I know that the number of high profile games exclusive to Xbox is rather sparse. Surely enough, Microsoft and Sega are responsible for a number of potential quality titles, but none possess the deep nostalgia as the game I speak of (besides Toe Jam and Earl, methinks). I know that news of Ninja Gaiden making its way to Xbox may not necessarily be brand spanking new news to everyone, but the sheer potential of the title is staggering. Upon taking a look at some screens of the game, one immediately notices how spectacular the graphics are in Team Ninja's latest effort. Although they don't look particularly superior to Dead or Alive 3, I must admit that the idea of an entire adventure containing both environments and characters of similar quality to Team Ninja's brawler is quite tempting. Hehe, that may be wishful thinking though. I doubt that the character models will have such a high polygon count for most gameplay portions. But, let's forget about the visuals. The true test of this game will be the gameplay experience. Let's hope that we get something a little old school despite the seemingly cinematic visuals. So, am I the only one actually interested in this game? I guess that this is a bone for old school gamers, especially.
Originally posted by ssj3 no affence to anyone who likes hercule. (if there is such a moron)
Actually, I happen to like the character and I'm certainly not a moron. First of all, let's get things straight. The name is Mr. Satan! Now, if that name isn't badass then what is? Furthermore, I wish that more people would realize that Mr. Satan, although not able to physically compete with the other Z Warriors, is still a vital character. As I mentioned before, it was Mr. Satan who assisted Son Gokou in defeating Buu and it was Mr. Satan who took part in creating Videl. If his daughter was never born, then Pan wouldn't exist. If you've ever seen DBGT, you'd realize that she is a vital character to that series. Also, it was Mr. Satan who allowed Buu to fully connect with his benevolent side. Let me fully explain the importance of this. If Buu hadn't known what it is to feel loss and anquish (when Mr. Satan was shot), he would have never split from his evil side. As a result, Mystic Gohan or Gotenks would have surely defeated Fat Buu. Do you know what that means? Yep, no Vegetto. Heck, Ubuu might have never been created, seeing as how Son Gokou would have never been returned to the mortal world. On that note, Vegeta would have remained deceased as well. Most importantly, we can't forget the comic relief that Mr. Satan provides! He's just one funny guy. Yeah baby, Mr. Satan all the way! :toothy:

Icy nights melted away into warm days. The pale sunlight and calm heavens seemed to disguise the silence before the storm as a time of peace. Perhaps for the first time in decades, even centuries, patches of grass were able to sprout where sickly pools of blood once clung. Ironic was it, that during times of quiet, blood lust and selfish desires of global conquest appeased the masses. Were these people any better than the vile Furiza? Cell? Or even Piccolo Daimoa, for that matter? Were Son Gokou alive during these times, he would die of a broken heart. Time training under the Red Ribbon Army was particularly difficult for Blue. Following his acts of disobedience, the young Saiya-jin bio warrior had been put to the test both physically and mentally. Although he hadn't seen Emna since "the incident," he was sure that she would be at the tournament to provide proper "motivation." Often times, Colonel Red threatened that if Blue failed in any way during battle, the girl would die. Ignorant to Blue's true ambitions, the Colonel still held the symbolic "trump card" in this game. Blue's concerns for Emna were purely self serving. If she had the power to create Saiya-jins, then she must have the power to destroy Saiya-jins. He knew it. Let them walk me through hell, Blue thought, the fire isn't that hot anymore. Humans were thick; ignorant to the mechanisms of their own undoing....mechanisms that they, themselves, put into place. Blue could never understand why people thought that they should control everything and what they couldn't control must be destroyed. The day of reckoning quickly approached. Repeatedly, Blue told himself that he could have anything he wanted just by finding it inside himself first. Surrounded by Red Ribbon representatives and armed guards, his feet touched earthen ground for the first time since his recapture. The Colonel had selfishly worked him into a state of exhaustion. Night after night, Blue writhed in gravity chambers, drowning in his own cold sweat. He remembered his own hand reaching up, trembling, as if searching for freedom. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," they told him. It was true. The Saiya-jin was much stronger that he had previously been. Admittedly, Blue felt a slight pang of guilt. Despite his own motives, he was actually quite eager to see how the other Saiya-jin progressed--if they progressed. Most of all, he was eager to see if the menacing power that he had once felt would reappear. Would he see Aster again? Or that silly looking one with the gauntlet? The colonel's growling brought Blue back to earth. We have to sign up, he shouted in disbelief, crashing his fist down upon a desk, nearly frightening tournament personal to death. Entering the locker room, Blue found that he was the first Saiya-jin warrior to arrive. Surrounding him, were numerous demons that would fight for humans too stubborn to upgrade to more expensive bio Saiya-jin warriors. In the room was a Chasm Demon, the often hyped, Mephguour, the Mhorashty, the rather large Tam-Rek and even, The High Demon Khalkaroth. Although their powers were significantly greater than the demons he and the others vanquished before, he wondered if they could truly hold their own against Saiya-jins. "They sure do look tough," he said to himself. Blue's excitement had made him quite hyper active. As soon as the others arrived they would draw numbers and for the first time, true battle would begin. Who could know what fate would hold in store for these unnatural warriors and a seemingly doomed planet?

I am personally pleased with Capcom's decision to take the "X" series in a new direction. Obviously, recent additions to the series have failed to really move it forward. I expect that Capcom will give MegaMan X7 the time in development that it rightfully deserves. As far as gameplay is concerned, I highly doubt that the game will be made too similar to MegaMan Legends. The X games are known for their action. I'm confident that Capcom will preserve the twitch gameplay synonymous with the series while at the same time, introducing new concepts to make MegaMan seem fresh again.
Originally posted by ProudClod There is only one aspect of the game which discourages players to collect all of them, the cheats, people think what is the point of going through all that effort if you could just bash in a few buttons! I hope to think that rockstar regret putting cheats for gta3, and will hopefully not put them in vice city.
I have known about the cheats since shortly after purchasing Grand Theft Auto 3. However, the only one I've actually used, is the cheat that allows limbs to be disconnected. My point is, that it's the player's choice whether he/she wants to use a cheat or not. Thus, it wouldn't matter whether Vice City had cheat codes or not. The choice is with the player. My bet is that there will at least be GameShark codes available to Vice City. Will you use them? It's up to you. On that note, I'm going to close this topic. This discussion has degenerated into a Grand Theft Auto 3 topic and we've had our fair share. Maybe when more information for Vice City is revealed, we can try another thread on it. Anyway, I've cleaned things up a bit by bringing back an old Grand Theft Auto 3 topic. If you want to talk about the game, do it in there.

I had to go to summer school last year as per a requirement for a program that I was in. It was actually quite fun and helped prepare me for college by keeping my mind fresh and allowing me to learn the layout of the campus. Unlike most freshmen, I wasn't wandering around aimlessly when the fall semester hit. :toothy: This summer, I'm dedicated to relaxing though. Too much stress is never a good thing.

This topic isn't meant to discuss the actual game. There is already a topic that deals with the actual DragonBall games. Additionally, the purpose of this topic has already been accomplished. Thus, there is no reason to keep it open.

Well, honestly you've tried what helps me, namely art and writing. I know a couple things that might help you vent your emotions. Get a sheet of paper and a pencil. Simply let your emotions move the pencil for you. It is quite possible to draw what you're feeling. Don't think, just move the pencil according to how you feel. You mentioned that you tried art, but maybe you didn't try this. If you haven't, then maybe you'll find some results with this method. If that doesn't help at all, try talking with someone close to you, similar to how you posted your message. Sometimes, just getting your feelings off your chest vocally, can really help. Lastly, just screaming can relieve a lot of stressful feelings. Just find a place to be alone and yell. I didn't read the Blind Date thread. Perhaps I should, but the solutions I listed are viable for most problems.

Anime Japanese and American versions - what's the real differance?
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve There are NO bad words in DB/Z/GT besides the common "hell" or "damn" if you consider those "bad words"
LOL, In my subbed versions of DBGT and DBZ the characters drop the F-bomb and say words like a-hole. Hehe, Gotenks even swears when he is being absorbed by Buu. Anyway, butchering Mr. Satan's name was the greatest sin ever committed. Oh yeah, and who could forget Muten Roshi's drunken monkey fighting technique being changed over to the "Mad Cow" or whatever. The cheap cut-outs of cows and milk cartons floating behind Roshi in the background are bound to have confused kids everywhere. -
Hehe, well let me elaborate on this people. If I were to, right now, list all of the Kart racers out there, I would probably have to triple post. :toothy: What I mean to say is, that if Mario Kart doesn't do something that sets is apart from the sea of other Kart racers, then why bother? I mean, it doesn't have to be revolutionary as in "Oh my God, this is unbelievable!" No, what I mean is, this one should revolutionize multiplayer in Kart Racing by having more options and flexibility. You know, similar to Goldeneye and what it did for first person shooters. Heck, a unique look or the aforementioned single player expansion would even due the trick.
-
I'm going to have to agree with most of the others on this. In a fighting game it is possible for the characters to exhibit unique abilities and advantages based on background environments. While such a thing may be possible in a board game or racing format, the impact just wouldn't be there. Quite frankly, there's only so much one can do to make playing as a multitude of characters a fun and unique experience. As you may notice in Mario Kart or Mario Party, Nintendo doesn't make much of an effort to cram a vast number of chracters into the game, because there really isn't a need to. Lastly, it's more fun to think about who would win in a fight between Mario and Link rather than seeing who would cross a finish line first or win a board game. Hehe, anyway, board games usually depend on luck anyway. Unique character abilities based on stages and whatnot, would only cause frustration among the people actually playing the game. After all, who wants to face unfair disadvantages in a freakin' board game?

OOC: Okay, I just tied up the storyline for my own character until the tournament, so I advise everyone to do something similar sometime soon, so that we can get this show on the road. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The streets told tales of innocent beginnings and gruesome ends. Brown stains of blood, savagely spilt, undauntingly remaining as a reminder to those among the living, served as a scar on the surface of an otherwise seemingly peaceful town. At a glance, the streets seemed quiet, the people similar. Yet, extended observation revealed unwavering fear in the eyes of those who walked alone. Homes, though neat, were unusually decrepit, seemingly neglected for months at a time. Lawns sprawled forth with crabby grass and moss covered ornaments, long knocked over, now becoming one with the dark moss. As Blue and Aster landed gently, with their children companions in tow, the dogs of war were unleashed. Immediately, troops were upon the strangers, circling and surrounding like buzzards under a hot desert sun. In the distance, a siren, wailed similar to a moan of death. Obviously, allowing the Monban leader escape, radio intact, was quite a mistake....or was it? Blue remembered clearly, the dangling box slapping against the side of the man's leg as he fled through the trees, slipping and stumbling. Raising his fists into the air, Blue noticed that Aster shared his expression of anxious excitement. Winking at one of the soldiers, Blue bellowed confidently, "Junior, we're running you outta this town. Herding these people like sheep-" Blue began to lose his cool. "Using them until they can't be used any more-" Dust kicked up, creating a pseudo tornado around the warrior. "Hurting them. Abusing them. Killing them-" Stammering, losing their composure, the soldiers collectively began to flee, while the children crouched down, holding their heads, seemingly attempting to block out the ensuing chaos around them. "Taking away everything--playing God! I know all about people who play God!" Finally, Blue let everything go. In a blinding flash of pale blue light, he unleashed his energy and rose into the air, looking down upon the fleeing souls, as if judging their fates. If someone asked Blue how he felt at that moment, it would be impossible for him to devise an answer. It all seemed to pass so fast. Extending his palm, he watched the ants scatter, he watched the energy resonate at the base of his hand, shooting up it, shoulder length, and finally escaping, bathing the wretched creatures in instant death. Aster, devoid of all pity for Blue's victims, proceeded to destroy various Red Ribbon outposts, killing officers residing within. Invading one such structure she encountered a middle aged man. In his gray eyes, she saw no signs of human compassion. Growing increasingly enraged, she watched as he begged for his life. Apparently self preservation was the only instinct such a selfish soul could possess. After blasting apart the structure, with the man still inside, the chattering of a radio caught Aster's attention. Down below Colonel Red tossed Emna Briefs, bound in glowing shackles, at Blue's feet. Noticing Blue start towards his creator, Colonel Red, smiled grimly and taunted, "Go ahead. Remove the shackles and she dies, just like my men did." Walking up to Blue, and placing his arm around the Saiya-jin's shoulder, the Colonel whispered, "Boy, I'm a forgiving man. I can forgive you for disobeying me. I can forgive you for running off. Hell, I can forgive you for killing my men and destroying my outposts, but boy, if you cost me the opportunity to rule the world...I damn sure won't forgive you. I'll make you pay." Blue lowered his head, realizing that he had been outwitted--knowing what he must do. Agitated, Colonel Red grabbed Blue's chin and nose to nose, slowly and deliberately formed his words, "This girl is the closest thing you've got to a mother ain't she boy? Well, I'll tell you what, if you don't win that God damned tournament, I'll make sure that you both stew in hell. Now let's get going." Releasing his grip on the Saiya-jin's chin and turning on his heel, the commander ordered his personal officers to seize the girl. Noticing Blue's hesitation, Colonel Red sighed and said, "Don't worry about the town. I'll bother with it no longer. After all, the entire world will be mine shortly." Cackling in a trademark evil manner all too cliche with villains, the colonel retreated to his ship, shortly followed by Blue.

Although Mario Kart for the GameCube is allegedly being developed by EAD itself, I doubt that we'll get a similar experience compared to the Nintendo 64 version. Everyone knows that Kart racing have grown incredibly stale. Thus, I expect Nintendo to implement some fresh concepts in this one. Like the Nintendo 64 version, I know that split screen multiplayer will be included and built upon even further than before. in addition, I agree with anyone who feels that the game should be taken to the realm of online gaming. To my knowledge, no other console Kart title has gone online. Such a feature would definitely pull Mario Kart ahead of the pack. Although, Miyamoto doesn't appear to favor online console titles, I wouldn't count out the possibility. Moving on, wouldn't you guys like to see the game take on a look similar to Zelda's? Mario Kart is a light hearted game, and the visuals would probably fit this title perfectly. One other thing that can be done, is expand on the single player experience. Maybe, we could see an overworld similar to that of Mario 64 or Diddy Kong racing and the player could travel to different worlds, interact with various characters and complete goals, in addition to strictly racing. I have high hopes for this one. If it's not revolutionary on the gameplay end, then it'll be practically useless.

I had to think it over, but I'll let this topic continue for now. It's perfectly fine to debate the intricacies of X-men from graphics to gameplay, but honestly, try not to fight about it. You two started out fine and remember, it's cool to disagree. But accepting other people's opinions is a big part of debating, rather than arguing. ProudClod, I know the site rules aren't up at the moment, but refrain from "yelling" at people in caps. It's very rude. And for the record, it's important to realize that every PS2 developer is not going to be able to crank out something as stellar looking as AM2 or Namco.

Well, I'm not an Armored Core fan, but I took the time to look up a good strategy for you. I've read that his strategy of little hops is a very effective dodge for your EWG-HC-RAW so do not use it in this fight. If you have not upgraded at all before this fight, now is the time. A good strategy to beat it, is the following: Equip the ZWX-IV/Pursuit and start the battle. The opponent will advance on your position and stop when they are at the base of the skyscraper. Once they have stopped moving, fire one shot of the ZWX-IV/Pursuit as close to their position as possible. If they do not move they can take up to roughly 2500 points of damage. Continue doing this until they are destroyed or they are so feeble you can drop down and finish them off. Fire wisely since you have only four shots.

The game essentially resembles a direct DreamCast port to me. Although, Yu Suzuki said that the game will make use of some of the Xbox's capabilities, including pixel shaders.

My classes let out May 12th. It's no big though. I still have to work most of my vacation time, so not much has changed, other than a few extra hours of sleep. Enjoy life prior to employment you guys, because earning money isn't always as fun as it sounds. Wait, who am I kidding? Having cash rules! :toothy:

OOC: Majora's Mask and everyone for that matter, the tournament will start shortly. Basically, Neil and I decided to give it a little lead way because we wanted to see who exactly would post from the sign ups and give everyone a chance to develop their characters. The actual tourney will begin in a day or so. I encourage everyone to continue developing their characters until then, as it will have a profound impact on the actual tournament itself :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Who goes there? Identify yourself! Their gruff voices, devoid of feeling seemed to ignite irrevocable fear into the hearts of the children. As Myra clutched at Aster desperately, Blue carelessly leaned against a tree and yawned, whilst carefully managing his uprising anger. Lush forest, an endangered species almost ripped out of a fairy tale book, gave way as several figures draped in the Red Ribbon Army's official grunt attire surrounded their victims. Raising a fore finger to a small button, one of the individuals, a medium-sized man, frowned. The goggles clinging to his face flashed briefly of green and red. Slowly, his mouth formed the words, "Myra and Panji, 34th district--pesants." "What are you two doing out here," he demanded. Before, they could answer, he said, "You will be severely punished for these actions, as will your parents. Biting his lower lip, seemingly holding back tears, Panji slid to the ground helplessly, clutching his knees while rocking back and forth. Myra, on the other hand, tightened her monumental grip on Aster further. As for you two," the apparent leader said, addressing both Blue and Aster, "neither of you show up in my files. The punishment for entering this area without the proper identification is death." Nodding to his troops, he ordered, "Kill the intruders and bring me the children. That is all." Sobbing in pure anguish, Myra shouted, "No, don't!" Blue and Aster on the other hand, simply smiled. Sadistically, Aster told the approaching men, "We're going to make you cry." Dancing and ghost punching and arrogant as ever, Blue taunted the men to the best of his abilities. "You men don't look very bright," Blue chastised, "if it rained soup, you guys would probably carry forks instead of spoons!" Sneering, one of the Monban cussed underneath his breath and fired his assault rifle at Blue. In astonishment, the Monban soldier watched as Blue simply caught the bullets and let them fall to the ground like black pepper. Not the chauvinist, Aster simply waved her arm, sending multiple troops flying and crashing against tree trunks sickeningly. Placing his hands on his hips, Blue yelled to the commander, "Listen you, followers always get led to a dead end." Pointing his finger towards the man, Blue then added, "And you've just ran into a couple dead ends." Nodding to one another Aster and Blue quickly finished off the troops, moving at inhuman speeds, much to the astonishment of the unfortunate Monban and the children. Appearing beside the commander, who had now wet his pants, Aster and Blue each gazed into his eyes maliciously. "You're finished, understand," Blue said, grinning evilly. Silently, slowly, menacingly, Aster whispered in the commander's ear, the words, "Saiya-jins live forever--you don't." Losing his footing, the commander fell back, stammering the word, "Saiya-jin" repeatedly before retreating into the forest helplessly. Cheering and completely unaware of the meaning of the word "Saiya-jin" the children celebrated. Reality came crashing down on them. Momentarily--once their new found friends made it to town, they would be free, perhaps for the first time in their lives. Wasting no time, Aster and Blue scooped up a respective child and took to the skies, racing towards the town of Creek Ridge.

Well, I'm from New Jersey, but I'm not really thrilled. Most people in South Jersey root for the Philadelphia 76ers. The Nets, are considered a North Jersey/New York team.
Originally posted by ProudClod I prefer celda much more than the traditional graphics, but i think Shigeru Miyamoto is taking a big risk, the reason for cell shaded graphics is to be be able to add more effects of light and shade and more character expressions, but not many people see it as that, especially children! They might buy the game for its looks, take it home, have a few goes, hate it, and return it. Where as people who have a good rpg experience will think that this game looks very childish and will say no to it. Star fox is like a back up for celda, since they are very much alike, with graphic types and a difference in battle sequences, so Miyamoto is in a win-win situation here, but it is still risky both ways.
I don't think that Miyamoto has much to do with this new Star Fox, seeing as how Rare is developing it. The whole thing is sculpted after one of their old N64 projects, "Dinosaur Planet." Also, Star Fox isn't a back-up for Zelda. Nintendo wouldn't try to purposely split the market on their own games. Like I said about a Zelda remake, they'd be foolish not to show confidence in their direction with Zelda. Lastly, I don't think that Miyamoto is taking a big risk. When people hear "Zelda" they know that they're in store for something special. Anyway, I don't think that the graphics are particularly childish. If anything, they're stylish and as mentioned before, are a throwback to Zeldas of the past. I really don't see why people complain much (I know you're not, but people in general). I've never heard once, someone say that Jet Set Radio looks childish. If people buy the game, play it and return it, then graphics don't make a difference. No matter how a game looks, it's actual gameplay mechanics end up defining its success. Once people actually get their hands on the game, they'll remember why they got it in the first place: Because it's Zelda. :p
Originally posted by iggy it kinda sounds like a kittie game to me
Ugh, I'm not trying to insult you Iggy, but such a comment is hypocritical coming from someone who can't spell "kiddie." Anyway, like Disney movies themselves, I'm sure that the game will be enjoyable for gamers of all ages. Kingdom Hearts might appear innocent enough, but as I said earlier, although the story arc focuses heaily on the Disney angle, it also showcases a witty and genuine tale that is quintessentially Square. ;)

Actually ProudClod, I had copied it down while playing the remake for GameCube. I'm fairly sure that the puzzle has gone unchanged. Remember, I'm the godfather of gaming. ;) As for that water puzzle, Saiyangohan2002, I'm not sure I can help you there, as it's random. As far as I know, it has a random way to solve it each time, so it's never the same even if you turn the game off then load it up later. Good work putting that question in here though. That's the kind of thinking I like. :toothy:
