1. Alrighty! :D Q (FF7): name the people you fight as Yuffie in Wutai Padoga, and the monsters they transform into.
2. *Whimpers*Sorry, it was just an innocent sidenote... :( Since FFX-2 was under discussion and all... :bawl: No, the discussion is different costumes, appearances, classes and personalities of different characters in FF games. -Break Heh, well... Actually, I've been trying my damnest to create something similar to the FF-games and their style, but somehow it is impossible! I guess it needs a roomfull of skilled gamedesigners to come up with something like FF... Heh, some of you might recall my FF Utopia rpg, which became more of my personal fanfic, and it flopped... :bluesweat Well, now I'm planning a sequel to FF-7 (don't know why, I just felt up to it), so maybe some day you'll see a thread named "FF7-2 by Sage!" up in this forum. (Just don't know where to put it...) I've even redrawn the characters, but somehow they just don't match the original designs... Oh well...
3. Everybody, this game will start either later tonight or then tomorrow, depending on how much people I've got with me to play this (haven't counted yet...). But I just want to say one thing about the "neutrality"-issue: it is really a matter of where you live; Rainbow Alliance is an underground movement, so they are everywhere. But if you aren't a part of that, you will automatically be SUPPOSED to belong to either Loyals to Titania or Auberon's Followers, even if you really don't want to. The forest-regions near the Winterpalace belong to Titania, and the mountain-range near the Summerpalace belong to Auberon. Now, I understand Raiha's point that her character will choose the side when she finds which is more intriguing (which really is okay to me), but I won't accept "I'll just be neutral and kick everybody else's butt"-attitude. Is this clear? Goodie! ;) I repeat that wizard isn't a race - and this isn't certainly LotR! I'm the gamemaster in this game, and if you don't like it, there is plenty of other games around. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is... :( Other thing is about the names: I didn't mean everybody should go change their name immediately; I just want people to make a NEW character for this one, just to get a new point of view of things. Again, if you aren't willing to do that little thing for this game, I'll have to think you aren't really interested in this game after all... Oh no, am I being cruel today or what?! :smirk: Well, mesa the birthdayboy, so... :D Well, that was about all! See you tomorrow at tops! ;)
4.
Originally posted by Final Flash Say /what/? *scours internet to find pictures from FFX-2* And Des--Black Mages from FFII and FFIII are "classic" style.
Yep, it's true! ;) Check this out: http://www.ffinsider.net/ffx2/dsblackmage.php You should have stayed on topic, silly child.. -Break
5. They're also called Ifrit, Shiva and Ramuh in the new version of FF4, but I read from here: http://www.ffinsider.net/ff4/index.php, that Ifrit was previously called Jinn, and Ramuh was Indra, but it read that Shiva was Shiva also then. If you follow that link, you see two different sections for summon-monsters: "Call Monsters" and "Summon Monsters". I'm really confused about this issue, so would you like to clarify this, Des?
6. Okay, I have few requests: First of all, for all those who chose to be "neutral": you can't be! You can either be on either Titania's side or Auberon's side, or then on Rainbow Alliance, which is an anti-war movement. So everybody who want to be in this thing, please change that. Another request is about names. I've noticed that some of you have a bad, BAD habit of always using a same name. And frankly, I'm not very happy about that (I see that the name you choose also measures your imagination). So everybody who feels guilty of doing this, please change it to something else - and especially if you have a common human name! This is another realm, so everybody should have a "fairy tale"-like name (if you can't figure out ANYTHING, just steal the name from some myth or story). My third comment is about the race: wizard isn't a race, it's a profession! Logan, your character can be for example a "fire fairy" or "pyro elf", but some of you just put plain "wizard" on the sign-up, so please, please change it! I'm truly sorry that I sound so controlling, but I'm that sort of person who likes things to be original, and yes, in some kind of harmony. Besides, if you do the things I mentioned above, then I can see you're REALLY interested in this rpg, and you're not just joining in "just another game". This means alot to me, so thanks for listening/reading/whatever! ;) And I have high expectations on this (I'm even going to do a map! *yay!* ). There's still plenty of room for new players! :D
7. War of the Fay (Nymphs are from Venus, satyrs are from Mars) Once upon a time, not so near from here yet not so far either, there was a realm of myths and magic known as Faerie. It was ruled by the courageous king Auberon and the beautiful queen Titania. But one day a shadow fell upon the whole realm, as a wandering human got lost to the secret land of Faerie. His strangeness mesmerized queen Titania, and she fell in love with him. Furious of this, king Auberon took those loyal to him and left to the Summerpalace in Sarashan Heights. Titania stayed at the Winterpalace in the capital city of Illusia with her human-lover. A bitter war started between the king and the queen, and whenever their supporters met, an instant battle took place. But there were also those who wanted to restore peace to the once so euphonic land. Those members of the fair folk called themselves ?Rainbow Alliance?, as they consisted of people from all races. But how can they end the feud between the two of the most powerful beings in the world? Here is the story, and below is what you should do next, if you want to join this game: Sign-up: name: (please put effort to this; first and family names required, you can also include a nickname) gender: (male, female or something between them; note that some races consist solely from either gender, like satyrs (male) and mermaids (female)) age-group: (child, young, adult, middle-aged, elder; no years required, as each race live different amount of years) race: (basically any magical/mythical race will do; eg. fairy, sprite, gnome, leprechaun, dwarf, elf, troll, goblin, orch, gremlin, satyr, centaur, minotaur, nymph, mermaid, kelpie, angel, cupid, imp, furie, genie, harpie, giant, cyclops, etc. NOTE: no humans, except if somebody wants to be Titania?s oh-so-gorgeous lover) alliance: (either Auberon?s Followers, Loyals to Titania or Rainbow Alliance; notice that Auberon?s supporters are mostly male, and come from races like trolls, goblins, satyrs etc., while Titania?s supporters are mostly female, and fairies, sprites, nymphs etc. Rainbow Alliance consists of members from both genders and all the races) appereance: (be original, but remember the basic features of the races, like satyrs have goat-legs and -horns, and fairies have butterfly-wings) biography: (once again, be original; your character can come from the highest Rooms of fair folk, or be a common thief or a craftsman) As an example, I?ll give my character, the leader of Rainbow Alliance: name: Callisto ?Catmint? Florafleur gender: male age-group: young race: fairy alliance: Rainbow Alliance (leader) appereance: dark-green skin; spiky, white hair; wings of amiral butterfly (red with yellow and black dots); yellow cat-like eyes and large, pointy years; like all fairies, can change into human-size, wingless version of self. biography: Catmint comes from the noble Room of Florafleur, that has served the royal pair for thousands of years. But when the war begun, he couldn?t choose sides, so he started the anti-war group now known as Rainbow Alliance. In personal point of view, Catmint is obviously raised in the court, as he fancies fiests and celebration ? especially with good-looking youngster of his own age. However, recent events have made him more serious, and he is dedicated to bring back peace and balance, because without them, the party can?t go on... So, if you want to join to end the most fantastic war ever, create your own, original character and enter the magical world of Faerie! There is no limitation of how many people can join, but I will use my right to choose the players (though you all know I'm not that strict in doing that...)
8. Alright, Ginny, I accept your suggestion that there will be only 1 card each in the levels 8-10 (GF- and character-cards), just like in the real game. Notice that you can get lvl 10 cards only from certain people (check that site I showed you to learn who they are). I want to say, in general, that I'm very satisfied what I see here. See, it wasn't that hard! ;) Well, I'll be back Monday to see how you all have progressed. Until then!
9. And I wasn't talking about job-classes, I was talking about characters (mainly from the games 6-10). Most of FF9's characters are dressed like the job-classes of the older games (Zidane=thief, Vivi=black mage, Freya=dragoon/red mage, Amarant=monk etc. (Garnet even wears a white mage robe when she tries to escape the Alexandria Castle). In FFX-2, many of those "old-style" outfits are brought back with a modern decoration, like the black mage-outfit (a pointy hat combined to a miniskirt ;) ).

FFIX Help

Nah, you don't really have to gather any more experience. I had my characters at about the same level as you, and I beated Necron with ease.
And, G/B/S, DON'T remind me about Yans! I totally freaked out when I accidentally landed on their island (which is the one next to Iifa Tree). I mean, how can a cute little sheep be that dreadful?!
Spoiler tags were added. Do it yourself next time, please -Break
11. You have to be really blind if you can't see the stereotypic characters repeating in every game. Luckily only their appereance is stereotypical, not how they behave or what background they have (Garnet was a total princess, Rinoa was a rebel, Yuna was a goodie-good summoner, Tifa was an arse-kicking bar hostess, Terra was a child of an esper, etc.) But here's some categories I've found: 1) Youngster seeking himself (always the main character; eg. Tidus, Zidane, Squall, Cloud). You can actually divide these into gloomy (eg. Squall, Cloud), and optimistic (eg. Tidus, Zidane, Locke) 2) Damsell in distress (the leading ladies; eg. Yuna, Rinoa, Garnet, Aeris, Terra) 3) Strong Xena-type woman (the supporting women#1; eg. Tifa, Lulu, Qustis, Freya) 4) Oddity (all the freaks and beasts in the games; eg. Kimahri, Red, Quina, Cait Sith, Mog) 5) Muscle-man (the supporting men#1; eg. Wakka, Barret, Sabin) 6) Mysterious warrior (the supporting men#2; eg. Auron, Amarant, Vincent, Shadow) 7) Knight in a shining armor (the supporting men#3; eg. Steiner, Cyan) 8) Happy-go-lucky girl (the supporting women#2; eg. Rikku, Eiko, Selphie, Yuffie, Relm) Sure, there are some of characters that don't fall into any of my categories, but if you think of them, there isn't that much of them. Interesting, aye?
12. Sidenote: Actually, my old question was about FF-characters appearing in GAMES, meaning not just FF-mainstream ones. And since the question was about FF-characters, it was very well related to this quiz. ;) Now the answer to Des's question (heh, I'm gorging all the questions here. ;) ): A:The game will end if Banon gets killed when you protect him during the trip from Returner's Hideout to Narshe. And another question from me: Q: What THREE methods you can use in FF7 to NULLIFY ELEMENTAL attacks? (note: reflecting isn't nullifying - it's reflecting. ;) )
13. offgame: Gah! :faint: I didn't realize you all were THAT opposed to this... *whimpers* I just thought that as card-games are a big part of two of the games, we should have them involved, but... Okay, I'll compromise; since we are in no hurry, I will declare the results of this challenge in TUESDAY at tops. [Sidenote: my 19th birthday is on Tuesday. ;)] Is everybody okay with this? Please don't take this that seriously; I will evaluate the results mostly on the quality (and amusement) of your posts - and you can all do those things, can't you? :smirk:
14. Oh! Now, Ginny, breathe! Repeat: "This is just a game, this is just a game"... ;) Here's what you do: 1) You participate in the theory course lead by Quistis at Balamb Garden 2)In order to "graduate" from there you must beat Quistis in the game of Triple Triad 3)When you win, Quistis will give you your starting deck which contains 10 random cards 4)You take your cards to the wide world, challenge people you meet in different locations to a match of cards, collect victories, cards and rare cards 5)How you do all this is secondary. You can go the detailed way ("My opponent sturck a horrid Odin card to the table, and I knew I had to get that extra rare card... Now my Ifrit-card was going to be of use...") or just overall-style ("In Galbadia I dared to challenge the headmaster himself, and I won a very rare level 6 card from him...") But as you all know, besides the points (which are quite secondary here as well), I will take count your activity and the quality of your posts as well (like in every other challenge before this). C'mon, this isn't that hard... Just be imaginative! :) PS. About what time I will come here in Saturday, I can't really tell... I live in a whole different continent that you, Ginny, and I suck at maths, so I can't really count the time-zones. Besides, it can be either at noon or at midnight, as those are the times I'm usually here (in Eastern European Time, of course). Sorry...
15. Yes, I know... I answered too hard a question... The answer to which FF-characters have made an appereance in three games was: *Cloud (FF7, FFT, Kingdom Hearts) *Squall (FF8, FF6 (as a sprite in PSX-version's load-screen), Kingdom Hearts (named Leon, but c'mon; it was obviously him!)) *Tidus AND Wakka (FFX, FFX-2, Kingdom Hearts) So there... But now to the NEW QUESTION! Who are the people in the picture, what is their position in the Shinra Corporation and what happened to each of them in the game FF7? Here's something for you to chew on for a while...
16. offgame: Sorry to interrupt your fun, but I think we ought to move on... Actually, we were supposed to move on few days ago, but you know, the server was down yesterday and everything... But I'm here again! :D ("and now everybody felt relieved and happy again!") ******** ongame: Four exhausted travelers returned to Ragnarok. Cecil: "You know, Zell, when you said you were going to show us around places... I didn't know you meant the whole cursed world!" Zell: "Well, excuse me for trying to be a good host!" Rinoa: "Here we go again... OH CID! YOU DON'T KNOW HOW GLAD I AM TO SEE YOU!" Cid: "Excuse me?" Auron: "She has had enough cock-fighting for one day..." Cid: "Mmm, I see... Well, You returned just in time to hear your next challenge." Cecil: "WHAT?! Do we have to go back out there immediately?" Cid: "Get a grip of yourself, hero - you can do it!" Cecil: "Well, as a matter of fact, I can..." Cid: "Besides, you won't need your muscles for this challenge; this time I'm going to test your wittiness, tactic-skills, and most importantly... how well you do in minigames! At least two of you know that the most popular game in this world is a card-game called "Triple Triad". Thus, I have named this challenge as Triple Trial! Now here is what to do: Each of you will take a beginners course to the mysteries of Triple Triad at Balamb Garden under the controling eye of our dashing teacher Quistis Trepe. After you think you have learned enough, you can take a quick match against Quistis herself. If you win, you will gain a deck of 10 cards from her, which you begin with. Otherwise you will have to do more studying. Now, once you've received the beginning deck, you can go anywhere in this world to test your skills against the people you meet, and get their cards. You will have a certain time to achieve points. The points are dealt from wins, amount of cards AND the rarity of cards. As a hint, if you come to Balamb Garden - where all the best players dwell, including me - you can win very rare cards which will give you more points, but the matches are also extremely though (you can even try to outbeat me). Here's the point list: 1 point from every win 1 point from each card you have +? points from the card levels (so if in theory you have a level 1 card, lvl 5 card and a lvl 7 card, you will get 1+5+7=13 points from them (+the wins)) More you will learn from Quistis's course. Now, I know Rinoa and Zell are perhaps more experienced in this game, so to them Quistis will give a tougher oppose. Agreed? Great! Now, the challenge will start when the course starts, but I want to wish you best luck! Survivors GO!" ********** offgame: Okay, I probably forgot something VERY essential about this challenge, but you can take the "course" (and see all the cards) from here: http://www.ffonline.com/ff8/cards-lvl1.htm If anything is left unclear, please ask me - I'll be around! I'll come tell the results in Saturday. Until then...
17. The sun was shining outside. Haku sat in front of his window and peered out to the sea opening near the mansion. Couple of the servants' kids were playing in the beach. Haku petted Chip, his Choromon who he had taken with him from the Digital World. Haku: "I wish we were back at your home, Chip. There I could play in the beach like those children..." Suddenly Chip bounced off his lap and hopped to the desk. Haku: "W-what is it?" The Choromon snuggled the computer, and then looked at Haku pleadingly. Haku: "You want me to open this for you? Alright..." Haku left Chip by the computer and walked to his bookself to crab something to read. Suddenly the computer bleebed. Computer: "You-have-one-message!" Haku: "I hope it's Keio... Hey, what's this? I should return to the Digital World...?" Haku looked at Chip, and it looked back. Then Haku smiled^, and guided the computer mouse to click the link. ******** An hour later the maid came to knock on Haku's door. Maid: "Haku, the dinner is ready! Haku?" She opened the door, and found that the room was empty. ********* offgame: Haku's in! :D
18. offgame: Sorry, Gin, but you have been tracking wrong. ;) There is two more worlds to go, and the other of them we are going NOW. Hold your hats! ******* ongame: At Ragnarok the four remaining contestants are talking: Zell: "Man, it's really getting empty here!" Rinoa: "I know! Just think about all the people that have been sent home..." Auron: "This is a competition, if you remember. There can be only one winner." Cecil: "Yes, and that is me." Auron: "Just keep dreaming, youngster!" Cid enters the lounge. Cid: "I heard your little chit-chat, and I just came to inform you that two of you are actually going home tonight." Zell: "Huh?!" Rinoa: "Not another double drop!" Cid: "Hahaa, just scaring you a bit! Actually, what I meant by "going home" is that we are moving onto the next world. Follow me to the control room, people!" As everybody stand up from their seats, Rinoa leans closer to Zell. Rinoa: "I think he means we are going to our world! Isn't this great or what?!" At the control room everybody sit back down. Cid: "Put your seatbelts on, folks, and say goodbye to this world!" Zell: "Well, I'm not actually going to miss this place anyway..." Cid: "Prepare yourselfs - it's take-off!" Auron: "This Cid is an enthusiastic one, don't you think." Cecil: "Yeah, I've noticed..." Ragnarok rose from the roof of Figaro Castle, and sped off to the gloomy grey sky. Among the sad clouds a familiar worm-hole appeared, and the red airship flashed through it. Then the four survivor-candidates saw a glimmering ocean in front of them. Suddenly a huge bridge appeared out of nowhere. Cecil: "Cid, look out!!" A deep, calm voice answered. Voice: "I saw that, thank you very much. Trust me - I knwo what I'm doing." Zell: "Could that be... Headmaster Cid?" The pilot-seat turned around to face the travelers. In it sat a middle-aged balding man in a formal outfit. Headmaster Cid: "Yes, this is me, Zell. I'm taking us to Fisherman's Horizon, and this ocean-crossing bridge will take us there. So please calm down, everybody." Cecil *murmurs*: "I AM calm..." ******* offgame: Well, you all are free to roam around in this world again! Map is included, and I will come back in few days to announce the SECOND LAST challenge. :D
19. Damn, Mei, you got them all right... *sulks* Well, I know the answer to your question as well! :p That picture is Yuna in her Trainer dress sphere (game is FFX-2). That dress is used to call forth the animal to perform different attacks, which are mostly status-altering (in Yuna's case the animal is the lion whose name I don't remember - Rikku has a monkey called Gigi or something, and Paine has an eagle). So there! :P Next Q: Basically there are four Final Fantasy MAINSTREAM (FFI-XI)characters, who have made an appereance in three different games. How many of those four can you name (name also the games they're in).
20. The monster is Soulcage, its level is 26 and its HP is 9765. I know I'm right, so it's my turn. AND have I got a treat for you! ;) This is a new type of question: whose eyes are in the picture? (I want ten names and from what game they are from.) Enjoy! :D
21. offgame: Nice to hear everybody's still with me! :D Well, except Zidargh... Oh well, moving on... ******** ongame: The Redwings sit anxiously, waiting for the results. Rinoa looks at the others nervously. Cid: "Well well, it seems we have another tie-situation! Zidane and Zell, you both received two votes. So it is your dudy as a captain to decide between them who is going home, Rinoa." Everybody move their eyes on Rinoa, who sits petrified from nervousness. Zidane and Zell point at each other. Zidane&Zell: "Pick him! I don't want to go home yet!!!" Rinoa: "Uuh... I... I..." *********** offgame: So Mei, it's your call. I'm trying to be impartial, but I suggest you choose the one who hasn't been around. ;)
22. We had this same discussion when the first game started. The deal was that nobody would take such partners which caused confusion (such as Imperialdramon and Gallantmon). I think it would be a good rule to this game as well, but it is up to JJR to decide.
23. Alright, here's the deal: we have a tie situation. I will give Zidargh 1 day to appear and tell his vote; otherwise, it's Mei who will get to decide (as she is a captain). So, until tomorrow...
24. Well, I have to admit - to my shame - that as Finland's two neighbors - Russia and Estonia - are known for their pirate products, lots of Finns go there just to buy loads of illegal stuff, such as videotapes - dubbed by one man to lowsy Finnish -, CDs - that don't usually work - , and clothes with such famous marks as Adidos and Naik. Down with piracy! :p
25. Oh, please don't get upset, people! This was just one challenge! I wanted to make this a bit different from those "just write great posts and you'll win"-challenges... I thought you were getting bored to every contest being basically similar, but apparently not... I just want to stress that in every challenge the post quality has been a major issue (since you can't really measure speed or strenght otherwise in this type of game). So please don't tell me I'm not taking that in count - I just felt I didn't need to do that in this point as there is nothing but great posters left! I just want to say that despite Ginny's and Des's sulking, Mei REALLY deserved to win this challenge. Her posts were just as good as theirs. So what if she was around more often - that was the nature of this challenge! Maybe in the next challenge I'll require other talents - I'll certainly will in the contest between three last contests (the final challenge). ;) So, let us all stay and wait for that. :) Meanwhile, I'm hoping that either BB or Zidargh would show up and tell me who will get evicted. PS. I didn't think you would be THAT self centered that you needed a reminder of how good you are after every challenge. :smirk: You ARE great, and you bloody well know it! If you weren't, you wouldn't be here!
