1. I download music because I guess I'm human and not a saint in every facet of my life.
  2.
Threads like these are the cancer that is killing OB.
I agree. Fail.

  4. Oh my goodness--with these new sign-ups, we might actually have enough people to....make this work. This thing can possibly happen; I can't believe it. :animenose
  5.
If the joke is as "funny" as the other ones, maybe it's good I can't see it. ;-)
Haha, touche'. I guess a joke is only as good as the material it's based on then. :smirk:
  6.
That's hilarious. The "best" inside joke on OB pertained to me and until now, I hadn't the slightest clue. I think this speaks volumes about the aforementioned poor quality of joke execution at OB.
You were not aware because it is an inside joke in the staff forum. Sucks you can't see it.
  7. Ironically, the best OB inside joke stemmed from when Azurewolf started whining and crying because he couldn't see the OB Staff forum. Anyone remember that? lol It was awesome, indeed. Does anyone remember which thread that was in? Linkage? Edit: Oh wait, here it is! Post forty. http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=45377&page=3
  8. Too bad he's no match for his arch rival, Rosie. Rosie's a powerhouse and her weight advantage would swing the battle in her favor. Plus, I don't think Donald would want to touch her.

  11. I have no shame. I will consider donating for advertisement if we can get new (better) members who will actually play with me though. Even if I have to sell Japan_86 on the streets to do it!
  12. OtakuBoards is always dying from something. Strict rules, inside jokes Gavin and Alex-- the list goes on and on. Join my RPGs if you want to save OB.

  15. Are you ready? We had a lot of fun with this on GS a while back, so I figured I would give it a shot here. This is how it works, I will post an image. The following poster will then post an image that in some way defeats my image and, if necessary, provide a sentence explaining how their picture is defeating mine. And--that's how the game will continue. Each time someone posts, they will post an image that defeats the previous poster's image. Example: I provide a picture of grass, so someone posts a picture of a lawn mower. And please, no nukes, images of "God" or "black holes" or anything like that, heh. Now, I'll start. 16. Based on member feedback on my last attempt at an RPG (which would have been awesome), I'm going to pitch another idea and see how it's received before I bother to undertake the work that's going to be necessary to get it up and running. So, I was thinking about doing an RPG based on Pogs. Yes, that's right. Pogs. Hear me out. The game would focus on the collection of pogs. Everyone would start out with their deck of starter pogs. OtakuBoards would be like a map with territories. Each player would start owning a different territory. Now, I would list different combinations of pogs that members would have to form in order to "take over" a specific section of OtakuBoards. The first to take over OtakuBoards entirely, would win. There would be a number of ways in which members could earn new, rare pogs. Players could trade with one another to expand their decks. Or, perhaps players would have to find pogs based on clues (a la the bomb hunt from FQFG). Oooor, I might provide specific challenges (like make a thread in Otaku Lounge that gets so and so amount of legitimate replies in so and so amount of time). Members could also fuse pogs to come up with more valuable ones---but at the same time risk getting worse pogs. I would keep track of all trades in a main thread. If you don't like the territory idea would could just play for points, or just see who could build the largest collection. What do you think? What DO you think?
  17. It's going pretty well. I think I finally have the funding issue sorted out. I'm going to try to have it up within the next couple days. Hopefully it goes over nicely! :fingers crossed: Edit: Okay, so obviously this thing has went over as well as the Titanic. I would like to use this as either a learning opportunity or an opportunity to try to salvage this game one last time. So-- What about this RPG did you not like? What deterred you from signing up? What could be changed or added to increase your interest in this RPG? Is the premise of the RPG too intimidating for you? Would this be more interesting as a community event? Should I try starting this at another time of the year? Are you too busy to play, currently? I would just like some general member feedback so that I can analyze opinions and try to relaunch this. I just know that it would be awesome if it would just get off the ground. So, I'd like to adjust my game according to member opinions.
  18. Remember that Soul Calibur IV is also going to be on the Xbox 360; it isn't exclusive to PS3. Then again, Eternal Sonata isn't Xbox 360 exclusive either. As far as the topic goes, I won't list every system I have stashed away. Rather, I'll list the ones I am currently playing. Hooked up to my television, I have the Xbox 360, Playstation 2 and the Wii. As far as handhelds go, I have my Nintendo DS lying around somewhere. I'll probably get a PS3 when it drops to $300 or below, if I even bother at all. I've always been a big fan of the Sony consoles, but I can't find reason enough to convince myself to pick a PS3 up yet.

    Halo 3

I'm surprised with just how good the visuals in this game are. Basically, a bunch of subtle elements work together well enough to make Halo 3 just as astounding as Bioshock and Gears of War--just in different ways. The lighting engine and colors, in particular, are what gives Halo 3 a very distinctive "mood." For example, some levels look very saturated and washed out, while others look extremely lush. Little touches, like the way your character's eyes adjust to the light, add to the experience. The overall art direction is better than its peers--probably superior to Bioshock's simply because Bioshock had a very "plastic" look to it. A lot of people are heavily criticizing the visuals--going as far as to call the game "Halo 2 HD" but they obviously haven't played the game. Currently I prefer the visuals over what I've seen of Killzone 2--simply because Killzone 2 looks so drab and gray. I'm with James in the sense that I have always felt that the Halo series has been somewhat overhyped--at least in terms of basic mechanics. Over a period of intermittenly suffering through the first Halo's singleplayer, I finished it--but could not bring myself to finish the Halo 2's campaign. However, as of today I have already finished Halo 3's singleplayer. The key differences this time around are the pacing and level design, I think. The best shooters, I find, tend to move the player from one well-designed room, to the next, while applying a different level of strategy in each one. The Halo games features some great basics--like some of the best AI in the genre, the recovering health meter, and vehicles--but the way it was all structured was poor, to say the least. Like Gears of War, Halo 3, on the other hand, almost asks the player to solve a puzzle each time they progress to a new checkpoint. On the higher difficulties, I found myself modifying my strategies and approaching each room in a variety of ways until I found the best method of progression. Although it could be argued that the other Halo games were structured similarly, the difference here is that the shooting was not made cumbersome by endless repeating corridors or needless backtracking. Furthermore, the vehciles were varied enough to break up the standard action in the way that they were meant to. Bungie has finally made a very open-ended shooter that actually works on an epic scale and the first "great" Halo is the result. I haven't played much online yet, but the ability to veto maps, remain with people you've played with, and the overall customization/sharing, really helps this one live up to the hype. Definitely more feature-rich than I was expecting.
  20.
And if you want to die so be it, your just giving in to the addiction. But you'll regret it someday. And when that time comes you'll be saying "I wish I haden't have done that." so don't complain if it's killing you, because you brought it upon yourself. And if not, well good luck having a crappy life.
I don't think anyone has a choice about dying. Everyone's going to die from something at some point. I don't smoke and I could end up getting hit by a bus tomorrow for all I know. If people worried about what was bad for them all the time and became afraid to live their lives how they wanted to, then they would also be having a "crappy life." What I'm trying to say is, that smoking is a personal choice and as long as I don't have to be around a copious amount of the stuff in an enclosed area, or have the smell stick to my clothes, then whatever. Not my business. Also, based on observation, I don't see how cigarettes aren't a social thing. Just like alcohol, they very much can be.
  21.
Or maybe you're a lesbian after all (well, you never know!).
Lesbian? What? Where? Suddenly my interest in this thread has peaked.
  22. Yeah, I'll be giving the motivational thread a shot. Also, I like your sign up because honestly, this thing doesn't have to be oh-so-serious politics. It's just a shame that more people don't "get it."
  23.
I was about to say... This thread would be rather boring without banter.
Agreed. I'm sorry if the thread came off as a place where people simply introduced themselves and no one could say anything back. This thread wouldn't be very welcoming if no one could say anything, hehe. So, we're going to be very relaxed in here. Like, if a new member mentions a band they like, then I don't see why someone who likes the same band can't welcome them and talk about it here. I also like that we're seeing people who haven't posted in a while re-introducing themselves. That's a great use for this thread as well (I thought it was cool seeing Lost Prophet post). Also if current members want to introduce themselves to new members then that'd be pretty cool. However you want to welcome 'em. Except for nude pics. Unless you're female and over 18. Just joking. But seriously.
  24. Hey, I just want to make a note here. It's perfecty fine for, you know, OtakuBoards members to welcome and converse with new members in here. Honestly, I don't know if I made that clear enough in the opening post, so that's my fault.
  25.
Does it really have to be an animal? I mean, the symbol of the party? I know you Americans have your donkeys and elephants for some reason, but parties in European countries tend to use more abstract symbols in their logos. Stylished flowers are popular, but so are globes, people and mere letters as well. So... does it matter if the symbol isn't an animal?
Haha, nah, that's a good point. It doesn't have to be an animal. I guess I'm just trained to think a certain way in these things, heh. Edit: Come on now. What the hell. You morons let something good, like Project Gamer 2 never get off the ground, but now this? This is too good of an idea to pass up. This game has too much potential to simply be left to languish here. Get off of your lazy asses and sign up for my RPG so that we can all have fun or I'm going on a banning spree. :animesigh This idea is unique; it would be a shame if we didn't at least give it a try. One thing I don't understand about OtakuBoards is how apathetic and lazy the user base can be. God damn it. What is wrong with you people?
