I know that my stories can be hard to understand, so I want to thank both of you for reading it and for the nice words. :D I'm really impressed that there's another person on here that's fond of using Old English. I agree that the style really adds another dimension to stories and poetry. In fact, I feel that my current story would lose a lot of effect without it. Once again, thanks you two.

I purchased Stuntman, earlier this week, and it's better than I thought it would be. The most negative aspect regarding this title, is the somewhat average graphics. On one hand, the shadow effects are admirable and the amount of action being carried out onscreen in abundant. Also, it's quite a pleasure to plow through objects and watch the carnage fly and your own car become damaged. Yet, the visuals still leave something to be desired. Reflection's unique racer seems to suffer from dithered texturing and choppy animation. Also, the somewhat washed out colors are easy to look past, the animation can truly effect one's performance. So, if you've read reviews claiming such, they're accurate. Despite these shortcomings, this title really manages to shine. I was a bit turned off at the concept of playing an elaborate rendition of "Simon Says," but the sheer variety of stunts delivers a somewhat enjoyable experience. Reflections' enlistment of 30 year pro Stuntman, Vic Armstrong definitely paid off. Although, you might find yourself overtaking vehicles quite a bit, or driving through narrow openings a little too often, more elaborate stunts, such as the corkscrew and racing underneath collapsing smokestacks freshen the gameplay. I'm also pleased that vehicles other than conventional automobiles have been thrown into the mix. So, what do you guys think about this game? I feel that the unique premise at least warrants a rental.
Originally posted by MajinBuu I thought Ultimate Battle 22 was pretty good, what didn't you like about. Legends was easily the best of the 3, but UB22 wasn't that bad.
Well, I've got a solution that'll erase everyone's concern over these DragonBallZ products. Simply go to your nearest toy store and purchase some DragonBallZ collectible statues or figurines--it doesn't matter which--and repeatedly bang them together while yelling your favorite lines from the show. Would you be pathetic? Maybe. But you'd be having more fun than you would with those games. :)

Before you read this, I want to warn you that it might be boring and not make sense. We've all seen cliche' movies where someone lives alone in a scary house and people are afraid of 'em. Essentially, that's what this is based on. I tried to make it Edgar Allen Poe-ish, but I'm no Edgar Allen Poe, lol. Read it if you dare. Old streets, cobblestone roads intertwine with decrepit Northgate and Cove. Placed atop a hill, is mine own lair, so hideous, so bare. Deep within a mossy dungeon do I lurk, hoping, praying, clawing, crawling. A Rotting roof collapses above my head, windows lined with razor sharp slits, resembling spider veins flow with blood of the dead. Old NorthGate and I are falling. Death's raspy voice is calling......calling. Foreboding danger clings to rotting boards, rusted iron nails fail like dulled swords. My world is collapsing. Some claim, I have never seen the pristine light of day; claim that my skin, like my home, is peeling and gray. Horrifying tales told over again, manifest from childhood, into nightmares and multiply inside of men. Do you know what it's like to be more than a man? Deep within the chasms of dreams so true, their imaginations ran. What lies within the depths of a human being, is a methodically encroaching fear, that I'm now seeing. Living, breathing, copulating outside of my home, it watches, waits--roams. I was once a man, desperate and secluded. Slowly, my sanity wavered and they knew me as pure deluded. Inside the walls of Northgate and Cove, lurked a troublesome beast. Soon the children learned that on flesh I feast. Sprouting wings, losing humanity altogether, atop Northgate and Cove floated a beast, lighter than a feather. They trapped me within this tomb. I am a legend, this home the womb. The years give way, and a legend is birthed stronger with each passing day. Slightly, the sun both rises and sets opposite Northgate and Cove; in the distance, life repelled, casually flows. 'Tis the price of being a legend I suppose. Under mine dungeon, discarded bottles of vodka lie, scattered askew. Under mine dungeon, flames lick the walls, dusty and blue. With a shovel in mine hand, I throw coal into the awaiting furnace. On it gobbles, burning in earnest. Sweat and grit, stain my body, with each shovel I throw. Awaiting flames depravedly glow. The searing heat does not deter me from my task, rather it motivates me to fulfill an ungodly quest. Standing erect, wiping salty sweat from my brow, with a slippery arm, I admire my dungeon's charm. Facing night alone is my worse chore. Alone I snore, struggling--struggling with visions of fantasy, disaster and war. Stirring within nocturnal slumber, does an invisible demon have my number. Stirring, tossing and writhing, my soul wails dominant over my wretched crying. A nightmare, a mere hallucination shakes me from artificial chains of sanity; peering through my veil of vanity. Tingle, does my ear, as Midnight's buzzard calls unto the dead land; perched atop a fragile branch, that points accusingly towards a deserted land. To me, it chastises, to me it scolds. Oh, what sweet disaster this night doth hold! I peered into the demon's eyes, held it's glance for but a moment, only to feel an eternity's torment. Emerald pupils parted mine soul, leaving behind a conscious hole. Yet, did I enjoy death's cold hold. What tortures does the waking world bring forward? Glaring into the dark abyss, staring, creating fears to fear, ignorant to shadows creeping; aware of sweaty blankets seeping. It is with much, misguided pleasure, I continue sleeping. Sanity failing, awareness bailing, I lie on my bed, a legend, a monster, finally peaceful, finally dead.

Not only was this a case of horrible parenting, and boy is that an understatement, but the woman tried to construct a false rape charge against someone. Just imagine if the police had believed her story. This woman would have given a description of the imaginary assailant, some poor guy would have been pulled in, she would have identified him, and he would have been charged with rape and the death of the children. I can only imagine how poorly those children were brought up. This lady sounded very vein and self absorbed. Undoubtedly, she's someone who probably neglected her children for her own selfish desires...

If you could be eneyone on Otaku Boards, who would you be?
Charles replied to anime goddess's topic in General Discussion
When you're me, you don't need to be anyone else, because everything is cool when you're C-W-B. If I had to choose, I would probably be Kevin (Rick Hunter) because he was able to meet Hulk Hogan, Undertaker and Kurt Angle. Not only that, but he was able to hold the undisputed championship and sit front row in MSG!! As a wrestling fan, I'm envious beyond explanation. :therock: -
Originally posted by SuperSayian Great job to The Gaming Godfather for a topic of actual brain stimuli!!
lol, thanks Neil. :toothy: Yeah, I'm sorry that my topic caused so much trouble. I just wanted to spark a little conversation in this forum. I had no way of anticipating that it would mutate into this....
In any case, I don't think XBOX Live will save MS this time. They're just too far behind. Not to mention that the titles for XBOX are third in a three-system race. I mean, I'm gonna pick Bloodwake over GTA3? Ugh... Right. In any case, I still think MS should pull out while they still have a quasi-good reputation.
Well, I don't think that Microsoft has to catch up with Sony. In fact, it'll be quite impossible in this particular console war. As stated, Microsoft is in this for the long haul and it is focusing on it's next platform. Microsoft is merely using the Xbox as a launch pad.... Plus, remember that the video game industry, as I have mentioned, has increased overall profits by a whopping twelve percent in the past year. Third place can definitely be a profitible position for Microsoft to occupy.

Although I'm not in this discussion, lol, I'll say that Microsoft is focusing on the present to ensure the future. Statisically speaking, about 23 percent of U.S. homes are expected to have broadband access by the end of this year, with the percentage increasing to the low-40s by 2006--just around the time a new generation of game consoles will arrive. Gaming companies are obviously trying to win over these consumers as broadband technology becomes the norm. I've come to understand that the real challenge will be to make money off casual players who account for the bulk of the online game audience through simple advertising-supported games. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will initially lose money because there will be more investment by all three companies in software developers, and some of the publishers are going to be angling for better deals as far as developing games for specific platforms. But, as I have said, the casual gamers will be the target in the war. Casual players will likely look for the most steamlined deal, and obviously Microsoft's centralized network offers that.

And there is absolutely no reason for this thread. Twenty-seven dollars isn't exactly a fortune. Mow some lawns or wash some cars if you're not old enough to snag a job. Well, I'm sorry I have to close this topic, but as I hinted at earlier, no intelligent conversation will come of your ranting. Try to put some thought into a topic before you just post something this pointless. You've been here long enough to know better......

What I saw on the Playstation 2 looked eerily similar to a three dimensional fighting game. What's worse, is that the graphics closely resembled Final Bout for the PSX. Hopefully, these games will be somewhat better than the GameBoy Advance version. I swear, if I have to fight one squirrel, snake, crab or woodland creature, then I'm going to personally obliterate every copy of the game in existence.

My opinion won't be long or deep, but it will be honest. A friend isn't someone who hurts you (numerous times in this instance) and interferes in your relationships. It is obvious that this guy isn't your friend or he would care somewhat about your feelings and respect your personal life. The girl isn't worth your time if you both have a relationship going. She obviously doesn't seem to care about you as much as you care about her. You would be better off, and happier for that matter, if you found someone that cared about you and your relationship together. Unless you've never professed your feelings for her, to her, and her mutually to you, then she's not in the wrong here. Remember, any relationship is based on trust. Once you find that trust has been removed from the equation, there is no healthy relationship.

I've never yelled at a videogame, but back during the days of Aki's Nintendo 64 Wrestling games, my pals and myself had some pretty heated battles that usually resorted in a lot of hooting and hollering. Ditto for GoldenEye. But, I will yell at a game as soon as one learns how to yell back or hear me. For now, I'll have to settle for muttering profanities...

My immediate recommendation would be either Golden Sun or Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis. Ogre Tactics is the longer game, has multiple endings and allows two player support via the GameBoy Advance link cable. The main drawback to this game, is that you can't speed up your enemies attack sequences. Thus, it may be a pain to sit back and watch their attack unfold slowly on the tiny screen. However, the game does have extremely colorful, detailed isometric backgrounds and nice weather effects. Plus, the new Emblem system means that you'll frequently switch between characters. Overall, the good outweighs the bad. As you undoubtedly know, Golden Sun is your traditional overhead rpg with turn based battles. Golden Sun also supports the link cable, so that you can battle it out with a friend. The magic system and Djinn rival and surpass a lot of next generation titles out there and the storyline is deep and involving. Overall, it comes down to which type of rpg you prefer: strategy rpgs or traditional overhead rpgs. I'm sorry that I'm not helpful in narrowing it down to one game, but I'm sure that your preference to style would matter greatly.
Originally posted by Ykonis hey what crazy said confused me because i wrote that there is more than one poem in my thread. There are three(3) poems separated by a space. soory if you didnt know.
In that case I feel like a complete idiot, lol. Anyway, upon taking a look at the topic name, (Squints eyes) I do notice that now. Coupled with the fact that I minimized the topic for about ten minutes before responding while doing something else, I guess I forgot about the seperate poems when I saw people just giving out one score. As you can see, although I neglected to remember the subject header, I did read the poems carefully. :D But maybe this does give you something to think about. For some reason, they all seem to work extremely well together. With the appropriate changes to narration, you could have something there if you combined them. Once again, sorry about the mistake, heh. ;)
Originally posted by KyJaUn~FuLlEr OK well u could of just said u were dissapointed with it,
Nope, I had to tell why, simply because I'm a diehard wrestling fan and am critical of every wrestling title released. It's obvious that THQ is holding back in it's games, because they've got the rights to the only league in town. Anyway, no problem about the help.
-
Tagging isn't all that difficult. Simply move the control stick towards your partner and press the Z button. Having said that, I'm extremely disappointed with Wrestlemania X8. Initially, it was hyped to look like Raw for Xbox, play similar to No Mercy fo the N64 and have the front end of SmackDown 3 for Playstation 2. Once again, however, THQ demonstrated that it will deliver only when it wants to and not a moment sooner. This game is missiong fundamental features that older Wrestling games contained. At this point, there's no excuse for a poor CAW mode, lack of backstage fighting and weak grappling system. I'm sorry, but five front moves is a waste. I could go on, but lol, you only wanted help. I just had to include a little rant.

Well, this is the second critique in my poetry marathon for tonight (Strange mood, don't know why, lol). Anyway, I didn't like the ending. Why? It destroys the mood and contradicts the poem itself. The speaker of the poem seemingly fears being alone, as that example of fear is the only one repeated twice in the poem (see third and forth stanza). Unless this repetition was just a typo, the speaker unknowingly does have a fear. The last line seemed to interrupt the rhythm of the poem as well. Other than that, I really enjoyed the pacing and scheme. 9/10

That poem was interesting, to say the least and I feel like reading poetry so here are my thoughts. In the first stanza, love appears to be an object. You address it as having an appearance and physical feel. At the same time, the narrator hints at the deception involved with love, whilst having no clue as to what love really is. I like how the end of the stanza personifies love, removing it from the confines of merely being an object. I didn't care much for the second stanza. Directly after personifying love, you personify the sky, sun, etc. In my opinion, the poem would have been much better, had you, repeated the word "exist" instead of love. Here's my example. As the sky cannot exist without the sun As the stars can not exist without the night As the land cannot exist without the water As I cannot exist without you. I gather that the next stanza explains the pain of the speaker--pain experience through desire. My main concern with that stanza is the repetition of the word "Raining." The previous stanza contained lines that all began with "As." By using repetition in two "linked" stanzas, you're constipating your writing. It's not taking me anywhere. Next, in the fourth stanza, the point of view suddenly switches from first person narrative to third person. I believe that you should have stuck with your original first person narrative instead of going omniscient. The alteration is unwarranted and unnecessary. The last stanza really reveals the pain in the narrator and directly connects to the deceitful nature of love that you hinted at earlier in the poem. We never find out exactly what the female did to break his heart or the nature of their relationship. Thus, a mysterious air is left, unresolved. I like that style. I'll give the poem a 7 out of 10. Nice work.

Well, I suppose that Microsoft doesn't plan on abandoning the Xbox.. Recent figures indicate that the industry is up twelve percent, thanks to the console wars. Theoretically, I gather that Microsoft can hold a profitable third place if they iron out their online plans and garner stronger third party support. Interestingly enough, I hear that Microsoft plans on releasing the Xbox 2 sometime in 2006. A news bit of equal value, indicates that Microsoft has formed a deal with THQ to bring Xbox exclusives to the GameBoy Advance. The first two titles are Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and a Monster Truck title. I suppose there's a future for Microsoft's Box yet. That is, if online plans don't inflate software prices, like you mentioned Jabroni 3:16.

I start Summer School tomorrow on my BIRTHDAY!
Charles replied to Krillen's topic in General Discussion
Wow, I went to school for a year and a half straight. In order to fulfill a requirement of the Freshman Studies program, I had to go to summer school last year. I thought that it was pretty relaxing though and not only kept me focused, but helped me learn the campus layout as well. When September rolls around, you'll find that summer school has kept you tuned and it'll be much easier to adjust. Starting summer classes on your birthday isn't all bad either. Try working a twelve hour day and you'll know rough, lol. I've gotta have my money. :D -
Originally posted by Craken You mean metal gear solid?
This is getting off topic, but Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is an enhanced version of Metal Gear Solid 2, set to release later this year. Of course, this isn't the place to discuss it, either look it up on the net, or visit the thread in the PC/Xbox forum. Moving on with the topic, the idea of a shackled, seemingly bullet-proff creature, stalking the world of Resident Evil, really reminds one that the game is a remake rather than a rehash. Although it would have added to the tension, if Lisa Trevor was able to stalk the player in real time, the concept would become muddled with that of Resident Evil 3's nemesis. On the brighter side of things, we are still able to experience a similar feeling after completing the game once on normal or hard with both Chris and Jill and choosing "Once Again". Kamikaze Zombie mode is definitely a twitch fest. Resident Evil Zero's altered game mechanics will add both realism and complexity to the formula. The exclusion of item boxes means that the player will be forced to remember where they placed their items. Switching between characters in real time could add a whole new dimension to puzzles and strategy. When controlling a character, the player must decide what to leave behind, and distribute weapons and healing items. The alerations in Resident Evil Zero's formula only lead one to believe that the series is finally evolving and moving in a slightly different direction. I can only wonder what Resident Evil 4 will bring to the table.

Exactly ProudClod. LucasArts is essentially milking the franchise and releasing an over abundance of mostly average or substandard games. Star Wars Jedi Starfighter, Star Wars Racer Revenge, Star Wars Super Bombad Racing and Star Wars: Starfighter, ranged from good to poor. In all honesty, most of those titles weren't really worth my money. Star Wars: Star Fighter was enjoyable, but it's sequel didn't really impress me much. Rouge Leader for the GameCube and Jedi Outcast for the PC were probably the most notable highlights in LucasArts' recent releases. Conversely, let's not even attempt listing the problems that plagued Obi-Wan. Anyway, I guess I'll take this opportunity to mention two other games that I'm looking forward to, but forgot to list previously. Both Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus look to be coming along nicely and seem to be promising, titles. I've made threads on them, in case anyone's interested or hasn't noticed, lol. ;) Hopefully, they'll be able to pull a Moses and part the sea of sequels to find some success. :therock:

Yes, well the Playstation 2 and GameCube will likely be the more pocket-friendly machines in regard to online gaming. On the other side of the coin however, Madden NFL 2K3's one-on-one online match-ups don't look too enticing. Especially when the Sega Dreamcast allowed eight people to compete in it's football franchises. Microsoft's focal point, is that broadband will totally replace 56k modem gaming in the next five years. Although Sony will require broadband for numerous titles, I'm not sure what Nintendo's stance is yet. In the end, it might come down to a battle between bells and whistles and wallets. Some of the more intruiging features, such as match-making are positive signs that Microsoft is on the right track, as far as features go, but their staunch refusal to support a keyboard and mouse might turn off first person shooter fans. As far as the online gaming war is concerned, I'm sure that GameCube's online plans will effect Microsoft's success. Sony's incredibly large user base will ensure immediate success, regardless of connectivity (especially with titles like Final Fantasy XI). Microsoft will most likely need to strike quickly, before Nintendo can get out of the gates. You do bring up really good points, SemjazaAzazel. If the smaller user base doesn't hurt Microsoft's online plans, then the prices most likely will.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter looks nice, but if LucasArts' recent track record serves as an indication of things to come, I'll be looking forward to the title with a bit of trepidation. It's almost criminal that George Lucas allows the Star Wars name to be drug through the mud as it's been. According to what I've read, the gameplay is straightforward and feels similar to the Xbox Obi-Wan. The ability to fly and the arsenal of a bounty hunter might make this title slightly more interesting, but I doubt these slight alterations to a poor formula will do much to save this one. I'm still eager to see a successful Star Wars game make it's way to the Playstation 2 though. One of the most amazing looking games on that list, has to be Superman: Shadow of Apokolips. The visual presentation is almost up to par with that of the animated series it's based on. I hope that the horrible Nintendo 64 game, based on the same series, doesn't turn away fans from what could possibly be an exceptional game. Of course, I am also looking forward to Devil May Cry 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, Tekken 4, Final Fantasy XI, Red Faction 2, The Getaway and Blood Rayne. The scary thing is, there are tons of sequels on the market. Some of them are positive, offering nice variations to the original formulas, while others expand on what made the original so popular. Devil May Cry 2 should have no problem on the market, because Capcom heads will clamor for anything that's put out, with Resident Evil going to Nintendo's camp. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 might prove that Acclaim is shooting itself in the foot by converting it's Dave Mirra Franchise to an "Adults only" status. With it being the last title developed by Z-Axis before Activision takes over the company, this isn't much of a battle anyway. Red Faction 2 will face stiff competition. When the original appeared, the only true competition was Time Splitters, which turned off masses because of it's multiplayer-only appeal. I expect Red Faction 2 to pull out it's biggest trump card in the Geo-Mod technology. While that feature was previously a nice idea, I feel that it was used to a limited extent in the original. Hopefully, we'll see more inventive ways of using it. From what I've heard of Tomb Raider 4, the game is not coming along well. Critics of the game have claimed that it looks strikingly familiar to the other Tomb Raider games. Although I hoped for more, I can't say that I'm surprised. When it comes to Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, I'm looking at it's development curiously. From what I've read and seen, the series seems to be moving in a different direction (and trust me, it needs to move far). Boon's probably realized that the shock factor just isn't there anymore. Solid gameplay mechanics are what it's going to take to win back fans of the series. By implementing the ability to alternate fighting styles on the fly, I'm hoping that the gameplay will get a dose of the depth it needs. In short, this game will be hit or miss.
