The most disgusting thing I've seen is somewhat broad--the passiveness of society, in general. Because we live in a Gesellshcaft society, many people perceive one another as strangers that have very little in common. So, bonds are highly impersonal. It's just that...self interest dominates and so little consensus exists regarding values. I recall seeing a story on the news about a woman who was attacked by an abusive man, probably a jilted lover or something. Hundreds of people heard her screaming. After all, she was attacked on busy streets. He stabbed her multiple times and left her lying helplessly. An hour later, he returned and finished her off. An hour later. Isn't that something? The fact that no one lifted a finger frightens me--and disgusts me.

Welcome back, mister. I'm very happy that you've returned. Everyone was wondering what happened to you. But, I'm afraid that we do not allow introduction threads. And--this is related to one. Have fun though--and I love the line in your signature.

My experiences with strangers, since I've begun attending a university in a city, aren't too great. Usually, when I leave the campus, others approach me with good manners and act like they're interested in starting a conversation, but in reality, they're only trying to hustle me for money. I become really disappointed when that happens; it bothers me. So, unfortunately, I can't say that I have many surprising experiences where I learn that I "can't judge a book by its cover." Most strangers who are genuinely interested in speaking to me look presentable.

#
Originally posted by Schratn9 well I dont know If any of you heard but starting at bad blood The PPV's are going to be split down the middle, 4 raw ppv's, 4 SD ppv's, and 4 for both. So its a great shot for some mid to lower card wrestlers to build up feuds and get PPV matches.
I posted about that a little while back. ~_^ I don't like the idea one bit. I will not order the split promotion pay per views unless they're relatively cheap. Because they're half a roster they should be half the price. After all, we're only getting half of what we would see from a joint promotion pay per view. The main event this year will probably be The Rock/Austin match. Hogan and McMahon will most likely come directly before that. Speaking of which, the marketing blitz is incredible. The WWE did an awesome job promoting the match. The celebrity "interviews" were great. It's really being built up as a spectacle. Last year's main event was Triple H/Chris Jericho. Which, of course, was because of tradition. Typically, world title bouts are important at Wrestlemania. But, following tradition was a huge mistake. People were actually walking out during the match. And now--I will post the official Otakuboards Wrestlemania odds for your enjoyment. lol.
Originally posted by Syk3 I'm just going to say...you're going to be a little angry when you actually talk with the guy. Geeze, but it shows just how much there is to do in this game.
I was really irritated. There are similar situations to this that arise elsewhere.
For instance, once you finish the Deku dungeon, you can find withering Deku sprouts. I found one and was told that I simply had to water it with the Forest Haven water. I did just that. But, once I completed the task--I receieved nothing for my trouble except for instructions to water seven more. Joy. lol.
On the bright side, I finally got around to playing the Battleship-inspired mini game that Semjaza and Ginny were talking about. It took me about three tries to complete it successfully. I love how the clerk holds the cardboard cutouts up to his face. Especially when you win. It's hilarious. And, you know, that's what I like about this game. It never takes itself too seriously; I can have fun doing the most menial of things. Tossing letters into the aforementioned mailbox was particularly fun. Or--hurling that poor girl into a wall repeatedly. Some of you know what I'm talking about. ;) On the downside, the dungeons aren't especially fantastic. Don't get me wrong; they're a blast. The puzzles aren't especially difficult, but most have a clever twist that keeps them fresh. The game really makes the most of your inventory. You find yourself using the same items repeatedly, but you utilize 'em in such different and creative ways that it's fun. Truly innovative. Plus, the dungeons all look incredible. I was telling Tony and a few others that this is the best-looking game I've ever played. The lighting and particle effects of each dungeon are tremendous. Whether you're watching bulbs of light float around in thickets of grass, or facing down torrents of wind carrying hot ash, each area has a distinctive touch that makes it special. But, I suspect that they won't be very interesting to play through multiple times. Furthermore, the bosses, while massive, are patterned very simply. They're no sweat to tackle. Man, I'm loving everything else though. I don't care that some of the tunes are recycled and MIDI. Most sound wonderful--and sometimes they're pretty touching. Cool stuff. As for Greg's question--I'm not sure how this ranks up with OOT yet. When that game released, it too, was revolutionary. I mean, it was a seamless transition into 3D for the Zelda series. So, that leap had to be the toughest to make. The fact that games are still trying to replicate the targeting system speaks volumes. So far, Wind Waker is a gorgeous evolution of the series and one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played, but I don't know that it surpasses OOT. I'll have to complete the game before I decide.

What a time! Sheesh. :drunk: It sounded like you were exposed to a lot. I'm looking forward to hearing about your other experiences. The soccer riots in Saunta Paulo sound particularly interesting. -
Oh gosh, I'm a big fan of Cena. His mic skills are incredible. It's excellent that the WWE is finally taking advantage of his gift. Speaking of Cena, here is an interesting Wrestlemania spoiler that you guys might find interesting:
"In an attraction that has just been added to the WWE's Wrestlemania XIX on Sunday, Brooklyn, New York's Fabolous will square off against 240-pound Boston wrestler John Cena. Fab hasn't gone totally crazy ? he won't be fighting in the ring. Instead, the platinum MC will be defending the honor of hip-hop. He accepted Cena's open challenge for a rap-off."
Moving on, I hope that Rob Van Dam and Kane do not win the tag team titles--and I highly doubt they will. They are both strong, stand-alone singles competitors. The WWE won't be able to keep them together for long. With the impending return of Kevin Nash and rumors that he will be forming a tag team with Shawn Micheals, I would assume that the Raw side will stick with heel champions until Nash and Micheals are ready for a run. I suspect that Dudley Boy interference is very likely in the Raw tag title match. I also don't see Matt Hardy losing the cruiserweight title yet. The WWE is using him to boost the credibility of the division, much as it did when Triple H and Kane were given Intercontinental title runs a couple years ago. I could be wrong, but I think that the Hardy/Mysterio feud will be carried out to Backlash. We'll see. Lastly, here is another interesting spoiler, this time concerning the Lesnar/Angle match.
The recently returned Slam! Wrestling website is reporting a possible spoiler outcome for Sunday's WrestleMania XIX WWE championship match between Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle. Apparently, there's a possibility of Team Angle turning on Kurt at the end of the show to explain his injury absence that will follow. Lesnar will likely make the save, and Kurt Angle will walk away from Safeco Field as a babyface.
The first two stages of the fight are fairly simple and straightforward--especially with Auron's armor break (which will be particularly useful in the second stage). After you use that technique, get him out of there and make sure that Lulu or Yuna are in. Cast whichever haste spell you have on your characters and use Lulu's Double Cast. I forget which spell is more effective: Flare or Ultima. So, you might want to experiment with those two. If you would prefer, you may rely on aeons, but I like to save 'em Remember that ship positioning is key. Watch Sin's attacks and time accordingly. The final version of Sin inflicts a lot of status effects, like petrification and confusion. Make sure you have armor to accommodate that. This would be a particularly good time to use aeons, spells, and overdrive techniques. You want to finish this form off quickly because, as I remember it, he has a really nasty spell attack.

Find out more? Sure, if you're not repulsed by the bizarreness of it all. lol I was actually toying around with the "666" idea. But, I didn't know whether I was going to have to read this aloud or not. I get easily embarrassed when I read my stuff in that class because for some reason or another, most of the students in there are overly preppy. So, I didn't want to overdo the Satanic angle too much. They might have automatically overlooked everything else and gotten on my case about being cliche or something.

Hmm, I should use this opportunity to add that I've come up with a new system for name changes. It won't be carried out in exactly the same format as it was before. Look for an announcement regarding name changes in the near future.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I'm going to clean my room before I play Zelda... In progressive scan
:flaming: Did it have to be in both bold and italics? :sigh: Oh well, I have better sound. :p Anyway, I'm now in the third dungeon.
I was a little surprised to see The Great Deku Tree alive again. I thought he had perished or something. Unless he came back to life at the end of OOT. I can't remember. It's been years.
I don't really think the game plays like an interactive movie. It may look like an animated film, but it's plays very similarly to OOT. Well, except for the toned down difficulty. I'm having no trouble making my way through this one. And, I miss Epona. I'm having a blast though, sometimes doing absolutely nothing. Exploring the sea is a little fun--if not slightly limited right now, since the early part of the game has you on a set path.

Heh, yeah, I got a kick out of the pigs. Surprisingly, pigs are pretty good swimmers/floaters. I felt sorry for the little guy though, so I rescued him. But, my compassion quickly ended once I got the sword. Sadly, he ran away after I hacked him once. So, hopefully, I'll be able to corner one of 'em and abuse it so that I can find out if they swarm you like the chickens did in OOT. The thought of rabid pigs mugging Link amuses me for some reason. Oh, and after progressing a bit further, I'd like to add that this is probably the best looking game I've ever played. Some of the particle effects, like ashes blowing through and air are amazing. And, don't even get me started on the lighting effects.

I highly doubt that it will save the genre in the US market. Most publications are barely even covering the game. Game Informer, for instance, regulated it to about an inch of print space. The Guilty Gear series is basically dedicated to a cult following. You won't be see a lot of marketing glitz for it--or any, for that matter. lol It's a shame, really, because Guilty Gear X2 is probably far superior to over hyped 3-D fighters, like Tekken 4 or Tao Feng. Guilty Gear is basically a glimpse at what 2-D gaming could be if the proper effort was placed in the genre. I'd give my right arm for a Castlevania that looks like GGX2. But, anyway, Treble--I was talking about the longer scene in the gallery. I liked how the characters were introduced, as well. The series has always had interesting character design, but little in character depth. The cinematics, in conjunction with story mode, really help bring the characters to life. Sol Badguy is probably my favorite character. I admit that he's a cheap beginners' character, but I like the personality and look of him. He's got that "cool" image going.

There is already a thread related to this subject, where members may provide their support or disapproval of the idea. We don't need a new thread with a poll to reflect public opinion. But, judging from the lack of support the other thread has received thus far, and the lack of an apparent Magic: The Gathering following on OtakuBoards, there is little chance of seeing the forum come into fruition. A single MTG topic would probably suffice.

I agree with you, GOS. The Undertaker has always been a huge attraction at Wrestlemania due to his unbeaten streak, in particular. I'm not a fan of the 'Taker's slow motion wrestling or bad habit of not selling moves, but I was looking forward to a big singles match for him. If the WWE had booked him against Nathan Jones and had 'Taker gave Jones the rub, it would have really given the kid a notch on his belt and a wonderful start with the company. Instead, we're forced to see a pretty excellent card become marred by A-Train and The Big Show. I can only hope that the match will be kept short and painless. But, enough ranting on my part. Just to entertain you guys, I'll post my prediction for the big five. You guys, feel free to comment on mine or make your own. It could be fun. Jericho will go over HBK because there's no point in Micheals winning the match. I really see it Micheals' role as sticking around to put over the younger talent--much like Hogan did after his nostalgia run with the title. Hulk Hogan will go over Vince McMahon because I honestly don't see Hogan retiring this way. Perhaps he'll win and then retire. I know that due to back problems this will probably be his last match, but I'd like to think that he would go out on a high note. Brock Lesnar will go over Kurt Angle because, as we all know, Angle has a broken neck and will possibly retire following this match (or take a year's absence at the minimum). There is a possibility that Kurt will win, but I think he'll do the right thing and put Lesnar over. I want Kurt to win though, lol. Triple H will go over Booker T. Prior to tonight, I would have said otherwise. But, after Booker T pinned Triple H cleanly for the third time in a tag match tonight, I have my reservations about him going over Trips at 'mania. It's quite possible, but I'm making this prediction off of gut instinct. I could easily see Triple H winning and going onto Backlash to drop the belt to Booker. Then again, I could just as easily see Booker winning and going on to Backlash to face The Rock. This prediction is very "iffy." The Rock will go over "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. This prediction is very "iffy" as well. On one hand, The Rock will be going back to Hollywood following the Backlash pay per view. So, one would assume that he's being used to put over Austin's return before leaving. On the other, one must take into consideration the emphasis the WWE is putting on The Rock never defeating Austin at a 'mania and the possible interference of Bill Goldberg. Also, it's rumored that The Rock will face Booker T if he defeats Triple H. So, one would believe that The Rock would be put over in a buildup for that. So, there you have it. Usually I'm very good at predicting the outcomes of WWE matches because I'm able to pick up patterns in the programming (having been watching it for so long). But, this card is put together pretty well and is highly unpredictable. I don't know if my guesses are too accurate. Perhaps Goldberg will cost The Rock his match with Austin and we'll finally get to see the highly anticipated Goldber/Rock match at Backlash. The question here isn't "Who's Next?" It's "Who knows?" :therock:

Mine came in about four hours ago. Cripes, was the line long. I got there before it became too unbearable though. And to its credit, the store handled the situation much better than they did with Vice City. They actually had more than one cashier. It's a good thing I reserved the game when I did, because there were so many pre-orders that Gamestop has two reserve lists. I'm not sure how long I would have had to wait if I was placed on the second. I squeezed in a little play time during commercials when wrestling was on, and played a little longer after it went off. So, I can't comment in-depth, or tell anyone anything they're unaware of, but I've had a blast so far. The game begins with a really cool story book introduction with a nice rendition of the Zelda theme playing in the background. It details the basic plot of the story, as many of you know it--telling of how a legendary hero called "The Hero of Time" [Link] rose to defeat evil in the past. But, when Ganon returned, a new Link failed to rise and Hyrule vanished. And, it goes on to say that the wind carried the legend to other islands, and now it is tradition for boys to dress in green garb and train their swordsmanship abilities in honor of the great Master of Time. Neat stuff. When you begin, Link is wearing normal clothing and has messy hair. There isn't much to do on the outset except for learning the basic controls and battle mechanics. It's not too boring and doesn't seemed forced. I just had fun hunting pigs down (I even threw one in the ocean) and chopping away at grass. As of now, I've only completed a quasi mission that involves a few stealth elements like sneaking around in barrels and shimmying across ledges. I liked the freedom you have to go about completing the area.
When you lose your sword, for instance and are forced to confront an enemy, you have the option of using your shield to deflect his attack, disarm him, and steal his staff, or you can do a little searching and find a vase full of staffs.
It's nothing amazing, but it's cool nonetheless. I've only just acquired the sail, so I'm not able to comment on the sailing portion of the game. Hopefully, I'll be able to play a little more tomorrow. But, by then some of you guys will have rocketed by me. :D Anyway, what I've seen so far has lived up to my expectations. The combat, in particular, is very well done and a notable improvement over OOT. But, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Heh I guess I should add that I dig the gold disc, but preferred the concept design for the box over the final. It looks almost exactly like past Zelda packaging save for a faint image of Link. It's nice for a nostalgia kick though.

Well, I've completed the scene. I still feel that I should go back and cut down some of my sentences and their complexity, as per your suggestions. As it stands, it seems as if I've actually lengthened some though. lol Overall, I feel that it works nicely, however. I did attempt to improve the rough transitions of my unfinished version. Was I successful? Be sure to let me know. Of course, I very much appreciated how the siren typo was pointed out. Much thanks for that. And, be sure to let me know whether I've unwittingly transformed this into "Purple Prose" or not, Lady A. ~_^ It's a day by the window, a day free of the grinning, bone-colored walls. A day free of huddling in the corner with his knees tucked into the crevice of his chest cavity. Patient 13 rubs his eyes, and pours a handful of random blue pills into his gullet, washing them down with black coffee. He tries to ignore the biting headache he?s gotten from overworking his eyes. He's been staring out onto the naked expanse of the courtyard for three hours. Grimacing at the pounding fist of pain in his temples, he chews the pills into a pale paste and swallows. Cotton candy clouds and a sprawling playground of grass dotted with dandelions and frolicking dragonflies seem threatening; they're too boring. It's like watching a silent movie, the story of his life. He wants to take their serenity and smash it into pieces. But, the sunlight feels good on his face. It's much better than the faint glow of the low wattage light bulb that keeps him company in his room. It's so warm--it takes him away. Flames light up an entire block. He's back in the San Fernando Valley. The fire rises high into the night sky, engulfing what was once a picturesque Victorian mansion, while rivulets of fire drip from the molten aluminum rails of the now crisp cedar deck. The white pattern siding has melted and discolored to a point far beyond compare, and the roof sags heavily in the middle, nearing its collapse. Police sirens flooding the desolate building bring Patient 13 back to reality. A crooked smile is plastered over his face. It seems to compliment his hallow cheeks and empty gray eyes. He stares far off, over the horizon and is lost in a small assemblage of storm clouds that have begun to stalk the chaotic stillness unfolding before him. It's the quiet before the storm. A crackle of radios rumble down the hallways as if in jealous reply to the murmur of thunder, cooing Patient 13. He rises. Blood is streaked across the floors and walls of both the upper and lower floors, disturbing the once sterile, waxed look of the place. In the middle of the lower floor sits the most disturbing vision of all: A nurse is hanging by a chain, some two feet off of the floor. Her blonde hair is streaked a crimson red, her face has gained a foul, purple tinge, and her lips pulse with intense pressure. Veins stick out on her forehead as her body hangs limp from the chain. Patient 13's heart skips a beat, as he admires his work. A flash of lightning bathes her in a beauty she could never possess as a living creature.

:chuckles: Sometimes life really throws you a bone, eh? For instance, MaxSonic, you may be amused to find who "some idiot" really is. lol I've checked your profile in the administrative control panel, and you're listed under the "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" user group. So, the case here is really, "MaxSonic needs to check his mail!!!" If you look at your old name, you'll find that it's not deleted. You're still listed as a "Newbie." So, yeah, check your mail and decide which account you will be staying under, boss.

I've had enough. There will be no more snide comments, petty flaming, or bickering in this thread. Such behavior is not only inappropriate, but disrespectful to those who have kept an open mind and taken a serious stance in this discussion. If anyone has personal issues with one another, they are to be settled elsewhere. In threads that touch upon hot issues, members may not always agree with one anothers' viewpoints or their styles of debating them, but it's important to retain a proper degree of civility. If you disagree with one another, you may debate the issues in a respectful manner. Otherwise, don't comment on each others' posts at all. I suggest that this warning be taken seriously. And, I apologize to all for disrupting the discussion.

This is interesting concept Tsukasa/Squall, but I'm afraid that it's only a portion of what could be a creative (and acceptable) RPG. I developed a similar interactive item shop for an RPG I created entitled "Project Gamer," so I'm a little excited to see others taking similar steps in creativity. I'm afraid, however, that creating an item shop with no discernible plot, characters, or purpose, is pointless. I suggest putting more thought into this idea and developing it into a legitimate RPG. For now, the only item that will be purchased is a lock.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel All this from a guy who was trying to convince me that it would never be worth it to get this game after GGX.
I said if they didn't add anything significant it wouldn't be worth it. Both Guilty Gear and Guilty Gear X were really lacking in modes. That was my main problem with the games. They were just too bare bones.
-
I'm so happy that this thread is finally getting some recognition. Guilty Gear X2 is probably one of my favorite games for the Playstation 2. Treble, you're absolutely correct. I loved the challenge involved in the modes. You really have to be skilled to complete some of the missions. Guilty Gear X2 definitely isn't a button masher. And, I love how it forces you to play as different characters. You have to be a well rounded player to finish the forty it takes to unlock Justice, Kliff, and Robo Ky. Anyway, the story behind Ky and Sol is as follows: Rumors of an immensely skilled lone-wolf bounty hunter had reached the ears of Kliff Undersn, the retiring captain of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. Kliff [the leader of the knights] was interested; he spared no means in finding Sol, and invited him to become a member of the Order. Sol's knighthood, however, was not to last. The growing tension between he and young master swordsman Ky Kiske was becoming more and more bothersome, and Sol realized that the majority of the knights bore him little more than ill will. When he saw his opportunity, he took it; Sol managed to desert the knights' camp with one of the Order's most valuable treasures... the blade known as Fireseal. What did you guys think of the anime video? It has me totally hyped for a Guilty Gear anime--except for the horrible voice actor that played Sol. lol That kind of turned me off.

A crooked smile is plastered on his face.
