Originally posted by wrist cutter Have you ever seen an idea brought up by any member that James has actually deemed "workable"? Neither have I.
Yes. Removing Newbie Lounge, adding strikethrough and spoiler tags, and adding the Cowboy Bebop forum, to name a few. ;)
So you would now want to burden the site's Administration by causing us to manually change user titles? This is unnecessary. Both myself and Charles already have more than enough to do; and Charles' responsibilities will increase over time anyway.
Exactly what I was saying. Staff is a lot larger now than it was when custom titles existed. What a hassle it would be now. Staff ranks are custom titles. That's more than enough in my book. The furthest I would want to go, is labeling normal moderators more effectively. When I was a moderator, people would private message me, asking me to close threads or deal with issues in other forums. I don't think people understand that moderators are limited to specific forums. And, there's some confusion as to who moderates what. As has been said, people don't pay attention to the main page. >_

There is already a recent thread on this page discussing sleeping habbits. You're free to discuss how many hours of sleep you get there. It's perfectly acceptable in the context of that discussion. Here is the link: Sleep thread

Yes, it's really not your fault. The rules have to be updated to include an official explanation regarding the creation of introduction threads. Basically, we've found that introductions aren't really necessary. Members will get to know you as you post. If you have any questions concerning the rules be sure to private message myself or a category moderator. Welcome aboard and have fun.
Originally posted by Harry Why do you insist to have a child born that nobody wants? Might as well kill it off early.
I'm sure that there are potential parents for the child. How can you automatically assume that no one wants the baby? There are plenty of couples unable to have children who would love an opportunity to become parents. Putting the child up for adoption would probably be the best course of action in this situation. Aborting a child will leave a scar on a woman that will never go away. The mental and emotional side effects that accompany abortion never disappear. In this case, we're dealing with a scared, confused, fourteen year old girl. So, it's quite unfair to dismiss the issue as mushy and unimportant in the grand scheme of things. This is a life affecting decision. Her conscience probably wouldn't be able to bear the procedure and its consequences. It would be a heavy burden to carry and she would inevitably have to tell her family--which would create problems. If the child is put up for adoption, it has a fair chance in life--and can make a couple extremely happy. There's no way a fourteen year old girl can support a child. She would have to rely on her parents, which doesn't appear to be an option.
Originally posted by hiachi and your posts bout them giving us all these other games are exaclty what i was talking bout, they give us good quality titles, yes but are they what we asked for? no.....I know they are the designers and we are not, so we dont have to get a say in the developement, but we ARE the consumers and we know what we want to buy, so i think we do need a Poke'Mon 3D game, and some other sequels to games that they left open ended/unanswered....
Oh? It's not possible to please everyone, but Nintendo has made quite an effort to cater to the wishes of fans. We've already seen next generation updates to Metroid, Super Smash Brothers, Mario, Wario, Zelda, F-Zero, Star Fox and Wave Race. If Nintendos' bringing its most beloved franchises (and new ones) to the console isn't what the fans want, then I don't know what is. Plus, Nintendo has created a console that is developer friendly, which leads to a greater variety in third party games and more timely releases. I found that PSX games released several months before their N64 counterparts. Now, the gap is nonexistent for the most part with cross platform releases. And--as mentioned, people demanded more adult-oriented titles and GameCube has 'em. BMX XXX, the lousy game that it is anyway, was left untouched while the PS2 version was censored. I'll agree that Nintendo has taken controversial directions with key franchises like Metroid and Zelda. But, these changes were more beneficial than hurtful to their respective franchises. Most true fans have accepted that by now. Now--I have to be honest. I couldn't care less about Pokemon. But, here's the way I see it: The franchise became successful as a handheld and that's where Nintendos' primary focus should be with the franchise. Just because a traditional Pokemon game hasn't surfaced on the GameCube doesn't mean that Nintendo is totally alienating Pokefans.

Yes, I've heard that Angle had an MRI. He hasn't received the results yet--but things aren't looking good. I wouldn't say that SmackDown doesn't have anyone though. The quality of wrestling on the show is still far superior to that of Raw. SmackDown is considered the wrestling brand. Raw is the entertainment brand. I do agree that SmackDown is taking some blows in the superstar department with the loss of Edge, Angle, Rock, and possibly Hollywood Hogan following Wrestlemania. It's rumored that Austin will make the jump to SmackDown after his 'mania match with Rocky. So, that could make up for some of the losses. And--I doubt that Goldberg will replace Angle. Goldberg has already stated that he will not job to Triple H or Brock Lesnar. Furthermore, the WWE doesn't have the time to build a proper feud between the two men.

The game has generous doses of blood. It stains the ground and rolls down the characters as they fight. So--there's no shortage of juice. There is no dismembering during the actual fight. However, characters can impale one another with their weapons and drain their opponents' energy away. Fatalities are bloody for the most part, but they're unrealistic and cheesy--like other games in the series. There isn't much new in that department. But, your real focus on the game shouldn't be on the gore. The game play is Deadly Alliances' strong point. For the first time, in a long time, we have a Mortal Kombat game that has the depth to stand up to the competition. Blood is just an afterthought, in my opinion.

Raw had its ups and downs last night. I was expecting an injury angle to explain the absence of Randy Orton and Batista for the next several months a la Edge, but that never happened. Also, I thought that Steiner was going to make a heel turn and join with Triple H to make up for the early demise of Evolution. All the pieces are in place. The fans aren't behind Steiner because they've realized his in-ring work is atrocious and his mic skills are laughable. It would benefit his character most to just become hired muscle for Triple H. Furthermore, Triple H hinted at a conspiracy as he finished his promo at the start of the show. But, instead of turning Steiner heel, Triple H walked down the aisle during the Booker T bout and screwed Big Poppa Pump. How does this make sense? Another problem I had with the show was that Goldust pulled up and said that he was on his way to speak with Booker T. They never showed the conversation--more sloppy writing. Speaking of sloppy, why would the Dudley Boyz music cue perfectly with their 3-D, if they're "suspended"? Lastly, I didn't like the hardcore tag match featuring Rob Van Dam/Kane and Tommy Dreamer/Al Snow. The WWE could be doing a lot more with Rob Van Dam, Kane and Dreamer. None of them should be forced to work random tag matches. It's sad that backstage politics are keeping so many good things from happening. On the bright side, I loved the Rock/Hurricane vignette. The Rock is brilliant on the mic and The Hurricane gives him plenty of material to work with. Also, The Rock has the star power to rub off and get Helms over. It's a situation that benefits both men. The Austin promo was disappointing in that it was a lot shorter than I expected it to be. But, his confrontation with Rock was electrifying. Those two have feuded many times, but they have a natural chemistry that keeps their showdowns exciting. There wasn't a lot of solid wrestling on last night's show, but it was entertaining. The buildup to Wrestlemania has been phenomenal so far--even in the women's division. And, some of the mid card matches are solid enough to steal the show. HBK/Chris Jericho is a prime example. Hopefully we'll see some fresh singles angles for RVD, Kane, and a few others next week.

Jealousy is a natural human emotion that stems from passion--not reason. So, under some circumstances, it can betray our better judgement. When a couple breaks up, it's not necessarily because the partners no longer share love for one another. It might be due to incompatibility issues. They might not share the same interests, or want the same things out of life. They might have married young and realized later, that they don't know each other as well as they thought they did. Other times, people simply grow apart and lose the bond that kept them together.. In situations like these, I can understand if jealousy arises when one partner discovers that the other has found happiness with someone else. They couldn't provide the happiness their partner needed, and now someone else is--with a person they still love. Jealousy doesn't even need to operate on such a level. That's just one example. But, it occurs because feelings of love are still there. In that situation, there's nothing wrong with it. Unfortunately jealousy is often a result of insecurity. In that kind of situation it's dead wrong. Obviously, it can lead to bitterness and abuse. Having said that, it's safe to add that some people just can't feel comfortable in a relationship and are constantly suspecting their partner of infidelity--which only serves to push people apart from one another. Or, it can lead to dangerous outcomes, like violent behavior. So, while you're in a relationship, you shouldn't be jealous. You should be comfortable and trusting. A relationship without trust isn't a healthy relationship at all. After certain break-ups, it's only natrual to feel jealous. Those feelings go away though once one accepts that their partner is better off.

This thread won't work. Members can simply respond with two word answers. Those kind of posts violate our policies regarding SPAM. I suggest you create an RPG with a little more substance, where members can be a little more creative. Read other RPGs in the Adventure Arena forum and explore the Recruitment subforum located at the top of the page to get an idea of how things work. Feel free to private message Flash, Warlock, or myself if you have any questions.

I still do not like the rooftop image. It's too dark for my tastes. The one you're using in your signature appeals more to me. The colors and overall image are just more interesting.
Originally posted by Domon Awe, Charles come on. The game is awesome, the only reason the game is stuffed with Cut Scenes is because they reveal much of the storyline. I just think that the game is definetly on my to get list. And i'm guessing that the ending is lacking because there are 5 more games of the series. I think that the game so far is awesome.
Hehe, I won't hold out on the game unfairly or bash it without playing. I might really like it. Who knows? As I said, the storyline sounds captivating. I'll want to pick it up to enjoy the deep plot and the battle system. But, I'm just not eager to sit through hours of cinematics right now. When school lets out in a couple months I'll have time to invest in games like that. And--I can understand that there are more games in the series, but an abrupt ending isn't really forgivable. You have to admit that it's a little dissatisfying completing a long game only to be left hanging until the sequel. A weak ending literally killed the Soul Reaver series, for example. At least, in my book.

I do not think that Seymour was capable of loving Yuna.
When his mother sacrificed herself to Sin, Seymour lost a huge part of himself--the only person he cared about. It ruined his outlook on life. If you think about it, growing up in Spira is a savage struggle. The inhabitants of the planet are very pessimistic. They live in a state of constant fear, losing ones they love and fearing for their own lives. It's an existence of helplessness and defeat. No one can ever beat Sin. It's something everyone has to live with. When Seymour lost his mother, he lost the maternal influence in his life; he lost warmth, compassion, love, and security. He was just left with the fear and chaos of a world plagued with Sin--there is no room for love in that world. Thus, his primary motivation would be to recapture the love he once had, or erase his pain altogether by destroying the terrible world he grew up in. Did you see the way Yuna and Seymour exchanged glances upon first meeting? Perhaps he saw something in Yuna--that reminded him of his mother. He saw a young summoner willing to sacrifice her own life to provide a temporary calm. That ignited something within him. Hatred, resentment, fascination, false love, who knows? But, there was a connection there. Whatever feelings Seymour might have had for Yuna were not genuine--they were misplaced. Furthermore, they were overshadowed by his own selfish agenda. He wanted to become one with Sin so that he could destroy the world. But, couldn't his secret motivation be more intimate? Maybe his true purpose was to unite with Sin because it would bring him closer to his mother in a way.
Seymour probably sees Yuna as an object, an object he can hold a false emotional attachment to, and a tool he can use to satisfy his own desires. I hope that some of what I said makes sense, heh. Anyway, nice thread Ginny. It really made me think--probably too much. lol.

First of all, this belongs in the Square Enix forum--in the FFVII help thread, to be exact. Secondly, be specific. What part of the game is giving you trouble? Your post is too vague, I'm afraid.
Originally posted by Domon You hardly play that much, of course i expected that because OPM did a review on Xenosaga, they said that for the first 6 hours of the game you only get to play about 90 minutes cause the game is crammed with Cutscen after Cutscene and you really have to be committed to playing it.
Therein lies my problem with the game--and the reason I won't pick it up until I'm finished with Dark Cloud 2 and Wind Waker. Cinematic presentations in RPGs don't bother me if they're the icing on the cake. That is, cinematics are fine--if they are used to advance the plot in a meaningful way, or serve as rewards for completing a lengthy dungeon. They're always nice to break up the monotony. Xenosaga sounds a lot like Metal Gear Solid 2; it reminds me of an interactive film. The plot is supposedly very adult, tackling politics and ethics effectively. And, I'll probably dig the storyline. But, wafting through hours and hours of superfluous cinematics is always frustrating to me. After a while I just want the characters to shut up and let me play. I hear that the ending, or lack thereof, is lackluster as well. The interesting-sounding battle system might entice me into buying it, but not until I find it in the used bins.

I don't get inspiration when I'm ill; I just can't think clearly. Being sick just puts me in an awful mood--and it shows in whatever I do. There's no creativity. Plus, whenever I'm not feeling well, it's hard to strain my eyes or neck for long without upsetting my stomach. Now--when my emotions are at a certain degree (i.e., when I'm really happy, or really sad)--that has a tremendous effect on what I write.

I have strange sleeping patterns, too. Depression can't touch me, but I can relate somewhat. I'm able to stay awake until odd hours of the morning--no problem and shrug off sleepiness with the help of a quick shower. But, when I actually do get a healthy dose of rest, I feel tired and weak for the entire day. It doesn't make sense. Bah. >_
Originally posted by Mitch Mmm. I do not see why this was moved here. It isn't about the TV show, it is about the death of a wonderful man. But whatever. It's still shown in OL....:Wanders off:
It's quite simple. Most of Mr. Rogers' contributions were in the area of children's programming; it's what he is most widely known for. So, of course, it was only natural that discussion regarding his show would arise. Thus, the discussion is most relevant to this forum.
-
A lot of this discussion is pointless. Buu's anatomy isn't very important. Some of you really read a little too far into this. lol I don't know if you can classify people pods as organs, since they are temporary and aren't necessary to his survival. I feel silly even discussing this, but he must have had some kind of nervous system or whatever. If you remember correctly, he was able to digest food and go to the bathroom. In the end, however, it's important to realize that we're only talking about an anime here, folks. Heh. Comedy plays a large part in DragonBall Z. Plenty of the protagonists and antagonists behave comically. I mean, Gokou acts silly all the time. He and Vegeta even play paper, rocks, scissors.

I've played Black & White. I still own it. It's somewhere around here. Heh. The thing is--Black & White never captured my attention. It's only a matter of opinion, of course, but it didn't seem too outstanding. I'm sure that underneath the layers of dislike I had for the game there was something deep and rewarding, but I was never able to find such qualities. "Painfully average" comes to mind when I think about the experience I had with it.
-
Heh, I remember Peter Molyneux (sp?) claiming that this would be the greatest game of all time. Gosh, I wonder why he would say that about his own product. It seems ambitious enough to its credit though--perhaps too much so. I like some of the small touches and physical effects that have been touted continuously such as tanning and scarring. Plus, the development possibilities are intriguing. Being able to choose the path of evil sounds like fun. I just hope that the game's plot won't be too detached. I have a feeling that the final product will be a bit generic. But, I've heard that there will be scripted events to prevent that. Nonetheless, I'm not exactly anticipating this with bated breath.
-
I'm sorry, but this is not acceptable. We have a recruitment subforum at the top of this page. Sign-ups belong there--not in your actual RPG in the Adventure Arena forum. Secondly, it would be nice to see a least a marginal bit of effort put into this. I see no discernible plot and your character description is greatly lacking. I believe--it would behoove you to read our rules, other members' RPGs and some recruitment threads before giving this another go.

I never understood the hype surrounding the first one. The DVD flew off the shelves for some reason. The sales must have been attributed to car nuts and Vin Diesel fan girls. Don't get me wrong, the movie was pretty enjoyable. It just didn't live up to the high expectations I had for it--there was nothing new in terms of plot and no one stood out with a good performance. A collection of hot vehicles and beautiful young people won't cut it anymore in my book. I didn't even bother with Biker Boyz. 2 Fast 2 Furious will probably do well on name value alone. It's not like Vin's a big loss anyway. The car nuts will still dig it. The Vin Diesel fan girls will be forced to watch the film again too because their car nut boyfriends will drag them along.

Man, I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. I knew that Mr. Rogers was old, but I didn't realize he was pushing eighty. It's very heartbreaking. I grew up watching his show and it's better than most of the garbage pushed on children's television today. There was no violence or anything of that nature--it was just so pure. Men like Mr. Rogers are rare. Sadly enough, today's children will never get to grow up with him. What a bummer. I'm especially saddened that he had to die from such a nasty disease.

Go a little easy there Break. I'm not questioning your judgement conerning this thread, but there's no need to be so rude when closing threads or dealing with the trivial violation of rules. I believe that--it's possible to enforce the rules and explain them effectively without offending others in the process. ;) Sorry, I was in a not-good-mood that day v_v; -Break
