but the hole where she had fallen from quite far above her. Without thinking, she picked up one of the twigs, and saw that she was in fact holding a human bone. She threw it away and stood up, grinding the ancient skeletons she was standing on to dust. "Ugh! This must be the place where the Cult dumped all the rebels among them." she thought aloud. "No..." a whispering voice said from the darkness. "They belong to my collection. Care to join them?" She felt it now. For the first time in her life, she felt fear. She grabbed the Phlegethon, but her hands shook too much and she dropped it. She began sweating. The black side of her body was hot, like burning, while her humane skin was freezing cold. "W-what's happening to me?!" she shouted, but the words came out only as a suffocated whisper. Then she saw a light before her, like a burning serpent. The Phlegethon had awoken by itself again.
3. I'm stressing the use of imagination here, guys! ;D You don't necessarily have to kill your opposing dragon, just maybe trick it to give the princess back. And remember, the princesses are expecting to see a heroic group of valiant knights, not a rag-tag team of videogame characters, so maybe they turn out to be more difficult to handle than the dragons... ,:D I'm looking forward to see what your twisted little minds come up with. ;P
4. I'm sorry Des, but having played no Zelda-games myself, I had no idea what the dragons (I knew there would be dragons, cause every game has them) would be like in them... X( So, I went a little nutsy, and put Bubble & Bobble to guard princess Zelda. I see a major chance for humorous posts here. ;D Oh, and KKC, might I suggest that you leave the two members who have posted least out? ..Oh, I just checked the situation, and noticed that while Shinji has posted the least, you and Baron are tied on the post amount. So never mind then! Everybody: if the decisions take much time, I'm willing to move the "deadline" for this challenge until Thursday. But let's just see how this starts up...
5. Hey, this is actually a quite useful and fun thread! Hopefully the mods don't see this as spammy, with the non-existent discussion... :/ To cut to the chase, I'm Sami, 21 years old male from Finland, currently living in Lahti (also known as the City of Winter Sports). I study Social Care at Lahti Polytechnic, where I also met my beloved boyfriend. We've been steady for over six months now, and you can read all the details on that from my myOtaku pages. ;D What comes to siblings, I have one full older sister, and two half-brothers from my mother's side and two half-sisters from my father's side. Here at OB you can most likely find me nowadays at the Arena, where I'm hosting my third OB Survivor RPG (shortcuts in my signature). I've been a member here for 3 years and 9 months, and in that time I've met loads of great people, but I'm always open for new buddies. ;D
6. I think you'd be better off discussing about the job classes, so that everybody are in consensus. You can do it in this thread, by PM's or whatever way you ever want. Or if you can't come to a conclusion, you can always ask me to decide. ;D Remember though, that although there are six choices for jobs, only four per party can be chosen, so no "double-jobs" to anybody, okay? EDIT: there are now six jobs to choose from: knight, wizard, healer, thief, bard and hunter.
7.
I imagine it will spread out to the whole group slowly, but it's up to the individual player to decide if and how it will effect them. -Shy
Erhm, whoopsie... I actually made it affect all players at once in my post... X/ But I reckon it's only a temporary condition at this point. I just needed to get everybody scattered, as the mission description required. Hope everybody's content with my initiative...
8. The fourth challenge, an RPG-based Damsels & Dragons, has begun! Each team must now form a party of four people, each with a different job (details in the game thread). This means that the Blue Team must also choose who will participate to this contest. I will judge each of your performance by the use of imagination and co-operation inside teams. Because all four party members have a different purpose, it is obvious that teamplay is necessary. The challenge will continue until next Wednesday, after which two more players will get evicted from the two losing teams.
9. Once again the teleporters summoned the contestants to warp to the CPU. After all three teams had arrived, Mog the Moogle appeared with a cart full of extraordinary costumes and accessories. "Kupo greetings, survivors! It's time for your fourth challenge. This competition will teach your teamplay as well as your imagination. Only four people from each team will join this one, kupo, so Adventurers, you need to sit two people out before you begin." "Kupo, the name of the game is... Damsels & Dragons. Here are the rules:"
1. The objective is to save a famous princess from a tower guarded by an equally famous dragon, kupo. 2. To do that, each team must form a party of four, kupo. Each member of that party will get one specific job class with special abilities. 3. The three parties will each head towards a different tower, kupo, but the journey to the destination is filled with countless perils. 4. Once the party reaches the tower, they must defeat the dragon and save the princess, kupo. After that, I, Mog the Moogle, will judge each party's performance and announce the winner.
"Each team will form the party of four from the job classes listed below, kupo. Keep in mind that one party can have only one job each."
Knight: a warrior with formidable strength; carries a sword and a shield; wears a heavy armor. Wizard: a caster of devastating magic spells; uses a staff; wears a flowing robe. Healer: a cleric with the power to cure; doesn't have a weapon; dresses in a priestly cloak. Thief: a criminal that can steal any treasure and pick all locks; wields multiple daggers; has a black hooded outfit. Hunter: an archer who has high precision; uses a bow and arrows; wears a green tunic and a quiver. Bard: a musician with an enchanting voice; carries a harp; has gaudy clothes with a feathered hat.
"And kupo, here are each teams destinations, princesses and dragons:" Adventurers of the Blue Feather - Sapphire Tower Princess Peach guarded Bowser Bravers of the Red Sword - Ruby Tower Princess Zelda guarded by Bubble & Bobble Legends of the Green Gem - Emerald Tower Princess Sarah guarded by Bahamut "Now, this cart behind me is filled with the costumes and weapons for the aforementioned six jobs, kupo, three sets of each. Before I send you on your way, each team must decide which team member will have which job. Please answer as soon as possible, kupo!" "Survivors ready? Game On!"
10. "Who are we missing?" Unhate asked quietly. Melinoë looked around at the rag-tag group, but couldn't pinpoint the absent one. She didn't know many, even by their names. She hadn't been very social in the flight back to this hellhole. The huntress couldn't believe she had to return to the Temple of Aton so quickly after the Gold Team's previous mission. Apparently there was some unfinished business here... business that was now blowing up to their faces. "It's the girl, gal, lass, miss!" a female voice said. "Speedy." "I knew it! Too reckless!" someone else said. "She should have never gone with us, she was too young!" another woman said. "Yes Liquid, she was young, but far from innocent", the leader, Kaida, snapped. "The Arbiter knew what he was doing when he sent her with us." "We'll continue", Unhate said in his affirming voice. "Let's take the other way down." The group walked up to a crossing of corridors, and walked down another tunnel. "I can sense it", Melinoë thought. "Something malicious stirring down below. Something... familiar." She didn't recognise the feeling right away, but then she realized that she had seen it in the faces of all her victims, in their bewildered stare, the sweat oozing from under their skin, gasping breath... It was fear. This gave Melinoë confidence. She had never felt fear in her life. This was because fear was what she was. She knew how to control it, how to use it to her advantage. She felt safe. Nevertheless, Melinoë was no fool. She took her demonic whip Phlegethon from her belt. She was ready for anything. Suddenly somebody started screaming. Then another one. The boy with the powers of a spider climbed up the wall in panic. Soon the whole group howled and wept around Melinoë. Some of them ran up the corridor, some down. The air was thick with the sensation of fear. Melinoë stood there, looking at the other Legionnaires around her, pitying them. Then she realized that the Phlegethon, the whip she had received from her mother Nemesis, started rising by itself. She turned to look at it, and saw how the curved sickle at the end of the chain sliced through the air - aiming for her neck. With her supernatural reflexes, she dropped the whip from her hands and dropped to the ground, the blade missing her by inches. She couldn't believe it. She had lost control of the whip!
11. Yay, the Body Bags finally launched! I just can't help wondering what is going on, though... Are the invited players going on a suicide mission, where only few of them will return? And who exactly are the invited players, couldn't there be like a list or something somewhere? The opening of the Body Bags cleared up the Gold Team's previous mission's purpose a bit, but it still feels a little odd that despite Melinoë's unforeseen behaviour and uncontrollable powers, the Arbiter still didn't give any thought to her... It was also left open whether the character Joseph actually died during the Gold Team's mission because his player (Break, was it?) didn't post at all. You didn't say anything about that, Shy. I know this is a bit selfish to be asking about these rather secondary things that happened in the Gold Team's mission, but I'm concerned because there has been no discussion one way nor the other... :/ I just need to know if they have any effect on the main storyline? EDIT: Meh, never mind, got the PM anyway... XP
12.
Also, if homosexuals are gay and heterosexuals are strait, what are bisexuals? bi is dumb, we should have some kind of weird title too! >:O
Those are just nicknames for the longer terms. In Finnish there's no corresponding word to "gay" or "straight", it's just "homo" and "hetero". Bisexuals are "bi" for short, you can't change it yourself so just suck it up. ;P And please, I shouldn't have to tell you this because English is your native language and not mine, but it's straight, not strait! Strait is a big canal, like the Gibraltar or Bering, not sexuality! :P
13. Hey, I'm waiting for the Body Bags probably as eagerly as you are, DDG, and my head is definitely on the chopping block. ;P At this point I'll probably be just as happy if I'm cut out as if I stay, because at least something is happening in the game...
14.
Because the reasoning also supports beastiality as well as autosexuality (getting turned on by yourself or preferring masturbation). And that's a double standard - well, unless you actually find those as ok (which brings a whole array of other problems). Double standards indicate a flaw in fundamental reasoning (i.e., something is wrong with your conclusion and/or rationale). Just to play devil's advocate. ^^ *throws wood into fire and runs like hell*
Hello? Thinking that self-satisfaction is wrong is so last millennium. :P What problems does masturbation bring anyway, if I may ask? ,:) Besides, almost all men (besides asexuals) do that, wether they're straight, gay or bi. And I have no idea what bestiality means in this context. Isn't it human/animal sex? :/ There's rarely a concensus on sex in those "relationships"... I really see no double-standardism in gay sex itself. In reality, it doesn't differ very much from heterosexual intercourse - there's just no risk of getting knocked up. ;D
15. Deucalion and Unborn Lord Xion, you both have been eliminated from the game. You both can now leave a goodbye post to this thread, if you will. As for the votes, I received one from each contestants very quickly, which was a really good thing. The Red Team's votes divided unequally between Deucalion (4) and Outlaw (1), while the Green Team had more division with ULX (3) and Kitty (2). Remember that there's nothing personal behind all these votes - it's just a part of the game. But I'm sure all of you were very aware about that when you first signed-up. ;D Gotta Keep The Game On!
16. Both the Green Team and the Red Team voted in a tensed silence. After everybody had cast their votes, Mog the Moogle went and tallied them. "The results are clear, kupo. Two out of you ten will get deleted tonight." "Bravers of the Red Sword, the one leaving you now is..." Dante "No! This can't be!" Dante howled, as he slowly dispersed into particles of data. Kuja from the other team couldn't help grinning maliciously. "Legends of the Green Gem, your next goer is..." Riku The vanishing Riku took out Squishy the Heartless Lemming from his pocket. "You're coming with me!" The lemming squeaked happily and soon the two of them were gone. "This is the spirit of this game, kupo - fail as a team and one will suffer the consequences. You eight remaining contestants from the two unkupo teams can now return to your camps. We'll see again in few days, when the fourth challenge will commence, kupo! Waiting for that, keep the Game On!"
17. I now have all the votes, and it's clear which two players will leave this game shortly. However, I can't announce that in the game thread, because I was the last to post, and double-posting is prohibited. So, I'd like to ask someone from the blue team to post next. With the results clear so soon, it is most likely that the next challenge will already begin this Saturday. Stay tuned for that, too!
18. Attimus: Yes, there has actually been wide researches on animal homosexuality, and it has been witnessed to exist among many species - especially mammals. Google it to find out more, if you will. Also, I only responded to your argument that sex is only meant for breeding (a medieval conception, by the way, that has little base in modern western society). Obviously two guys or two girls can't have children in their sexual relationship, so is it wrong then for them/us to make love? Especially when most heterosexual couples also do it "for fun". Don't be a double-standardist, please! And when you are disgusted by your friends' homosexuality, you are not just appalled by what they do, but also who they are. Sex is a natural thing to all lifeforms, and to expect somebody to live in selibacy just because you're grossed out by the act shows uttermost neglection and disrespect - not to mention it makes you look stuck-up and proud. You say you aren't judging anybody, but actually you're doing it constantly! Gay sex doesn't hurt anybody, it has no consequences if proper protection is used, and the love between two guys or girls can be just as affectionate as "straight love" - trust me, a dating gay guy, on that - so why are you so bothered by it?! Can't you just let everybody be who they are, without condemning or moralizing? If you're a Christian, then you should be aware that Jesus taught people to love, not judge. Besides, that part where one must stone gay guys to death is taken from the Old Testament, from the laws of a long-lost nation. Why should that one part of the law still apply to our society, when the numerous others (about eating and hygiene and slaves, etc.) don't?
19. Doukeshi: no, there really isn't much interaction between teams, but frett not; when the number of players has dropped to twelve, the three teams will merge into two. And that happens sooner than you'd think, because after the next challenge, this competition will only have twelve contestants. ;D Imi: in case you haven't noticed, I'm from Europe as well, so I do not think the time zones work as a disadvantage to your team or the others either. Besides, you had four days time to post to this challenge, so you can't really blame on the lack of time either. The blue team was just more active, that's all. ;) I do not believe that the blue team will win every challenge in this game - especially since there won't be any blue team (nor red nor green) after the next challenge. ;P Solo: it's not entirely certain wether you will have to sit out two of your members to the next challenge, because I really haven't decided which of my various predetermined challenges I will choose to be the next one. I try to pick contests that will require different attributes from the teams; the first was obviously quick wits, the second demanded humour and participation, the latest teamwork and activity. Who knows what the fourth challenge will require? Remember that there'll ultimately be only one winner, a sole survivor. The player who shows capacity in all these attributes will most probably be the one. ;)
20. Save that last tip for the next challenge, Wraith, cause Mushroomania is over. The winners, again, are the Adventurers, with their seamless teamwork - each one of you posted, and each one of you posted often. Nice job! Not-so-closely behind them were the Legends, and the team with the least points was Bravers. Both of you will have to vote another member out from your team. This challenge was about dedication to this game and your team, and some of you players showed quite much lack of it. But I hope that all teams will enter the next challenge with even more enthusiasm and vigor - don't let the losses put you down! ;D Anyways, you know what to do, green and red teams; PM me with your votes by the end of this week. Next challenge will commence either on Sunday or Monday. Game On, y'all!
21. Suddenly the "Game Over" tune blared everywhere around the Mushroom Kingdom. "Over already?!" Ada Wong gasped in amazement. "Aw crap, I was on a roll!" Shadow cussed. Mario took off his cap and sighed. "Well-a, it was-a nice to visit-a home even for a short while-a." The teams gathered back to their teleporters, but found some trouble with everybody being about four times as tall as they had been upon arrival. With a loud pop, Mog appeared before them. The moogle shrunk in front of sixteen giants. "Kupoah! Now I really feel myself small, kupo! Let's just try to squeeze ourselves to the CPU now."
22. But Attimus, you simply can't say that something is wrong "because it's wrong"! That is a very lame excuse for homophobia. I think you have gained the level of homophobia, where you think that us homosexuals are just humans like the rest, but you still seem to think that we are a bit nutty or perverted, when all that we are really doing is what nature intended. Not everybody are suppossed to have kids, there are already too many people spoiling this planet as it is. I don't think it's very respectful towards your friends to act approving, and then say behind their backs that what they really are is disgusting... :/ Oh, and please do not resort to flaming (ie. calling people names), we're trying to have a decent conversation here.
23. I hope you are just being sarcastic, Drix... X/ Otherwise it'd be good for you to know that not all moral values are dictated by the Bible. I don't believe in the Bible's message, yet the thought that killing is wrong comes naturally to me. Yes, I'm aware that there are loads of twisted, sadistic bastards out there who get their kicks out of warmongering and suffering of others, but hey, as long as we sensible people don't let them get in power, everything should be alright, right? Peace out!
24. ...Except peace cannot be achieved by war. Those who think so have a pretty screwed way of thinking. It's not even about "end justifying the means", because war has never brought anything to any nation but hatred, sorrow, vengefulness, oppression and unequality. Honestly, taking a recent example, who can call the situation in Afghanistan or Iraq a "peace"?
25. Oh, I didn't mean break up, either! I meant spending a few days or a week apart - after that you realize just how lucky you are that you're not alone anymore. ;D
