When!?

As much as I like Foredaddy, I'm gonna have to close this thread. Especially since, Solid Snake so kindly linked to one of many threads based on this game.
Originally posted by Schratn9 ((Was everyone excepted, If yes Ill edit this post.....?))
Yeah, mainly because I wanted variety in the SSMB battles and because I don't know who's still around.
  3. It was raining like mad, that's what I remember; almost ran over a cat in my Skullmobile. I was running out of ideas for new ?Robot Masters?. I?ve created tons of them. Of course, that's what I'm famous for! I remember my first six so well: Cutman, Gutsman, Elecman, Bombman, Iceman, and Fireman. But these days, I've been pressed for ideas. With all these goodie-two-shoes running around, it was especially hard gloat to myself in the mirror. I wasn't feeling too super of a villain--that's for sure. That's why I retired, I guess. After so many attempts to destroy that infernal Megaman, I decided to just give up--evil's not worth it. I'm too old to spend the rest of my days locked away like the others. Dr. Light was actually surprised by my retirement. Megaman didn't believe me, of course. That's why I opened up my old haunt, Skull Castle to the public. All of my classic Robot Masters on display for the world to see ... my finest idea. Appropriately, only the first floor of the castle is available to the casual visitor. That means, that the living room, display gallery, little cafe I have my Robot Masters working in, and the auditorium ... will all showcase my greatest hits to the public eye. I hope they enjoy the karaoke machine I have installed. Where was I? Oh, yes. I had to pull over the Skullmobile because it was raining so hard. I decided to stop at a nearby Starbucks (Note to self: potential Robot Master: Coffeeman. Scalding Coffee attack, like Toadman?s Acid Rain attack) to ride out the storm. Despite the cashier (a grotesquely overweight, slovenly teenage rapscallion, who glared my way frequently) I was able to enjoy my cup of ridiculously overpriced Joe--I tell you, we were able to plunder coffee for only a nickel a pound back in my day. Good coffee too, dagnabit. Bah, I'm going on another tangent. What was I saying--oh yes! I had grown quite accustomed to the stares. I am a celebrity, no less. Oh, if Brightman were around to extinguish their stares sometimes though. Just as I had begun to drown in a maelstrom of self pity (I really did miss Brightman ), a jolly looking fellow pulled up a seat across from me. I'll tell you, he didn't even ask first! Even a mad doctor such as myself has manners. I guess, that's how I knew he was bad news. Well, that and his beady red eyes gave it away. Tugging at the tips of his goofy mustache, he introduced himself as the "world renowned" evil Doctor Robotnik. "World renowned all right," I chuckled, "aren't you the one who couldn't defeat a mere hedgehog with your toys?" What a fabulously witty remark that was! I immediately jotted it down in my small notepad. After all, such a terrific remark would surely aid me in my gloating efforts tomorrow morning in the bathroom. This Dr. Robotnik, or so he called himself, wasn't too pleased. His face had become as red as his shirt--what kind of mad doctor doesn't wear a lab coat anyway? His presence was reassuring though. I had to admit, your average evil Tom, Dick, or Harry didn't escape from those darn justice prisons. By goodness, we almost came to blows when told me that my Robot Masters were "pathetic rip-offs of his mecha Sonic." But, instead of letting fists go to cuffs, I found myself reveling with him in the possibility of hatching a new evil scheme. At first, I was a bit skeptical. The two of us couldn't defeat our own respective nemesis's, let alone an army of the good. But, this turkey was sitting on a plan, and I was more than eager to hatch it--yet, failure would surely adversely affect my pension and result in negative publicity for Skull Castle. I told him that I would chew on his offer for a partnership.
  4. Since the link has already been provided to the similar thread, which I distinctly recall, I banish this thread into the realm of being closed.
  5. Where to start, where to start? Okay, the profile pages for each chracter have been completed somewhat. They may be touched up a bit per your suggestions, but these are virtually final. I would like to add an image of each character or themes, but we'll see. It would be nice, if you could place the links in your signatures, so that other members can readily access your information during play. Please let me know if such a request is possible. Next up, it's time to answer questions. All right, first Smokey Joe, you may use the staff and standard issue blaster for storyline purposes or battles. Of course, they won't give you an advantage though, since they weren't purchased. Your suggestions for the store are noted Desbreko. I'll try to salvage up some pictures of the items you mentioned and add them. :cool: Lastly, The One, if this level idea works, I would like for you to reach a yet-to-be determined level before you acquire the ability to go Super Sonic or Knuckles goes Hyper. Anyway, the wait has been long enough. Tonight when I get home from work, launched this rpg will be. ^^;;
  6. During the down time, I didn't do a whole lot on the internet. I just went on about my personal business, and began attending class for the fall semester. On the internet, I re-started a little niche rpg club of mine and wasted my time elsewere. Plus, I honed my writing skills a bit more. I also finally re-established contact with my mommy via e-mail, lol.
  7. Hmm, I take exception to this thread for a various reasons. For instance, this is a Sony forum, so members will most definitely encourage you to buy it. Secondly, this could quickly turn into a console vs. console fiasco. If you want to create a thread discussing Sony's online strategy, in an intelligent manner, feel free to do so. Quite frankly, there's no need to argue moot system specs. The consoles don't seem too distant in that area. I mean, numbers may tell you one thing, but for the most part, you'll find nearly identical conversions of titles on each system. For a completely objective opinion, I encourage you to look at release date calendars or video game retailers to shop comparatively, ultimately picking up whichever console is most compatible with you in price range, third party support, first party releases and online strategy. Anyway, you did ask for member opinions on performance and such, so I find that as long as discussion remains in the boundaries of the rules, I can leave this open. Especially, since this would be a good time to discuss how many members have problems with DVD playback, etc.
  8. We shall begin this probably around tomorrow night or this weekend sometime. Reason being, I need to make preparations, wait for members to become situated with the upgrade, and work around a very busy college schedule. Don't worry, I promise the best despite my time issues though. :toothy:
  9. Lauren-I don't have a problem with pokemon being used in your role-plays for stoyrline purposes. But, if you want a pokemon that can fly you places added to the general store, feel free to let me know. Keep in mind, I've never watched the show, so I'll need the critter's name. The One-The rpg probably won't start until Tuesday or Wednesday....or even later. I don't know what's up with the server issue and how that will affect this. I sure as heck don't want to start this game and have the boards go down the next day, so I'm being cautious. If you plan on being a frequent player when you return, I have no problem waiting for you. Since each character is developing their own initial story, you could integrade yourself easily later on. Anyway, if anyone has any items that they would like added to the General Store, then don't be shy, lol. Last night a few new surprises were added, along with the last mini game. ;)
  10. I am intrigued by the addition of "New Version" to the Final Fantasy Tactics name. Hopefully, Square will adjust the shoddy translation and insane difficulty level.....
  11. This was a simple question and I feel that it has been thoroughly answered. There is no point in keeping this topic open....
  12. I would never kill myself. Time will do that for me anyway. Have I ever thought about it? Yeah, sure. Especially when I'm bored at work or in class. I haven't thought about it seriously though, if that's what you mean. I do know people who are suicidal though. As long as someone has another person to talk to, I can't see a reason to resorting to suicide.
  13.
Originally posted by Juuthena Well, the slot for aeries that I'm asking to save is... for Mist. It might be a few days 'till she gets back.... so... Can I save the slot for Mist?
Hmm, fine. Mist is okay. I can't compromise like this for everyone though. So, let it be known that the my generosity stops here. After all, I have to be fair to everyone. :)
sorry just one more question! (I feel really stupid right now) but here it is: are the characters you featured on character select the only ones we can use? or can we use other characters from other nintendo games?
The only characters available are the ones on the select screen. I've tried my best to be broad though. And while I'm editing this, you scare me Cera. I didn't think that anyone could actually find a way to rp as Pong. Not even as a joke, lol. O.o;;;;;;;;;
  14. Hmmm, a lot of business to sort through, heh.
Originally posted by Juuthena Hey, is it okay if I reserve a spot for someone? Can I reserve a spot for Aeries for someone?
I suppose that the spot can be held for a short while if your friend is capable of playing Aeris well. But, make sure that they are the type of person that will sign up and stick around.
CWB: Is there any chance of a Floating Island? (Thats where knuckles lives) it could be just above the Green Hill Zone (wouldn't have to be drawn on) and it would give an incentive to buy the plane..
Sure. I have no problem with you including Floating Island as part of Green Hill Zone for storyline purposes. But, as Schratn9 pointed out, the plane has been included to make travel to faraway places easier. Similar to Final Fantasy's airship or what have you.
Wow, this sounds like a really cool RPG! About the levels, though, I don't really like the idea. That's just my oppinion, though.
That's cool. I was worried that I wasn't going to get opinions on that for a bit, lol. As I've said, I will only include this if a majority of the players involved feel it to be a good idea. After all, such a feature would have me counting your rps and tweaking profiles. So, there's no point in me going to that extreme if you guys aren't interested in the concept. :) And you can use the boomerang or play as any version of Link you wish. If you take careful notice, Link's selection picture or "avatar" if you will, is actually the younger version. The banner version in general store features cel shaded Link. So, whatever version you choose is fine by me. ;)
So will this be played as a normal rpg? or is it different? I'm kinda lost.
The game will be played much like a normal Otaku rpg with the inclusion of slightly more interactive elements, such as mini games and the store. You don't necessarily have to utilize mini games, but it might make the game more interesting. Plus, I'm striving towards creativity. Meaning, I won't necessarily be holding anyone's hand. Each person will be responsible for devising their own events. I will take control of the antagonists (villains) and move the overall story forward. Obviously, I didn't include every character in this game. So, secondary characters are optional on your part. For instance, Desbreko (playing Link) has the option of featuring Princess Zelda or his sister in his role-plays. The only secondary character unavailable (for vital storyline purposes) is Luigi. To make things easier on anyone whose character is close to Luigi (like James); Luigi has mysteriously disappeared as rumors of an escaped villain surfaced. If that makes it too difficult though, I'm willing to negotiate that idea.
And CWB, I know why level ups would be useful. Say someone is at level 1, and osmeone else is at level 10. That person who is at level 1 might not want to challenge the higher leveled players. Get me? Oh, and how do you play Super Smash Brothers online? The internet hookup isnt available yet for consoles. I havent checked out the Game Shop link you gave us yet so I'll do that now.
Yes, level ups would be useful in that respect as well. Once again, I'm glad that some of you are open-minded towards this. The concept would also reward those who are fairly active in this. Super Smash Brothers doesn't involve your GameCube, lol. The idea is tied in closely to the sparring forum. Give the rules another glance and if you still don't understand, I'll explain this feature more in-depth.
Ok I just played Pong, and man is it hard. I ended wiht a score of 200 on level 8. How do you expect us to beat the highscore when the person who holds the title does nothing but play pong all day? the high score is 700 for hose of you who are wondering
Exactly. That's why it is worth one hundred gold if you even place on the top score list. You don't necessarily have to come in first. :toothy: Phew, that should do it. I hope I managed to clear things up a bit. Thus far, I've been impressed with the sign ups. The beauty of the structure of this rpg is that there is room for a significant amount of players without the plot becoming cluttered (since everyone is scattered about).
  15. Hmm, I've seen this game in motion for Xbox and from what the demos suggest, that version trounces the PS2 incarnation visually. However, as mentioned there could be various reasons for this, such as a doctored up demo or early PS2 completion. From what I've heard, the developer has acquired the services of Gwen Stefani along with other "No Doubt" talent, to record the theme and provide voices I also hope that the game turns out well. It seems to be dark, edgy, and features a respectable heroine.
  16.
Originally posted by James When SSB battles occur, how will you handle the allocation of coins? That is...if I battle someone, will you make some kind of area within your own posts which announces who wins/loses and how much coins they earn? Or will we have to just check our character profile to look at our win/loss and coins record?
(In bold) I will post the winner and their income from the fight at the end of my very next roleplay following the battle. Profiles will also serve as a way to track others' records with complete win/loss records and total money earned. Elite DBZ, if I do implement the level up system, it will effect the Super Smash Brothers battles. Therefore, when deciding winners I would not only have to take into account post quality from the spars, but each fighter's level as well. Keep in mind that I wouldn't allow people to abuse this by posting for the sake of leveling up. :whoops: Anyway, thanks for the compliments guys. :toothy:
  17. Well, you didn't have to wait, lol. I agree that they were ignorant when they singled you two out, and tried to anger your buddy, but you were the ones that accepted a ride nonetheless. ;) This seems like normal teenage teasing to me though. Nothing horribly awful. Maybe Sarah felt bad for doing what she did; could have been inadvertent. She might have offered the ride to make up for it. It's the thought that counts.
  18. Hmm, initially I would have chosen an ending or cut scene from a Zelda game or Mario 64, but shockingly I too choose Conker's Bad Fur Day as the game with the best cut scene. I found the ending hilarious for some reason. Spoilers It was quite clever how the game "locked up". Conker's interaction with the "programmer" furthered my enjoyment of the concept and featured the unlikely protagonist cheating to win. The further parody of the Matrix scene was also neat for the simple fact that a squirrel had the option of choosing from so much high-powered artillery. The disgruntled new king's quote, "Out of all the people I don't like in the world, I have to be in a room full of 'em," was comical as well considering that he was referring to silly creations. Hearing their lame chant was the icing on the cake. All very clever on Rare's part. :)
  19.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel the frame rate if perfect
Hmmm, on the IGN review, they claimed that the frame rate was actually an issue in the game, even with the 30fps mode. Is this problem noticable at all during more intense sequences? I definitely like the look of the game. From the pictures you've posted, the Japanese style appears to resemble Sony's Jumping Flash.
  20. This is interesting.... I would most likely change the Tomb Raider series. The control and camera issues are far too frustrating to allow the games to be enjoyable. Furthermore, I would correct the collision detection problems and sloppy texture tearing. Another game I would like to change slightly is Devil May Cry. The boss battles were too repetitive....
  21. Welcome to What is Project Gamer? Unlike most role-playing games here on Otakuboards, which feature a set of characters pertaining to a specific theme, I have included a vast array of characters from various genres. Originally, Project Gamer was the tentative title for this game. In the end, however, I felt that the intermingling of vastly different characters and some new concepts warranted it as a permanent title. Let's face it, such experiments will either fall flat or take off. Read on to discover some fun new concepts that I will introduce in my latest and greatest role-playing game. BackStory Super villains never retire. Whether it be to achieve world domination or to kidnap an important female figure, constantly recurring gaming antagonists seem to have more lives than a bag of alley cats. Not anymore. Finally growing weary of constant battles, in which global prosperity hangs in the proverbial balance, gaming heroes across the world have developed high security strongholds within the boundaries of their respective lands to contain nefarious figures such as Bowser, Ocelot, Wesker and Gannondorf. Under such imprisonment, chances of escape are futile. With the most dangerous menaces plaguing the world held at bay, the land of gaming has blossomed with rich prosperity. Only one villain remains free. Ironically, all is well. The critically acclaimed arch nemesis of the blue wonder, MegaMan, Dr. Wily, has decided to do away with the baron world of crime and retire peacefully. Currently, he has converted his Skull Castle into a museum and hopes to earn an honest living. So, what is amiss? Reports have leaked out that a villain has escaped their incarnation chamber. Many dismiss these reports as rubbish and propaganda. Impenetrable prisons just aren't impenetrable if they've been penetrated! Thus, it's up to a world of heroes to get to the bottom of this mystery. After all, if a weakness has been found, the world could very well fall into the hands of evil once again! CHARACTER SELECT As you can see by clicking the link, I have created a character selection screen especially for this adventure (sorry, but too many images for this post to handle, lol). But, it is not just for presentation value. Click on whichever character you happen to be interested in, to view artwork, a biography and role-playing difficulty. For fun, I have included character specific MIDI themes. Enjoy! The selection of characters is diverse, but I realize that everyone isn't a gamer. Hopefully my descriptions and information will allow most players a fair chance. The World Map: Arcadinia Click on the Map for a magnified image. What would a role-playing game be without a world map? Obviously, it would be a role-playing game without a map. Interestingly enough, every character does not have to interact with one another. Interaction is your choice. General locations are provided to give the player an idea of what interaction is reasonable with their location limitations in mind. Of course, you can interact with whomever you want, but first you will have to travel to the destination, possibly interacting with others along the way. I have not included continent names, because they are not necessary. Notes: I did not include a location for Ryu because he is a wanderer. Sephiroth's location is unknown. This is the only character in which the player has the opportunity to be a true villain. However, he is just as welcome to be a protagonist. As indicated in sign-ups, the player has the option of starting at any position on the world map. So, Jill does not have to start in Raccoon City. Click on the above banner to visit Project Gamer's very own General Store. The accumulation of profit is generally important in the role-playing genre. Project Gamer is no different. For further details on how to acquire gold, read my mini FAQ down below. In the General Store, you will have the option to purchase various items, ranging from exclusive banners and avatars to items that will come in hand during your quest. If I receive enough sign-ups and support, more items will be added to the store for your purchasing pleasure. Notes: All banners and avatars appear smaller in the General Store than they actually are. The General Store site itself is not interactive, so when you wish to spend gold, just note purchased items in your RP in bold. If or when you purchase a banner/avatar, I will send it's link to you via pm. Mini FAQ Mini Games: You can try your luck with various mini games in this adventure. For your benefit, you can earn gold in some of them. 1)Dr. Evil Mini Game: On Dr. Evil's bio, there are two mini games. These are the two least significant games in Project Gamer. You cannot earn gold. They have just been included for fun. 2)Battle Pong On the Pong profile you will notice a link leading to a mini game. If you place among the top scores, you will earn a whopping one hundred gold. However, you must use your Otaku screen name. 3)PacMan This is a last minute addition to complete the Project Gamer arcade. After all, this wouldn't be complete without an excellent version of flash Pac. Located in PacMan's profile you will find the link. Similarly to Pong, if you place on the high scores top ten list under your otaku screen name, I will award you one hundred gold. 4)Super Smash Brothers: This will be the text-driven mini game. Read the following rules carefully. Although, characters cannot interact with distant characters under normal circumstances, they can do battle under this mini game. Each town is networked to the Super Smash Brothers arena. If you wish to battle, at the end of a normal role-play, you can post a challenge in bold. Here is an example: ex) Sonic challenges __ competitor(s) to do battle in the Super Smash Brothers arena. Challengers will accept in a similar fashion. ex) Link accepts Sonic's challenge. The maximum number of competitors allowed is four. During a two player battle, both combatants are allowed two role-plays for their battle. In the case of a three or four player battle, each competitor is allowed only one role-play. I will write the winner and award that person twenty gold. Remember, standard sparring rules apply. It should be noted that only one battle can take place at once and a competitor cannot spar/battle twice in a row. After all, if you only spar it defeats the purpose of having a plot. :) Acquiring Gold Each role-play is worth two gold. As mentioned, you can earn twenty gold by winning a Super Smash Bros. battle. By placing on the PONG high score chart, you bank one hundred gold. Lastly, by placing in the PacMan top ten you can also earn one hundred gold. Personal Profiles I will create personal profile pages for each person who participates in this game for you to view. Either that, or I will simply edit your character's selection page (which is most likely). I will include your total gold number, Smash Brothers record, and purchased items. Level Up? I was considering including a level up system to encourage participation. For instance, players reach level 1 after posting twice, level 2 after posting ten times, etc. What are your opinions? Would this be too much? Too complicated? Let me know. Sign-ups The DOOM Marine is unique in that the player who signs up as him must create a name, Bio, and age. As for others your sign up will look like this: Character name: Reason for choosing character: My Knowledge of this character Starting location of character It should be noted that I am considering limiting the number of players able to participate. Considering that I will create a profile for players, I ask that those who sign up plan to stick through with this rpg and show effort. Special Thanks to the otaku's very own Solid Snake for making every banner except for the Mario/Wario one. He will be participating in this rpg as Solid Snake, so that character choice is not available. My friend, Rob aka Vampire Ed, also helped a great amount. If anyone else wishes to create banners or avs for this game, just inform me.
  22.
Originally posted by AnimeLover You liked the ending of FFX? Well I beg to differ. I couldn't stand the ending, it just wasn't very good. But the love between Tidus and Yuna, as you said, was pretty cool. I can't believe that you liked the ending...the ending to FF7 was way better.
Yes, it definitely seems as if people generally disagree on this particular ending. So, I'm not too surprised, heh. I just happened to admire the artistic approach and overall presentation. After playing the game through and seeing both Tidus and Yuna become close and help each other smile through hellish times (literally laughing out loud in one scene), the emotionally charged ending just proved to be one of the more memorable for me. All of the characters were easy to become attached too. Final Fantasy VII's ending had it's moments, but focused too much on flash. Plus it was unclear and too inconclusive. Although, it is fun to debate what might have happened. I know that this discussion would be great in the Final Fantasy forum, but in the end, it's just personal preference.
  23.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel It's funny that IGNPS2 just now put that information on their page lol. The Sephiroth thing was first mentioned over a month ago (Just like IGNCube just announced Enclave on GC, when Nintendo.com has had it on their release list forever now). Oh well.
Yeah, lol, I'm really surprised that the game isn't getting closer media attention, considering that Disney will most likely (last time I heard) base a cartoon off the game. Don't get me wrong, it's being covered, but not as much as the usual monster releases. It's especially been neglected in certain publications that I've been reading.....
  24. Well, I gather that only guardian Nameks have the ability. I mainly believe this because Nameks are asexual. Thus, they're all related.
  25. Yes, there was some major confusion here, heh. As a bit of advice Angedramon, if you are unsure of what platform a game will be released on, simply check one of numerous gaming sites or pm one of the gaming staff. Usually, one of us will know. ;) The other thread on this, which is quite old, can be found by clicking HERE, if you want to read up on older information. The game will be shipping to the United States September 17th, now including variable difficulty levels and an appearance by Sephiroth. :toothy:
