Gaming The Pinnacle of 2D Fighters: Guilty Gear X2
The Vampire: Ed replied to Charles's topic in Noosphere
Well, I have not played this Guilty Gear yet. However, I have played the other two and I must say that this sequel sounds like a huge boost in the series. I mean the sequel to the original Guilty Gear was somewhat a let down because it had practically no storyline to it at all, and very few modes. No unlockables that I can remember either, so that game had very little reply value. But this one sounds like it'll keep people playing for a while, and there is much more reward for your buck. From the extra gameplay elements it sounds like it would be a much more enjoyable experience, and the time invested in the game is well worth it. Whether it be to master the characters, or just to unlock more to enjoy. This definitely sounds like it's worth the investment. More people should experience the Guilty Gear series, as it is one of the best fighters series in my opinion. -
The night air was frigid, combined with the strong blowing wind and snow covered ground there would be no comfort to the poor souls exposed to such weather. But the weather was the least of their problems in a small remote area of Germany, there in a lab at the center of town genetic scientist were capturing the innocent locals for experimentation. These experiments involved the alteration of a humans DNA, to improve their physical form and make them super human. The purpose of course was the usual. To build an army of super human soldiers to make their country more of a power in the world, as a matter of fact laboratories like this one were popping up all over the world. So it was more of a race between countries, corporations, and other entities that strive for power, to make the biggest, and strongest of armies. But of course many of the subjects would attempt to escape, and on some occasions they were successful. It is always handled quite differently in each region of how they would retrieve, or eliminate their escapees. In this area of German, they had their own altered human to do their dirty work. A former inmate of the American prison system, awaiting his death sentence for the murder of over two-hundred people. However, in his sick mind it was a sport. He hunted, and murdered humans for sport; being as mentally insane as he is there would be no moral issues to cloud his mind. A few German scientist greased the palms of a dirty politician to let the prisoner go into their custody, and once obtained they gave him a job as their personal predator to hunt down the escaped altered humans. A job, in which, he happily accepted. A new prey to hunt, and a new freedom from the laws that say murder is forbidden. With an escaped altered human, anything was aloud. On this night sport was afoot, an escaped altered human whom managed to break free from his cell during the scheduled feeding time. He managed to make it out of the lab, and through half of the city but all along the way he had the feeling that he was being watched. The altered man was indeed correct, leaping across the rooftops looking down upon him was the predator himself shrouded in the shadows. With a small taste of freedom, as well a high level of fear the escapee had managed to ignore the fact that he was barefoot and his clothing were only strips of fabric. His flesh was turning beat red from the wind lashing at it. Finally, thinking he was safe the man takes a break to catch his breath even with his altered body he managed to exhaust himself, perhaps on of the weaker altered humans. From the shadows atop a roof the hunter looks below into the alley, his eyes never leaving his prey. Slowly he brings his hand to a communication device in his ear, and speaks with an Australian accent. "The target is in my sights. Orders?" the hunter with no emotion whatsoever in his voice simply asks for the thumbs up, or thumps down in a manner of speaking. "Verbrauchbar. Zerstören Sie das Ziel." A German voice says into their hitman's ear, and just as the sentence ends a grin on the hunter's face begins. "Understood. Consider the subject erased." The hitman replies in amusement as he moves his coat aside then pulls a large knife from his belt. In a blink of an eye he leaps over the side of the building into the alley in a flash an explosion of snow sends icy clumps everywhere. Looking up the altered escapee sees the hunter now under the lights littering the streets, looking to be about six foot five inches in height. Wearing a long tan colored trench coat he had a dark tan, with long white hair tied back covered by a "cowboy" hat, a pair of black fingerless gloves covering his hands, and his eyes were as red as fire. "Wer sind Sie? Was wünschen Sie?" The subject yelled loudly towards his stalker firmly questioning him. "Who am I? Heh, I get that question from all of my prey." The hunter remarks with a grin on his face, as he pushes the tip of his hat upward out of his face. Seeing a puzzled in the subjects face, he could see he spoke no English so he continued their conversation in German. "Mein Name ist Heinrich, aber meine Kommandanten gaben mir den Codenamen Ignatius. Sie haben infromed mich, daß Sie verbrauchbar sind." The hitman now known as Heinrich replied shocking his prey with the information that he was to be eliminated. The subject turned and continued running down the alley as Heinrich watch, then laughed. As he got to the end of the alley he sees Heinrich step out from the shadows ahead, he slides as he attempts to stop but does so immediately turning back to escape the way he came. His running tired him out, but he had not seen Heinrich around. His initial thought was that he evaded him, but the sudden feel of an arm wrapping around his neck squeezing tightly told him otherwise. Heinrich looks down upon his victim squirming to free himself, but it was a useless struggle. Heinrich was much stronger than he, and easily drags him off into a dark corner of the street they were now on. A glare of Heinrich knife was an indication of what was coming, and the sound of flesh being sliced would confirm it. The sound of gagging, and choking is heard then slowly the all sound begins to fade. Just as it goes quiet the subject collapses into the snow under the light, and exposes his throat slit wide open from ear to ear as the blood pooled out staining and melting the snow around his corpse. Heinrich then steps out from the shadows, his face with blood splattered on it and a sadistic smile across his face. Heinrich kneels down next to his victim, and slices his ear off them places it in a small pouch on his side then gets up and simply walks away back into the shadows. Just before he totally vanished from view he is heard telling his commanders that he had accomplished his mission. --------------- Translations: "Verbrauchbar. Sie haben infromed mich, daß Sie verbrauchbar sind." ~ "My name is Heinrich, but my commanders gave me the code name: Ignatius. They have infromed me that you are expendable."

I own the game myself, and I actually liked it very much. It has a good plot all be it a bit strange, unique and easy gameplay, good characters with their own unique special attacks and magic abilities. Overall it's a good game, but of course the graphics are mediocre and the character/enemy models are frequently reused except with a new paint job or something. A lot of RPGs do this, but it seems like Shadow Hearts has even less models to work with than other games. That's kinda of annoying. But other then those problems it's still an entertaining game. They managed to have a decent amount of humor with the mature matter, and that was also another enjoyable aspect of the game to me. So I say it was good, not great, but good.

Well, I wanted to be one of the first to reply because...well by the time I get to reply everyone has all ready beaten the obvious message to death. Yes, this is genius work. Obviously, I mean look who we're dealing with here! It's not just Crazy White Boy, no! It's Crazy White Boy Version 1!

Well, I pretty much don't know squat about the games plot, nor how it's going to play. I'm honestly not interested in it enough to spend the time getting to know more about it. But this game shares the same problem as that new cel shaded Legend of Zelda game. Decent looking environments, but with very poor character designs. Well, it's just an opinion. Anyone who know me, knows that I am not a fan of cel shading. Anyway, I don't know why I bother comparing this to Legend of Zelda: The Wind Walker. All though I dislike Link's character model that game not only has decent looking environments, I'll go as far as saying they look gorgeous. Now, that's a first for me. The lighting effects, and such are also great in that game. So all of that, with it the control set up supposedly being similar to that of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I know that I'll like that game for those simple reason, even if I dislike the cel shaded characters. But this game only seems to have decent looking environments, and the cel shaded models definitely don't impress me a bit. So this game has a lot to make up for in my case, and I highly doubt it'll be possible for me to take an interest in this title. But to each their own.

I accept it on behalf of myself, and the founder of Cliques Against Cliques, Crazy White Boy. I'd like to name all of my big fans here on Otaku Boards, but that would just take way too much time. So I thank you all for at least voting for me in this section. I know how badly you guys, and gals must have wanted to vote for me in the other categories. But we wanna keep this fair, and everyone knows TVE would have been walking away with all of the awards if I weren't such a generous man. Well, anyway I'm gonna go home put this on a chain, and make me some bling bling. Peace! I'm outta' here. All though this game seemingly just came out of no where, I must say it looks pretty good. I like the whole tube aspect of it, it'll be cool over passing competitors by driving on the ceiling and such. The backgrounds, and lighting effects look very cool from what I see in those pictures. I think this will be a good game, all though I feel the futuristic racers are a bit played out now. But I like how this one seems more based on racing skills, I mean rather than having to worry about someone shooting you down with a rocket or something. That's one thing that really was annoying about games like Wipeout, you spend the whole time in first place with luck but at the very end *BAM!* a rocket hits you in the rear and the other racers pull ahead of you causing you to come in a place other than 1st. So you'd have to do the whole damn race over because of that, well I'll be happy to see that it won't be a factor in this particular game.

A vampire like Kain from the first Blood Omen-- That or Alf-- No. Better yet, a vampiric Alf! :D -

I like it, it's great work. It's written very well, and it sounds very realistic in terms of how an overprotective father would react. I also liked how the mother, and father interact with one another. Quite amusing, all though in real life it would undoubtedly be very annoying to hear. LOL. Good job.

The world is not enough - that's your slogan. you don't seem to realize your age, you restlessly seek for power and immortality, and will use anyone, including your own son and grandson. you're a wicked oldman. This is what the results were...and surprisingly it was accurate. Heihachi is my favorite of the Tekken characters followed by King.

Writing Life was cruel to you and I know
The Vampire: Ed replied to Charles's topic in Creative Works
Well, don't expect my post to be any different than the other's posts. This is definitely great work, and the latin is an awesome touch. Something I don't see too much in poems, well actully unless I am mistaken I've never seen latin in a poem before this one. -
The only real experience I know that I could attribute to a ghost is one involving a cat I had. It was a male white cat with black spots on it, so I named it Cookie, as in Cookies and Cream...right. Well, anyway it died because of something wrong with it's bladder. This cat was always friendly, and usually would jump onto the kitchen table when I was in the room to get closer to me so I could pet it. Then when I would start to leave it would jump down, and make a very distinctive purring sound before it hit the floor. Well, about a week after it died I was in the kitchen. Then I turned to leave the room, and out of the corner of my eye I saw this white and black blur coming off of the table followed by that same purr my cat use to do and to top it off I actually heard the thud of it hitting the floor. But when I turned my full attention to the spot it landed, there was nothing there. So, I definitely think it was the spirit of my cat. I've always believed in such things, before this incident though.

Gaming The Addiction That is Phantasy Star Online...
The Vampire: Ed replied to Subversive's topic in Noosphere
Eh...if it's anything like the Phantasy Star Online games for the Dreamcast, then this game is way overrated. It was tedious, and boring having to fight so many endless monsters to be able to compete with others just to be able to play it with any fun factor whatsoever. -
Like I said it's an opinion. But if you have to go and mention the games I own then fine. Firstly, those two games you mentioned actually look like PS2 games, or at least a whole hell of a lot better then a 32X game. But to me, Killer 7 doesn't. Which, again, is my opinion. Also, my opinion rarely changes. I'll be a humble man, and admit when I think I was wrong about a game. But I definitely don't change my mind 99% of the time. I didn't change my mind about Panzer Dragoon Orta, and I definitely didn't change my mind about the Jet Set Radio games. And, my disliking of cel shading can be attributed to Fear Effect. I thought that game was going to be good, and I thought the new look would be cool as well. But after spending time with the game for a couple hours I was disappointed greatly. Thus explaining my distaste for cel shading. I've been pretty unsure of any cel shading games after that, and so far I've been right in my own opinions. I don't currently like any cel shading games, except maybe Sly Cooper. Which I'll admit right here is a lot better then I thought it would be. But I'd need to spend more time on that game before I can give a final opinion on that. But I'm being totally honest when I say this, I don't think I can or will be able to change my opinion on Viewtiful Joe, but I will admit that there is a chance I might like Killer 7 because of the way it sounds. Still, I'm not too impressed with the look of it.
-
I know no one is going to like my opinion, but I think Viewtiful Joe looks horrid. The first pictures I saw of the game, I really thought I was looking at a Game Boy Advanced or Color game. Maybe it could be fun, and play good. But the look really isn't that good for a Game Cube game. Maybe that's just my opinion, but I really don't care for the look of it. As for Killer 7...it has an interesting look to it. But it looks like something done on the 32X, except with a lot better shading than the 32X could have done. Once again, might be fun and have good gameplay. But I just don't care too much for that look either.

Damien and Arikel stand side by side staring down Dameon with a deep intensity in their eyes. "You all right?" Damien asks Arikel with his eyes still glued on Dameon, Arikel just simply replies with a single word "Yes." Damien goes to strike first, but with a simple wave of his hand Dameon sends Damien flying. However, Damien flips over in midair and lands on his feet as Arikel summons a small fireball throwing it at Dameon. Dameon quickly dodges it by leaping to the side, but suddenly gets clubbed in the back by Damien taking advantage of his vampiric speed. His sixth sense was thrown off by Arikel's fireball, and the speed of Damien's attack. Stumbling forward Dameon is hit by a fireball from the front and is knocked down onto his back, Damien quickly leaps atop Dameon to try clawing him to death but he is immediately thrown off by Dameon. Getting to his feet Dameon catches Arikel with a telepathic back hand sending him to the ground, then turns to Damien grabbing the air. Damien suddenly feels a pain in his throat, the feeling was that of a noose being tightened around his neck. Grasping at his own throat Damien choked for air, but before he could try to struggle any further he is whipped against a nearby tree. But it doesn't stop there, Dameon lifts his hand raising Damien high into the air then in one swift motion calls for him to be driven straight into the ground. Arikel gets back to his feet and leaps at Dameon slamming his staff into his back, he looses his concentration and releases Damien from his telepathic grasp. Dameon turns shoving Arikel back with more of his telekinesis, then speaks. "Fools! The two of you may make it a little harder to sense incoming attacks, and concentrate my other senses. But may no mistake you're only delaying the inevitable."

I mainly thought the show was funny, because I like to see idiots hurting themselves. Those have to be some of the dumbest people I have ever seen. In Jackass "The Movie" they shock the hell out of their nuts, and give each other paper cuts purposely. Tell me if you can even see a shred of intelligence in them.
-
I thought the show was funny at first, and it still has it's moments occasionally. But, it just got old fast in my opinion. I don't really watch it anymore.
-
I still watch it when I can. I seen it last night, and it was pretty funny. He went out with a couple late night hunters, and after it was all done he topped it off with an instant classic line. "In case you were wondering. Many animals were hurt during the filming of this." Definitely a good show, and very funny most of the time.
