Err, yeah, but you still say it in your head, right? You go, "Oh, there is a post by Dagger" or whoever it may be. And you 'say' it inside your head, lol.
Actually, no. In my mind I think "Now Baron Samedi has quoted me", but I really don't hear the though (because its just a thought). Gotta admit that I sometimes cling onto some of the names and wonder how they're spelled, but I just meant that it really doesn't matter if one pronounces them wrong, because very few people ever hear their screenname said to them (unless it's a real name, like mine). But my blabbering is pretty trivial, so never you mind, heh... ;D

I've made the observation that the new smilies are crappy, no offense to the person who made them. I'm just bothered by the way the circle in them isn't even.... :/ But in the end, it doesn't even matter to me, since I've given up the graphic smilies, and am using only text-based ones. ;D I just wish it was possible to disable graphic smilies by default, so I wouldn't have to edit my post if I've forgotten to check the disabling box... :/ (Now somebody tells me that there is in fact such an option in the profile, and I'm just too blind to see it. :P )

Help wanted here! Since I personally lack any computer graphic skills and software, I'm asking if somebody would be interested in making a logo (and possibly a banner with the logo) for my upcoming RPG, OtakuBoards Survivor. The logo should be similar to the ones in the tv-show. In the last OB Survivor, GinnyLyn was kind enough to make a logo that can be seen in a drawing of hers that I've attached, so I'm thinking something in the same lines. The logo should be at least 100x100 pixels, but a bigger one will do as well. It should have the following text in following order: OtakuBoards SURVIVOR Game On! The central line can be the same one that the original logo has (if one is used as a background, that is), but I'd prefer if the other two lines would use the Century Gothic font. Now, to make it original, there should be a silhouette of some famous videogame character behind the text. Whether it is Pacman, Mario, Link, Sonic, Moogle or something else, I'll leave it up to the artist. ;) Color scheme should include bright and pure colors, but I can live with something else as well, if it's done well. If the artist is arduous enough, s/he can also make a banner of the default size with the logo somewhere in it. What the banner says otherwise doesn't matter, I'll give that much artistic freedom to the possible maker. So, if you're at all interested, this help would be very much appreciated! Post your stuff to this thread, and if multiple suggestions come, I'll choose the best. Thanks in advance! :D

Isn't this thread a tad controversial? I mean, people here are giving advice on how to pronounce their usernames, when in fact nobody will probably ever say them aloud - not even the carrier of the name. :P Okay, I have to admit that I've said my former username, Sage, aloud a couple of times to my boyfriend, but that's it. Heh, I'm not even going to go into how you pronounce "Sandy", because it's pretty much given. ;D Although if somebody would say it something like "Sahn-day", I'd probably laugh my *** off. :P
Why not just combine the two of them?
I thought about that option too, but I really think it would hurt the consistency of the game... :/ I am really starting to lean on the videogame theme, even if it would alienate some members (sorry Circéus... :/ ). Actually... I bet every member in this board has played at least some game, wether it be Pacman or Super Mario Bros. I think every person could think of a character for themselves, despite not being a "real" gamer. So yeah, I'll start working on this idea some more... Have to set the core rules first, then the amount of players and teams, and then the challenges... Well, been there done that, I know how it all works, so I'll probably have no trouble with the planning. ;D Everybody who is interested, keep an eye on my signature, cause I'll put a notice there as soon as I post the recruitment thread. ;) Oh, and if you have anything at all you'd like to contribute for the game, feel free to PM me. ;) Hey, thanks for everybody who joined this brainstorming session, it really helped! Now, I have to make up a nifty title for this game, cause "Videogame Survivor" just won't do... *walks off to the horizon pondering*

Oh well, there's been many threads like this in the past, but not for a long time, so let's reply. I first joined OtakuBoards in version 3 (or was it 4... gah, can't remember!), when this place still had separate anime sections. My interest in those days was none other than Digimon, and the OB'ers who posted in that section became quite a close-knitted group. Well, when Digimon ended (in USA), so did the popularity of the section. The former Digipeeps began to spread to the other sections more - I personally lodged at the Final Fantasy section. But quite soon after that, the boards got renovated and all those smaller forums got shut down (you can still see them at the Archives), and all anime and all games were heaped into two big entities (Anime Lounge and Play It, respectively). Anyhow, here I still am, in the place I call my online home. :D I don't know, I don't think there's a way to return to the days of the past (or a real need, either), but it's warming to think back and remember what this place was like... I've been around for 3,5 years, and to me it seems like forever. ;) Oh, and today is quite special day in my personal OB history, for it is the first time I've ever changed my screenname. Just yesterday I was still Sage, but now I'm what it says at the top of my post. Go new me! :D

This is going to get tricky... Although the most combining thing in this boards is anime, I personally am more of a gamer than an otaku. So now that I think of it, I guess it would be much easier for me to organize settings and contests in the videogame theme than in anime theme. Really, I've watched like five anime movies and seen like three series! X/ Well, let's just see where this thread will lead...
So you are telling me that my favorite band in the world just dismantelled like that!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine it. I mean I know the band were on rocky situations from the beginnings because Thuomas said they were going to break the band after the first cd went out but this is nonsense, Tarja would never do that!, I'm upset right now, how could this happenned? :animecry:
No, the Nightwish band still exists, they just kicked Tarja out. Rumors tell that they've already found a replacement, but nothing official hasn't been announced. I'm sure the music will be just as good with a different vpcalist, or perhaps even better now that the reason of disputes have been erased. ;)
TailTactics: Hmm....I think they should have sidequests, but not really minigames this time around. And not a whole load of sidequests either - just a few to expand the story and get special weapons or something. As for summons - they better have summons!! - I'm not sure. I haven't play FF9, so I don't know the animations you're talking about, but I really liked X's images. I want to know if they're going to use the same aeons from X, or ones from 7, or 8, or....you guys get the point. Or use completely different summons and/or models? I also agree - more cutscenes! I think there was way to few cutscenes in FF - I believe FFX-2 had more than X, but I'm not completely sure......as for good cutscenes, I think X-2 was better for that as well. But I think they should talk more in the cutscenes as well. But have plenty of story to PLAY, not just watch cutscenes. Xenosaga (pardon for using another game as an example) had a whole load of cutscenes, and (it was an AWESOME game!!) but it sometimes felt more like I watched it than played it. I don't want FF12 to get to that point, ya know? I think I might be being too picky, but isn't that what a gamer is all about? :catgirl:
I'll try not to spoil anything, but I can say this much: to current knowledge, FF XII will not contain any summons/aeons/whatever from any previous numbered (I-XI) Final Fantasy game, but
the Totema and the Lucavi from FF Tactics games act as summons.
What comes to sidequests, FFXII will have plenty of those. It is said that the main story arch will last for about 40 hours to play through if you don't do any of the sidequests, but if you want to be a perfectionist and do everything you can in the game, it can last for a whopping 150 hours. But if you don't like sidequest, you can very well skip them - that's how it's always been. I'm not sure what you meant by cutscenes, Anime Pet, but if you were referring to Full Motion Video -scenes (the fully rendered, ah-so-beautiful ones), FF XII is said to have less those and more in-game cutscenes. It has something to do with the advanced graphics or something... But there was definately much more FMV-scenes in FF X than in it's sequel - having played both now I can assure that. It feels like every other cutscene in FF X was made with the FMV-technique, and although I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it was just irksome that the characters change their appearances all the time. In FF X-2, you could almost count the number of FMV-cutscenes with your fingers. So there. FF XII will not be the every-fanboys-and-girls-dream-game as expected, but a game that will take the series into a whole new level. I truly believe it will repeat the fame of FF VII. Well, we'll find out about that next year... ;D

Sure, Jamesy, that is an excellent suggestion! ;D I don't know why I didn't think of that option... I'll ask Bio to add it to the poll.

Here's the deal: I've been thinking about making another of my famed OB Survivors, but I need a public opinion before I do anything. In case you are unaware what exactly is this OB Survivor, I'll provide links to the previous two I've created (there was a third, but it wasn't my creation, and it unfortunately died away pretty quickly):
Unofficial OtakuBoards Survivor: the Freakshow Final Fantastic Survivor
As you can see, the first one was a completely original RPG based on the reality-show Survivor, with more than a few added twists. The second one was actually a combination of Survivor and the videogame-series Final Fantasy. So, I'm here to ask you would you like to see another OB Survivor, and what kind of theme would you like it to have? I'll give you a few options in the form of a poll, but if you have other suggestions, just use this thread. About the schedual: creating such a game as this takes time, and once it starts, it will most likely last several months, so don't expect this to be up tomorrow and be done with next week. If this thread gains popularity, I'll probably be able to get this up and running by December, maybe even next month. I'm really ready to take another shot at a Survivor-RPG, because the previous ones have been so memorable and fun to make. So voice out your opinions, and let's get this thing rolling!

Seriously, the guy seems like a big, whipped wuss. You sure you want to be with him? If he doesn't have the balls to defend himself in front of his tyrant girlfriend, then how is he going to cope if you two got together and later had a fight? Would he seek a new girl to go to? But obviously you know the situation much better than I, Hime, I'm going by what you said in this thread. I think it's a wise decision to stay away from that pair. You'll find some one better, some one available some day, trust me. ;D

Hello?! That's the whole point of fanfictions! You get to fiddle with the pre-existing world of a series/movie/anime/book etc. and make it whatever you want! There's no restrictions, none. If you want a straight guy to become gay, you can do that in a fanfic. Same goes other way around. If you want to add yourself (aka "Mary Sue") to the story, you can do that as well. Nobody is forcing you, kuroinuyoukai, to read any fanfics if you don't like them, but frankly you have no right to dictate what people can write and what they can't. Different people like different things, that's the most essential thing to learn when dealing with other people. When the preferences are according to the laws, there are no rights or wrongs. Besides, when I first saw Inuyasha, I was 100% sure he was a girl. ;P

Whee, I can feel the excitement over this game gushing back to my body! 8D I'm such a sucker for plot-twists! ;D And suddenly I feel an irresistable urge to find out what exactly "Hero Patrol" is, but I guess I can wait until after the Body Bag-session, cause boy will that be thrilling or what! XD It feels like Survivor's tribal councils again! ;P

Actually, once upon a time there was a section called "Newbie Lounge" at these boards, but due to unfortunately immense amount of spamming it contained, it was brought down, and everybody has lived happily ever since.

Am I the only one confused about what is going on in this game? So, the Gold Team and the Red Team have both concluded their first missions, right? And the Blue Team is about to. Silver Team has progressed rather slowly despite the fact it has only three members, while Green Team - the newest team - has the most posts, but hasn't finished their mission yet, am I wrong? And apparently there're individual missions going on at the Arbiter, and Retribution either gave up the game or was kicked out... The Body Bags are coming soon as well, or are they? And what on earth is "Hero Patrol"?! (Check the first post of this thread if you haven't see the title before.) Anything else people like me should be aware of? It's good to compile things every once in a while with such a widely-branched event, isn't it? PS. and to all of my apparent "archvillains" at these boards, I'm not posting this to whine, I just want a confirmation to what's going on in the game so I won't be totally lost... :/

If you look back on the history of human society, this really is nothing new. Just a hundred years ago children were still expected to be "little adults" - dress like them, act like them, behave like them. If we go further back, it wasn't unusual for 12 years old girls to wed, and boys of that age were already working as apprentices/fighting in battles. The "kids must be allowed to be kids" -thing was just a phase in the mid to late 1900's. But like Imi said, just because this is natural development, it doesn't make it ethically right. I sincerely believe that the modern society puts way too much pressure on the children's appearance and behaviour, but nobody seems to have a solution at hand... :/

It's true (unfortunately?); Tarja Turunen has been kicked out of Nightwish. But the band will continue onwards, and I don't really think that having a new female vocalist will change the style of their music, as the songwriter is still in the band. I guess these sort of things happen in the music world all the time - people leave, others replace them, names change etc. Nothing is unchanging.

Okay, I reckon many of you know the Finnish "opera metal"-band Nightwish? They have toured all over Europe, USA and Asia, so I think you do. Well, today an open letter was published on the official website www.nightwish.com addressed to the female vocalist Tarja Turunen by the four male players of the band. They said they were extremely disappointed to her behaviour, how she had ridiculed the band, saying she could leave it at any moment she wanted; how she didn't respect the fans at all - an example was how she nearly canceled a fully booked concert in Norway because she wanted to go Christmas shopping; how she wasn't interested in the band affairs anymore, and she only aimed for fame and fortune. They said she wasn't the woman they knew when the band started anymore. Thus, the four band players - in the public letter - fired her! They said they were starting to look for a new female vocalist soon. Even though I'm not a big fan of Nightwish, I'm quite shocked about how the rest of the band executed the booting - I mean, in a public letter?! But I also feel that they had every right to do so, if Tarja Turunen really has started to behave like they claimed. Obviously fame had got into her head, and that is a very dangerous thing - to lose your sense of reality and humbleness towards others. Nevertheless, Tarja Turunen has such an amazing voice, I think this turn of events is extremely sad... :(

Heeey, I saw those two in a commercial of the "document" made by the Louis Theroux-guy about Neo-Nazis. Their father was scary, but those two skipping merrily around the nazi-cross singing some racist chant was way more scarier! Those girls are definately brainwashed, and if they lived in my country, they'd surely be taken into care by the socialworkers... :/

It hasn't come out at this part of the world yet, but after seeing Firefly - especially because it was cancelled and cut short - I totally want to see Serenity. I'm so thrilled that they decided to make a movie about the ill-fated tv-series, because Firefly was definately the best sci-fi -series I've ever seen. It was unique, the characters were original and black, sardonic humor florished. Only negative side on it was the lack of a consistent "main" plot, but I reckon the movie will have one. ;D I'm also glad that they kept all the old actors (or did they?) in the movie, because they were phenomenal! Too bad I have to wait till December... :/
I remember the comic type thing that Ginny did on FFSurvivor, but I don't think she got around to completing it.
No, she didn't... :/ She stopped it just before things (ie. first challenge) was about to begin. I totally understand why, it was months after the actual game, and I don't think that very many people read it. I still have the copies of each strip downloaded to my harddrive, and I will treasure them as a symbol of those days! ;D Both Ginny and I originally hail from the late Digimon-section, but I have a hard time now, after several years, to remember the other digipeeps. There was Cera/Sara/Lore, Shy and Digital_Monster (the mods), and calumon_luver/Kitty and Roxie and Ohkami/Sakura, and Devidramon and Solo and Pyrophobic, and rokas and Domon, and Ben and D_M's little sister Nicky... Oh, and almost forgot Blanko/Frankie! I always called her "Blankie", and she recented that. ;P Who else?! Gah! But good times, good times... I probably wouldn't frequent on such a section as Digimon anymore (I'm old and blah blah), but looking back, I'm not embarrassed to the least. Digimon Forever!

Bloodseeker, when you say something as provocative as you did in this forum, you really need to explain why you think so. Otherwise you'll just look like a ignorant newbie, which you aren't really. (Just a friendly advice.) I'm gay (well, duh!), but I don't consider myself a yaoi-fan. Why? Two male manga-characters getting down on each other is hawt, but I really don't like the style of mating a gorgeous, tall-as-a-house popular guy with a short, awkward, big-eyed boy who looks like a girl without boobs. :/ That's just isn't gay, if you get my drift! In my opinion many girls love yaoi (over say gay porn), because the main character is almost always as girlish as them. And the yaoi-girliness is very far from the pretentious, overdone, "pink positive" behaviour that some Western gay guys favor. My point is, to me yaoi-manga looks very similar to "straight" manga, because the main character could very well be a girl personality- and behaviour-wise - just draw a few more curves at him and voilá! :P Take Gravitation for an example: in a purely visual and aesthetic p-o-w, I'd be more than happy to see the tall, handsome guys hitting it off with each other, if they'd erase that main character with his huge eyes and dressing-up fetish. Now, of course the main character is crucial to the plot of the manga, and makes it what it is, but does he really need to be a girl with a wang? 8/

I'm always and forever embarrassed by the first thread I posted to the late Final Fantasy -section! I remember the title being something like "Ultimate FF Babe!" X( Being a "who's your favorite?"-thread, it got closed by Tasis/Zeh rapidly, and I remember that I was quite pissed off by the way he closed it, so I didn't dare to revisit the FF-section until months afterwards. XD I really can't believe I have ever posted such a thread, but hey, I was deep in the closet at that time, and I guess I felt I needed to prove my heterosexuality some way back then. And I can't believe how newbie-ish my posts were then, but at least I've made much progress... Boy, things really are more simple when you're courageously whoever you are! ;D
