I finally got the chance to see the movie yesterday and I was impressed to say the least. The Resident Evil films has carried over the tense feeling of the series perfectly while revealing many pieces of the overall plot that had yet to be revealed in the games. Initially, I figured the film would center around a super computer that went awry, creating zombies and other fiends. I couldn't have been more wrong. Surprisingly, the super computer has little part in the overall plot. The super computer is just a reaction to an unseen villain's sabotage. I'll try to explain the bones of the plot without spoiling anything, but beware what you read may be a SPOILER in some ways. Most of the movie takes place in Umbrella's secret, underground research facility known as the Hive, which is located directly beneath Racoon City. The movie begins when an unseen figure steals sample of the T Virus and tosses one of the stolen viles to the ground, spilling its contents upon impact. The Super computer basically wipes out everyone in the facility in an effort to contain the virus. The movie really takes off when Allice(Milla Jovovich) wakes up in the famous Resident Evil mansion with amnesia. The bare plot of the film is survival. A team of Umbrella's elite must infiltrate the Hive and shut down the computer(because they think it has gone homicidal). Truly, the film is stylish and true to the series in almost every way. The monsters, ranging from zombies, dogs, lickers and even crows ring true to the series. I recommend the film to all fans of the game. I would go as far as to say that Paul Anderson has directed the best video game to silver screen project to date with Resident Evil.

Bido is the strongest of Bojack's cronies in DBZ movie 9. Super Saiyan 2 Gohan eventually punches him in half, thus defeating him.
Originally posted by James However, Sonic was created by Yuji Naka (although actually, Yuji Naka only programmed the games...the characters were designed by Ohshima...I forget his first name, but I saw an interview with him in a magazine once).
Ah yes, but did you know that Naka angrily left development of the second Sonic game? Basically, he didn't really have much to do with that one. Furthermore, he even quit the company for a period of time. I have educated all of you, although I basically answered nothing in the quiz(Because I have no clue on that comic book question).
Originally posted by Final_Flash Sometimes for people like me who missed out on the Video gaming revolution, Emulators and ROMs are the only way to play these older games. Sad but true... And that's my little tale.
Well, I suppose if you look at it that way then it's all good. My main problem is that there are few people like you in that regard. As a whole, sites containing roms mainly focus on PSX, Snes, Genesis, GameBoy, DreamCast, N64, and NES. It's just a shame that the videogame industry has to take a hit because people don't realize that by buying a game they are supporting a company.

I like the first Metal Gear Solid better than the second. The storyline is brilliant but doesn't get in the way of the game. I'll slap you silly if you don't purchase it, seeing as how it's probably on Sony's Greatest Hits. I know that you could get a copy for twenty bucks easy. Plus, there's a sharper looking pc version for twenty bucks, or if you have a DreamCast, there's a released BleemCast disc that'll allow you to play the PSX version with better graphics. Anyhow, if you're going to play MGS2, then you should play through this game in one form or another. I never played the VR missions either as a protest to Konami not bringing over MG Intregl(sp?).

Sparrows chirped on green boughs, and bathed in pristine sunlight. Sugara lie in a thicket of grass, giggling uncontrollably as the surrounding vegetation danced back and forth around him with a shifting breeze. When Sugara was bored, he often played a game by choosing a cloud and guessing what shape it most resembled. Today he had come across cows, cars and lollipops. Cupping a hand over his brow, Sugara squinted past the white cotton puffs at one of planet Vegeta's suns. Rays of dual sunlight reached down and bathed the land with warmth and coated it in an angelic aura. Yawning lazily, Sugara rose. Stretching his arms, he felt the muscles under his smooth skin tingle from his elbow to his cleanly clipped finger tips. Looking up into the sky, a castle shaped cloud caught the boy's attention. His eyes twinkling with wonderment, Sugara exclaimed, "Wow, I wanna go there!" Surely, beautiful princesses lie in wait behind pristine white walls, but Sugara's dislike for cooties didn't dim the dream one bit. "I bet that there are strong dragons that I could fight," he gasped. Coincendtally, the youth's stomach roared mightily. Placing his hand atop his head embarrassedly, he added, "But right now I sure am hungry." Sugara whistled loudly, the shrill of wind passing through his lips touching the farthest corners of the vast field. Twittering rapidly, feathered creatures fluttered into the sky, abandoning the leafy confines of their perches. "Carl," Sugara sang excitedly, as his only friend, a large mountain cat, crashed through unwitting brush. Tackling Sugara, Carl purred acknowledging his own jubilation. Laughing, the two raced through the fields and unknowingly stumbling upon their greatest adventure yet.

There is no way to ensure that people who download roms already have the games. Most people who already have the game wouldn't download it anyway. I see roms as robbing sales from the gaming companies. It actually hurts the industry any way you look at it.

His large, curious eyes show little sign of aggression, but are filled with joy and wonderment. Exceptional build marks his body unique for his age. Dual colored hair proves to be his most curious characteristic. Red and black streaks jet through his short hairstyle, causing many to stare at him in bewilderment. Sugara wears a simple black gi embroidered with unfamiliar designs. He refuses to wear shoes because "His feet are afraid of the dark." Level: Third Class Power Level: 11,000

Well, I know they were brother and sister for a fact. In the Super 17 saga, 17 holds back with his blast, because as Gokou later points out, he couldn't bring himself to kill his sister. It's said that he knew the bomb was removed in her all along..he just didn't really want to harm her.
Originally posted by Cloud I could of sworn that Cloud was also in Final Fantasy Tactics....... It was the SAME Cloud too.... not like the ever-changing Cid....
Yeah, but like the characters in Ergheiz, he was only a bonus hidden character. Sure, he had his own little back story, but overall it was just a treat. Besides, I'm focusing on the main Final Fantasy series. Tactics is a series of it's own. We've never seen Cloud in FF8 through FF10, now have we?;)
Originally posted by Solid Snake Someone may look at a game portraying violent acts with very good graphics, such as Grand Theft Auto III, and a game portraying violent acts with not as good graphics, such as Grand Theft Auto I. Which one will be their prey? Correct, the one with the better graphics, Grand Theft Auto III. They choose the most gruesome game in the bunch with great graphics because they believe it will have the greatest impact on society. And it does.
Well, I don't necessarily think Grand Theft Auto 3 is very gory. There are far more violent games on the market. In fact, you have to enter a code just to separate limbs from people. I'm telling you, there are better looking games out there that feature much more detailed death sequences. The overall content of the series(stealing cars, picking up prostitutes, etc.) adds up. What I was trying to point out is that it's popularity plus content that really gets people riled up. Anyway, I'm not saying that I totally disagree with you here. You make some good points. However, I am saying that factually, the government isn't focusing on developers right now. What can they do to them? There's already an ESRB ratings system in place. If government prohibits the manufacturing of adult games, then they may as well do the same for rated R films in the movie industry. Government however, is focusing on retailers, as I've cited with the Violent Video Game Act.
I never said that there was any censored versions in the United States, but merely commented that those who had censored it, or banned it, in their own country, may come together and try to ban it altogether.
Well, when you said:
I don't want them to prohibit the releases of the future Grand Thaft Auto games, but the same indiviuals resposible for ordering the making of the censored GTA3s might.
I just guess it came off that way. There aren't any censored GTA3 games on the market. I'm not counting four seconds of dropped out speech censored. That's what I called a minor alteration. Most likely it didn't change the product as a whole.

Well, I'll have to add onto this topic with an unncessarily long post by outlining the main games I want to play/purchase based on what I've heard. Vitua Fighter 4 The Virtua Fighter Series has always been a step ahead in terms of visuals, but daunting to say the least in it's sophisticated gameplay mechanics. The tables have turned now. While it remains impressive in terms of visuals with expansive backdrops and sophisticated facial expressions, it's not the most impressive visual package on a console anymore. Now, the series is focusing on bringing fans back with an easier learning curve while catering to veterans as well. There's no doubt in my mind that it'll be the fighter to own for PS2 until Tekken 4 comes along. However, I hope that they implement some sort of storyline for once.... Final Fantasy XI For the first time, Square's bringing it's beloved Final Fantasy franchise into the realm of online gaming and I couldn't be more pleased with what I'm hearing. Forming six man parties and uniting with other parties(sometimes totaling up to 18 people) sounds awesome. What I'm really anxious to see, is how Square will translate the fantastic storyline elements that it's rpgs are renowned for. The communication system in the game seems well thought out. There are ways to communicate with specific people, long distance people and only people in the immediate area. Plus, there's a link shell that allows gamers to make private chats. This'll definitely be one that I'll add to my collection. Those two games are the ones that I'm most looking forward to. Others include Tomb Raider Next Generation, Tekken 4, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Xenosaga, Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, Kingdom Hearts, Auto Modellista, Soul Calibur 2, Stuntman, new Grand Theft Auto games and Blood Omen 2. Most people look forward to a new Tomb Raider game like they do a cold sore, but I'm really anxious to see what the developers will do to pull the series out of the rut the franchise is in. Likewise for Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. Ed Boon and his team are totally altering the gameplay by giving each fighter three distinct fighting styles that can be switched on the fly. I want to see how they do this without making the gameplay cumbersome. Furthermore, they're eliminating many of the magical attacks that have spanned the series. Also, we'll see fighters take damage, which is long overdo in next gen fighters. My only gripe with the pictures I've seen, is that the backgrounds leave something to be desired. Then again, the games not even near complete yet. Well, that's it for my picks. Crazy White Boy out.
Originally posted by SolidSnake2 The style I really like is realism! I don't get the story if there superdeformed! 2 bit Sprites are okay, but you can barely see what they're doing like in ff7.:( :smirk: Snake
Well, I'll clear up a little confusion here. Although the characters in FFVII are super deformed(except in battle), they're not two dimensional sprites. Rather, they're three dimensional polygonal models. I feel that although they're undetailed, their animations provide cool touches....something most sprite based games aren't effective in.
Originally posted by Cloud Something popped into my head while reading that Flash, it made me differ my opinion a bit. Final. that means last... None of them were truely the "last fantasy" now were they??? so why are we going by the word "fantasy" and not it's full titre as "final fantasy"??? If it has nothing to do with "last", then whos to say it has anything to do with "fantasy"?
I interpret the "Final" to mean that it's the last fantasy for the group of characters in the game. None of the games keep the same characters for the sequel, hence it's their final fantasy.
Originally posted by Solid Snake I knew that the game was third in a triligy, I'm not that stupid. I was merely stating that Grand Thaft Auto III, because of it's 3 dimensional atmosphere and graphic sense of a criminal life posing as a threat to the kind of organizations trying to stop that, was like a whole different game, in a way, then it's prequals. This was the game that I was hearing about on the news and whatnot, not the previous versions. Very true, it is currently spawning many games such as Driver 3, like you said, and Reckless, which may have been in the making at the time of GTA3's release anyway. So yes, many people ARE saying "once is enough," the first being the 3 dimensional and ever so popular, Grand Thaft Auto III. I don't want them to prohibit the releases of the future Grand Thaft Auto games, but the same indiviuals resposible for ordering the making of the censored GTA3s might. :blah:
I didn't try to insinuate that you're stupid--it's not like me to do that. What I was trying to say was that your "Once is enough" statement doesn't really cut it here. I won't try to prove that bringing the game to a three dimensional level doesn't make a difference in portraying violent acts--because it does. The fact of the matter is, all three of the GTA games have similar content. Honestly, I can tell you that simple looking expressions can provoke controversy. Just take a look at Mortal Kombat or DOOM. I don't find either of those games very realistic. Mortal Kombat featured ridiculously sized red blobs and tons of the same body parts repeated. DOOM had unrealistic weaponry, no aiming, and less blood than your average hack n' slash film. Likewise, the first two GTA games looked unrealistic, but because of the acts portrayed and the popularity of the game, controversy soared. Controversy is no stranger to the gaming industry, but rarely does it affect a games availability anymore..to my knowledge. Back in the day games like Night Trap were taken off shelves, but we don't see much of that anymore. (Thrill Kill is the last thing I remember being affected but because of the company was bought out and the new one was wary of the title's content). Trust me, many more people will copy off of the game and try to emulate it's success. It's a fact Jack. Whatever earns monumental sales will be copied. Once isn't enough.... As for censored versions--there are none in the Unite States. A representative of Rockstar Games, laughed at reports that the game had been censored, stating that the company fully stands behind it's product and cited the prohibitive cost involved in retooling and re-releasing a game that has been on store shelves for several months.

I don't know....I really don't agree with them totally breaking away from Snake. I agree with you when you said:
However, I understand why Raiden was included. Playing from his perspective meant that when you encounter Snake, he seems more impressive -- Hideo Kojima wanted to distance the player from Snake a little at the start, in order to add a new impression of him.
But, I think that by the time you beat it, you'll agree that they totally overdid it. It's hard to take a character like Raiden seriously in this situation. Quite frankly, his looks have little to do with my dislike for the decision to include him to the extent they did. Without spoiling anything, it becomes annoying saving a game and listening to he and his girlfriend sort out their personal problems. Not only is it unrealistic--it's ridiculous. It takes away from the realism of the game. In that situation, they would never allow personal situations interfere in such serious matters. The whole scenario seems melodramatic to me. If you chose to skip his whiny girlfriend's babbling, you're forced to skip through pages of text. It took multiple games before we got to know the full Snake. Metal Gear Solid 2 reveals a little too much about Raiden in one game. We learn his entire background, his fears, and his entire persona. Yeah, Kojima did a good job in letting us see Snake for the hardcore hero he is through younger eyes, but he took it too far. I believe that there should have been a way to play Snake's half of the quest as well. Maybe seeing Raiden though his eyes would have added to the quest as well.

I highly doubt it's from a movie. There's zero possiblity. Nubuo Uematsu composed an original soundtrack for the game.
Originally posted by SolidSnake2 Thanks Guys!:D I knew someone would realize that Final Fantasy is a clissic! Oh! By the way! Man I'm going to get that kid who said it suks:demon: and kick his sorry but to jupiter!:blackeye: Thanks again for the support! :D :smirk: Snake
Lol, did you even read anything I said? Trust me, all people aren't shallow. It's kinda harsh to stereotype people like that. I have all of those systems and I still like the game a lot. Some people do have mature reasons for not liking the game. It's all a matter of preference. You can't really say someone else is wrong just for not liking it. We aren't really rallying around the game....we just like it. Heck, other people's opinions are just that......opinions.
Originally posted by Solid Snake Yes, in fact, I believe I had one of them, heh. Back to Grand Theft Auto III, sure they tolerated it once, but twice is pushing their luck. I'm sorry if I seem to be questioning your judgement, but there is always a possibility. If they do, in fact, allow another two to be released, then I am sure most stores will sell out of it so fast that you wouldn't be able to get one anyway. It is popular, and will continue to grow popular if they stay on the same track. If they change it too much, or not enough, however, they could kiss their fame good-bye. We'll just have to wait and see how everything plays out. :blah:
Well you make an interesting point by saying, "once is enough?" Remember the "III" at the end of the title. This game is the third in a trilogy. The reason the game has garnered so much controversy is because it's three dimensional now. Overall, it's not much more extreme than it's predecessors. Anyway, even if they did cancel further installments of the Grand Theft Auto series, the problem would not be solved. Because of the game's success, there will surely be imitators. Heck, Driver 3 has been in development pre PS2 launch and is said to take the concept even further. "We'll see about that one," is my response. While we're on the subject of questionable content, the Violent Video Game Protection Act has been submitted in the Georgia legislature and would make criminals out of anyone selling a game rated violent by the ERSB rating system to a minor. This leads me to believe that government is focusing its attack on retailers rather than developers....
Originally posted by Solid Snake Probably mine, and this news is sure to bring up some controversy because of the way Grand Theft Auto III was portrayed, so don't don't get your hopes up just yet. :blah:
Oh, my hopes are up, hehe. Grand Theft Auto III, despite rumors of it being banned or recalled and "toned down" is still readily available in it's original form at every major video game retailer. This includes the infamous Wal-Mart(who always pulls controversial products). Remember the Al Snow doll controversy? They took an action figure off the shelves because the character carried around a mannequin head. Hehe, they said it portrayed "violence against women." Off that tangent, it's pretty safe to say that we'll be keeping our Grand Theft Auto for quite a while.

Oh boy, I have some great news for Grand Theft Auto 3 fans. It turns out that the success of the first game will result in an expansion title to be called Grand Theft Auto III: Miami. This new title should be out by the end of the year and insiders say that it takes place in Don Johnson's old stomping ground. Don't forget that Grand Theft Auto 4 is in development as well...
Originally posted by Darkeldar201 I think the movie takes place before the game, to show you how the zombies were created. I already posted that information on this same page.;) Anyway, like I said before it's also a prequel because the director did not want to use established characters. We would already know that they survive, thus, eliminating the sense of fear the film is meant to establish.

Continuing with the spolier.... I believe that her death was a brilliant move. By introducing such a lovable character and having the player get used to and sympathize with her, only to be forced to bid an early farewell to her in a tragic way made the game very emotional. It was such a great way to pull the player in. The tragedy added a lot to the game by lending it reality. It proved that all of the protagonists aren't invincible to evil...they are human and they can die. Furthermore, it really got Sephiroth over as an antagonist. If the player didn't believe he was evil there, then they had problems. Because of that, the player wants to hunt his masamune wielding butt down and beat the crap out of him.

Well, you have to be fair here. Final Fantasy VII followed, arguably, the most beloved game in the series. A lot of people disliked the dark, industrial appearance at the outset of the game and immediately dismissed it. Other people might have disliked the characters compared to Final Fantasy VI's. A lot of people didn't think that the soundtrack was up to Nubuo Uematsu's usual high standards. Lastly, the battle system might not have been to their liking. Remember we were coming off of a four person party stripped down to a three person party. The implementing of materia surely turned a few anti-customization heads off. Overall I loved the game. Most of the characters were very memorable in their own way. Sephiroth is probably the best villain to ever grace a game, console or PC. The storyline actually makes people think and interpret things. I've debated the ending with Sephiroth and Kuja to some extent and I can tell you that it's pretty interesting to see how others interpret it. Anyway, the game was released in 1997(I think?) and we're still talking about it today. That alone tells you the game is amazing. Overall it's my second favorite in the series, closely following FFX.
