Buu dies?
Originally posted by Legend_Brolly Ive been dying to know how the evil buu dies cos in england we are only in the middle of the buu saga and its only the fatt buu:) and who defeats it and what fusions were made in the buu saga.
The question of who defeats Buu was answered here. Fusions during the Buu saga include Gotenks (Goten and Trunks) and Vegetto (Gokou and Vegeta).
  2.
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig It's an interesting concept...but...I don't think I'd buy it because of the $69 price tag...and just the idea of flying around and looking for blood doesn't appeal to me. Worth a rental, at least....
You saw the American version of the game for $69? I can understand maybe the import costing that much, but not a domestic version. At Babages or EB, it only costs like $39.99.
  3. Hmmm, methinks this is supposed to be a thread solely dedicated to bashing the Xbox. Ugh, I don't know why people can't just not like a system and be fine with their own opinions. If anyone needs mental help over a videogame console because it disappoints them, they better go see a real psychiatrist.
  4.
Originally posted by Adam Rumor has it that James Burns is somewhere hidden in the game as an enemy zombie. And you thought the game was scary BEFORE. ::shudder::
Yeah, tell me about it. The only way to unlock him is to wait in the main hallway at exactly 3 hours and fifteen minutes into the game. I was playing as Jill and I heard Wesker getting yelled at by an unseen individual. As I was about to enter, the door broke down and Wesker stumbled out rambling about someone "more evil than himself." I got killed the first three times I fought this guy, but finally managed to take him down with a healthy poke in the forehead using my index finger. As for the rest of the game, it's pretty cool too. I knew 70% was changed, but I didn't know that that 70% would be of such high quality. The voice acting is better, but I really miss the old lines. Ah well, I'm loving every minute of it. This remake is almost like playing an entirely new game. Almost none of the puzzles went untouched. Also the zombie aren't pushovers anymore (besides the aforementioned JB zombie). I love the new method of disposing them. The only thing that still bothers me is the limited amount of items that can be carried. Backtracking is a major pain.
  5. I haven't gotten around to trying it yet, but it looks interesting. I was really surprised that Sony brought it over to the United States, considering it's a strong parody of Japanese subcultures. Mainly, the things keeping me away from the game include a probable lack of replay value and poor collision detection. I'm sure that Mister Mosquito would be one of those games that I would hate, have a blast with, hate some more, play some more and then never play again. Hehe, the best thing about a game like Mister Mosquito, is that there are sure to be a lot of easy-to-find used copies lurking about for extremely low prices. :toothy:
  6. Please don't post blatant favorite threads like this. Favorite threads are against the rules in all of the otakuboards' forums. The games that you mentioned in your poll, however, all have existing threads in the Sony forum. Dynasty Warriors and Metal Gear Solid Discussions are recent. If you want to discuss Grand Theft Auto 3, find a thread on it and post there. But, if you're going to bring it back, read all of the posts in that thread and say something meaningful and proper for the discussion. *Bangs down gavel* This topic is now Closed.
  7. Yeah, Gokou uses a Genki Dama with the power of everyone on earth to destroy him. Mr. Satan assists Gokou by getting everyone to raise their arms into the air. Also, Vegetto didn't get eaten by Buu. Rather, he was purposely absorbed.
  8. The use of computer generated cinematics isn't really hard to notice. Actually, most companies use CG instead of hand drawn anime cinematics now. I would love to give some great explanation, but all I can really say is that it's all a matter of preference. Most likely, Square feels that CG cinematics are more visually impressive and will help sell the games. Have you ever seen a Final Fantasy commercial? Ninety percent of what you'll see, is the computer generated cinematics. Also, CG fits in with the actual in-game graphics of the more recent Final Fantasies. With the exception of FF7, the art styles of recent Final Fantasies haven't really been strongly anime oriented. Overall, they all try to take on a realistic approach. Even FF9 had realistic looking, prerendered backgrounds. Anime cinematics would probably clash with the overall artistic direction.
  9.
Originally posted by Solid Snake It was mostly the stealth, where you must remain unnoticed, and had to use strategy to find a way past your enemies, sometimes using the M9, and others not. The controls, I thought, were also very cleaverly done. With them, the game could mix in this third-person perspective with a little first-person to take out the enemies. You could even carry quite a few things at a time, and take them out quickly with the R2 and L2 bottons, other than some games where you have to go through your whole stock with one botton, and if you miss something, your in trouble (i.e. James Bond 007 The World is Not Enough).
lol, Are we still talking about Metal Gear Solid 2? Everything you mentioned about gameplay has been done in the first. Metal Gear Solid 2, to its credit, did add a few new abilities to the mix, but nothing that really impressed me. Saying that the two Metal Gear Solid games play similar to one another is a big understatement. Especially since Metal Gear Solid 2 merely build upon the formula of its predecessor. :toothy:
The story wasn't all that bad either, which a lot of people seek to criticize. It took probably the most realistic story path, however. In other words, they most likely did not come up with the whole thing from the start; maybe the skeleton of it, but not everything. A more probable outcome would have been for them to make it up as they went along, each step branching to what they think would really happen in that situation. If this plot still sickens you, then I'm sorry, but I was quite intrigued of how in depth, lengthy, and off-the-wall it was, just what I personally like to see in a plot. I would hardly call it "constipated," heh.
Hmmm, you kind of contradict yourself here. Early on in this paragraph you refer to the storyline as taking the most "realistic path," but later say that it's "off the wall." I would definitely say that your latter assessment is the more accurate. Like I previously mentioned, Metal Gear Solid 2 is far too Melodramatic. Also, we'll be venturing into SPOILERS now. Do you really think that it was necessary to mention that Otacon had an affair with his step mother? What overall importance does it have? He could have easily had a rocky relationship with Emma. It seems like the story came on a little thick. Also, does it make sense to put Raiden's nagging girlfriend in contact with him in the serious situation that he is in? There is no way that an organization would place their man in a mission like that, only to have him come to terms with his personal life. The sappy piano music was the icing on the cake. Unlike the first Metal Gear, the second was way too melodramatic. Lastly, the storyline took too many twists and in a very short time. By doing so, not only was it unrealistic, but very ineffective. The Colonel's ramblings took me out of the experience. They literally admitted that it was a game. That totally took away the sense of belief. Plus, they showed the "Game Over or Continue" screen, while Snake and Raiden were fighting, which furthered the pain. The first Metal Gear Solid was easy to follow and satisfiable. The second left many people confused. Trust me, visit some Metal Gear Solid 2 forums and you'll see people asking whether or not Rose is even real or not. I can understand trying to surprise the player, but MGS 2 was taken in the wrong direction. Anyway, you suggested that someone buy the second Metal Gear before the first. No way Jose'. MGS2 makes numerous references to MGS1 that are vital in understanding the plot. Unless you've played through the original, there is no way that you can play through the sequel and enjoy the experience on the same level. Imagine not knowing the intimacy of Snake and Hal's relationship, or his lost relationship with Meryl and Naiomi.
As for the bosses, ok, they could have been better. But if there were more, and much harder, it probably wouldn't have been worked in about a very realistic way. Yes, I know that I usually don't like games to be realistic, but with a plot as wild as this, it's good to have some mixes that even it out. Personally, I found the bosses fun; maybe not as hard as the prequal, but fun nonetheless.
I wasn't talking about the difficulty. I was disappointed with the bosses because, with the exception of Fortune, it was hard to identify witht them. I saw all of the bosses of the first MGS as people that chose the wrong path. The bosses of MGS2 are flat characters. They show nothing except for their obvious evil side.
In conclusion, I feel that MGS2 was better than MGS. I can't say what it really was, and no, it was not the graphics, but something just didn't keep me in tune to MGS, that did with MGS2. I am not denying that it was a great game, but I do prefer the sequal.
Once again you have to consider if someone hasn't played through the first already. Playing through it is vital to getting the most out of the sequel. ;)
  10.
Originally posted by BlueGender If you were to ask me I would tell you not to get it for PS2 just because of the fact that the controls are hard and the graphics are not as good as the X-Box and PC. I would suggest that if your PC is fast enough to handle the requirements you to get the PC version. If it is not I ould suggest you not get Max Payne and get another game maybe Grand Theft Auto 3.
I agree with you BlueGender. If your system is powerful enough, I would definitely get the PC version of Max Payne instead, Ryanmc225. Anyone familiar with Max Payne knows that the Bullet Time mode is an important feature of the game. As a matter of fact, it is the one feature that sets Max Payne apart from the legions of other shooters. The Playstation 2 version loses a lot of the effect that accompanies bullet time though. Unfortunately, bullets whizzing through the air a la The Matrix aren't nearly as visible. Furthermore, the PS2 version suffers from a lot more loading then the PC version and lacks a "save anywhere" feature. When playing Max Payne on a harder difficulty you've got to be prepared to lose a life every now and then. Without the ability to save mid-level, my enjoyment of the game would lose out to aggrevation. Lastly, sections of the levels have even been removed. If you've never played the PC version you won't miss them. But, for those of us who have, it is extremely noticable and disappointing. I mean, if you're going to sub divide a level, you may as well include the whole thing. If the PS2 is your only choice, then I still recommend the game. The graphic novel stills that further the game are unique and the voice overs totally scream "Cheap Detective Movie." If you like constant, mindless, no frills shooting, then be prepared to use your trigger finger....often. Puzzles in this game are basically nonexistent. You'll be in videogame heaven. The only downfall is that the game is only single player. After you're done going through it once, there won't be much of a reason to go through again. It's a blast while it lasts, but only while it lasts.....
  11.
Originally posted by Solid Snake Considering no one has posted in a month, I'm sure he's already made his decision. I'm not trying to criticize you or act like a moderator, but back in version 2 I was looked down upon for bringing back posts just as you are doing now, and I don't want your experience at Otaku to be bad.
Heh, I noticed that too and thought the very same thing. Obviously, people need to read dates and the thread starter's post before posting themselves. The only reason I didn't delete the post, was because there was a comment referring to the game's lasting appeal. If that werent there, the post would have been gone. I decided against closing the thread because I figured that it might prove useful to keep around so people can discuss the game if they so desire. lol. I guess it was a good move, because I want to address what you said. I really don't think that Metal Gear Solid 2 is any better than its predecessor. While Metal Gear Solid 2 offered a very nice looking visual package, it wasn't really as revolutionary as I had originally hoped. Compared to the first Metal Gear Solid, the storyline was really constipated, boss battles weren't nearly as original and overall the drama became melodrama.

And does he make him for revenge since Goku destroys Super 17? ***END SPOILER***
Yes, this is the same Dr. Muu that created Bebi. Bebi came before Super 17, however, so no, he did not create Bebi to get revenge on Gokou for killing Super 17.

    Ica Age!

Hehe, I'm kind of embarrassed because I'm so old and still went to see it. I just thought that the previews were so funny though. I personally wouldn't go and see it again in theatres. I would wait until the DVD release when there's bonus footage available. As mentioned before, the plot was far from original. Movies ranging from "The Land Before Time" to "Hlomeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" feature an unlikely group thrust together and forced to cooperate in order to achieve their own personal and necessary goals of survival. What saved the movie for me, was that the characters were just charming enough to save the movie from its predictability. Movies like Ice Age tend to promote the same message, so without lovable characters to entertain me for an hour and a half, a movie like this would really fail. After already enjoying all the laughs and charming character traits once, I couldn't find myself going back again without the aforementioned extra goodies to entice me. :p

    Jason X

Jason X iis definitely the worst film in the series. It's sickening how light this kind of movie takes itself. For instance, without spoiling anything much (seeing as I'm not mentioning who was involved in the following scenerios) someone gets impaled on a screw. Well, someone says, "He's been screwed." Also, when a hole in the spaceship is formed and someone is hanging on for dear life, they exclaim, "This sucks on sooooo many levels!" This movie never decides on what it wants to be. The Scream movies and Scary movie kind of spoiled this genre of films by outlining every, single rule, so I have to give the makers credit for trying. That being said, the gore is really toned down from past Jason movies as well. Don't get me wrong, you'll still know that people are dying horrible deaths, but it's nowhere near on the same level as past films. All in all, I only recommend this to diehard Jason fans that just have to see every installment in the series. I personally thought that Mothman Prophecies was a lot scarier without relying on cheap kills....
  16. Hmmm, I don't know about this topic. It really has the potential to turn into crap with one or two word responses and abandon good discussion. However, I will allow it to remain open for the time being. But, from this point on, if you answer with a boss, you have to elaborate a little. This should prevent "free posts." Keep in mind, I will be watching closely and like usual, will delete any lackluster posts. ;) Regarding the question at hand, I'm going to go way back and say that the Kingpin from the Sega Genesis version of Spiderman was one tough sucker. I don't know if it was because I was a lot younger then or what, but I died fighting him more often than I won. Not only was Kingpin extremely strong, but he was nearly as fast as Spiderman, himself. Taking him down was especially a pain since MJ was lowering into acid or something in the background. If the time limit wasn't there, he wouldn't have been quite as difficult.
  17. I'm pretty sure that Nintendo owns the rights to Donkey Kong. I don't think it's possible that we'll ever see it on PS2.
  18.
Originally posted by Nerdsy I've been bored with wrestling for the longest time. I have seen a full show (excluding pay-per-views) in over a year. I blame WCW closing. As bad as it was, it was something different. Anyway, the just of it is that the WWF isn't going downhill. In fact, it's the same as it's been. It just seems that way since there is no more WCW to compare it to. Now, this may have been all well and true when this article was written (December or January), but a few months have passed. It's gone WAY downhill since then. Hogan winning the title? Triple H having it for one month? Now that's a bad decision. I'm not even going to start on the split... Taz, Mike Awesome, Jerry Lyn, Spike Dudly, and most of the other ECW workers have been misused. RVD is doing good, even though he isn't the hardcore guy he used to be. Foley is gone. Yeah, I know he's been gone for a while, but I still grieve for it. I do, however, think Undertaker should join him. He is way past his prime.
Yeah, WCW closing along with ECW was definitely bad for the industry. At first I looked on with a thread of optimism, hoping that WWF would get it a timeslot on TNN and revamp it. Alas, they give us Excess and completely phase out WCW in favor of a roster split. Anyway, the fact that WWF is staying the same, does, indeed, mean it's going downhill. Basically, when competition was around (even if it was horrid) WWF constantly tried new things to keep people interested. Now, that they're the only big dogs in the buisness, we see the same people winning the same titles over and over again. I mean, why even have a Royal Rumble with 30 men? Just stick in Austin, Rock, HHH, Angle, Jericho, Undertaker and call it the new battle royal. We all know they're gonna win every year. I agree that a lot of talent is misused. WWF actually released Jerry Lynn. What a horrible move. He has every right to receive a push as anyone else in the business. Besides a couple lightweight matches, we saw nothing of him. RVD is constantly jobbing too. His intercontinental title reign should have lasted the better part of the year at least. The intercontinental title could use the credibility. As for Hogan winning the title, he only did so because the WWF can't really tell how long Hulkamania will last. They wanted to put the strap around him while he's marketable. If the nostalgia starts wearing off, he'll drop the belt. As a matter of fact, he basically forshadowed a short title reign in one of his promos. Backlash was really like WCW though. Every face lost except for Hogan so that he would be over more when he beat HHH. I mean, I'm a Hogan mark, but the booking team shouldn't sacrifice every face for one match.
  19.
Originally posted by Goku213 I've just thought............i've only ever seen Goku as a child ONCE in GT, and that was the clip mentioned all the other times (other clips), i've seen him "old" like in your avetar
That's only because he appears adult-like in the SSJ4 form. In all of his other forms, he is a child. ;)
  20.
Originally posted by Zachary tekken 4 looks really cool. Ive heard some really cool stuff about it.
Well, do tell. We've all shared so don't be shy. It's cool to actually add something worthwhile to a topic intead of chiming in with vagueness for the sake of post count. Hint, hint. ;)
  21.
Originally posted by Zachary is xenosaga a sequel to it?
No, it's not a sequel. Xenosaga: Episode I Der Wille Zur Macht is a loose prequel which is the first of six parts. Although the game is no longer a Square product and will be published by Namco, it is still being headed by Tetsuya Takhashi--the director of Xenogears. Also, it features other key members of the old team. It'll probably be out some time this fall. :toothy:
  22. Hmm, well I don't really see this topic going anywhere special. Basically, systems going down in price is nothing new. It's after the holiday season, things are slow, the system has been out for a while--it's easy to put two and two together. I'm unimpressed with the topic itself and the feedback here. There really isn't anything worthwhile to discuss regarding this announcement.
  23.
Originally posted by sandramaxwell06 WAIT!!! as i understood it from some site there. it was like this... Artificial 17 was created by the two doctors. art.17 escaped from hell (hifl) and went to earth. there he met up with ANDROID 17 and fused with him. thus the birth of super 17. thats what i heard. tell me if im wrong on this.
Goku213, yes Gokou fights him as a child. Gokou is a "child" for about 99% of DragonBallGT. Pilaf wishes him to be small and the rest is history. As said earlier, Sandramaxwell, Super17 was created by Dr. Muu and Dr. Gero. Gero reveals that 17 was supposed to be more powerful than Cell to begin with, but due to his rebelliousness, this power was never allowed to be realized. Both collaborate to create a new 17, that looks identical to the original 17. From hell, they control the original 17's mind (who is still on earth). Eventually, I think they have the two 17s create a hole that allows hells prisoners to escape to earth. Muu and Gero trick Gokou into going to hell to fight Freiza and Cell. When Gokou arrives they leave him stranded and they take the other 17 to earth. From there, they have the two androids fuse into Super 17. I hope that completely clears up Super 17. :toothy:
  24.
Originally posted by sandramaxwell06 then when does this happen
It happens during episodes 42 through 47 of DragonBall GT, preceeding the Evil Shenron saga. I guess it makes you realize just how short the sagas in GT are compared to DBZ.

    Im so happy

Eh, I like Final Fantasy IX. It is nowhere near as good as Final Fantasy VII, VIII, or X, but it's better than a lot of the rpgs out there. I was really disappointed with how short it was too, but at least it put out a few cool characters. When people talk about Final Fantasy games in the future though, I am sure that FF9 will be known as the forgettable one. They really should remake it for PS2 and add a whole lot to it.
