My dog hates to be left alone. If no one else is in the house, she freaks out. Hehe, she'll unplug stuff and just plain old wreak havoc, destroying everything in reach. The strangest thing though is that she mysteriously falls unconcious late at night. :drunk: My cat is really insane. She's seven years old, and to this day won't let anyone hold her. The funniest thing she does is perch herself just out of the dog's reach and look down on her. It drives the poor pooch even more insane than she already is.
Originally posted by Fly-T BTW, WHERe would you find the Bandana thingee on snake's head (Where he points to his head and says infinite ammo) is it in both missions?? does the difficulty count??
The bandana is available only in the Tanker episode for Snake. After you've accumulated about 30 to 40 of the dog tags from the Tanker, this item will become available. The next game on the Tanker will have this item already in Snake's inventory. When he has it equipped, he will never run out of ammo.
Originally posted by The Vampire: Ed I hope no one takes offense to my opinion, but I think this Zelda looks horrible.
Hehe, this is coming from somebody who hates every cel shaded game. I mean c'mon man, you even said that Jet Set Radio Future looked bad. Then again, I guess the cel shading technique isn't for everyone. It's kind of a love it or hate it thing. I just think it'll be interesting to see if people talk about how the newest Zelda plays instead of how it looks after its finally released. I saw the video and it reminded me a lot of the other Zelda games. The animation was great and the game has a nice flow of speed. For some reason I just want to watch some Saturday morning cartoons after seeing that trailer. Anyway, it would neat if there were traces of the Ico forumla, where Link had to lead his sister around. :drunk: Oh yeah, and that spin attack looks wicked. I bet it drains some kind of health though. Something like that can't be free.

The first Zone of Enders seemed like an afterthought for Kojima and played second fiddle to Metal Gear Solid 2. There was definitely potential, though. For a mech game, ZOE controlled really well and it was really satisfying to destroy a building and watch it go down in a brilliant flash of light. Hopefully, the sequel will offer better voice acting and a stronger plot, like you mentioned. The overall story of the first Zone of Enders was completely forgettable until the game was almost over. Sadly, by what you're saying, it seems like we'll be limited to only one mech and one character again. Ah well, if they keep the targeting system and friendly interface and join them with a longer quest and better storyline, we'll be talking one hot sequel here.

My Uncle Vinnie was annoyin'. He's not a problem anymore though. The family took him on a fishin' trip, yeah a fishin' trip, and he hasn't bothered us since. :)
Originally posted by Solid Snake I very much agree with everything that you just said, and am behind you all the way. The Zelda screenshots, though better than what was originally planned out, leave me wanting more. Sure, they are great for cel-shaded, but am positive that GameCube has the potential to create this game, realistic or no realistic environment, in 3 dimensional polygon graphics (think an advanced version of the Nintendo 64 Zeldas visual-wise) without changing the surface of the game, including that of the fun factor, gameplay, and atmosphere in general.
Oh yeah, of course the GameCube is capable of creating the game with a more "traditional" look. But, the unique new cel-shaded look ain't half bad. I bet that the lava monster scene that Smokey Joe mentioned wouldn't look nearly as impressive with "regular" polygonal graphics." Miyamoto just wanted to give us something different, that's all. Looking at Link's newest adventure sure won't be boring. The lighting effects are second to none. Very impressive stuff. Plus, if you're a Zelda fan, you'll love the more "old school" look. Ha, Like I mentioned earlier, I'm more satisfied with this look than Mario Sunshine's ho-hum appearance.
But then, the graphics arn't the only thing I'm worried about. In fact, the graphics I just proposed are nice, but not necessary. What I really want from the newest Zelda game is a great story line and gameplay that can't be rivaled. I want it to stay close to the designs of the previous games, but not be limited to, and introduce new features, like how Link must save his sister. Which makes us wonder, will it even be called Zelda? And if so, why? :blah:
Yeah, gameplay is very important. But, you don't need to worry about it. The game is very similar to the N64 titles. The inventory setup is even similar. Just take a look at the top right of the screen shots. Furthermore, I read before that elements of stealth have been thrown in. Miyamoto is always very reliable with his projects in terms of providing a gameplay experience like no other. I'm not really impressed with the whole saving his sister bit though. It's just like saving Zelda, but it's a different female. Why not something more original? (rhetorical question)
Originally posted by Deranged Gerbil ah but did James not say that those that were banned before V5 are able to come back on as a second chance kind of thing? correct me if I am mistaken
Yeah, but do you really think that if Hump or Thimoc came back they would be normal members. Hump would start flaming and Thimoc would be Thimoc. Anyway, 1) I don't think we'd lose a lot of members, but hmmm, lemme look in my crystal ball and see what would happen.... Okay, I'm back. If they left the boards, it would be "uncool," if you know what I mean. So, just fuhgetaboudit. But, what if I left the boards? *shoves Deranged Gerbil* Huh? What then? Huh? *Delivers the infamous swirly* That's what I thought. 2) The Yaoi forum wouldn't be the most popular forum, but it would have a cult-like following. 3) If Thimoc came back, he would do something to get banned. Hump would probably apologize for all of his past transgessions while flaming everyone with his beautiful, poet-like, language.

Yeah, I've known about the PC version for a while. I'm sure that differences will be kept to a minimal. My guess is that the PC version will have slightly sharper graphics. I would really hope that PS2 players could interact with PC players though. Unlike most first person shooting games, PC users wouldn't have a huge advantage in areas of control.

Well, regarding Devil May Cry 2, players will be able to play as an entirely new but yet-to-be-named heroine with short hair and armed with throwing knives, among other weapons. Whether her course through the game will be different from Dante's was not revealed. However, Capcom did state that the game will be set in a number of outdoor environments, such as a dark cityscape reminiscent of Batman's Gotham City, and a foreboding European town. As far as Dante is concerned, he will be older and his "devil trigger" system has also been enhanced in the sequel--he will now be able to transform into an even more powerful demon in certain conditions, and have access to a number of deadly, new skills in this form. Also, on the gameplay side of the coin, one particular new feature Capcom pointed out was that the game's difficulty level will transparently adjust itself according to the player's skill level, much like in last year's hit shooter, Max Payne.
Originally posted by *-- RagnaroK--* I dont think that dmc is the type of game for enemy character emotions, i see it as just go in, kick butt, get revenge, and there voila. character emotions really suit war games like halo and medal of honor, where as brains beat you weapons.
Yeah, but don't you feel that it would be satisfying to see your enemies use intelligent patterns? I mean, how cool would it be to storm into a room and see your enemies run for their lives? Intelligent attack patterns like retreating and surrounding would be nice additions as well. Games like Medal Of Honor exhibit a little of what I'm talking about. If you've ever played it, you'll remember that enemies duck, dodge, run and are plain satisfying to kill.

I can definitely see that the lighting effects have been put to good use. Hehe, I don't know if you did it on purpose or not, but the three screens really show how much the lighting varies in different environments. I've never seen a video of the game yet. If it moves smoothly, look out.
Originally posted by Final_Flash Wha!? I mean, stuff that works on a PSX (120 block Memory Cards, Action Replay...), hasn't worked on my PSone...
We're getting a little off topic now, but I mean that someone can say PSX and mean PSOne. There are differences, but the lil' guy is still a PSX....just altered. Anyway, some things that work on older PSX's (like certain GameShark's for instance) won't work on newer PSX's or the PSOne. So, are we still gonna talk about old Japanese PSX games or what people? :p
Originally posted by kool_aid13 2.) Like Voodo said, it's just a waste of time and you'll get hurt anyway
Yeah, that's all good in a joking way, but what fun is it to think like that? If people all lived like that, afraid of getting hurt, where would the fun be? Being scared sucks. Anyway, the heart has much stronger pull than something like fear. I promise that once someone gets that feeling, fear doesn't mean a damn. We have one life to live people, one life to give all that we've got. I don't feel that the clones were an attack on Latinos though. Think about it. If you made an army of clones, would you want to make them independent and smart? I don't think so.

Possible Spoilders No, Cloud is not Sephiroth's clone. If you made it far enough into the game, you would remember Tifa helping Cloud untangle his personal issues in the lifestream. Cloud was in fact a boy that grew up with her, so he has a past. He joined SOLDIER, but only had moderate success. After the Neibelheim(sp?) incident when Sephiroth severly injured Cloud, he was locked away in a tank with Zach where he was no doubt experimented on. It was in this state and the dramatic escape that followed, that Cloud's reality became a mess. He didn't know what to believe. Since his past was so hazy, it was easy for Sephiroth to mess with his head and convince him that he was a puppet.
Originally posted by Solid Snake The final way that I know of playing an imported game on your, ahem, foreign console, is to use a "PSX" Game Hunter Code Card. Now this, I'm not too sure about. I don't use it or have any friends who have experienced this. Here are the facts. It is a card that goes into the back of your Playstation to allow you to play imported games, and it costs around $30 at most retail stores. If it does what i think it does, then you can get it as a cheap solution to a mod chip, and you can leave it in all the time. But don't take my word for it, ask the person(s) you are purchasing it from. :blah:
I believe that there are some problems with this though. I've read that newer Playstation models don't have the slot for the card to fit into. Especially the Playstation One model.
Originally posted by Shyguy Mario Sunshine, the more I see of this game the less I care about it. I grew up with Mario, and he will always have a special place in my heart (next to the NES) but this game looks odd. I think these current games might be straying too far from the original Mario concept, but it will probably be good anyway.
I actually don't think the game strays too far from the original Mario concept at all, besides adding the water pack. In fact, the game doesn't stray away from the traditional formula far enough. Heck, even those chain link fences that Mario interacted with in Super Mario World are back. The problem is, it looks too similar to Mario 64. Sure, that game revolutionized 3D adventure/platforming, but so many games have duplicated the 3D Mario style, that it has become stale. I'm sick of running around and collecting crap and beating up the same monsters. Zelda and the other titles have evolved and now it's time for Mario to do so too. I've read this book before, multiple times and loved every minute of it. But, I don't feel like reading it again unless it brings something special to the table. I have similar feelings towards the Crash Bandicoot series, but only on a much greater level.
Other stuff: I don't care about the new Mario Kart. Kart games are a thing of th past, and Nintendo will need to insert some major extras to make this game worth buying. Mario Party 4 could be awesome if it comes with online play, but I am still not sure about Nintendo's online strategy.
Yep, Kart games have been waaaaaay overdone. Everyone and their dog as copied Mario Kart's formula. Unless Nintendo pumps up the mulitplayer and gives it a shot of internet compatibility, there won't be to make me buy the title. Sure, Nintendo could add balls-to-walls secrets, but only so much can keep me playing through the same old formula. "The Big N" might make things interesting, because lord knows they have a way of making their games special, but Mario Kart will definitely need a huge tune-up if it's gonna stand out among the plethora of Kart titles we've seen over the years. I'm hoping that the necessary changes and tweaks that these games need are apparent at E3.

I'm looking forward to hearing about three games in particular. The first is Perfect Dark Zero, because I love Rare's first person shooter series. Although the graphics have never been that great, the gameplay and multi-player are spot on. Hehe, no one has been able to top Rare's one Bond game and that was released when? 1996? Really, the just demonstrates how great the game plays. The second game I want to hear about is Metroid: Prime. I'm just really anxious to play this game and see how well it stays true to its predecessors. Lastly, I really want to see more of Mario Sunshine. Mainly because that game looks disappointing. Heck, if I took a picture of Mario 64, did some minor Photoshop work on it by adding a jet pack, you'd think it was Mario Sunshine. I hope that Nintendo (a) overhauled the graphics, or (b) made the water pack a lot more revolutionary to the series than I expected. :smooch:

Okay, well obivously I've decided to merge these threads. I feel that summaries of the past Tomb Raiders will help further an understanding of the latest sequel. Anyway, both threads deal with Angel of Darkness in some way. Hmm, What I'll basically do is post the beginning plots for each Tomb Raider. If anyone wants to take it further, please post the word "Spoiler" at the top of your post in bold. Tomb Raider Lara Croft, daughter of Lord Henshingly Croft, was raised to be an aristocrat from birth. After attending finishing school at the age of 21, Lara's marriage into wealth had seemed assured, but on her way home from a skiing trip her chartered plane had crashed deep in the heart of the Himalayas. The only survivor, Lara learned how to depend on her wits to stay alive in hostile conditions a world away from her sheltered upbringing. 2 weeks later when she walked into the village of Tokakeriby her experiences had had a profound effect on her. Unable to stand the claustrophobic suffocating atmosphere of upper class British society, she realized that she was only truly alive when she was traveling alone. Over the 8 following years she acquired an intimate knowledge of ancient civilizations across the globe. Her family soon disowned their prodigal daughter, and she turned to writing to fund her trips. Famed for discovering several ancient sites of profound archaeological interest she made a name for herself by publishing travel books and detailed journals of her exploits. Tomb Raider 2 Legend has it that when you drive the Dagger of Xian into your heart, you acquire the power of the dragon. Literally. In Ancient China, the Emperor was the holder of this power and with his army along side him, he was a force to be reckoned with. Thus empowered, he staked claim to the vast lands that are now China. His final battle however ended in defeat. While people fell into submission all around him, the warrior monks of Tibet would not relent and courageously fought against his evil. Knowing the poser of the dagger, they succeeded in removing it from the Dragon Emperor's heart, reducing him and his army to carnage. The dagger was returned to its resting place within The Great Wall and safely locked up for all time... Now three parties hold the dagger close to their heart, and all for entirelydifferent reasons. Lara Croft, forever the adventurer, is one of these. During her adventure, she will encounter the other two... Tomb Raider 3 The call for adventure and the mystical treasures has lured Lara to India, where the Infada Stone, a unique, out of this world existence awaits. Upon obtaining the sacred stone, new info began to stream in, hinting the existence of other similar objects of extraterrestrial origin were once found in the icy continent of Antarctica. It was believed that certain objects of this nature had been brought to this world by the crash of a meteorite centuries ago. First discovered by the British sailors of the 19th century, these objects were to be carried back to their homeland. However, a ghastly supernatural phenomenon occured, caused the artefacts to drift apart towards the various corners of the world. Tomb Raider: The Last Revalation The main story begins at the Temple of Set. Lara raids this tomb to obtain an amulet, only to find that, in doing so, she unwittingly unleashes the evil god into the world. Now she'll have to re-bind him into his tomb in order to save humanity. While there are a variety of locations?indoors and outdoors, city streets, desert canyons and abandoned ruins?all the action takes place in Egypt Tomb Raider Chronicles. The story begins just a few days after the ending of The Last Revelation. Lara's body has never been found, but people assume she's dead. After the burial ceremony of Lara, three characters: Jean Yves, Winston and priest Dunstan in their own way think back about Lara. The game consists of four new adventures and bring Lara back in time to Rome, a small Irish island, a hightech building and a Russian sub. Each adventure requires its specific game characteristics. In Ireland Lara has to find her way without any weapons, whereas the Russian sub can be compared to an episode of the X-files. Rome is said to be the classical Tomb Raider action, and in the high tech building the keyword is stealth. As for Angel of Darkness, well I believe it has potential. The main problem with past Tomb Raider games was the frustrating gameplay and stale concept. Finally, it seems like we'll see something totally new with Angel of Darkness. After all, the series really needs to reinvent itself. I've even heard that the game will implement Zelda and Mario-like gameplay to some extent. A lot of games emulate Zelda's targeting system, and it definitely wouldn't hurt the Tomb Raider series to do the same. Over the years there's been talk of adding another playable character to the series and it looks like that will finally happen. In Angel of Darkness, there is going to be a second playable character named Curtis Trent. Supposedly, you can switch between the two (think Oddworld for the Xbox). As, I've said before, this guy's even going to have his own spin-off series too.. It seems like we're seeing a bunch of gameplay styles melting together to form one unique experience with Angel of Darkness, but other series have tried similar techniques and failed. I'm anxious to see if Lara's game will succeed. Trying to emulate something like Metal Gear Solid, Zelda or Mario is no easy task. Anyway, this Tomb Raider game is the first of five in the new story. I hope they don't grow progressively stale like the PSX series did.

Ugh, I hated "The Others." It was merely an attempt to rip off of "The Sixth Sense." The pacing of the movie was pretty lousy and just didn't hold my interest. I was actually expecting to see what the ending ultimately delivered.

I find people the most annoying when they talk in rhyme. They think they're a rap star all the time. I think rhyming should be a crime. It's not cool, not one little bit. Rhyming is about as fun as popping a zit. That's not all. People are annoying if they're too short or too tall. Why can't they be like us all? Why do they have to be too large or too small? I wish I could stop but there are more. Have you ever talked to someone so boring they made you snore? Conversation should be fun, conversation should not be a chore! Stop talking on your cell phones will you please? You annoying chatty Kathies buzz more than bees! Yack, yack, blah, blah, blah. Wait until you're done eating to check up on spouse, sister, ma or pa! People like me! People like me are annoying to a tee! People who always like to disagree! The most annoying people are those that swear. They have no manners, they don't care. Stop f*&$$*#% swearing, it's not fair! Cussing makes me want to pull out my $T^@(@# hair! In short, everyone annoys me. People whose names start with a vowel. People whose names end with a "V". Why can't you all be just like me?!!
Originally posted by James I can see that the experience points would perhaps be more level...but they would also remove some variety from the gameplay. The whole point of the orb system is to encourage the player to choose their own upgrades so that ultimately, the character is a product of user-intervention. If anything, I'd like to see a more detailed orb system...whereby you can purchase a wider range of physical upgrades. So that in the end, your character is really your own creation...
Hmmm, I see what you mean. I guess my main complaint with the orb system isn't the system itself, but the fact that there weren't more weapons available to be purchased. Seeing as how the game's focused about 90% on fighting, I believe that more weapons like sickles, axes, or even a mace would give the game's variety a shot in the arm. The only problem is, that there might be too much to purchase if more weaponry was provided. Maybe there could be seperate spheres for abilities and weapons? *shrugs* Anyway, I doubt Capcom would alter the sphere system much, besides making it more detailed like you mentioned. Usually sequels don't deviate from the original forumla too much. Often times, the first update to a game is simply expands what made the original successful. So drastic changes for this one aren't really realistic.
