Anyways, you're not gonna change the minds of most of the people on here, so I would give up trying and contact the authorities. Kidnappings are too serious to just fart away like you are, even attempted and failed ones.
Why would they believe him when he can't even convince many of you that he's telling the truth? If he and his friends go to the police with this story, without any kind of physical descriptions--I don't think there will be much of a point. Personally, I think someone was pranked on--and his name rhymes with JuliasBeach. That observation is based on his unwillingness to treat this matter seriously and the odd behavior of everyone else involved in the incident.
Sorry I should have taken this a bit more seriously but it's in my nature to joke. Thanks to all that posted. Peace Love Dope Miquel Anthony Cremeans
Yeah, same here. Really, as I said, I hope I didn't come off the wrong way. I wasn't trying to scold you or anything. Your proposal is cool. I just didn't want to make it seem like I, personally, was just saying "WTF" and disagreeing with it for no good reason. I think the main problem in relation to the idea itself, is that the joke is pretty close to the reality of the nature of chats.
Despite me being so close of flaming you out of Otakuboards, I'll say this. You have learned your leason, you have logged back on to Otakuboards, the only thing that can be avoided is.... USE YOUR COOKIES! That is all.
Please use some common sense, G/S/B Master. What's up with that sarcastic tone? You know better than that. If you're not going to offer friendly insight then simply don't reply. People seem to develop this idea that being a long-term member automatically makes them exept from our most basic behavioral guidelines. They're not flexible; they apply to everyone. Keep that in mind for future reference.
I would allow a person flame another person 3xs. Then at the 4th time, I kick them off with a 24 hour ban. Plus flame you in the "reason why you got banned" slot :).[/SIZE']

The chat room was fun though. Every night, I see a game bot online and people spamming the commands to the game bot like, Dumbass: /8ball Will kittana ever date me? Game bot: No, you will marry a drunk homosexual redneck. Great times :).
Along with the first post itself, I think these are good examples of why we shouldn't have a chat room associated with any of the sites again. Although the concept of a chat room is good, I gather that the main problem lies in maintaining the quality environment we strive for on the forums--just as Warlock pointed out. A real-time chat would be nearly impossible to manage efficiently at all times. If you're looking for inebriated silliness, it's just as easy to create the aforementioned AIM chats. At least that route allows you to participate with a select group of friends you're familiar with. Which, of course, yields a more enjoyable atmosphere. My general point is this: Why waste massive effort providing something that will surely conflict with the standards of the site when there are other mediums out there that can suit the desired purpose more effectively? I'm sorry if I sounded overly negative about it Merlin Matrix, but you didn't exactly present this idea in an endearing way. I realize you were probably joking, but the reality of your comment really exemplified the problem of providing a chat service--and you offered no support for your suggestion to convince any reasonable person that it could improve the community. A bunch of random nonsense with no value to it won't exactly make the site more interesting... Again, I hope I don't discourage you by coming off too strongly. As a senior member here, I like to see suggestions from members. So, yeah, those are my own opinions regarding the matter.
If you want to include that style... pretty much every RPG on the PC for the last two decades has also allowed you to go your own route. Of course, there are consequences for evil actions heh.
No doubt. Baldur's Gate 2 is a really good example--and it's quite old. I can only assume he's referring strictly to consoles though, bearing the forum and all.

This is an interesting premise CB Kyra and it's nice to see members attempting lighthearted discussions. But, at the same time, this topic is obviously pointless. Evidence of this rests in the fact that we once had to prohibit similar discussions in our former DragonBall Z forum and the poor trend of lackluster discussion within this thread itself. It?s simply because there?s little to substantiate a crush on a fictitious character that makes for reasonable talk.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is another good one. Throughout the game, you're given a multitude of opportunities to make antagonistic decisions. Eventually, your character's appearance will reflect your wicked tendencies. The differences between the light and dark sides aren't purely aesthetic either. If you've chosen to follow the dark path, the abilities that accompany it, such as force choke, won't cost as many experience points, whereas abilities such as "heal" will cost more. Furthermore, there are distinct endings you can receive, depending on which side you're aligned with. The Grand Theft Auto series, which I'm sure you're familiar with, is another obvious example. The upcoming Fable, too, alllows you to play as a badguy. It's a prominent feature.
"Now who the hell gave them my AIM name?"
Anyways, if you don't want strangers messaging you, it's always possible to only allow those on your buddy list to contact you. But yes, I've not been blessed with anything like this for a while, outside of emails, of course. So, sadly I don't have a humorous excerpt to contribute. Other than that, I can only echo what Harry said.
I immediately block anyone who sends me that crap.

Shouldn't this be in the anime lounge?
Yes, but Dagger and Queen Asuka haven't done anything to make me hate them so I won't bother leaving it open. I have several problems with this thread--let me count the ways. To begin, I approve of Mimi encouraging members to elaborate on their choices. Yet, on the other hand, she didn't provide anything in the way of her own explanation. Frankly, this just comes off as an excuse to make a quick, cliché post. I'm not trying to be harsh, it's just what I see. To make matters worse, the quality of discussion that's followed hasn't exactly knocked my socks off either. There are so many random colors and smilies going around that reading through the posts make me feel like I'm tripping out on acid. Most of the posts are conspicuous by their brevity and overall lack of effort too.

Congratulations. Because the main index has a "Today's Birthday" section, I believe it's more practical for members to observe that and private message you with their best wishes (well, once you meet more people here). Otherwise, we would have a plethora of birthday-related threads due to the numerous simultaneous birthdays this site has on a daily basis. Anyway, happy birthday! Have fun.

I'm into punching people in the face for needlessly correcting my grammar or spelling--unless it's for an important function like something school-related. If I'm just chilling and someone has to make it a point to needlessly correct me, I take it as pettiness. I'm not taking a sly jab at anyone in this thread--so I hope no one gets offended. I was merely reminded of it by reading through the discussion. I'm also interested in exercising, of course. That's very enjoyable for me. I saw a picture of myself from about a year ago and I was astounded by the difference. Some people find working out rather boring and tedious, but it's completely recreational for me. Playing video games is also nice--although I haven't been playing them a lot for quite some time. I've only completed two games from start to finish in the last year--and they were both fairly short. At this time, I don't plan on picking any more up until August or September. Creative writing can be fun too if I'm in the mood. There's nothing more satisfying than finishing one of my little projects. The responses are usually gratifying too. Females are also good--although I?m not obsessed with hooking up or anything. It?s actually quite the opposite for the time being.

I will also hug you, newbie. :mechanical hug: No, I'm just playing. Really. :D Welcome to OtakuBoards, haruka-san. Don't worry about accidentally breaking the rule. Oodles of people make the very same mistake. What's important is that you actually took notice of the rule on your own and displayed an interest in following it. That kind of quality in a member seems rare when people accidentally post an introduction topic. So, your understanding of the matter is greatly appreciated. I know I won't be getting a private message calling me a monster for closing it. heh I look forward to seeing your posts; I'm sure everyone will get to know more about you through those means. I'll leave this thread visible just so you know that no one's angry at you. :) Have fun! Nehszriah seems a bit suspect though with the advertising. :glares in that direction: At least he didn't put the link in his post though. lol
Chronicles of Riddick is[/i'] the prequel to Pitch Black, so if you want your history reverting to the main feats of COR you'd be better off watching Pitch Black first. Also, there's a sequel to Pitch Black that's to be released soon, but I forgot it's name... don't worry it will come back tot me, I'll just edit this post when it does, heh.
No, that's incorrect. Pitch Black precedes Chronicles of Riddick. The fact that this is a sequel is evident in how Kyra has aged since Pitch Black
(she was originally the young girl who masqueraded as a boy).
The only true prequel to Pitch Black is the Xbox video game. The other film you're referring to, is an anime entitled "Dark Fury" that links the two films. I can understand your mistake relating to the ordering of these movies. Because of these various COR installments being released nearly simultaneously, the timeline can become easily confused. So, I know where you're coming from.

I've been a casual fan of the series since its inception. So, while I'm not a diehard with white-knuckle skills--I'll be glad to play online against you guys with the adapter. I'm not terribly excited about GT Photo Mode and all that it entails. I probably won't be interested in sharing any doctored captures. But, the possibility of exchanging cars would hold a lot of potential. If we're talking about past experiences, Grand Turismo 2 remains my favorite in the series up to this point. I think it was more than the natural evolution everyone was expecting. The original was way ahead of its time, but the sequel managed to trounce it in every conceivable way by offering much more than what was imaginably possible on a Playstation. It was a veritable blueprint for future attempts at the genre. It had great physics, a cache of vastly differing vehicles, a solid simulation mode, and a rally mode that could stand on its own. I never thought the visuals were as jaw-dropping as critics hyped them up to be (personally I found the NFS series more attractive). But considering how much the product was packing under its belt--it was quite impressive at the time. GT3 A-Spec just seemed like a glorified update meant for demonstrating the capabilities of the Playstation 2 hardware. Don?t get me wrong--it was a fine game in many ways and technically it did what it set out to do by setting the bar for genre in this generation of consoles. I just didn?t find it as groundbreaking as the previous two.

You brought back the other LoTR discussion, so it baffles me as to why you then decided to create another one. Your opinions are nice, but let's try to keep repetitious threads on the first page to a bare minimum (as in none).

My childhood memories would probably make the writers of The Wonder Years blush. I remember when my brother and I were fairly young; I was probably in the first grade. My mother used to baby-sit one of my friends so we'd spend the day there and hang out watching He-Man and playing. But, her brother was a typical big brother figure who teased all of us. It was nothing bad, per se, he was just playing his role. Well, it just so happened, that my brother somehow pissed all over me--and he happened to see it. Now, I don't know why my brother did this, but it wasn't the first time. I probably had just really bad luck--I don't think he was purposely aiming at me. But anyway, as I said, her brother saw it and started laughing hysterically--as almost anyone would under these circumstances. I looked ridiculous sitting there crying, dripping with urine. Obviously though, I wasn't happy about the situation--I was pissed (pun intended). So, I did what naturally came to mind. I grabbed a large handful of dirt with dog droppings in it and shoved it directly into his gaping mouth. I sure had some running to do after that ordeal. :D Even prior to this, when I was especially young, I was in the back yard playing, when a stick got caught on my untied shoelace. As I was running around the yard, I saw it following me, but didn't realize it was attached to my shoes. So, logically, I thought it was a monster. I cried and ran around frantically until one of the adults "rescued" me. lol Lastly, I remember that one of the first sitcoms I ever watched was The Jeffersons. So, when I went into public, if I saw a black person I would say "Look , mommy it's a George!" Man was she ever embarrassed. :wigout:

What do you find attractive? [Threads merged]
Charles replied to MaxSonic's topic in General Discussion
As cliché as it may seem, I believe in the phrase "love is blind." At least to an extent. Now, I know we're talking about superficial criteria here that's not necessarily intended to reflect an emotional response as strong as love. But, even still, that ideology can be applied here loosely. I don' think it's possible to put together an accurate shopping list that automatically makes someone appealing to me. Like, I don't scan anyone for those things. I won't get preachy and pretend that physical appearance doesn't matter at all or that there aren't certain features I prefer. Obviously, if I don't find someone visually appealing at all, then that's that. There can't be a real chemistry. On the other hand, it's entirely possible for someone to possess many beautiful qualities and nevertheless remain unattractive to me. So, above all else, I'd always be attracted to individuals who can carry their looks well. Basically, I look for that spark that indicates someone is a beautiful person--above just being beautiful physically. If I can't be friends with someone, then why would I want to be anything more? So, there's kind of an unspoken attraction I'd have to feel that's hard to explain. I couldn't care less about religion or hair color or most anything else of trivial value I see on some of these lists although I could see how those things could be important to people. -
This is a really bizarre thread. Nevertheless, you can contact the owner of the site at this email address:
But I don't see the corny nature of the whole ordeal or the lame dialogue, though that may just be me, I don't know. I still like it just as much, I just wont be brought to tears again, heh.
"You're the red in her paintings." ;)

Gaming What GBA game would you recommend for someone who plays RPGs?
Charles replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
Don't get Dragon Warrior III. It's targeted to a very specific audience. It's hardcore dungeon crawling and combat. Unless he's a veteran of this niche, the experience will be akin to a child attempting to run before it can walk. Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga or any of the Zelda GameBoy titles would be a step in the right direction though. They're easy to pick up and play; their wonderful learning curves cater to any audience. These are the safest purchases. -
Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer can be a great actors when placed in the right pictures, and I think they played their parts effectively. Their respective abilities are the primary reason I enjoyed the film at all. The only reason this movie is capable of making people cry, is because it practically uses a siphon hose to suck the tears from you. There's no denying it, no one cried because this film was written extremely well or because it was legitimately impactful. No--the movie took the easy way out by using a cute kid and retardation to appeal to viewers' emotions. The first time anyone sees this movie, they're likely to be moved and think it's wonderful but upon seeing it again, it becomes easy to see past the cheap tricks and notice the lame dialogue and overall corny nature of the whole ordeal.
-
These latest ones are all right. I'm not sure if I like them as much as the last ones though. It's getting kind of confusing and chaotic. These are still enjoyable to read and look over but I think you'd benefit from having animated gifs where the dialogue appears over each character instead.

Despite being unhappy with the OXM demo disc, I've had this game on reserve for quite a long time and picked it up when upon release. I first heard about Riddick when Game Informer broke the story on it back in February and was immediately excited because of the potential it showed. On the other hand, I was skeptical because it's a movie licensed game starring Vin Diesel from an unproven developer. I couldn't be happier with the end product though. The design of COR is simply unparalleled in a few key aspects. The layout of Butcher Bay for example, is wonderful; it's just so structurally perfect that you feel like you're navigating through a real prison environment. Each room feels as if it's been designed so carefully that it feels unique. Because the setting is a prison, I expected the environment to repeat itself with recycled textures but that's not the case at all. There are interconnecting vents and ways to use shadow that force you to go into every area with the mentality that you're going to have to use your surroundings to survive. Which brings me to my next point--the stealth mechanic is executed exceedingly well. It never feels like a gimmick--it's just something you do, it's natural. So many games place a huge emphasis on stealth but despite their efforts, it feels manufactured or cheap. Not so here. Unlike games like Splinter Cell, you're never able to feel too secure in hiding because the guards actually shine flashlights on you and scour the rooms quite well. Due to the lack of the luxury of over-powered weaponry for much of the adventure, you can't always go at them with guns blazing. The quality continues into the presentation of the product. Excluding some low resolution textures and jaggies, the visuals are gorgeous. As I said, there's great variety in Riddick's world. The character models are impressive in their own right. They look as good, technically, as the fighters in Tao Feng. So, normal mapping allowed Starbreeze to accomplish quite a bit visually while maintaining a solid frame rate. The sound is impressive because I'm not annoyed by Vin Diesel. His voice acting adds a lot to the atmosphere as do the sound effects echoing throughout the prison. You can eavesdrop on the discourse of prisoners, hear dripping water, and tons of small details. You can't help but to appreciate the game's score also. I won't go on any longer; I'm not sure how many of you are interested. Initially, I'd only suggest a rental. There's no multiplayer mode and the game lasts around ten hours. But, I think it has a ton of replay and is overall one of the more unique titles I've played. Definitely the best movie-licensed game since Goldeneye.
