1. My high school was notorious for setting strict controls. Besides obvious keywords, such as sexual innuendo and swear words, any site containing the word "ball" was automatically blocked. Also, most video game sites were blocked because of the word "game." Candystand was blocked a long time ago because it was popular in my school. The old slugfest game was as well. Otakuboards was accessible for me, because that's where I found the site in the first place. TheOtaku.com is probably blocked in your school because the person manipulating the settings most likely considers anime a form of pornography....
2. This is also one of my favorite poems. I read it back when I was studying racism. Almost anyone who is familiar with the practice of lynching should be able to instantly feel the savagery and emotion involved with it by reading these lines. The imagery is simple, but it's so powerful.
3. I don't know Tommy. I can understand your hesitancy regarding Raw 2, but Legends of Wrestling 2 is supposedly a disappointment. Ruthless Aggression looks amazing from what I've seen. Judging from video, the animation is on par with SmackDown 4. More importantly, the season mode has supposedly been revamped and the "spirit meter" ironed out. But, I'll have to be certain that Anchor delivers all that it's promised before I bite. Fable interests me slightly. But, I am more interested in looking into the immediate future. What does that hold? Kung Fu Chaos and Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus. I'm surprised that more people haven't replied to Cyko's thread dedicated to that game. It has some serious potential...

Megaman X7
Originally posted by Cyko ^_^ I wouldn't say he looks awful Semjaza, but he does look a little on the bad side.
I would say he does judging from those screens. :drunk: I'm happy that the side scrolling elements are being retained. I can look past how dreadful Megaman looks and how boring the backdrops appear to be thus far if Capcom injects the game with super tough white knuckle difficulty and fresh game play. The franchise has been sorely lacking originality lately. As a fan of the first two Megaman X titles, I hope that some credibility is restored to the Megaman name.
5.
Originally posted by The One Is smoking like bungy jumping? Do we do it because we know we can and there is a risk involved? It is a proven fact that humans live for a rush. People love to be close to danger, but will never admit it.
Nah, it's nothing like bungie jumping. It's quite the opposite. Generally, people who begin smoking are young and have the "immortal" mentality. Death is so far off that they can't be touched. It will take years before smokers are living close to danger. Someone who wants to expose themselves to danger or "live on the edge" would be better off taking up extreme sports. I don't know if some people begin smoking because they're nervous. Depression is a trait more commonly found in smokers than nonsmokers, but it hasn't been proven whether smoking causes depression or if depressed people are more likely to begin smoking. Anyway, I will never smoke. The smell is unbearable, it stains teeth and fingernails yellow, and costs a lot of money. Plus, it's too much of an inconvenience. Hasn't anyone ever seen the stereotypical group of smokers huddled together, freezing to death? lol Bans on smoking are becoming very common too. It's almost completely illegal to smoke in public in Delaware.
6. I don't hear Internet terms spoken in real dialogue. People don't call freshmen "newbies" or anything. When people tag the bathroom walls we call it graffiti, not "SPAM." No one has ever said "lol" either. Laughter is a natural demonstration of human emotion--so if someone slips and says it, they definitely need to get out more...

T.a.T.u.

I usually don't listen to music, but I downloaded the song Outlaw mentioned, "All The Things She Said." I agree with a lot of you. They have a knack for vocals and beats. It doesn't sound like mindless pop manufactured and packaged for sex starved teenagers. I haven't heard any of the other songs, but their lyrics don't seem to be drenched with controversial undertones--even if the videos are.
8. Most people I know didn't like the movie, but I thought it was totally awesome albeit drawn out. Daniel Day-Lewis's performance as "The Butcher" stole the damn show. I could feel the character, he was real. Everything from his mannerisms to his voice just pulled me in. I usually try to stay away from Leonardo DiCaprio flicks just because of his terribly flat acting, but much to my surprise and delight, the cast wasn't too shabby. The film touched upon Irish immigration and discrimination nicely--which also took me off guard. I wonder if anyone else noticed how the Irish only spent minutes on American soil before being carted off to fight an American war. Plus, the movie depicted the very first ghettos, Irish influence on politics and the venting of their frustration on African Americans. Of course, Gangs of New York wasn't perfect (I still can't see Leo in a tough-guy role). But, it wasn't nearly as dreadful as I thought it'd be. The last scene with the cemetery and the evolution of the city is particularly beautiful and memorable.
9. I agree with what is being said somewhat. Once people reach a mature age, their partners can be significantly older or younger, it shouldn't make a difference--to them. Buuuut, what about the impact it makes on others? Like, what if I marry a fifty year old woman who has children that are older than I am? Of course, it could possibly make things difficult for them and stir trouble. In the end, it would be an uncomfortable situation for everyone involved. I believe that one's children should come first (even if they are grown) and that parents should think of their uneasiness with that kind of situation.
10. I heard about this a long time ago--in the press release announcing SmackDown 4 and Raw 2. I hadn't heard any new information about the game for quite a while, so I thought it was canceled. The name of this topic deceived me a little because it sounded like it was celebrating something good. As it stands, this will probably be one of the worst games ever made. It's just a cheap cash-in on the WWE brand. No one in their right minds could take a product like this seriously....
11. In my opinion, Alucard and Dante are the best looking male characters in the world of video games. Both are creatures of death and destruction masked by beauty. Their overall design is just "cool." Alucard's fluttering cape and dark Goth garb suit his pasty complexion pretty well. Dante, on the other hand, has a wicked red coat, leather, and the two most awesome guns in gaming: Ebony and Ivory. And, well, white hair is very becoming of vampire or demon characters. As far as females are concerned--I can't quite make up my mind. The spectrum is just so broad. Kairi from Kingdom Hearts would be a nice choice, lol.
12. Transtic Nerve was correct because he ain't not no sucka! Dig? I am an MFer: a Mattitude Follower. I got the inspiration from my role model, Matt Hardy Version 1.0. ^_^
13. Oh man, the pace of technological change has increases so rapidly in the past 150 (or so) years. Just think about it how much it contrasts with the 4,000 years prior to that in which humans advanced from digging sticks and hoes to the plow. Computers and electronic communications are really making leaps and bounds and defining how we live. It's amazing. The only problem is when culture has to play "catch-up" with technology and people are forced to unjust so quickly. Like, for instance, the PC and electronic coding have made it possible to create a health identifier for upper, middle and working class people in the United States. Heck, we might even be able to throw homeless people into the mix. Based on available technology, it would probably be possible to create a national data bank that includes everyone's individual medical records from birth to death. Using that kind of identifier, health providers and insurance companies could rapidly transfer those medical records around the globe, and researchers could access unlimited data on people's diseases, test results, and treatments. But, I doubt that a lot of people would immediately accept it. It would be considered an invasion of privacy and could be abused. So, I guess with every step mankind takes forward, they have to pay a price. That theory has been applied to a lot in society--even in religion and other literature.
14. Hello everyone! As you can see, I am making another rare appearance in the artwork and design forum. It doesn't happen very often and for good reason, but there's no turning back now. Before you look at the image, I should warn you that it contains my "Too hot for Otakuboards" avatar. So, if you are offended by suggestive themes, I suggest you don't view the attachment.
15.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Then maybe you should focus your attention on English and a typing course.
That was too good, lol. Yeah, I don't think that throwing a bunch of riddles at my professors would do much to sway my grades. I would probably be given a drug test or something. Instead of this foolish crap I suggest you hit the books kiddo. ^^
16. This game should provide a nice challenge, judging by the somewhat intense challenge of the Gameboy Advance F-Zero's later tracks. So, I don't know if I'll mind fewer racers onscreen. If they serve a purpose, I'll be happy. The game shouldn't run too slow judging from the speedometer in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen--if the representation of speed is accurate. But, who knows. The multiplayer mode should be nice. If the game truly runs at a blazing rate, staring into a small box could prove to be a little tricky though. Hmm, I notice a gravity option in the track selection. The manipulation of gravity could be extremely cool and impact the overall strategy depending on a vehicle's unique abilities. Neat. Judging by the "Best Time" record, the races are still a little long for this style of racer, but definitely trimmed down from F-Zero on GBA. Not bad at all. Lastly, I dig the lighting effects and trails. They should really spruce up the game's industrial look.
17. Actually, we were going to create visual awards (avatars), but other circumstances prevented it from happening this year, unfortunately. Hopefully if we make them next year people will be willing to use them....
18.
Originally posted by Dragon Warrior Well, last night i saw two girls in a cat fight. I don't think that's a crime, but damn!
Yes. There was a bad cat fight last night at my job. Like always, it was over a guy. Big shock. The worst crime around my way lately involved someone being shot in the face with a shotgun over five ounces of weed. The dealer that was killed was currently a senior at my former high school. He was supposedly a gifted track runner. It's hard to feel sorry for a known drug pusher though.
19.
Originally posted by chibi_kunoichi i really love him. around a week ago, i almost bumped right into cal (calvin) at school on the stairs and we were like 1 inch apart (our face) and he is actually the guy i love next to matt.
It's funny how freely people use the word "love." :wigout: If you love two people, then the truth is that you love neither enough. But, because you said that you haven't even dated Matt, I know that it's only infatuation. So, the obvious answer is, have fun with Calvin. Man! That sounded so good, I'll say it again. Two times for the good time, have fun with Calvin. How old are you? Fifteen? Give or take a bit? It's beyond me why someone your age would wait for someone they haven't committed to. Heck, you're not in a race to settle down yet, lol. Just have fun. Plenty of guys will come along that you will like.
20. Okay, I understand. Nonetheless, I believe that we should keep this thread exclusive to Playstation trivia. There's already an Xbox quiz in the Microsoft forum and although cross platform talk is tolerated here, I think that we should limit this particular thread to Sony-related discussion to be fair. :)
21. My favorite sport is football (unless you count professional wrestling as a sport). I never played on a team because I wasn't that interested in it, but I was always fairly good. Much of my skill is largely attributed to my size though. It was never easy getting me down--and I loved blasting people and stiff arming. Plus I had good awareness on the field. I would actually grab members of my team from behind and use them as a human shield. It was fun. ^^
22.
Originally posted by super goku i thought this was surposed to be a PS2 quiz.
Yes, let's keep this on topic people. Having said that, I'm not too sure that I'm keen on a question asking participants to name every character in Tekken 4, since it's easy to answer just by looking up. Don't get me wrong--there are numerous members here who can answer the question without cheating, but it would be preferable to ask reasonably creative questions that delve deeper into the game's specifics. ;)
23.
Originally posted by Matt I didn't win anything. I'm not loved. /cries
Don't feel too discouraged, lol. When I was counting I noticed that nearly every active member received a least some votes. Because of just how broad the awards are, the necessarily limited final results can be a little deceiving. Although the winners in some areas were predictable, there were a few surprises this year. I really like the "honorable mention" category that we put into place, as well. It seems to have made the results all the more close in some areas. On that note, we have a few surprises in store for next year that will make the awards run much more smoothly. The overall evolution will be great. Although this is only a popularity contest, we already have great plans to balance everything out and allow everyone a better opportunity at winning something. :smirk: And I thank everyone that voted for me. It was very flattering...except for the skin head vote or whatever.
24. Dante's personality and attitude are almost completely nonexistent. He no longer taunts bosses or delivers badass quips. Hehe, come to think of it, I've rarely heard him speak more than a sentence in a cut scene. His arrogance is sorely missed. The world is sharper, but it is less detailed, as GameSpot said. You're usually placed in cities or towns where you'll see the same buildings repeat over and over again. There's little variety or gothic architecture in the worlds. The word "boring" describes them well. It doesn't help that the camera is really bothersome either. Since you're in a wide open area, it's zoomed out, eliminating close-ups almost entirely. Lastly, the game is fun....for about five minutes. Once I saw Dante's new moves, the excitement was gone. The first Devil May Cry didn't exactly plunge the player into exploration, but at least you weren't on one completely linear path. There were secret levels and stuff that haven't seen in the sequel yet. Also, it's not as fun beating mutant helicopters and crap, as it was tackling enormous creatures that taunted you and stuff. Stay away from this one. If you absolutely must play it, rent first.
25.
Originally posted by Kinetic I've seen the commercial, and I just don't think it's going to be right without the original characters that were actually alive at the end of the movie. I'll still see it, but I just don't know if it's going to have the same kind of effect on me.
Well, the jock was killed by the falling sign at the end of the first Final Destination. So, of course, he can't return. I won't really spoil what happened to the other male survivor, but I will say that Clear Rivers makes a return and plays a large role in the movie. So, there are still ties with the original characters.
