Well, remember Falco, the game isn't entirely cel-shaded. Sly's body textures aren't cel-shaded because the team's artists felt that cel-shading is a nice technique to use, but they also wanted to make Sly look like he's part of the landscape. I'm glad to see that, like Zelda, this game will use the effect in a unique manner. What was once unique in games, is now becoming quite redundant with the cel-shading technique. Soon, lol, every game is going to be cel-shaded at this rate.

Well, it's not every day that yours truly creates a topic in Otaku Lounge, so here goes nothing. The Supreme Court on Thursday declared an end to the execution of convicted murderers who are mentally retarded, saying the United States has reached a consensus that it is cruel and unusual to put to death a person with the mental age of a child. As a result, eighteen states, including Arizona, which impose the death penalty, have passed new laws exempting prisoners who are mentally retarded, the court said. The reasoning behind this movement, is simple. Justice John Paul Stevens spoke for the court when he said that the practice was "truly unusual." It is also cruel, he said, because those with a diminished mental capacity are more likely to act on impulse and less likely to consider the consequences. The ultimate punishment of death should be reserved for the worst of murderers, Stevens said. Because retarded people are less culpable for their acts of violence, they must be "categorically excluded" from capital punishment, he concluded. I can imagine inmates pleading that they are mentally disabled in order to save themselves now. I feel that despite a criminal's mental capacity, the punishment should be death. What are your opinions on this? If you managed to read through all, that is.

Since I'm around Seph's age, I'm in the same boat. When I was in first grade, Alf was my favorite show. Now that I look back at Alf, I have to say that he's one sick alien life form. I mean, he eats cats! How cruel and sick is that?! Despite that one glaring fault, I would love to see a new Alf series for nostalgia purposes alone.

Alongside Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, Metroid Fusion is the GameBoy Advance game that I'm awaiting with the most anticipation. Due to the fact that it's being developed by the team responsible for Samus' earlier adventures, I'm sure that it will have the dashing charge jumps and diagonal ice shots that I've heard are absent in Metroid Prime. No doubt it would be a nice innovation to see the link cable come into play, allowing gamers to duke it out, like Desbreko hinted at.

I gather it's Goten. I think I recall Goten showing up and attacking Vegeta during his fight with Bebi. Shortly thereafter, Bebi takes over Vegeta's body.

I agree with ProudClod. Neil, you definitely don't have to be concerned with pushing crates. I'm certain that the original didn't contain any cheap crate pushing puzzles. For that reason, I'm sure that Devil May Cry 2 will not fall into such a trap. The action is straight forward, with bosses relying on simple patterns. Combat is mainly there just to "look cool." So, in the sequal, puzzles and exploration will definitely play a big part in holding the gameplay together.

Sorry it took me so long to reply to this people. Work can be a bugger, lol. I've never really liked Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six or Rogue Spear on the consoles because of their cumbersome control. After all, they were designed with the PC in mind. The most intriguing aspect is definitely the games lighting. There are a lot of games out there that throw in superfluous lighting effects that don't add to the actual game play. To say that I didn't think a rival for Metal Gear Solid 2 would come along this quickly is an understatement. Hopefully, this title will have console-friendly controls and a strong storyline to go along with the superior graphics.
Originally posted by SSJ4BROLLI i agree with tn also. i mean if they use a teeny bopper critics will probrably dismiss this movie as another teen flick.
lol, This movie will be just another teen flick. After all, teens(or children) are the target audience and I don't really see a live action DragonBall movie winning any awards. :p
Originally posted by Sacred Warrior It will be too hard to make the SS stages work. I mean..look at SSj 3. How the hell are they going to do that?
It's elementary my dear boy. They'll a)Use computer graphics b)use a really goofy looking wig c)a combination of both. On a different note, Leonardo DeCaprio(sp) would, of course, make the perfect Trunks, while Hugh Jackman (Wolverine of X-men) would make a respectable Vegeta. Lastly, I think that Pamela Anderson or whatever her last name is now, would make a perfect Bulma. Although, I think Pamela is dying from a form of hepatitis, or so I've heard. lol, The ox king can be played by Will Smith.

I have to disagree with you guys. Telling people that you've masturbated with a foreign object really makes you sound cool. Heh heh. If you lie about it on an online forum you get ten more "cool" points. Yeah, obviously, people who play themselves in life, are the ones that secure the leading role.
Originally posted by Justin But honestly, that test isn't the best or most accurate I've ever seen. It needs more questions outside sexuality. -Justin
I agree. Hello, my name is Billy. I drink excessive amounts of alcohol and do generous amounts of drugs in my spare time. Tomorrow, I'm going to get my fifty-sixth body piercing. Guess where? ;) When I'm not downing a forty or breaking a bottle of Jack Daniels over someone's head, I'm killing small animals and throwing their blood at even smaller children. My entire body is covered in tattoos of naked women and satanic emblems, but the guys on lockdown like to call it art. But, I'm not a bad guy. After all, I'm 86% pure.

To unlock the Power Plant level, head down to the bottom of the Snowy Roads stage with the gas station and the long building. Drive over to the barricade and blast them away. Drive down and there should be a small flat area. Once down there, turn right and drive up the hill. Slightly over that hill is the black cube tucked away. To unlock the Prison Passage battleground, head up to the carnival section of the Suburbs level. Then jump to the nearest depot building. From there, jump across the buildings until you reach one with a block on it. Destroy it and grab the black cube to unlock the Prison Passage.

I agree with ZeroG214 and Majroa's Mask. Being set on rails, the Nintendo64 version of Star Fox seemed too much of a cinematic experience. Although there were branching paths, one could see everything the game had to offer in a couple days if they moderately play the game. Should the new Star Fox play somewhat like Rouge Leader, I'll be satisfied. Giving orders to your allies and having freedom of movement would be nice additions to the series' gameplay. I just hope that the storyline is still up to par with the other Star Fox titles.

Although Agronaut developed this game and has plenty of experience with platformers, I'm just not into Harry Potter, so I've never played this game. However, being the nice guy that I am, I searched for a strategy and the following is what I found.
You have to attack them from close up (and only right when they attack you), and back up to avoid their flames. They have to be defeated to proceed. In the section where you burn down the plants to go up the hill, go right instead to fight a turtle, then get a wizard card. Once you finish the Forest, Hagrid will give you a flute.
I hope that helps. If not, perhaps we have some kind of Harry Potter expert that'll come along, heh heh.
Originally posted by SemjazaAzazel Sorry about the long post *-*.
Heh heh, no need to be sorry. That was a nice post. It's good to see people put time into what they write. :toothy: Now, the concept of creating an action rpg game based on playing cards seems a little unorthodox at first, but the developers of Lost Kingdoms have taken an obscure concept and made it work. The GameCube isn't rich in the rpg department yet, so I feel that it's nice to have an innovative title with deep character customization. I have to admit that the lack of physical inteaction in this game (mainly in battles) seems like a turn-off, but hardcore gamers should always give strange concepts a try. The game combines elements from battle and strategy games, while keeping stats, collecting and combining in the formula. The flat characters and plot are the game's main downfalls though.
Originally posted by ProudClod I like your idea Seph. It is cool, but dont forget that this level up format should last for the whole game, amd if the game is short, youll end up having a pretty crappy Dante for the final boss, although you can start again with all of your current stats (after completing the game that is), but I dont find it that more convincing than the first time round. As for the AI in DMC, I sort of agree with Ragnarok and CWB. Yes it would suit the puppets to run away from you, but not to get emotional over the death of another puppet, I like the idea of tactics though :) .
You agreed with Ragnarok? I'm sorry, but that guy doesn't know anything, lol. ;) Anyway, I've heard that the developers of the original Devil May Cry have realized that the first game could either be catagorized as too easy or too difficult. As a result, Devil May Cry 2's difficulty will adjust to how you play the game. Also, more attention is being paid to the Devil Trigger, skill fee, and combat maneuvers. Being able to run on the walls is going to be a blast. :toothy: I really hope that they improve the enemy designs too though. Some of the enemies looked really cool, but the idea of fighting a legion of possessed marionette puppets is silly.
Originally posted by The Elite DBZ Please don't go into a big mouse and keyboard vs pad argument though...
As far as first person shooters go, there really isn't much of an argument, heh heh. To be fair, I do like the new control setup provided in Medal of Honor: Frontline. While it's not as efficient as a mouse and keyboard, it is slightly more efficient than the original layout. The A.I. really isn't really too bad in this version though. Medal of Honor games are generally very good in terms of computer intelligence. The bad end of the stick, is that the enemies seem to die easier than in the PC or PSX versions. The newly added scripted events such as bar fighting and the added carnage during the initial Omaha Beach landing are really nice touches that help seperate this from past Medal of Honor games.

We recently had a topic on mod chips. Similarly to your topic, we delved into the hassles of modding and all of the negative drawbacks that accompany modding. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing modding or anything, but your thread seems to be a frustrated rant about mod chips, so the information in this thread would probably accommodate you. You can check it out HERE. Once again, it was a pretty good discussion.
Please someone tell me that the gamecube will not be have any chips cus chips are tacky and cheap and crap. The X-BOX has the Enigima chip which is similar to the Messiah and I really hope that the cube is gonna be CHIP-FREE. Besides where can u find a CD that small.
I know that mod chips for the GameCube exist. People who import the Panasonic Q, often mod their GameCube. But, remember, this is the Sony forum. ;) Now, I'm going to close this topic because there is no real need for it. You seem to be fully educated in modding and your only real questions center around consoles other than Sony's.

April 2003 in Japan will mark the return of the Star Fox series' to it's space shooter lineage. This game will be the result of Namco, Sega and Nintendo jointly developing the Triforce arcade board. I've also read that Namco will develop 14 games for the GameCube and GameBoy Advance, including Soul Calibur 2, Ridge Racer and Tales of Destiny. In a surprising move though, the original team that worked on Star Fox 64 will not be a part of this new Star Fox title. Namco has instead, decided to utilize its Ace Combat team for this upcoming title. First, gets behind the helm of the F-Zero series and now this. :toothy: So, what does everyone think? Is this good or bad? I for one, am a little disappointed that none of the Star Fox 64 team is behind this one, but I'm sure that Namco can do the game justice.

I agree with Sephiroth; Allied Assault is definitely the better game. Comparing the D-Day missions, you'll notice that the PS2 version captures the landing better, but the PC version's beach is much larger and captures the feeling of utter chaos. Graphically, the PC version is much sharper as well, though it takes a pretty powerful PC to realize that (hugs PC). Plus, like Seph said, the pc version has Multiplayer support. I'm a little surprised that Frontline didn't have a split screen multiplayer mode of some sort. I haven't been through all of Frontline's levels, so it's hard to comment on level design, but judging from the structure of PC titles and the comparison between the only similar level between the twp versions (Omaha Beach), I'm willing to bet that the PC version has larger, more intricate level design. You can't go wrong with either game though. Both have some of the best music recorded for a videogame, killer atmosphere and solid gameplay.

I've seen this game in action and it is phenomenal. In all certainty, we're probably seeing what could become Capcom's next big franchise. The competition is tough with Medal of Honor Frontline already being released, so I hope to see a strong plot and a strong control interface. Aiming and camera issues are generally the biggest concerns when developing a game like this. Especially when enemies are able to hide behind buildings and other obstacles. Most importantly, I hope that the game delivers in the length department. Although nice attention seems to have been dedicated to the combat structure of Red Dead Revolver, I am not interested in buying an hour's worth of gun slinging. As I mentioned, Capcom could have something big here; presently, Wild West simulators are nonexistent on consoles as far as I know. Although solid shooters like the aforementioned MOH: Frontline and Red Faction are available, the theme of this game alone, could set is apart from the pack. If RDR is a success, we'll probably be swimming in carbon copies.

Well, the original plan was actually for Gokou and Gohan to fuse, doing the dance. However, Rou Dai Kaioshin pointed out to Gokou, the fact that Majin Buu probably wouldn't allow Gokou and his son the time to go through the motions of the dance. After the old Kaioshin told Gokou of the earrings and their superior effects, there was no reason to worry about the dance anyhow. And Altron Gundam is correct about Gohan's Mystic form. Contrary to what ProudClod stated, the Mystic form allows Gohan to surpass any power he had previously reached as a super saiya-jin. It did more than simply "restore his power." It was more powerful than SSJ3 Gotenks, but weaker than SSJ Gokou. The overall advantage that the Mystic form possesses, is that it doesn't put Gohan under the strain that SSJ3 puts Gokou and Gotenks under.
Originally posted by James CWB: I definitely think that the guy you are referring to was biased.
I agree, and I believe that the issue of that man being biased is very important. Although I didn't catch the very beginning of the show, it is fairly obvious that the guest host wasn't a hardcore gamer--which leads to an interesting thought. Since we're talking about videogames becoming boring, I wonder if we can look at gaming through the casual gamer's eyes. After all, this guy did claim to be the average Joe Gamer. Maybe the days for games like Mario are numbered. This may be a little deep for this discussion, I dunno, but maybe people are looking for something different in games today. People who are familiar with gaming, can appreciate new Mario or Zelda titles because they know what they stand for. On the other side of the coin, there are people spoon fed games that are more so interactive movies than anything. Maybe it wasn't just that this guy was biased, but also the direction that times and people are taking. Enough of my rambling though. I think I might be going past the point of this whole thread, heh heh.
Originally posted by Sephiroth ugh, they're going overboard with the THPS series, a fifth one has already been confirmed....
I'm a little on the fence with the constant release of so many Tony Hawk games. On one hand, Neversoft and Activision manage to release high quality sequels that manage to remain fun due to ingenious level design and tweaks to the gameplay. Without question, every Tony Hawk game has managed to maintain the pure fun of gaining a high score. That one factor alone, takes me back to the days of gaming past. Yet, I would really like to see what a Tony Hawk game would look like after a couple years of development time, as opposed to a single year, if that. Eventually, we may get too much of a good thing and the games won't be "special" anymore. Still, I advise everyone to check out the fourth game. For instance, Smokey Joe brings up a good point. As I said in a thread I made about the game in the Sony forum, one of the coolest aspects is the level of interaction with the characters populating the worlds. Now, instead of just plowing them down, you can initiate a conversation and participate in contests or task challenges. The professional skaters themselves feature authentic spoken dialogue. So, if you want to chat it up with Bob Burnquist (yep, he's back) you're free to do so. Lastly, the addition of mini games is sure to crank up the multiplayer value. The announcement of a fifth game and the reported quality of Tony Hawk 4 leaves me wondering if the Neversoft employees are kept in cages or something.

Ladies and gentlemen," the Tenkaichi Budoukai announcer said, addressing the crowd whilst trying to maintain a degree of positivity, "what an unpredictable tournament we have had thus far!" Rays of sunlight glinted off of the young man's dark sun glasses as he grinned widely, showing off pristine white teeth. Now, speaking forbiddingly, he deepened his voice and added, "The past two matches have both resulted in two respective deaths." The announcer paused briefly, so that the full impact of his words could reach the fans. Meanwhile, Blue began to grow impatient. These other Saiya-jin--something's wrong. An unwarranted tap on the shoulder ripped Blue from his train of thought and face to face with a soldier of the Red Ribbon Army. Some of the other contestants watched as the man leaned over and whispered something in Blue's ear. Immediately following the soldier's message, the Saiya-jin warrior turned on his heel, and hurriedly rushed into the inner confines of his locker room, allowing the door to swing shut behind him. Nary a minute's time elapsed, when a strange rumbling sound developed and grew louder. Unexpectedly, Blue burst through the door once again, this time on a skate board, pushing off with his foot and exploding down the aisle, grabbing and dragging the messenger behind him. Raising her eyebrows, Aster looked on with puzzlement. I didn't count on this. What's the point of it all, Blue wondered to himself. Upon arriving at the entrance gate to the arena, Blue was met with Colonel Red. Beside him, stood Emna Briefs. We have plans for you two, boy," Colonel Red said, savagely pushing the blue-haired girl forward. Dangling from her hands, were sheets of paper containing charts, formulas and pictures of the other Saiya-jins. Uneasily, the Emna told Blue, "We have to talk."
