I know that there are some poetry freaks cruising these parts. Especially my buddy Mitch. So, I have decided to post a couple of my favorite poems---from William Blake! lol Blake's work really amazes me because he had no formal education. And, perhaps more intriguing, he claimed to be a mystic. He saw visions of God and trees filled with angels. I read this stuff in both Middle school and High school, so some of you might be familiar with it as well. The Lamb Little Lamb, who made thee? Dost thou know who made thee? Gave thee life & bid thee feed, By the stream & o'er the mead; Gave thee clothing of delight, Softest clothing wooly bright; Gave thee such a tender voice, Making all the vales rejoice! Little Lamb, who made thee? Dost thou know who made thee? Little Lamb I'll tell thee, Little Lamb I'll tell thee! He is called by thy name, For he calls himself a Lamb; He is meek & he is mild, He became a little child: I a child & thou a lamb, We are called by his name. Little Lamb God bless thee. Little Lamb God bless thee. The Tyger Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare seize the fire? And what shoulder, & what art, Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand? & what dread feet? What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was they brain? What the anvil? what dread grasp Dare its deadly terrors clasp? When the stars threw down their spears, And watered heaven with their tears, Did he smile his work to see? Did he who made the Lamb make thee? Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? If I get some decent responses and insight dealing with the poetry, I'll be glad to post more. :)

I despised the Cloister of Trials. They were the one, clear, constant reminder that I was playing a video game, in that they removed me from the experience. I would have preferred well-developed dungeons with believable puzzles, as opposed to the silly sphere tasks. The trials sections didn't pose much of a challenge per say, but they became overly tedious. Especially the later ones involving moving platforms.

Actually, GhostofSalvtore, there is considerable storyline progression in the Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar feud... I've heard that the Goldberg negotiations have picked up a lot recently, too. For a while, the situation was looking pretty grim. Goldberg only wanted to work Wrestlemania and Backlash. But, WWE upped their demands. Apparently, Goldberg is very spontaneous when dealing with contract negotiations. He usually waits until the very last possible second before signing. If he has indeed signed, his contract will be very similar to Hogan's. Meaning, he will make a considerably large sum of money for working limited dates.

I haven't progressed into the game that much. But, it's safe to say that this is the best RPG I've played in a while--alongside Suikoden III. The visual style looks very similar to Sly Cooper's--it's a dark kind of pseudo cel shading. It's a big step up from its predecessors' generic approach. I've noticed what you mean about storyline elements sprucing up the dungeon diving. It really breaks up the monotony and motivates me to see what's coming up next. But, I have a feeling that it's going to take forever for me to beat this game. It's super fun upgrading weapons and synthesizing items. I've noticed that combat isn't in the way like it was in Kingdom Hearts. I actually want to destroy every monster and level up. And--unlike the last Dark Cloud, I don't think that your character can become thirsty. What a hassle that was. Heh. So, have you collected any medals Sem? The requirements are pretty nasty sometimes. I'll probably level up before I take acquiring medals seriously.

I notice that there seems to be more depressing threads during the winter months. The same thing happened last year. People are probably revealing more personal problems and intimate details about themselves because they've seen others do so. The responses are generally comforting--so they feel safe in seeking advice and comfort here. That speaks volumes about the progress the forums have made. But, these topics aren't always mature. I've noticed a lot of silliness and immaturity resulting from those threads. Especially when the participants in the discussions have no idea what they are talking about. So, mature topics dealing with education, religion, homosexuality, or politics don't always equate into mature discussion.
Originally posted by sweetreyes But did the series say for how long Goku trained before the Tourney. It looked to me that right after he came to other world that they went straight to the Tourney in order to try and fight! I thought that the Tourney came right after Cell's defeat and that Goku trained for several years after it!
As you probably know, Gokou was in the afterlife for seven years. It's not clear exactly how long he trained after, before, or during it. I'm just assuming that he had to train somewhat before his final match in order to gain enough strength to defeat Paikuhan. After all, if there were any opponents not shown in the series, they couldn't have been too challenging. He never had to go Super Saiya-jin until his fight with Paikuhan.

This forum is strictly for OtakuBoard RPGs--not advertising RPGs for other sites. This site is in contradiction with our rules as well, because it allows swearing. If you want to recruit members for a Harry Potter RPG on OtakuBoards--feel free to do so.

Man, it feels so good to see those logos become a reality. I like them both equally. But, I'm not so sure I invented the names. I think that Semjaza might have been saying X-lax before me. Anyway, it's too bad you couldn't find a decent image of a Playstation 2 controller. At least you incorporated it into the location though. Good work Snake. Hehe.

The dirty politics behind the Grammys really turns me off to it. Besides being a parade of five-figure outfits and overpaid, overproduced, fame junkies, the event only features nominees that work for Sony, Vivendi, Universal, AOL-Time-Warner, or BMG. I'm not a huge fan of the music industry anyway, but if I was I wouldn't consider this an awards show. The awards aren't about talent, but record sales and popularity instead.
Originally posted by sweetreyes Now I was shocked to hear this, most men don't want to hear a women fart at all. And most women thnk that its absolutely repulsive, but why is that? Its a part of our normal bodily actions, if you donb't fart or burp or poo then somethings wrong with you...literally.
Certain behaviors and actions are appropriate in a given situation--proscriptive norms. They preclude you from doing things like reading a newspaper during class--or dropping a bean burrito bombshell in public. Urinating or going "poo" are both bodily functions. But, depending on where you do them--they can be repulsive. There's always a time and a place for everything. That is why people would laugh at or be disgusted by a teacher if they allowed a stream of urine to run down their leg while teaching a lesson. Anyhoot, I remember an episode of Third Rock From the Sun where Mary farted in front of Dick and both were ecstatic because neither one cared. It showed they were comfortable around one another. I'm pretty self conscious about doing that stuff around anyone though. It's polite just to leave the room. But, I reckon that the freedom to do that around one another without being embarrassed shows a certain level of intimacy. :drunk:

Revenge is a hollow pleasure; it might feel good for a brief period of time, but the ends rarely justify the means. I mean, revenge only adds to wrongs, it doesn't erase them or their effects. Plus, as Rhys said, taking vengeance upon someone else only brings you down to their level. It makes the victim become the very person that hurt them in the first place. The consequences of that can be heavy on one's conscience (i.e., strong feelings of guilt and self loathing). So, in many ways, revenge can corrupt someone worse than the wrongs inflicted upon them in the first place. I'm human though, I'm not a saint. I can't honestly say that I wouldn't want vengeance if someone did something particularly hurtful or damaging to myself or my family. Human emotion overrides logic sometimes.

I've banned the e-mail addresses and IP numbers of the bots. The numbers were complete so no one should be affected. I doubt that these mass spammers would have lasted very long with precautionary measures such as flood control and the ability to prune in place, but I decided it would be best to take the safe route anyhow.

Typically we do not allow these sort of threads. Although there are a few rare exceptions, such as chaos_79, you will usually receive biased opinions due to how our gaming forums are separated. It would behoove you to research the software on both consoles and weigh one against the other and make your decision based on that.

Like Vampire Ed and most others, I had mixed feelings about the film overall. I'm not a fan of the comic book, so I can't hold the most educated opinion--I don't know how true it stays to its source material. But, I loved how mature Daredevil was. It seemed much more adult that movies like Spiderman and X-men. Going into the theater, I had no idea that Daredevil kills his victims. There was more blood than I expected too. Some of the fight scenes were a tad ridiculous and exaggerated though. I still don't like the idea of two people fighting in a school yard over a name....

I'm pretty sure that Weh made a topic similar to this in the past. So, it's safe to say that you're not alone. People have been haunted by boredom forever. I've read old works where the underlying message is that people work solely to avoid boredom, vice, and poverty. Anyway, I've grown tired of doing the same old routine day after day--carrying out the same motions over and over again. But, I think that those days of security are the days I'll miss the most. Right now, I can't wait to finish college, but I know I'll be scared to death when I graduate. The mere thought of choosing a permanent career and settling down is a little overwhelming for me. So, yeah, right now you're in the preparation stage of your life. I'll bet that someday you'll find that there weren't enough of these days.

Hey, welcome! The rules haven't been updated in a while, so I'll take this opportunity to inform you that introduction threads are not permitted. But, don't worry, as you begin to post, it will be easy for other members to get to know you better. I hope that have fun in the various anime sections on the boards. You might especially enjoy the Cowboy Bebop subforum. ;)

It's subjective whether cannibalism is immoral or not in the first place. Certain societies have absolutely no problem with eating human flesh. So, I wouldn't feel that resorting to cannibalism is wrong in the situation Harry described. I suppose that morals go out the window when one's most basic instincts replace the values society has placed upon them. I mean, it would be almost like reverting back to infancy.... I mean, resorting to desperate behavior is a part of survival instinct and it's not always controllable. Nonetheless, I couldn't eat anyone that I know. If I had a pet chicken or something, I wouldn't be able to eat that--let alone a person, lol.

Man, I can't wait to get my hands on this sucker. I was surprised when you showed me the review--I didn't expect an evolution this great between Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2. I'm still not a fan of the random dungeons, and I really wish that they were removed from the game, but the addition of time travel, inventions, and monster transformations should help balance everything out. A touch of innovation is just what this series needed. Aside from the town building ability, the first Dark Cloud came off as nothing but a weak Zelda clone. It's a little disappointing that weapons still break too. Aside from the random dungeons, the flimsy weapons are what proved to be most annoying in the original game. Thankfully, the breaking has been toned down a bit. The fact that I won't have to go maze crawling is neat too. I've always detested RPGs that had me crawling around dungeons forever. But, man, I hope you get some more replies to this thread. Once I pick the game up, it would be neat to get a little discussion going.

I would like to remind SSJ Pud and GroundXero that double posting is against the rules. It would be nice if this thread could get on track soon as well. Much of this discussion could have been handled via private message.

I did not delete the post. But, it was obviously deleted because it held no relevancy to the topic. I think you already know that. You said, the purpose of this thread isn't really to debate the relevancy of the post, but I find it impossible not to delve into. The issue is that moderators deal with so many members that it would be too much of a time consuming burden to give everyone special attention. Staff, for the most part, expect members who have visited the forums on a daily basis for an extended period of time to understand why their posts have been deleted. If your post is going to be edited, you will receive an explanation. There's no exception to that rule. Moderators must leave a clearly visible message in your post. It's a very serious issue when a member's post has been edited inappropriately.

First of all, Ginny, it's important to realize that you're not being just like your mother. The fact that you vented your grief and worries in this thread proves that. In a way, you're not keeping everything bottled up. Even if this is only a Internet forum, I hope that getting your problems off your chest provides you some relief. Just remember, you always will have people you can turn to and be honest with here. And...you have every right to take your mother's comments seriously. People who threaten to kill themselves are often sending messages to others. Her suicidal behavior could be a means of lashing out because or real or imagined wrongs. All you can do is try to be there for her more than ever and try to connect with her. It won't always be easy and it might be difficult to get her to express her true feelings, but I know that your love can see her through. Also, I know that she isn't being selfish and that she loves you very much. It's just that the feelings of grief and depression plaguing her are so thick and overbearing that she doesn't feel like she has a way of shedding them. And as Raiye said, she just doesn't want you to see her upset. She's probably afraid of the sadness she'll see in you--and she doesn't want to see her daughter become a reflection of her grief. It would probably make her feel guilty. Hopefully she will learn that she can drawl from your strength. From what I've learned, suicidal people don't really want to succeed. Deep down inside, I don't think that she wants to leave you. She probably just doesn't know how to reach out to you properly. I've studied suicide only recently and I've learned that a lack of religiosity can be a factor in suicide. Although I don't know you too well Ginny, I know that you're a religious person and that you have faith. If your mother hasn't been very committed to her religion, it might be beneficial if you help her get involved. Really, I'm sorry that to hear about all this and I hope that my words provided at least a glimmer of help. As a side note, I do not want to see any more religion bashing or bickering here--this isn't the place. It's very selfish for people to criticize one another in a thread where everyone should be providing words of sympathy and advice. I will be keeping a close eye on this thread and I will not tolerate ignorant or hurtful behavior. I'm not directing my comments at anyone in particular, but I felt the need to make the general warning.

I already knew that she was going to be killed. Certain reviewers were a bit sloppy and all but painted out what was going to happen. Nonetheless, actually seeing Sephiroth plunge the masamune through her was a memorable moment. Aeris was a pretty lovable character because of her innocence in the situation. The translation was a little lackluster, which probably took away from the emotional appeal, but if you think about the circumstances in which she died (looking up at Cloud with an innocent smile after being savagely beaten by him only a short time before), it was powerful stuff. Especially when the white materia bounced in time to the music and Cloud carried her to her watery grave. As I said, the writing was just so confusing, though. Cloud's response to her murder wasn't very moving...

Yeah, they really blasted the character designs and inappropriate humor. The interactive elements in the stages seem to be hit and miss. On one hand they offer a new level of stratgey. On the other, they result in frustration and cheap deaths. It's a shame too because the game seemed to have potential.
Originally posted by Na'dou That's nice to hear that people accept you........you sound sorta like me in a way... and I was on topic (this is really an open conversation thread cuz I hate making threads everytime I have something different to talk about). I found something that I would like to try talking about, if that's okay...if not, I'll forget about it and go back to my first topic....I thought everyone was done with that issue so I went on to another one. I hope I'm not being rude!....
You're not being rude. It's just that you are going off topic. The thread is dealing with acceptance issues. If you want to start a thread dealing with the nightclub incident, feel free to. But if you start dedicating single threads to a wide variety of issues, they will become cluttered.
