You know, the Ultima Weapon looks a heck of a lot like something from He-Man or Thundercats. :drunk: :whoops:

Most people probably like the GameCube because of the company behind it. Obviously, Nintendo has created many of the most wildly successful gaming franchises. Exclusive games of high quality are very important in determining a console's success. There are a lot of gamers out there who wouldn't part with the Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Perfect Dark and Pokemon franchises. Then, there are the smaller franchises such as 1080 Snow Boarding, WaveRace, Smash Brothers (reallysuccessful, but fairly new), and many others. So, basically, GameCube is a good system because it's guaranteed to have hit games. Also, it's fairly small and simple. Yep, it's the simplicity and killer exclusives that even made me, shell out the cash for one.
Originally posted by Sephiroth I don't like how this is going, the xbox needs to come out with some good games and fast, they can't just rely on halo, DOA3, project gotham racer, and JSR future to keep the console going....
Rallisport Challenge is really awesome. However, I doubt it has the name value to back up any real sales. As ashamed as I am to admit this, I kinda want to play that Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, game. It looks awesome. Well, I suppose Blood Omen 2 might get a few sales too, but I doubt anyone would buy the system for it. First of all, it's not that good, and secondly, it's out for PS2 also. As for actual system sellers, let's keep our fingers crossed for the Panzer Dragoon game. I'm really looking forward to it, but Sega hasn't impressed me with its Xbox games thus far.
Originally posted by Zachary So there not selling well?
Um, read the posts in this thread again. ;) Well, I'm not surprised that it's not doing well. Like I said before, the Atari Jaguar and 3DO did pretty miserably over there as well. Then again, they weren't so hot in the U.S. either. Basically, the whole reason for the poor sales is because of the Japanese concern over the focus of American consoles. American companies usually focus on creating monster consoles and neglect to focus on the gaming aspect. I think James even said something along those lines, not too long ago.
Originally posted by BulmaVegeta1 I don't understand why some of you out there don't like FFX as much as FF7! I mean, FFX is the best! Why is FF7 so much better to you guys? ?(I might open a topic on this)
Well, it's all a matter of opinion. FFVII was really a ground breaking game. It had a great cast of characters, cool plot, and the ultimate bad guy of them all.....Don Corneo! Oh yeah, Honey Bee Inn rules! Anyway, I'm sure that a lot of people haven't gotten around to playing FFX yet. Mostly everyone on this board has went through the paces with FFVII. On another note, I read that some of you did not like the ending. Sorry, but I loved it. That ending was beautiful. The symbolism and direction of it was just so...artistic.

Yes, Mirai no Trunks met himself when he traveled back in time. If you remember back to the Cell saga, he saved Bulma and baby Trunks, from their plane when Dr. Gero took it down. Also, I remember baby Trunks tugging on Mirai no Trunks's hair. As for Gohan, well, he was really rusty. Even transforming to SSJ2, his power wasn't a significant increase. Now, this is just my take on it, but I don't think power really mattered a lot in that fight. Overall, it's because Gohan was rough around the edges, like I said earlier, and he doesn't really like hurting other beings. I remember in the Japanese version, Vegeta scolded him and gave him a lecture on being weak. He said that Piccolo and Krillin were weak, and they paid for it. Gohan basically acknowledges that he didn't try his hardest, as he thinks to himself that Vegeta is correct, and if he had fought harder, his friends would have been turned back to normal. So, there you have it, Gohan just wasn't angry enough to fight Dabura with all he had. ;)
Originally posted by ShadowGohan Not as much as the PAL UK version I'm gonna have soon :).
For some reason, I don't think that "UK" and "soon" belong in the same sentence. :p :whoops: And, Seph, have you tried the game in progressive scan mode yet? It must be pretty neat.
Originally posted by James SK is also working on Eternal Darkness for GameCube...which they've been working on for about four years now...it's looking incredible so far.
Yeah, I was looking forward to getting that on N64, before it was canceled. I'm really surprised at the progress it's made graphically. However, I'm most anxious to see how well they'll pull off the multi character storyline. They've been working on that game forever, so something about it has to be pretty special.

Well, it can be used to pick plays in sports games, kind of like how the VMU worked for the DreamCast. Also, I'm sure it can be used to raise those little Chao critters in Sonic Adventure 2.
Originally posted by ZeoMiraiTrunks at least give the designers credit for making the soul reaver battle system WAY cooler in BO 2. and dude, u just cant skip the blood sucking from 5 feet away! Thats classic! lol it sounds like kains suckin from a super-sized blood-soda at mcdonalds
Yeah, the battle system is definitely cool. Blood sucking is also a lot more entertaining than soul sucking. Still though, it would have been cool if there was more game in there. As a direct sequel to the first, the quest should have been more, I dunno, epic. I do see your point though. The game does have some really neat little aspects here and there. The storyline in the Kain series is always top notch.

I would have preferred if they kept the game more in the same vein as its predecessor. I mean, if you're going to split the series, at least make them different kinds of games. Instead of making what is essentially another Soul Reaver, they should have made Blood Omen 2 a pure rpg Fifteen hours worth of gameplay pale in comparison to the orignal's massive quest. Plus, the puzzles are tedious, like in the original Soul Reaver. It's still an okay game, just taken in the wrong direction.
Originally posted by Sephiroth Heaven's Cloud-yeah, I was kind of surprised when I first played jin and found out his moves had been completely changed, I've been practicing with him quite a bit, getting better ad even learnt a ten hit combo, I'll be practicing with king tonight to learn his new multi part throws since I already know al the one's from the previous tekken games....
I just want to remind you to keep on practicing. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: As soon as a Tekken with online play comes out, I'm going to beat the crap out of you and take the title of "Best Tekken Player Ever." :p As far as the endings go, it's all good. I'm satisfied with longer endings, than short, flashy computer generated ones. Anyhow, the PS2 pumps out near CG quality anyway. If you look at Tekken Tag's in game graphics compared to Tekken 1's into/endings, you'll see who the clear winner is.
Originally posted by DBZChikaGhan O_o;; Well I was off.. I saw it as someone writing after being heartbroken and left. Or possibly someone being heartbroken after seeing their true love with another woman.. I interpreted this "someone" as a man.. by the way.. You know CWB, you and Raiha should really look into being author's. As soon as your published I want to know!
Hey no sweat. People can see it how they want to. However, it comes across best to you, is always right. ;) Thanks to you and Pastbyer for the compliments on my writing, by the way. You know, I am considering taking a class in Journalism for the fall semester. So, you never know. But if I do have any of my work published, I will be sure to let you know! Anyway, for now, I'll put up a little something that I wrote today. There's not much in terms of interpretation, but it's pretty cool nonetheless. If anyone actually reads this, lemme know what you think. :toothy: Vampires, vampires, nocturnal phantoms taking flight, Romantic shadows casted hauntingly upon a sleepless night, Satin ripples like storm drain puddles and flows through twisting air Pale rays of moonlight, highlight silver strands of hair Transluscent skin, soft to the touch, yet sculpted in stone, Copulate with darkness, birthing new sins to atone, Misty winds beat down and twirl with reckless abandonment, Hushed whispers, pleading for repent, mark breath well spent. Vampires, Vampires, gleeful children of spite A star struck aristocracy partaking in devilish delight, Slow dance on roof tops and window panes, Until the last bit of night has been slain. Do you not hear their satanic cry? Then, let us go to the creatures' ball, just you and I. Stoic silhouettes, powerful creatures, manifestations, with human features. Vampires, Vampires, blood red lips give the gentlest kiss, taking life with obscure bliss, two shadows melt into one, holding each other tight until the unholy deed is done, existing only to strip lives away, Satan's orphens fade unto the night, making room for a new day, Like a stained piece of rigid cloth, dead moth wings, or a paper kite their design of darkness flutters away at the first crack of daylight, Vampires, Vampires, I bid you adieu, Now, I must ponder, "Am I any more human than you?" -
Although it's only a rumor now, I would have to say that it's definite that we'll see a sequel for Final Fantasy X someday. I, in an unpopular decison no doubt, think that the game would be served better with a sequel than Final Fantasy VII would. Basically, we already saw that the world of Final Fantasy VII remains intact 500 years into the future. So, whether the characters indeed died or not in the ending, they would surely not be in a sequel. Final Fantasy X left more of an unresolved ending instead of fading off into obscurity like FF7 did.

Flash and jcgoudy basically covered it. Steiner is strong, loyal to a fault and provided comic relief to the game. It's nice to see his character deveop over time as well, as he learns to think for himself.

Well, I don't think that the game's linear quest hinders the quality of the game that much. Meaning, that while it may detract from the game somwhat, it isn't enough so, that it hurts the quality substanitally. If you think about it, most Final Fantasy games are quite linear. The only difference in this game is that there are more cut scenes and no real time world map. Basically, the player is not given freedom until later on in the game. However, once you are given freedom, there are loads of things to do. There are hidden aeons, locations, weapons, monsters, and even a couple side quests to contend with. So, yeah, get it and enjoy the awesome story, wonderful music (best soundtrack in a FF in quite some time) and brilliant graphics. You won't be disappointed with the overall product.
Originally posted by SSJ Gotenks ok Whats the graphics like??? Is it like megaman legends????:therock:
The graphics are side scrolling, two dimensional thumb blisters, like the majority of Mega Man games. Think back to the days of Super Nintendo or its predecessors on the PSX, itself. All in all, I feel that the colors were a little drab though. :p So, no, don't expect anything like MegaMan Legends.

When you get into a Taxi, Police Car, Fire Truck, etc. you have the option to do exclusive missions for that vehicle. In the taxi, you can pick up people and drop them off in a set time limit for fares (like Crazy Taxi). Of course, the other vehicles allow you to do things that pertain to their theme (extinguishing fires in the city in the fire trucks). Pressing R3, or pressing in on the right analog stick, allows you to start these missions. If you don't press R3, you will continue on with the normal game, driving the vehicles like you would any other vehicle. Anyway, I'm sure that the instruction manual explains this.
Originally posted by Sephiroth you mean you can counter? good god, I've only been blocking, haven't even seen any counters in the game, I've become good with one of the elevel player's though, pai, she reminds me of tekken's xiaoyu, heh, its still a decent game, I just need to get into it a bit more, but with tekken 4 here, lol.... and I highly recommend buying tekken 4 upon release in the UK or US, which'll be a while, heh heh, as darth vader once said.... "the force....she is with....tekken 4! .......on release only on playstation 2, a good console, a console which makes you proud to be wearing a helmet" see, if the dark lord, darth vader himself thinks the game rocks, then :p to you. heh heh....
Oh yeah, no doubt that Tekken rules. I prefer it to the Virtua Fighter Series too, so :p right back at ya. lol. I wish I could give a really good reason. But, to be honest I don't have one, except that I just find Tekken to be more fun. Well, I like the characters/story better also, but that's it. Anyway, yeah, there are counters. I was, yeah, you guessed it, button mashing so that I could work my way up to 1st Dan and unlock Jacky's VF1 Character Model, and Sarah introduced me to counters the hard way. :( In the end, most fighting game purists would probably laugh at you and I for preferring Tekken, but the heck with them, if Darth Vader's behind Tekken, everything's cool. :smirk:
-
Seph you lucky dog, hehe. I won't be playing a home version of Tekken 4 until August or September. Trust me though, Virtua Fighter 4 isn't necessarily a button masher's game. If someone plays against the computer, they can learn their techniques, copy them, and use them against the player. That's why it's important to learn a few of the characters' more in depth techniques. If a button masher fights a really skilled player, their moves will be countered and they'll be beaten into the ground. :toothy:

Anime Doesnt it Suck that Gohan becomes so weak?
Originally posted by jlow You are all right Gohan was so much better when he was younger and now he seems to be very weak and look how he was training with Goten and Goten was giving him a challenge and also Vegeta made a comment that Gohan was weaker than him because had went to school and quit training. Whats that tell ya?
Well, it's not like he was trying his hardest in sparring with Goten. He was definitely going easy on him. -
Some of the Tom Green special was pretty funny. I liked how he trapped the monkey in his van. It was so senseless that I just got a kick out of it. The only other things that I remember that made me laugh were when he dressed like Elvis and Godzilla, and when he got into the "Go Fork youself" costume. Other than that, the fast food section got a small laugh out of me. Most of the time he just ran around acting like an obnoxious idiot, because, well, he's an obnoxious idiot, hehe. After the special, I caught Jackass, which I thought was a whole heck of a lot better. Hopefully, they'll give Tom Green his real show back too. For some reason, I found the actual series to be a lot funnier than the special.
But I did see a few clips from his thingy in Japan. It looks funny, but it's just giving the Japanese more reason to dislike some Americans.
lol, The Japanese can't pin him on us. Tom Green is Canadian. :p
