1.
SSSSSH. Geisha theme is my haven away from the awful Christmas banners that get chosen every year.[/color']
Maybe they can ruin the Geisha theme with a Coca Cola bear for uniformity.

    Wii

I went online on Xbox today and couldn't check the weather but I did play against someone in a video game. Darn.
  3. Yeah, I just did the Western-style segment today; I played through it twice just because of how much fun it was. I also like the story elements that take place afterwards. As for the variety--it's pretty cool. Many of these segments seem like mini-games, which is no big deal, but the way they're worked seamlessly into the game is cool. I probably like the snowboard segment the best. Fishing is also cool once you're really able to do it (none of that Ordon village crap). The Wiimote fishing alone makes it the definitive version. Also, EGM says that there are 9 dungeons.
  4. Well you know, I would love it if the game had a hard mode but in all honesty, Zelda's always been more about exploration than difficult combat. "Shadow of the Colossus" would probably be a great game for some of you to try if you want a Zelda-like experience with a higher difficulty.
  5. Yeah, the orchestrated music would have really elevated the ambience to a new level; it did wonders for DQ 8 on the PS2. I don't know if you've ever seen the E3 2K5 trailer, but I suggest watching it if you really want a glimpse at how terrific the game's score would sound if orchestrated: http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2631 On the bright side, I'm glad that there are so many quality original compositions. When I first began the game I was treated to the exact same MIDI tracks I heard in Ocarina of Time, which was rather disappointing; as the game progresses and the new stuff sets in, the soundtrack quickly becomes awesome despite its technical shortcomings. Unfortunately all of the bosses are ridiculously easy to take down. Most of them can't sustain more than a handful of blows and finding the pattern to kill them is as easy as equipping whatever new item you've found in a dungeon. Fortunately, the boss battles are still epic and super fun. I'm really inclined to think that the dungeons in these games are typically "the bosses" and the encounter at the end of of a dungeon is almost like the reward. The boss battle in the Arbiter's Grounds dungeon is easily my favorite thus far. So, look forward to that one; it's still a while off but I think you'll really like it too. Anyway, I'm still liking this game a lot. Thanks to some advice from Desbreko, I've managed to master the backslash, which was one of the only things annoying me. I also just wish that some of the items took advantage of the Wii-remote better. Many of the items tend to control the same. The difficulty is just way too easy. Although the dungeons, like the bosses, are fun to tackle, most of them are just far too easy to blow through. The puzzles are clever but most are straightforward. The actual layout and design of the dungeons mostly makes up for their shortcomings though. The dungeons are basically the same deal as the bosses--easy but enjoyable. I have stumbled across a couple sections that have made me pause to think, however. Lastly, as the game goes on I think it sheds some of the more unique elements that were present at the outset and it becomes a bit "too familiar." Overall though, I'm satisfied and the game is on track to be my favorite in the series.
  6.
Actually, the PAL market is the world's fastest-growing market for videogames. And within the next five to ten years, Europe is on track to become the world's largest gaming market - outstripping both Japan and the United States. Europe is a good indicator of growth, especially when it comes to market expansion (ie: attracting new gamers).
I just want to expand on this with some information from http://www.nintendo.co.uk:
As the must-have product for the festive season Wii was an instant hit. Attracting vast crowds and selling out in stores all over Europe in just a matter of hours, a breathtaking 325,000 units were sold in the first two days making it the fastest selling home console in history. Demand for Wii has been so great that shops all over Europe had large queues forming outside for up to three days before the launch and hundreds of shops opened their doors at midnight on launch day to allow gamers to get their hands on Wii. After just one weekend on sale, shops across Europe sold out of Wii consoles and daily shipments are now arriving across Europe to replenish stock. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess proved to be a favourite for avid gamers, with 240,000 copies snapped up over launch weekend in Europe, representing 74% of all hardware purchasers. Wii Play was also a big hit with over 50% of people buying the game (which includes a Wii Remote) along with their Wii console.
Also:
While Wii enjoyed a hugely successful launch, Nintendo DS also had a record-breaking week with 515,000 units sold across Europe last week, which is not only the highest week's sales since the console?s launch but also the most any console across all formats has ever sold in a week! Nintendo?s handheld phenomenon has taken Europe by storm since its release in March 2005, with over 8.5 million consoles now sold across Europe.
I don't mean to convolute a Playstation 3 thread with Nintendo sales figures, but I think these numbers reinforce how important the market is in Europe and how Sony's late launch over there is probably going to cause them signficant problems this gen.
  7.
Oh now you changed your post! :animeswea
Yeah, I had noticed that you had changed your sig and I didn't want anyone analyzing your current one and thinking it was what I was talking about. :catgirl:
I would pretend to be a girl, and then when they asked what that was in my pocket i'd reply, "c'mon baby, just imagine it's a big finger." My...i should stop there........o_o
Don't be vulgar; we're having a wholesome discussion here. I think I'm going to ban you for one day just because of how lame that was.
  8.
Wow...this thing has gotten some real fire to it eh. I'm strait and to be honest I like lesbians... ...as long as I get in on the fun.
Lesbians aren't into guys.
  9.
insert B.S. here -A
Don't come in here telling me that my posts are not pertinent. Like, how dare you. The original poster has said that my points are valid.
They are indeed helping me since I've honestly never been to sure of my sexual identity. You should all losen up and stop acting like a bunch of perverted pigs and Stop being so defensive of me. I can handle myself. Besides if I were sure of my sexuality I would've shun the idea of homosexuality[/B'].
Anyone who can't see past the obviously lighthearted undertones in my posts and arrive at the relevance of my message (that if God has supposedly created lostvoice as she is, then God should accept her) then you're just dense. The fact of the matter is that lostvoice has some self-admitted issues she needs to sort out before I can be proven wrong. I'm not telling anyone in here that their advice is wrong, so kindly refrain from insulting me and my opinion.
  10.
Excuse me? When I was addressing lostvoice, I had a conversation with her proper. A fun, joke-y conversation, sure, but a conversation nonetheless. It's pretty obvious that most people in this thread are joking around and not serious, and lostvoice herself hasn't got a big problem with it, so maybe you shouldn't speak for her in future.[/color']
Agreed. First of all, I never made a bet as to when this thread was going to get closed; if I felt that it should have been closed, I kinda woulda sorta closed it myself. Secondly, I am waiting for an answer, which is why I said I would stop discussing the subject until I was quoted again (perhaps by lostvoice). Most of my recent posts have been simply in jest, or to defend my point against attack. I just find it a little offensive when I come into a thread, offer advice and then someone comes in preaching, telling me that I have contributed nothing to the discussion. If I want to joke and have a good time in the thread to lighten the mood, then I don't see why I shouldn't be able to. The topic itself is kind of morose, so I'm attempting to provide some levity and judging from lostvoice's replies, I don't think I've hurt her. None of us are psychologists and OtakuBoards is meant to provide fun; so we should be able to discuss serious problems in a fun way. Basically, I think you're making a big issue out of nothing and I'm going to have to ask you to remain on topic from now on instead of playing moderator. Thanks. That also goes to all of you who are betting when the thread will be closed; that alone is ignorant and annoying. I don't want to see it anymore.
  11.
Nice! Anyway, you have a point there. She can't get intimate with her boyfriend, and she she has a crush on a girl. But does that make her gay? Once upon a time, I had a crush on a boy, but I'm still very strait. Is it possible to have a crush on the same sex but still be strait?
Well, that's all very subjective. She could indeed be straight, but if she really wants to feel a sense of personal fulfillment, she's going to have to experiment and find out the truth for herself. If she finds that females aren't for her, then I was wrong but hopefully we get pics anyway. And I'm not "ragging" on her MistressRoxie nor am I being a "jerk.". As much fun as I'm having with this, I have still made valid points that have not been contradicted. This is not simply a "love advice" thread. The original poster has not been dating her boyfriend long enough to "love" him. If I wasn't interested in helping her, I wouldn't have clicked on the thread to begin with. In short, lighten up and stop acting like it's impossible for people to be gay. But like I said, if no one quotes me I won't really bother with providing any further input on the subject.
  12.
Talking about persistance...Charles stop trying to turn her gay and her little name "lostvoice" I'm pretty sure of doesn't hid any lesbinic (if that's a word) urges, I personally think the name lostvoice signafies an small voice that has been lost in the sounds around it ya' know something like that berhaps a lost...somethin'.
You may be right but my explanation totally sounded like, a thousand times better and more coherent because I read what you said five times and it still may as well be Chinese. Anyway, I won't make any further posts on the subject as I feel that my point has been made! But when we get some hot lesbian action on OtakuBoards, I'm banning you for questioning my wisdom and authority on the subject.
  13.
Charles, I think you might just posiibly be reading too far into her name. Let's just assume that you're right tho. Do you really think she'd say it here? Me? If she says she's strait, then she's strait.
Sojiro, 95% of OtakuBoards is in fact, gay. There's no place better to admit it than here--and so far she has not denied the possibility. So, her sexuality is in question. I'm a humble man, Sojiro and I just want to do what I can to help the topic creator from choking on a lolipop of lies. I don't know how many licks it takes to get to the center, but I'm ready to help her start using her tongue. Seriously. Look at it this way--she is having problems getting intimate with her boyfriend. There's nothing obviously wrong with him and her reasons for being distant with him are unclear. It is not a mistake that she has decided to use the anonymity of the Internet as a safety net in her quest to uncover the truth behind this problem. She also has an intense girl-crush going on. I say that instead of discriminating against homosexuals and treating this as a heterosexual problem, we liberate her. After all, it's not like there's anything wrong with being gay. Right?
  14.
But if I was a guy it'd be different, wouldn't it? Why is that? It's ok if your a gay female but a gay male isn't accepted around other males?
We don't just discriminate against gay men; we also discriminate against unattractive women. So, please post a pic so we can decide if you're hot enough to be gay or not. We have to take this one step at a time. Let's face it. Your screen name itself is of Freudian significance. You may have your own supposed inspiration for choosing "lostvoice" but in reality, the name represents your surpressed gay urges--your true voice that has been "lost" in a moral tug-of-war between your religion and the hot chicks you know you crave. Maybe it's time that you listened to this voice that has been lost for so long.
  15.
And guys stop trying to turn her gay...
wtf? No one is trying to "turn" anyone gay. I'm not the gay fairy; I do not have that talent. I simply asked a valid question and the answer I received indicates that lostvoice may be at least slightly sexually confused. And for the record, it doesn't really make any sense to fight your gayness just because of your religion. If your God is any decent, he/she/it will allow gays into Heaven. So, when you turn gay and of age, be sure to post pics.
  16. Maybe you're gay. Perhaps you should try dating some females and see how that works.

    Wii
Well, Wii launched in Australia yesterday and I was there to pick one up. I played it for a few hours last night and I thought I'd provide my general impressions here (especially for those in Australia or Europe who haven't bought one yet).
When you got yours did you cradle it for about five minutes and then rub it up against your face repeatedly? Not that I did that or anything.
  18. The thread's died down and all, but I decided to go in and add an entry on "The Reanimatrix." I also fixed the problem with Nerdsy's entry (sorry about the mistake). If no one else replies, instead of simply bumping the thread, whenever I need to add something I'll simply update the main thread and the date. So, keep a look out for that.
  19. Man, it just keeps getting worse. Fight Night, one of the games that looked to at least get some kind of minor visual enhancements over its 360 counterpart (better sweat, better muscle definiton) also comes with slowdown and PSX-looking crowds. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/blubbernalgas/ps3_fight-night-round-3_1163889686.jpg
  20. The idea that it's best to tell one's parents about something that's going to piss them off once one reaches 18 years of age is really flawed to say the least. I mean, if you're financially independent, it's one thing. If you're still reliant on them, being 18 only means they can legally throw you out.
  21.
It amuses me how quickly people like to see something new get thrown aside. I must say I'm far more eager to get my hands on a PS3 than any of the other consoles. And irrespective of it's price and all that other stuff people have to complain about, Sony have Metal Gear 4 so end of story really. Price is no issue when the console has some of the most stand up games in its arsenal, unlike that crappy Wii and its endless string of cute characters and that stupid remote idea. But as usual, I digress. I'll leave my Wii bashing for another thread.
1) I don't know where you're getting the assumption that people like to see something "new" get thrown aside. Several people here have either a Wii or an Xbox 360. And ironically, the Playstation 3 is hardly something "new" right now when most of its games have been available on the 360 for months now. I will be eager to get my hands on a Playstation 3 once I have a reason to (i.e., once the games don't look worse than their Xbox 360 counterparts, once there's an exclusive worth buying the system for, once the system offers features even remotely close to what Microsoft is offering, etc). 2) Sony doesn't necessarily "have" Metal Gear Solid 4. Most industry insiders predict that the game will be ported to the Xbox 360 as well. Why? Konami seems to like money. 3) The remote idea obviously isn't so "stupid" considering how Sony has tried its best to steal the basic idea. Furthermore, the Wii has outsold the Playstation 3 by a fair margin thus far. 4) The Wii seems to be a media darling, while the Playstation 3 is generally bashed by the media. That is all.
  22.
Then we'd basically be stuck in a perpetual incarnation of OB Idol 2, but with no end and no winner. And frankly, that'd get pretty tiring pretty quick. Perhaps it has only to do with the person put in charge of the event, but traditional events seem to have much more magnitude than ones moderated by members. It just wouldn't be the same.
The difference between members and moderators is a title. If an event sucks, the Event Master should just have final say in not letting it pass.
  23.
Before deciding not to use one of Aaryana's banners, James should consider just how ****ing hilarious it would be if he did. :P
Agreed. We always have conventional holiday banners. That weird-looking dog would be infinitely more entertaining than some whiz-bang technically impressive banner. Aaryanna, I love how the dog is floating there in the second banner. It's so creepy! This holiday season, let Christmas go to the dogs! Or to the black people! But definitely one of them!
  24. There's not much tweaking to be done, honestly. Shy or whoever can be "Event Director" and either pass or void events and then oversee them.
