1. The challenge's going great guys, keep it up! ;D I especially love how some people are using their special skills to their advantage. It's good to see the players that have posted the least as well. Statistics reveal that everybody has posted at least twice to the game thread (not that it matters much to me; I just want people to have fun!). Unborn Lord Xion: I think I'll let Riku keep Squishy for future fun. ;D
2. In case you haven't noticed, most of the guns the characters carry have already been used in the posts, and that's totally cool with me. ;D I'm just seeking amusing posts here, so all means are accepted (limitated by the rules, of course). EDIT: Everybody, keep a good track with your teams' Lemmingcounter! There's already few confusions in the game thread, mostly in the Blue Team. I suggest in your future posts you put the Lemmingcounter in your team's respective color. ( for the Adventurers, for the Bravers and for the Legends, if you didn't catch what I meant.)
3. Heh, don't worry - of course you have to depend on other people to post as well, but I ment to be braver in your own posts. Oh, and you really don't have to follow the mechanics of the actual game, but if you want to know, the umbrellas make the Lemmings float slowly down from places that are too high. There's also a way to stop a Lemming in front of a ledge to turn the others to a different direction (and avoiding a fall to their death), but once you stop a Lemming, you can't make it move again but you have to blow it up. Sad but true... :/ But really, in this game the use of imagination is preferred to being authentic to the games. So you can't go wrong with just trying your best. ;D
4. Oh, I forgot to add that it really doesn't matter what the Lemmingcounter says when the challenge ends, as I will have the final say in it. If a team with poor posting still has like Lemmings left, I can easily drop it to zero. So feel free to kill the wee critters in most amusing and imaginative ways to ensure your victory. ;D Nice start, Outlaw. And Sakura, be more brave in your posts, don't depend so much on others. I'll evaluate the progress of the game in Wednesday, so the conclusion might be postponed if the situation requires it, but please try to make your posts by Wednesday. Game On!
5. Well, as you can see from the picture in the game thread, the Lemmingbane Dungeon is full of hazards for a locomotive little furball like the Lemmings: there's flames, drills, gaps, drops, traps - all sorts of things that will get a Lemming killed. Add a suicidal behaviour of the Lemmings, and you got yourself a challenge. ;D Lemmings can dig, climb and even float when instructed, but they just prefer to walk to their death, never stopping... That game is seriously one of the most twisted games ever made. If you want to see for yourself, you can always download the game from www.abandonia.com (go to the Puzzle-games section and you'll find it).
6. The second challenge, Lemmingsitters, has just begun. The objective in the game is to protect the Lemmings so that the least possible amount of the suicidal critters dies. In reality, I expect you to write as humorous posts as possible, telling about the ordeal that your characters have to go through when trying to babysit the Lemmings. I expect most of the Lemmings to die from each team, just don't let the Lemmingcounter drop to zero. The winning team will be the one with the most amusing posts, but of course activity counts here as well. A team with only one player posting cannot expect to win, no matter how funny that one person's posts are. The challenge will continue for a couple of days, I'll announce the winner in Wednesday, after which two teams will be sent to the Team Council. If any questions rise, feel free to send them here. Good luck with the competition, evebullibody! PS. I still emphasize that all out-of-character discussion, questions and planning should either happen in this thread or by private messages, and not in the actual game thread. Thankies!
7. The three teams of contestants were doing whatever videogame characters do early in the morning when eah of their teleporters started to howl a high-pitched screech and flash a purple light. In the Solitary Island, Lara Croft gathered her teammates to the teleporter: "Come on now, lads and lasses. It's Game On!" In the Liberty Tower, Ling Xiaoyu was the first at the teleporter: "Yippee, it's showtime! Hurry up, people!" In the Arcadian Airship, renamed the Fahrenheit, Riku and Sora were having a heated debate in the same cabin where the teleporter had been located, when it suddenly started making an intolerable noise. "Sora, go fetch the others. We have been summoned..." "Why don't you do it, Riku? You're always bossing me around!" "Just go, will you?!"
8. So Adventurers, a spying mirror it is? Is this your final decision? Oh, and Raiyuu, you are not allowed to exit your Liberty Tower appartment. You may even find out that there is no way out except jumping out of the window (which will delete the character immediately). That's something to survive with. ;D
9. Doukeshi: your island does have small huts or other accomodations (whatever you choose), but you can also use your reward to change the huts for a castle. Sakura: if you've read the text above the picture of the airship, you'd have already gotten your answer. ;D ("- plies the Skies of Arcadia.") Also, I couldn't find a suitable picture of an airship from the actual SoA-game, so I had to settle with the airship of FF XII (named The Strahl, btw.) But it's only the picture. Besides, none of the teams are allowed to leave their camp places in any other way than the teleporters, so it doesn't really matter what world you are in.
10.
So why not an art thread, like the one you started for the Legionnaires?
Sure, you are free to create one yourself if you'd like. I'm sure several contestants would use it. ;) And what comes to the Adventurer's prize, think big. Think beyond guns and ladders, make a whole new invention if you have to - you can do it. Remember that you are in a game world where everything and anything is possible. ;D
11. Ahem... These are videogame characters we're talking about, you honestly think they need food or bathrooms? :P Don't be so realistic, people! KKC: the luxury item can really be whatever you choose, but it would be wise if you chose something that would be useful in the upcoming contests, right?
12. Actually, the airship in the picture I sent is from FFXII, not SOA. There really isn't an "Arcadian Airship", I just wanted to add a link to that game to make it perhaps easier to guess. You can really rename it to whatever you want. You can also fly around with it, but you are not allowed to leave it except for the challenges and the Team Councils. I have no idea what the teleporters look like, you can freely use your imagination, and every teleporter can look different from each other. And what comes to the Team Council, the rules say that in the phase where there is three teams, two losing teams will go there and vote one member off. Also, activity in this game is only a big plus, as it keeps the game going. Without the effort of Ginny and Des in the FF Survivor, it would probably have died before the end. So you're doing nothing wrong, Sakura. ;D ... Except, please don't put out-of-character text to the game thread, but send it all here. This goes to all of you. The reason is I want to keep the game clean from all deviations from the actual play. Mog House was created for free-flowing discussion between the players, and all questions about the game itself. Is this okay?
13. Your questions will be answered if you check my latest post at the game thread, Des. ;D And don't worry, as I said this was just a warm up challenge, as I didn't want to just give the teams their camping places straightforwardly. And it seemed that those of you who managed to participate to this challenge enjoyed it. But there won't be much if any speed challenges in the future, I promise. But there also won't be any challenges where nobody will get booted, so that's the downside. The next challenge will begin probably on Monday, so for now you all can just enjoy your new homes, and Adventurers can decide what luxurious thing they want to their island as a reward. (You can very well use this thread as a forum, btw.) Heh, the next challenge will be quite something else... XD It will mainly test your ability to write humorous text, but I won't make it hard for you as it will be a very humorous challenge. ;D EDIT: Sakura, I forgot to write it to the game thread, but you will have your teleporters as a way to move from your home to the CPU. And the Solitary Island that the Adventurers got isn't a big one. ;)
14. **Mog frowns upon all this kupo out-of-character discussion and points to the Mog House** Mog felt proud that he had gathered such an intelligent bunch of contestants, for the answers to the riddles came like a Shoopuf stung by a Bite Bug. "Very good, kupo, very good!" "Adventurers, you were the fastest one to solve your puzzle, kupo. The answer really was Solitary Island, located in the middle of the Sea of Stereotypes, and that's were you are headed now, kupo." "Bravers, you came closely to the second place, kupo. Your new abode will be a penthouse in the Liberty Tower, a famous skyscraper in Liberty City. Kupo, well done!" "Legends, you failed to increase your speed stat, but you still managed to get the right answer, kupo. You will be staying at the Arcadian Airship, plying the Skies of Arcadia." "Now, as a reward for winning, Adventurers can choose any kupo luxury item for their island, but only one. I suggest the team would negotiate on what they want, kupo, because it can be something that will benefit them in the future challenges." "Take your time to decide, Adventurers, but be aware that the next challenge - one after which two contestants will leave the game for good - will begin in just few days, kupo!" "Now each team will get a teleporter that will take you to your new homes, kupo. The teleporters will also bring you back here when the time comes. But now go and get comfy in your new camping places for the next few months, kupo!" "Kupo, and remember to keep the Game On!"
15. Alright, since the green team is struggling with their answer, I'll give you a hint: use an anagram generator (google it to find one). It might not give you a direct answer, but it'll get you very close. ;D
16. Yes, I'm glad the game started, as well. ;D However, in a hurry I apparently made a mistake to my post in the game thread. Bravers' clue should have only one "L", so yes, Liberty Tower is correct, Outlaw. However, the Adventurers beat you to it, for they solved their answer, Solitary Island, first. Now we just have to wait until the last team, Legends, gets their answer. Sakura: yes, those places revealed from the clue are in fact the teams' homeplaces for the time being. I'll add pictures once I conclude the challenge. Doukeshi: I had to put Mario to the green team simply because I needed even number of players to each team. Plus, Mario has his own RPG's as well. Also, I had to put Lara into the blue team, because there was already six characters that were more clearly from action games. Hope this answers your question! ;D
17. Mog the Moogle fluttered above the eighteen contestants, carrying a pink megaphone of his own size. "KUPO!!" he shouted into the megaphone to get attention. Seventeen heads and one ball turned up. "Sorry about that, kupo. Now that all you eighteen survivors have arrived, I'd like to wish you kupoly welcome to the OtakuBoards Survivor: Game On!" Most of the contestants burst into applaudes. "Each of you received a kupo item with the teleporter that took you here. The same item was given to characters from the same game-genre. There are three types of them: six green gems for the RPG characters, six red swords for the charaters from action games, and six blue feathers for platformer and adventure game characters." "As some of you have guessed, kupo, you will be divided into three teams according to the items you hold. Here are the teams, kupo." Adventurers of the Blue Feather Crash Bandicoot - Fox McCloud - Krystal - Lara Croft - PacMan - Shadow the Hedgehog Bravers of the Red Sword Ada Wong - Carl Johnson - Dante - Mitsurugi - Samus Aran - Ling Xiaoyu Legends of the Green Gem Kuja - Link - Mario Mario - Riku - Sora - Yuna "Kupo, hope you enjoy your current team! Now, you're probably wondering where you will lodge during the game, kupo, because CPU will not be that place, kupo. Just to make it more interesting, you will have to figure it out in the first challenge, kupo!" "The name of the game is... Scrabble Home Edition!" "Here are the rules, kupo:"
1. This is a warm-up challenge, so nobody will go to the Team Council after this, kupo. 2. This challenge is also a fast one, kupo; the first team to solve their camping place will win. 3. The objective is to make a kupo word out of the string of letters given to each team. There is only one right answer to each puzzle. 4. The winning team will get to choose one kupo luxury item (like a jacuzzi or a sports field etc.) to their home camp, kupo. 5. Further questions and out-of-character discussion are directed to the Mog House, kupo.
"And here are the kupo clues:" Adventurers: AADIILLNORSSTY and one space Bravers: BEEILORRTTWY and one space Legends: AAAACDHIIINPRRS and one space "You can begin solving the clues immediately, kupo. Survivors ready? Game On!"
18.
... But, I wouldn't put it past Sandy to mix things up just to throw us off. :p
Oh please! I'm not that clever... ;P As to what comes to the items and teams, you'll just have to hold your horses until all eighteen players have introduced themselves in the game thread. ,:) Eep, I was supposed to be away! Heh, I'm just about to leave. Will be back in approximately 15 hours. Ta!
19. Sorry, no team leaders are included, as this game is already complex enough without them. ;D As said in the rules, if a voting ends up in a tie situation, it will be solved by the winning team, or when the game is in the last phase, the player with the immunity. I have a little announcement to make: I will be away for most of tomorrow, returning late at the evening (local time). So don't miss me while I'm gone, okay? ;P (Cause I'll be back!)
20. I thought about giving time until this Friday. There's no rush, of course, but it'd be nice to get this thing rolling asap. If the five remaining players don't appear by then, I'll contact the applicants who didn't make it to the game. But let's just hope I don't have to resort to that.
21. Well, if you look at the past OB Survivors, challenges require different type of tasks to be done. The most basic - and most widely used - one is that the team who writes best/funniest posts wins. Other objectives can be writing most often, knowing correct answers, having the best teamplay - whatever my twisted mind comes up with. ;D If a team doesn't post or posts only crappy one-liners, or break the rules or cheat, they will most likely lose. The ultimate judge is of course me, I will decide the winners and the losers, but I have no say in the "deletion" process. But the main goal for the players is to have fun, and enjoy the twists of the game. I'll do my best to help everybody achieve that goal. ;D
22. Oh, I'm sorry, but OB Survivor keeps my hands full for a long long time! I'd advice you to seek help from the Anime Lounge instead, there's lots of knowledgeable people there who are really into anime. Your test doesn't even sound like an RPG really, so yeah, you're better off heading to the AL. ;D
23. Well, my tip for you is NOT to create one just yet. If you really have no idea what to do, go join somebody else's RPG, there's plenty of them around. Once you get a hang of things, you should feel more comfortable on creating your own game. So hold your horses and take it easy, you'll get there eventually. ;D
24. Welcome to the Mog House, an off-game discussion thread of the sparkling new RPG of mine, OtakuBoards Survivor: Game On! The game itself (click here!)has just launched at the Adventure Square, and PMs are sent to all of the eighteen contestants who made it in out of thousands and thousands (okay, thirty) applicants. I personally expect this game to last through the whole winter, with some nice twists and turns to keep the game fresh. So this is a really long project, but I hope it will be worthwhile. Just to keep everybody updated, I'll post here the list of current players:
[strike]Aizen as "Dante"[/strike] [strike]Baron Samedi as "Crash Bandicoot"[/strike] [strike]Blayze as "Shadow the Hedgehog"[/strike] [strike]Desbreko as "Samus Aran"[/strike] [strike]Doukeshi as "Lara Croft"[/strike] [strike]Ezekiel as "Kuja"[/strike] [strike]JimiWiggy11 as "Mitsurugi"[/strike] [strike]JJ as "Ada Wong"[/strike] [strike]Kitty as "Sora"[/strike] [strike]KKC as "Fox McCloud"[/strike] [strike]Outlaw as "Carl Johnson"[/strike] Raiyuu as "Ling Xiaoyu" [strike]Rapture Ruckus as "Pac-Man"[/strike] [strike]Sakura as "Yuna"[/strike] [strike]Sinistra as "Link"[/strike] [strike]Solo Tremaine as "Krystal"[/strike] [strike]Unborn Lord Xion as "Riku"[/strike] [strike]White as "Mario Mario"[/strike]
This list can change still, as perhaps some of these contestants won't have the will to participate in the game, in which case I'll contant one of the applicants who didn't make it in. Anyway, as mentioned in the actual game thread, this "Mog House" is meant for all out-of-character discussion and questions about the game. I will do my best to answer all worries and problems either in this thread or by PMs. This is it for now, so GAME ON! PS. I'll so need a rehabilitation out of the excessive use of "kupo" after this game! XP
25. Welcome to the wondrous world of videogames, where anything can happen and everything is possible! A great event is about to begin, one that will bring together characters from every gaming genre. It is the ultimate game, where there is only one winner. The name of the game is OtakuBoards Survivor: Game on! Here comes your devilishly cute host: Mog the Moogle! ?Kupo! Welcome everybody! This is the beginning of a long journey for eighteen brave and legendary adventurers! During the next months the number of those eighteen will gradually drop, until there is only one who will claim the kupo title of the Ultimate Videogame Survivor! The game starts now, so GAME ON! Kupo!? ?We are now here at the CPU, which is the center of all the kupo events in this competition. This is a portal to all the videogame worlds where the weekly challenges will be held. Here the weekly Team Counsils will take place as well. This is also the place where the eighteen contestants will shortly arrive. Isn?t this exciting, kupo?!? ?Once all eighteen contestants arrive, they will be divided into three teams. But while we wait for them, let?s go over the kupocious rules of this kuporrific game. Be sure to remember them, kupo!?
RulEs aND RegULaTionS bY MoG thE mOoGLe: 1. Players must be kupociously dedicated to the game and the challenges in order to win, kupo. If a player at any time wants to quit the game out of free will, the player must inform the host (that?s me, kupo). 2. Challenges will take place once or twice a week, depending on various kupo things. Each contestant is expected to take place in all the contests, or face the kuporrible Team Council, where the losing team or teams will boot the slackers, kupo! 3. Voting will take place by Private Messages to the host (me again, kupo). More information about that in the first Team Council. 4. In the case of a tie situation in the voting, the winner team or player will have the deciding vote, kupo. 5. At some point the three initial teams will merge into two, and then into one with individual players, kupo. In the first kupo phase with three teams, two losing teams will both go to the Team Council to vote somebody off, kupo. 6. All out-of-character discussion and kupo questions will take place in the Mog House , located Underground. (Shortcut here, kupo!)
?Kupo, I hope I didn?t forget anything? Well, as said, I will answer all further questions at the Mog House. Now, the players should arrive here at any second, kupo, each carrying an important item of varying color. Oh, I think I see the first one, kupo! Game On!?
