A unified world government just can't work with the current state of human nature, until we (Or if we) evolve from that shell then maybe, but not anytime soon. Karl Marx's ideas aren't bad, infact they're quite ideal for a utopia. But they're impossible, and they're the only way I could see a world government functioning. Maybe Karl should have picked ants instead of humans, the idea would have gotten alot more popular. As my history teacher said. "Karl Marx stated that a revolution would spring up on one side of the world, and then there would be a world wide revolution... Followed by magic Marxist pixie dust that stabilized everything." It just can't work, theres bound to be corruption, theres bound to be selfishness, and all other negative human traits that will just end up bringing the government down.

Warning: Serious Rant on Social Issue ahead. I never fully understood the whole "I want to be Japanese" trend that is slowly creeping up. I mean don't get me wrong, learning new languages, gaining a better view on other cultures and such is always a good thing. But when one actually wishes to become the culture it just seems a bit far off to me. I'm gonna admit, I used to be like this. I did indeed want to be Japanese, but now that I look back on it I laugh. I ended up learning up alot more of Chinese history and cultures, and am now learning mandarian. It gives me great pride in my heritage. Now now, again, I'm not saying learning about other cultures is a bad thing. Just remember you have your own heritage that you shouldn't forget about. Indeed, many places have far richer histories and cultures then japanese because of its isolationism (But then again, that makes it very unique.) [/rantend] And as for this matter, I do know alot of friends who take japanese, its a pretty popular language at my school. They tend to say random stuff like "Don't go over there, those boxes are dangerous" How they learn it, I'll never know.
I'd enjoy growing up. Telling me that "other people would love what you have" doesn't help me ANY. I have hated my father for 15 years, this is far from a falling out. I hate his guts, and i would really rather be a third world starving child than be with him [/b'] . He is NOT good for me. He's more of a dictator than a parent. What kind of parent makes sure thier kid doesn't spend a dollar on anything that they don't want to get. I WANT to make him hurt, he needs it. Not resolution, it's too bloody between us to be peaceful. I'm either running away, or killing myself. And i'm choosing life, as opposed to killing myself.
Look, I'm not gonna get into whether you should or should not run away from home. One sided biases and lack of information make it impossible for any of us save you to fully understand your current position and what you should and shouldn't do. But I do know one thing, and I'll be damned if I'll let you say that. You live in America, the most economically powerful country in the world. Living conditions here are far beyond many third world countries. You would not give up what you have to live in Somalia, Haiti, or Sudan. This is one of the things that make me mad, we Americans don't know how sweet we have it. You don't know even 1% of the things people go through in those countries, hell I read up on alot of this crap and I acknowledge I don't know squat about their living conditions. Let?s try some comparison. An Iraqi man waked up at dawn in a small house in Bagdad, another car bomb interrupts his early morning routine as he sees smoke rising out the window. Insurgents continue to roam the shadows of the city and try to destabilize the government in any way they can. His late brother was killed in a suicide bombing and his funeral was yesterday, that?s the third family member since the war started. And what is he going to do? Why he's going to get his nice shirt on and go to work. Now lets take you, you have a mildly (Yes, it is mild, he isn't beating you on a basis, this is mild) abusive step father that has entered your family. You go to school, enjoy at least a mid-range life, play video games and chat with people online in your free time. What-cha gonna do? Well I guess you want to run away because someone?s may or may not be a control freak. Huh, I'm gonna be guessing who the stronger person is here, and I'm gonna tell you never to think you could live in a third world or unstable country unless you actually mean it. Teenage angst is not an excuse for believing you could ender the suffering of millions when you don't even know what it is. And before you go saying ?I don?t know what its like,? I assure you, my life has some stories within itself.

Bullet proof shades creaked in small amounts of light from outside, a tall man sitting at his desk reading a thick clipboard with two more piled onto his desk. A broad hat sat upon his head with a dark brown trench coat thrown upon his back. An oriental cane leaned on the chair with its dragon head handle. Small plaques lined the walls with war buddy photos and medals. Canku grunted and tossed the clipboard into the trash. Too bad another came right at him as one of his aids brought in yet another stack of papers. Ku grunted. ?Another list of crimes already?? The aid nodded. ?Just sent over by the JCLPD sir.? Canku reached for the list and flipped through the endless pages. This was how things worked these days. After the Anarchy Riots the government thought that if they instituted two police departments they could solve the crime problem. Thus the they were separated into the Justice City Local Police Department, and the Justice City Police Department. What was the difference? The JCLPD had all the local cops and was basically the police department; patrolling, investigating, and protecting. What was the JCPD? Offense. The JCPD was one big SWAT team with enough firepower to backup the JCLPD when they needed it. Too bad both departments were unbelievably undermanned. New York city was the same size as Justice City, they had a Police Department of over 40,000. Justice City?s two departments could barely hold on to 5,000. Canku tossed the fourth clipboard in the trash. ?We lost thirteen more cops last night?? The aid nodded again solemnly. ?Two more are missing and presumed dead.? ?Damnit, how are we suppose to get more recruits with casualties like this?? ?Well sir, at least some of our officers got aid from those new super hero?s roaming around.? He swiveled his chair around to look out the kevlar window shades. ?They certainly weren?t there for those fifteen cops now were they? They weren?t there for all those officers who?ve died in the line of duty. They think they can save the world, but people are still dying and police are still being shot. I don?t think those hero?s can do much for this city. Two dozen crimes were stopped by super heroes last night, over a hundred were stopped by brave officers. What gives them the right to take the glory over the news when my men and the officers of the JCLPD are dying in the line of duty every night and day?? ?Well they still help though sir.? The aid timidly replied. ?And they can do worse. The Golden Gate Incident of 1934. A super hero was fighting a super villain and he slammed the villain into the main support beam of the bridge. The bridge lost stability and complete collapsed. Hundreds died. Heroes are reckless vigilantes, they can cause far more damage then they think.? Swiveling his chair back to look at the young man. ?Then why do you keep them around sir?? ?Because,? He said. ?They give hope to the people, they?re a shining star to the people of this city that they can look up to. A star in the sky can?t do much, but its got people believing in something.? I've already spoke to Wraith via PM and he agreed that a normal person could be accepted, so here's my characters profile. (Nickname): The Cane Man Real Name: Canku (AKA Ku) Kwong Current Occupation: Police Chief, part time bar owner. Place of Birth: China, Shang hai, Marital Status: Widowed Height: 6?3 Weight: 178 lb Eye Color: Hazel Brown Hair Color: Light Grey Hair Length: Trimmed down to his neck. Clothing: A dark brown open trench coat accompanied by black slacks and a plane white dress shirt. He wears a simple brown hat with a inconspicuous label reading ?POLICE? scribbled on it. An oriental dragon cane is often grasped in his right hand, carved with great care in Beijing. Personality: A usual calm and quiet man, its not to hard to compromise with such a man nor is it to deal with. However such a man has set limited, and should one break such limits you will see the brunt force of what is left in old man. Character History: Born on September 28th 1945, Ku was born right at the end of the great Sino-Japanese war that rocked both China and Japan. His father was a veteran Chinese Nationalist soldier in one of the few remaining elite German trained divisions, and his mother a farmer?s daughter whom he met in the countryside during the battle of Shanggao. Within the war scarred port city of Shang hai they raised him as best they could, but fate seems never to kind to the people of China as the Revolution struck in a red tide just two years later. With the ROC seemingly powerless to stop them, all the loyalist were forced to exodus the country or face the reprisals of the communist victors. As the family desperately fled the mainland they crossed onto the coastal island of Quemony, which they thought safe with thousands of ROC soldiers rallying in the location. There again they tried their best to raise Canku in an atmosphere of terror, of course terror is never unjust. Within another couple years, the PRC began bombarding Quemony with artillery, eventually killing the Kwong couple who were out walking towards the local fish vendor. An American news reported had been close friends with the Kwongs and was deeply troubled by the event. He took Canku, whom was now an orphan, and returned to the United States were his wife and himself raised the child as their own. Canku quickly grew to a very tough and respectful child who eventually enlisted in the army to fight in Vietnam, winning a silver star for covering a South Vietnamese platoon retreating by manning a burning vehicle in the Tet Offensive. Eventually returning from the war, he became a police officer and quickly climbed the ranks. A higher up noticed such talent and suggested to him that there was a new city that boasted an unbeatable police department, inquiring that Ku should be reassigned there. Such a transfer soon happened and he was assigned to Sergeant of the Justice City Police Department. Too bad he came during the eye of the storm, just within a few weeks of his transfer the Anarchy Riots broke out. Local crime bosses and terrorist groups let loose such a chaotic mess that the JCPD finally cracked. With thousands of rioters running rampant, fire bombs going off, and local thugs battling it out with police, the department collapsed. The Captain, the Lieutenants, most of the Sergeants were assassinated over the course of the week long riot. The federal?s were forced to call in the 101st Airborne and the 1st Infantry to restore order, and once they left everything was still in shambles. With Canku being one of the few Sergeants still left alive, he assumed Chief of the department and quickly took what was left and grabbed some more. He demanded more firepower from the federal government, more funding, and more equipment. His crackdowns crowned him the nick name ?Cane Man.? Not only for his ornate cane he carries, but for his ruthless discipline of the city. Despite all these efforts however, Justice City is far from safe. The JCPD can?t get enough recruits and is horribly undermanned. Crime is still rampant, super villains literally control sectors of the city, and the police can barely hold downtown. Its a long haul for this old man, but who else is going to drag it through? Special Skills: Expert detective, Master of the martial art of Xing Yi Quan. Weapons/Gadgets: A HK-G36-C is always attached to his belt under his trench coat along with a Vikhr SR-3 submachine gun.
killing for any other reason than being opressed is wrong WRONG WRONG!!!
Hiroshima and Nagasak, I believe the deaths were about 70,000 something along with another hundred thousand facing radiation side effects. Estimated casualties for the intial invasion of japan sustained by american marines and soldiers. Japanese casualties skyrocketed into the millions, kamikaze assaults, banzai charges, the Japanese military was teaching women and child to attack the invading americans with sharpened bamboo sticks, not to mention the russians were invading from the west. Lets see how sympathetic the red army will be to the japanese people. The atomic bombs ended up ending the war with less then one tenth the deaths that would have been taken had an initial invasion would have been mounted, and what do you think we should have done, the japanese military had no aspects of surrender at that point and had dug in positions to fight to the death on the mainland of Japan. Conflicts start in blood, they end in blood.
love is stronger than war if it was genuinely felt for one another
Unfortunately I must strongly disagree with this. How many conflicts have we seen averted by love? As opposed to how many conflicts we've seen generated by other emotions, majorly hate. And other countries don't really love each other, they may be allies and have close ties, but no country is stupid enough to let their guard down to another country. International Politics is an extremely complex system that love cannot affect, I'd like to see an international conflict solved by love (Not being sarcastic, it would actually be idle) but it?s too unrealistic to happen. And moreover, humanity has been horrified by war since recorded history was chiseled into stone tablets, yet we haven't stopped yet and have created more and more deadly ways to kill one another. WWI was thought to end all wars with its horrid new weapons and massive loss of life, and yet we're still fighting today. The only way I can see world peace unfortunately is an everlasting cold war in which the superpowers of the world all have the means in which to wipe out the entire human race and the flip of a switch, but no one will do that because no one is -that- mindless and hateful to doom the entire species and world of earth as we know it. It?s the very threat of annihilation that we use for war that will eventually shield us from using these weapons. Thus my vote for Peace from war.
;) Oh and can someone give me a site on how Japan tortured Korea and China. Thanks.
This site contains photos from the massacre of Nan Jing. I only show this to those who believe that the Censorship of such events should continue. Please do not look if you are young or impressionable, the imagies are very gorey and disturbing. Dear god... The Ignorance... It burns... America the largest Econmy in the world, Japan wouldn't survive without American trade. China is only thriving since they have traded with America and other forieng countires. The Soviet Union failed because it had economic flaws, one of which was no free enterprise. Japan could take away economic support from us, and all it would do is destroy itself. Besides, Japan has free trade. The only was to stop them from trading with America is a dictatorship or reform of the system, and the people just won't let that happen. Also, everyones missles pointed at us? Care to give us an example of such a country? Russia only had missiles pointing at us (And vice versa) because we WERE THE POWERS. We were the world powers. We alone threatened each side. The leader of Nato in a sense was America, and the Leader of the Warsaw pact was Russia. Should war break out, us two countries were the ones with the most Nuclear Weapons and thus the largest threats. Besides that, who else has missles pointing at us? Britian? We've never been closer allies. India/Pakistan? They don't have enough. Norht Korea? Sure, but they barely have missiles. And they'd sooner use them on Japan or South Korea then on America. No countries has the technology or the power to outmatch us in a militarist duel. And also, what exactly did then Japanese do in the past that is important? They stole their language from China, they were isolated till the 1800's, and comparing them to other powers such as the Greeks, Romans, Chinese, and Mongols, they didn't contribute much to the world as a whole. Instead, they stayed on their islands squabbling during the Sengoku Jidia period and had no contact with other countries after the Mongol Invasion until the 1800s. And I am also a 14 year old, but your views on History prove that Japans educational system is flawed.

As an advocate of History, I find the censorship of the Japanese involvement in WWII very sad indeed. I remember listening to a NPR program about this a week ago, and after hearing from various Japanese students they found they knew almost nothing of the true involvement of Japan in the War. I remember one of the things that sticks in my mind is that when asked why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, a majority of the interviewed students said, "In retaliation of the Atomic Bombs." Mind you, these are High School Children. And I also agree with what the USA did. The estimated death toll for US soldiers in the invasion of Japan was One million soldiers. This does not even count the number of Japanese that would be killed. The Japanese told their citizens that when the Americans came to shore, they would rape their women, murder their children, and kill everyone. This had worked at Okinawa very well, in which most of the civilian population committed suicide rather then surrender to American Forces. It was so chaotic to the point that the Japan Military was conscripting every man to fight, and training women and children to attack the American with Bamboo sticks. And I never understood what made the Atomic Bombs so horrific. The same year American Bombers fire bombed Tokyo and killed 100,000 people, yet the atomic bomb only killed 70,000 people from both Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined. People say it?s a war crime, but conventional warfare still proved to be much more lethal then the bombs used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And of course, as Chinese myself, I do believe that the Japanese youth should know about the mistakes of the past, so they shall not repeat them in the future. The Rape of Nan king is one of the most horrific crimes, but there are plenty others. Using captured Chinese soldiers for bayonet practice, massacring towns, raping women, and even killing children. The Japanese youth has to realize that the War they fought was a mistake, a huge one, and they must know the mistakes of their ancestors so they shall know not to do the same.

Today, one of my friends was bragging about how her kitten was so cute. This brings me to my question?. Why? I realize Kittens are nice and cute when they?re young, but when they grow up they will become pure evil. Cats will not hesitate to scratch your face to pieces for a piece of food (Personal Experience =/). They have done to Furniture what I can only define as Crimes against Sofanity. And they don?t do a lot. I?ve been over at a friends house before were his cat sat on a chair for FOUR hours, I mean, it didn?t do anything! It sat there and just watched us. Plus don?t you think they?ve had enough glory? They were gods in Egypt, if this keeps up and we allow cats to step all over us this could happen. I am personally a dog owner, and I may just be bias, but I think dogs are much cooler. They run around a lot more. They don?t have claws, and they can learn tricks fairly easily (If cats can learn tricks, I?ve never seen it so don?t quote me >>) Yes, again, I admit Kittens were cute when they are young, but when they grow up they become lazy, furry, slicing machines. So I ask you all, why Kittens oO? In other words, do you prefer cats or dogs? Or possibly some other house hold pet? And why?

Good thing he's banned, thats probably the most horrible message I've ever seen on this forum, ever. The John Paul II was one of the greatest popes we've ever known. I remeber hearing a story how when he was nearly assassinated, once he recovered he went to jail and forgave his assassin for his sin. Such a man of patience and forgiveness is something we don't see too often in our word of modern tools and computers. This story just sent a message to me, and I'll probably never forget this man for his courage and faith. He also did many reforms in the churches, and reached out to the new generation which may be drifting away from reilgion and many of my friends are actually very sad today that the pope has died, he was the pope we grew up and knew and its truely sad this happened. His death has resorted my faith in ways, as I now question my own faith and am beginning to think of my life over again. We just have to think what kinda of Pope will we get next? Lets just hope we get a Pope that will be 1/3 the pope John Paul II was.

I've only seen the Sci Fi Version so far, but I really love the series. Infact, I started watching when the Hostage crisis on the pirson ship ended so I never saw the first episodes. Despite all these, I still think its a very addicting series. Another thing I like about it is that the Humans are desperate, they're running, they've had to result to guerilla tactics. I mean, in Star Wars, Star Trek, Warhammer 40k, humans are always dominate. However, why would we be dominate? I always found this to be kinda cliche in Sci Fi series. About the conclusion
I didn't see Boomer shoot Adama at all. It was a huge shock for me. I usually can see whats going to happen a mile away (I knew that Helo and Boomer Cylon would come to Starbucks as soon as she started getting beat) but I honestly thought she had overcome her program, since she was able to detatch the nuke and destroy the BaseStar. I was just thinking it was wrapping things up now, but BOOM Adamas down. I honestly couldn't believe it, thats probably one of the most shocking moments I've seen in a series. And they left us on such a cliff hanger =/. For one, I'm not sure if they'd actually kill Adama or if he's still alive since he's a great character (I have no idea how far medicine has gone). Whats going to happen with the President? What about Earth? Kobal? Didn't we see Cylon troop transports leaving the battle start bound for Kobal as Boomer entered the BaseStar? So many unanswered questions.
Another part I thought was well done was
when the President and Adama where playing their oh so dangerous game of BS. I really couldnt' tell what was going to happen with this. Adama seemed determined not to back down, and being unpredicatable as he has been I wasn't sure if he would resort to a bloody coup.
One more thing, do Battlestars have Anti Fighters weapons such as the equivilent to an AA gun on a carrier? This puzzled me when the
Cylon Raider earlier on tried to kamikaze the Battlestar.
Being the main ships against invaders such as the Cylons, why wouldn't they have some sort of defenses against fighters craft? Really on your fighter craft purely seems tactically unwise as if even one Raider got through the fighter blockade and hit the bridge, it would be the end.

Now this all depends on your situation. Generally, if you're in love with someone and you're GF and BF, great, thats all good. Its also fine to Love someone, but be rejected, and still think you feel for them. All these things are completely natural. However, there are WRONG ways to love someone. For instance, Stalking in my belief is a wrong way to love someone. If they clearly have no romantic interests in you and have already rejected you, you should really let it be. If you really love that person then you'll let them go and do what they wish in life, and if the time comes that they want to be back with you, then it all works out. Another is if you abuse someone. If your naturally abusive, then I'm sorry to say it, but you can't truely love someone. If you cannot control your emotions enough to have restraint or let someone go, you either have to learn to control such problems or let someone go, trust me, its for the best. Course, this in no way is directed to you ^^. This thread is very broad at the moment and since we don't know your situation we can't really analyze it. More information would help alot. I'm just using this as a way to post my opinions about relationships in general.
