However, you can be sure that I'll post something up the next time I'm in a creative mood. I just hope that I do get that cat idea next time. ;) -
Originally posted by James Furthermore, most of the improvements in SC2 were pretty trivial things (they were minor visual and peripheral changes...I mean, who really cares about new costumes?).
I guess you're right. The only major changes I can remember is Namco ditching the weapons meter and changing the shape of the rings. In all, they made the pacing more hectic, which served the game well. Hehe, as for the new costumes, well I personally don't care for them, but I guess some people do. Tecmo's even coming out with an add-on disc for DOA3, mainly for the purpose of adding costumes. Personally, I never cared about dressing up digital dolls.
Im gonna get it, wait a second, maybe it was just Soul Calibur coming out for XBOX, I dont remember
Actually Soul Calibur 2 is coming out for GameCube, Xbox and PS2. I couldn't put it in all three forums though. I doubt that the Xbox version will get extra characters and stuff. The improvements will be trivial if there even are any.

The Dreamcast version of Soul Calibur blew me away. I loved the arcade version. I remember stopping by the arcade with my buddies just to stomp them in a few bouts of Namco's (then) newest fighter. Although some said that it lacked the depth of the aforementioned titles, it provided a pretty nice alternative. Quite frankly, I was disappointed that the Dreamcast port lacked internet support, because a lot of the game's fun was a result of competing against complete strangers only to make myself look like a fighting game guru or a complete fool. However, the home version did include rebuilt character models, complete with an integrated torso and hip skeletal system that increased the realism in the game's animation. Namco even took the models one step further and gave them an articulating jaw, so that they would be able to display facial animations. On top of that, the upgrade in stages from two dimensional (well, 2.5) to three dimensional only added the icing onto the intense gameplay. And don't even get me started on the mouth watering art that Namco included as a secret bonus. There were no beautiful computer generated movies, but I was more than satisfied with what was presented. Now, let's fast forward to the highly anticipated Soul Calibur 2. I have to sa that I'm disappointed with what I've seen and heard and what I haven't seen and heard. My concern, apparent in the thread's title, is whether or not the game will bring any significant improvements to the plate. In the preview version, people have stated that the characters and gameplay are very familiar with the DreamCast version. Most of the characters from the original version are nearly identical in physical appearance and fighting style, offering change, only in a few move animations. Overall, there are some modifications to gameplay, but I'm wondering if it will be enough to keep the series on the high pedestal that it's predecessors put it on. Do you think that we'll see enough change to make this game a hit sequel or a cash in on the franchise?
Originally posted by Delian Otherwise you could just go tell your parents what kind of guy he is and maybe they will forbid your sister to go out with him....
I agree with Delian on this one. Rather than trying to beat the guy up, which won't solve anything, you should just tell your parents about the situation. If you parents really don't like the guy, they'll probably sit her down and have a talk with her. Remember, if something is out of your hands, it's always better to go to a parent then to pull something lame, like attacking someone. In the end, your sister is your parents' responsibility and she's more likely to respect what they say than she would a sibling.

Yeah, the graphics are amazing in Final Fantasy X, but what isn't? Square just has an artisitc edge that separates their products from the rest of the pack. Sure, a lot of companies can make great looking character models and backdrops, but Square brings it together like no one else to create a totally believable world. On another note, don't look for Chrono Break and Unlimited SaGa anytime soon. Right now, Square's concentrating on Kingdom Hearts and further Final Fantasy installments.

I just want to remind everyone to refrain from talking about actual cheat codes. So far, you're all talking about tactics/strategy--and that's fine. But, I know that Grand Theft Auto 3 has a lot of cheat codes and we don't really like people posting simple cheats as it's not real discussion. ;)
Originally posted by Evil-Sheep Even without being harsh, dont you think thats a rather rough atitude? especially if they're twelve and she might actually be in puberty stages (delicate stages..). I wouldnt do that if I were you, I would simply E-mailed her like some wrote above and told her I wanna meat her in person and figure things out, I dont know bout you guys, but i'm a better talker face-to-face than on E mail or phone, so thats what I would do, of course I would try to understand what's wrong with her on phone 2.. I think you got the straight of what i'm writing here
Well, yeah, I know it comes across that way in writing (which is why I put that thing in about not being harsh). You see, I'm just giving the bare bones of what needs to be straightened out. Like, she could just go up to the girl and say, "I just want to know if you're mad at me, because that's what it seems like." If the person still doesn't answer, it'd be best to leave them alone, because it's what they want.

Asar and Pastbyer, you both did very well. Congratulations. Basically, most people only believe in what they can see. The ironic thing is that they can't see who they are. I mean, look in the mirror, but that image isn't really you--the true person is located within. Basically, people forget things like this and rely too much on what they see. In addition to what you both said, it focuses on looking beyond what is laid out in front of us. My philosophy is that we all create our own Heavens and Hells--our own limitations and lifestyles.
By the way, is it about a person who has lost faith in something in a place that's really cold thinking about life and it's meanings?
Well, you can interpret it anyway you want to. That's the thing I love about reading other peoples' work. The reader can create their own story based on how they percieve things. Maybe the man didn't have faith to begin with and now he's on a journey to find it. Perhaps he did indeed lose it along the way, and now his soul is void of all happiness. You can draw the conclusion based on how you see fit, because you two have already uncovered the underlying meaning. Sadly, it's not all about a cat though. That would have been too obvious, lol. If there's anything else you guys don't understand, just let me know and I'll clear it up. Oh yeah, and um, here's your cookie. It mysteriously looks like a pokeball though...:ball: I really appreciate anyone's time who read it--even if they didn't completely understand it. It makes me feel happy that you felt it was worth reading. -
I've always went by a simple motto: "Don't turn your back to others; That's not where your heart is." If I were you I would confront her and tell her to cut the crap. Demand a straight answer and tell her that what she's doing is hurting your friendship. You shouldn't have to wait in the dark, while she gives you the cold shoulder. It's not what friendship is about. If she refuses to comply, then her friendship isn't worth your time, because friendship isn't meant to make you feel bad. I mean, don't be harsh or anything, but she should at least tell you that she needs time to herself instead of leaving you hanging.
Originally posted by SSJ4BROLLI i don't know if anyone else has thought of this already but i was watching tough enough last night and was wondering who would get the winner of tough enough 2? do they have an agreement since mcmahon has a rookie flair gets the new winner or are they going to flip a coin or what?
I have no clue what they'll do with the new winner. WWF managemnt is seriously considering brining Chris Harvard in for a feud with Maven though. They've even given him a couple dark matches. I'd bet that Flair would get the rookie though; it'd really even things up. As for Nash not selling, well you're right Nerdsy. But, you do have to admit that the powerbomb he gave to Rock a couple weeks ago, was a thing of beauty.

Wow, WWF is really popular lately. That makes me feel good. There's already a topic on this though. Click Here to see what other members thought of the draft.
Originally posted by Zero-X same as in 8 im missing some cards in 9 the card game really gets on my nerves i mean i like it an all but all diffrent cards there r just too many of them!!!!:demon:
Yeah, I didn't like the card game in FF9 as much as the one in FF8 for some reason. I found FF8's to be almost as addicting to that mini game in Suikoden where you threw dice into a bowl.

Well, this goes to show you that it'll be darn near impossible for an American system to be successful overseas. With both Atari and Microsoft failing, I have to wonder just what American company could make a dent in the console wars.
-
I agree with Sephiroth. Goten isn't really a warrior, whereas Gokou is. Quite frankly, he only has Super Saiya-jin powers were given to him through heredity, rather than through harsh training. Also, I doubt that he could beat Furiza, because he can't even control a ki blast at the age we're talking about.

Gaming Who is your favorite FF hero (personality)
Charles replied to Evil-Sheep's topic in Noosphere
I would have to say either Tidus or Zidane. It was actually a pleasure spending a bunch of hours guiding their adventures....unlike that melodramatic Squall. -
As the training sphere closes, one last glimmering ray of light from the inevitably defeated day shines upon the sweltering stadium. There kneels an ominous figure. Down on his right knee, the blustering wind blows his hair and clothing back. His massive black trench coat is raised parallel to the ground, denied it?s escape into the currents of the wind only by his amazingly broad shoulders. Underneath the cloak are black leather boots met mid-calf by black leather pants, and a shirtless torso riveted with rock-solid muscles harder than concrete. His jet-black and red locks, long enough to touch the crest of his breastplate, flow majestically in the wind and reveal the warm glow of his pale face. Due to the cold, his white, almost translucent skin seems to hide the key to his unspeakable secrets ? a young face, untouched by years of unknown terrors of the past that haunted many of the older warriors. But for all this, he kneels in silence, concentrating his energy, his blood red lips pursed tightly together in the face of unforgiving Nature. Though young, the boy had become one with any enviroment--his true mother and his eyes give away a fire deep within that cannot be cleansed from his body. A fire that rages stronger than ever before. A fire that roars without hatred, vengeance and anger, but with benevolent grace. A fire that can never be quenched, for he is that fire, and his will is indomitable? The small figure regains his feet, showing an unexpected, imposing stature. Standing like a burlesque, miniature, monolith amongst the gale force winds, he is unfettered, unmoving, unaffected. He stands tall in the face of Nature? and wins. With his head tilted towards the ground, his jacket and hair blowing about violently in the wind, he is a cold, calculating monstrosity stoic in the face of Nature?s petty attempts to topple him over. A shrouded smirk crosses his face, bearing icy-white teeth and crimson gums? and that smirk portrays not vengeance, retribution, anger and deceit, all rolled up into one big, nasty, violent, terrifying ball, but pure joviality. That joviality is wrapped, saturated and laced with pristine innocence, the ever so sweet desire for the fight. "This tundra training sphere is stupid, " Sugara says, his lips twisting up in a disappointing grin. Shrugging he adds, "It isn't even that cold. I wonder if that funny looking Warthog guy is awake yet....He looks pretty tough; I wanna kick his butt. First I need to put on my Gi though." Sugara's muscles relax as he powers down, once again giving him the appearance of a scrawny young boy. Climbing out of the training sphere, was a boy that would prove to Warlock that big surprises come in small packages.
Originally posted by Nerdsy What will happen to Heat and Jakked/Metal? Will they be affected by the split? I hope they make it so that they'd have inter-promotional at Heat. Thet would put Heat backon the map, and take it away from beeing a fith recap show in the week. (assuming Super Starz and the other one is still on)
Well, Heat is going to be Flair's show (it was taped Monday) and Jakked/Metal will be McMahon's show. I too, would like to see some of these shows, like Heat became a quality show again. It seems like it's gaining slightly more quality now though. I saw that battle royal too. The nostalgia was overwhelming. Just hearing Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Mean Gene was worth the price of the ppv. By the way, I'll just update eveyone and make note of Nash's torn bicep. It'll be a few months before he's in action again, according to what I've heard. Bad news....

Well, I don't think it'll take another five or six years for PS3, mainly because a system only lasts around that time span and PS2 has been out for a couple years now. Then again, Sony's President and CEO said that the Xbox would most likely accelerate the industry enough so that Sony would have to speed up PS3 development. I sure hope that they don't pull a Sega on us.... One thing is for sure, Sony's concerned over the ethernet support and hard drive. I guess that they see it as the future of console gaming. Basically, what Rico said rings true. Both Sony and Microsoft are interested in creating technological swiss army knives--the ultimate home entertainment centers. Hopefully, they won't forget that it's all about the games. I don't know if anyone's noticed, but some of Sony's franchises, such as GameDay have turned into cash-ins. Hey, and it's good to see you posting Foredaddy.

Yes, this monster is looming on a distant horizon. In all likelihood, we won't get our hands on a Playstation 3 for another two to three years, but that doesn't stop us from taking a peek into the future.
IBM, Toshiba, Sony Corporation, and Sony Computer Entertainment have announced they've reached an agreement that will allow the three companies to jointly develop chip technology based on IBM's silicon-on-insulator technology and other technological advances in chip making. The agreement is expected to lead to lower-priced chips that can power a variety of devices ranging from computers to video game consoles.
Lower-priced chips mean lower-priced systems right? Yes and no. The way I see things, consoles are increasingly leaning towards personal computers. It's a safe assumption to say that the next Playstation will have a built in hard drive, internet support, and play DVDs. Undoubtedly, this checklist of "improvements" will increase the system's price and blur the line between console and PC even further. The new system architecture is currently known as "Cell" and will be able to streamline the transfer of 3D images, speech, and games over a broadband network. What does everyone think about this news? Microsoft has been bashed for making the Xbox similar to a PC. I don't necessarily think that PC elements are bad; it just seems like it's going to be more difficult to distinguish between console and PC gaming.
Originally posted by Sephiroth now why would anyone want to do that.....apart from yaoi fanatics?! yaoi power!
Hehe, I don't see how anyone could find Cloud and Barret together appealing. As Muhammad Ali might say, Barret looks like a big, ugly bear. Now, if only there was a way to go on a date with that chick from The Turks. Yeah, ;) you all know who I'm talking about.

Gaming Resident Evil: The Movie Is Like Not The Game!!
Charles replied to SSJ Gotenks ok's topic in Noosphere
Originally posted by James My point is that the movie (from what I have read thusfar), didn't really stick to the games as it should have. Perhaps that is fairly subjective. In any case, the movie will still conflict with RE0...which is a prequel to the original. And so that makes me wonder how Capcom will approach RE0...if they'll totally disregard the movie or if they'll somehow incorporate elements of both.
Oh yeah, I understand what you mean. Although the film serves as a decent prequel to Resident Evil, I've got to wonder if Capcom will basically ignore its plot in RE0 and contradict it with their own. We'll see I guess... There is no denying that it replicates the videogame better than most, if not all, other videogame to movie translations. The only problems I've seen is that they overuse sound effects volume, rely too heavily on sex appeal, and steal a few scenes from other notable horror flicks. -
Gaming Resident Evil: The Movie Is Like Not The Game!!
Charles replied to SSJ Gotenks ok's topic in Noosphere
Originally posted by James I think the main problem is that the movie doesn't seem to relate to the game much at all. I mean, at least if they'd provided a "direct" prequel...that would have been better. But all this supercomputer nonsense...it's ridiculous. It has nothing to do with Resident Evil. And in that regard, I can understand why he's annoyed...movies based off games would often do better to follow the games more closely, in my opinion.
Haha, James, have you even seen the movie? Actually, it's very much like the game and serves as a direct prequel. Basically, the movie shows how the virus was created and how the whole situation with umbrella, the mansion, and Racoon City developed. Also, it shows the creation of the very first licker and the nemesis. Basically there is very little "super computer nonsense." If you've seen the movie, you would know that it gets shut down early in the film and makes a small reappearance later on. All the computer is, is a means of containing the virus--it's not even the main villain of the film. Anyway, as I've said before, there are no familiar faces because we would already know what happened to them, thus, eliminating any suspense. -
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud I think about death sometimes. I wonder what happens when we pass on, hopefully curiosity won't kill this cat;)
Cats have nine lives, so no worries there....;) Anyway, I'm not as concerned about death as I am about growing old. I don't want to have gray hair and loose skin. Old people are always cold too....and they can feel the weather in their knees. Uh-uh, not me pal, stay away from me Father Time. I wouldn't mind death as much if I didn't have to grow old to achieve it.
