1. oh, C'mon next you guys'll be telling me that you prefer SQUARE or Konami over the technical wizards over at Acclaim or 989 Studios! Sheesh!
2. Yes, there are indeed two endings. I found the game boring a second time through, so I traded it in for The Olson Twins Game on PSX.

Fatality

I do believe that violent images can effect the behavior of children IF their is no parental guidance. I mean, the Columbine killers had weapons stocked up and intricate plans, yet their parents were too careless to notice. Well, let me rephrase this, and tell me if you agree. I think that with how realistic games look now, that children can become immune to the effects of killing. By playing enough video games depicting grizzly situations, they will not feel as much compassion. (or at least not until it's too late)

It's kind of interesting that not many people seem to have any thoughts on this issue whatsoever. It does effect each of us as gamers, after all. I personally think that violent video games do have a negative impact on children's behavior becuase a lot of parents don't take the time to sit their children down and explain the facts of life to them. Anyway, I think that the V Chip in the Xbox is a good idea. But once again, if the parents don't take the time to utilize it, what good is it?
5. Total revenues for video games topped 7.7 billion dollars last year, eclipsing Hollywood box office receipts for the second year running. As a matter of fact, GameCube's American lauch garnered $100 million dollars, selling higher than Harry Potter's $90 million, in it's opening weekend. As video games have taken their place in American Culture as a mass market form of entertainment, the industry has increasingly been criticized for the sometimes violent antisocial nature of games. Violent video games have received a tremendous amount of press in recent years, especially following the Columbine High School massacre of April 1999, when anowed Doom fans Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold shot and killed 15 people with ruthless efficiency. Although, the Columbine incident certainly served to bring videogame violence to the forefront of national debate, the issue has been a topic of dispute almost since the inception of gaming. As video games today achieve a higher calibur of realism than ever one has to wonder, what effects the detailed depictions of decaption and death have on the people who play them. Recent games like Grand Theft Auto 3, while a blast to play, push the envelope in destructive behavior. Is it just a matter of time now, before a child high jacks a vehicle and starts blowing people away? The releases Mortal Kombat 5 and DOOM 3 will no doubt lend in reigniting, this age-old controversy. Seeing as how this effects anyone in society, and not just gamers, I find myself asking the question: Where do you stand on the issue? Would toned-down video games make you feel safer in public? Some will say it's the parents' fault. Do you think that govenment needs to take the responsibility that so many parents have neglected? So, what
6.
Originally posted by Treble Lol! The code that is always in my mind when i think of a code.Thats from the very first Mortal Kombat game lol.As for cheats I don't use em. :)
Hey, a fellow Kombatant! That's like the only game, I always entered a code for. Funny, how I still remember it after all these years. Oh well, let's party like it's 1699!
7. Here's a code that will help you out my man. At the title screen hit: A, B, A, C, A, B, B Start. This code works for EVERY game. It does. I'm telling the truth really. Ticket to funville here we come!
8. Man, I wish we had snow right now. Then again, they don't cancel class unless, it's so bad that the transit can run. Ah well, I these sixty degree days in November aren't bad.
9. I saw it and it's not really my cup of tea. Boring through and throught mainly because I expected the twisted ending. Kind of like a Sixth Sense knock off.
10. I'm kind of curious as to why people would want this thread deleted. I mean, it shows creativity and humor. If you guys don't like that then please don't disrespect me by out and out asking for it to be abolished. After all, I don't complain about your endless dating games, and your you say a word, i'll say a word stuff. So Shibatku or whatever, you can call my imaginative, humorous work nonsense if you want, but I'm calling your way of thinking ignorant. Anyway, it's good to see that I have some fans at least.
11. This is the same stuff they said to Dr. Seuss. There is no point to it. It's just a lot more creative than your usual "You say a word" thread. As a matter of fact, I should be idolized on my innovative methods.
12. Made you look! The day was far removed from Christmas or New Years Yet this was most certainly the start of a holiday fable Our story begins with old Chris Cringle facing his worst fears He stood before a group of angry elves proudly sporting the union label. "This year we want a raise in pay, or their won't be any toys, no how, now way!" Venomous words filled the room full of greedy little elves Santa exclaimed "Tis only November, Christmas is a good month Away!" Yet they returned merrily, "You meet our demands or empty will be the shelves!" Santa's belly began to shake with jolly and glee "Ho ho ho, screw you guys, I made you what you are today!" The elves ears turned red and on fire went Santa's favorite Christmas tree You're only one, and we're many, we want money, we'll make you pay!" The poor elves had spent their lives in disgrace Living on little money, with no benefits or contracts These merry little men and women lived like a Welfare case Now they threatened Santa, their fists ready to make contacts Santa's eyes were big and his cheeks rosy red like a jar of Smuckers. His belly shook like Jell-O as he declared "I've got many hands you suckers!" Out from behind Santa, came Rudolph and the mafia, determined to make the elves good and dead. Santa handed Rudolph a Benjamin and asked loudly "Now will you make them good and dead?" The elves were none to happy, their deal had fallen through Suddenly their looks of fear turned into smiles of delight "Why should we be scared? Just look at you!" "Without us, you'll be out of a job on Christmas night!" And so with much sadness and grief Rudolph and the Mafia allowed the Elves to strike Sadly, union demands made each meeting brief Every time Santa offered a deal, the elves told him to take a hike. How does this pointless come to a close you ask? One man loved Christmas enough to patch up this holiday quarrel It was Crazy White Boy that took on this task After even more negotiations, Santa handed over the money with a snarl "Yes, no we can afford braces for our little ones!" The elves now celebrated in Glee To which Santa replied, "just make the toys for my Christmas runs!" Thanks to Crazy white boy come December there will be toys under the christmas tree!
13. I just got it yesterday too and I was engrossed with it for hours. That's saying a lot because I rarely sit there in front of a televsion for that long. I for one love the American voice acting. Simply put, it's one of the few dubbed videogames that actually does a comendable job of conveying any sense of belief. I mean, David Hayter is great. This is one of the few games that truly allows the gamer to feel emotion. However, an option to toggle between original Japanese and English would have been a nice touch. Once again, the bosses are second to none, and the character Raiden is a nice addition. Finally, any game that lets you slip on bird droppings screams fantastic. Someone told me though, that it suffers from Devil May Cry syndrome in that it ends in a weak manner. I hope it's not true.
14. I don't know what the big deal about this thread is anyway. I've known what you all look like for months. How? Because I'm watching you through a VERY powerful telescope!!!
15. Needless to say this is aweful news. Your best be would be to go to a church or homeless center. The street is no place for a person. If the other options don't bode well for you, it'd be best to come to terms with your father(if that's possible I don't know. I don't know the exact situation there) or find a relative to stay with.
16.
Originally posted by DeathKnight there is the flaw in your theory.... That was midgar, they didnt rebuild the town after the collison of Meteor and Holy.... Midgar was left ruined afther holy destroyed meteor....
Well, I would think that they would indeed build that city. At one time it was the most prosperous city in the world. You have to consider the artist's direction here. It has to be symbolic that they show Red's species dominant 500 years later. Of course there were birds and other animals, but they served no threat to the earth. The Holy spell served as a means to cleanse the world of all things threatening it. Cloud and the others even acknowledge the fact that they'll probably be canceled out because of humanity's crimes. As far as showing Cloud's corpse, I don't think so. They COULD show some actual people though. Perhaps even his ancestors. But the fact remains that they chose to go 500 years into the future. Why else would they do this, but to show decaying ruins of the human world. If Cloud were to survive, why not go two years into the future where he and Tifa had a family. They could show a happy ending like in FF8. That is not the case, it's all a matter of symbolism my friend.
17. You have to interpret things. The life stream cancelled out, the human species because it was hazardous to the planet. Why do you think Red's species is the only one to occupy the Earth 500 years later. Also, you see decaying ruins and structures, covered in vegetation. Trust me, they died.
18. Yeah, I don't have to use a match book to keep my Game Boy Advance game in and working.
19.
Originally posted by Lady Macaiodh it's absolutely arrogant of us to assume that we are the only life in the universe.
Come now, just a couple hundred years ago, we were the center of the universe, and everything revolved around us. Seriously though, it's not only arrogence it's ignorance. People take the idea of alien existence light heartedly, almost comically. It'll all change someday. It wasn't too long ago, that white people were the only people that mattered.(voting, GWI Bill, Rights, etc.). So, realistically, don't hold your breath in waiting for other life forms to be accepted as reasonable thought.
20.
Originally posted by SaiYaNgUrL ahhhhhh... an ff7 wud be good, but ff8 wud be better ff8 has a better story plot, so i think it wud make a better movie than ff7. spirits within had no plot, which made the movie really strange... ff7 is prolly gonna attract more people cuz everyone noes that ff7 is a good game... but i dun think many peeps wud come out of teh theatres satisfied... so yeah... if they made a good enough story plot for ff7, then i guess it cuz be a good movie.
Hey, they did make a FF8 movie. Just watch about 3 hours worth of Friends.
21.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka I thought that Aeris and Cloud were the perfect couple. And since Aeris died, I thought that Tifa and Cloud would definately move into a relationship...but that didn't happen.
Of course not, they both died. They would have been a couple otherwise.
22. Why pull out my NES or other old systems, when I can just play Game Boy Advance? This system is getting all of the improved classics, improved at that. Plus it's portable and can serve as a controller for Game Cube. Doom and Mario Kart are easily better than their SNES counterparts. Plus, it has Sonic, Mega Man and Wario going for it. What else could you ask for that this little guy isn't going to give you in the long run?
23. I don't think that the concepts of "heaven" or "hell" are meant to be understood by us yet. I don't know about you guys and girls but, the mere thought of existing for eternity is unthinkable. Just picture never ending, living for an eternity. It's almost unphatomable. I believe that the bible in many ways, is a set of rules, instituted early on before real laws were invented to keep us in "check." I do believe that our souls do move on when our bodies cease to function. Why? Well, because we all have to have souls. If you think about it, we're all flesh and bone. Souls are what have to make us unique. One of my theorie is that after we die we, we simply move to a different plane. Kind of like moving from AM to FM. My other theory is that our soul must "mature" until it is in fact, "purified." Earth is hell. We are our own devils. Evil exists in everyone's soul. Once, we die, our sould could merely take a new form, until all negative energy has been cleansed. Once, it has, it will finally achieve it's utopia. Well, that's my take on it anyway.
24. I'm not really impressed with the Dynasty Warriors series as it is now. It's insanely fun until you beat it, in an hours time. I'll probably rent it, love it, and be bored of it in a day.
25. My college is actually surrounded by people who have been defeated by life. Industry fled in the white flight, and now people beg out in the streets. The government actuall holds houses to sell to companies, rather than fixing them up for the people. I see roaming dogs, abandoned. Maybe someday, everyone really will be equal. Until then, I guess there will always be those that are "All Alone."
