I'm from that queensland group! LiamC2 is in Berlin now, unless he's still otakuing from there, it's just me left. But I still keep in touch with all of them! I'm in Brisbane by the way...

Oh, I just thought of something else that's rather funny - along with all the other effects of LSD, your perception of sound becomes rather distorted, music especially so - to the point of it being indistiguishable as music. Ask anyone, even if you could FIND your guitar - you'd certainly not be able to play it! (Hendrix was even more amazing than you thought.) *insensitive remark about the beatles being crap*

Acid aside completely, your friend sounds like a complete idiot. Which is fine, lots of people are, which is why we are friends with them - to help them out. He quite obviously hasn't read into it that much, many readily available non-biased texts offer a library of information on the pharmacokinetics. Harmless isn't the word we use for substances - you may come out the other end right as rain, but just look at what it does, and what it acts upon: do you really want to play around with something you have absolutely no understanding of? And think about it: no one has a clear understanding of our brains, so there are no absolutes, no guarentees. If you are under the age of (off the top of my head) 28 or so, your mind is still developing. Probably not a good idea to mess with it then. If you want to, please get as much information as you can, from legitimate sources. There are heaps out there. Secondly, I was dissapointed with your reaction to what your friend was telling you. I understand you want to disapprove, but you don't need to be rude or mean about it. Saying things like 'go kill yourself' and calling him gay are only going to make him become defensive. In fact, I'd go far as to say that he probably pushed his point harder than he wanted to just because of the way you reacted. Devil's advocate: one person presents a biased point, the other will want to oppose just to balance it out. I know you probably meant well, and I've made this mistake heaps of times before, but if you are worried about your friend the best thing to do would be to show how much the idea of him taking drugs scares you. Might seem a bit weak and girly to you, but it's manipulative - he might sit up and think damn, this is serious enough for you to let down your front and show you're scared. (I pull that card all the time. ;) ) What use are you as a friend unless you are guiding and supportive? The last thing you want to do is alienate him at this point, you don't want him to start hanging out more with those 'friends' he was talking about. Ok, enough with the fluffy talk. Here is some information about the drug scene. People don't make LSD that much anymore, it's a lot cheaper and easier to make synthetic compounds that go under names like 2ce and 2cd and 2c-whatever. They are similar and can be easily mistaken for LSD because of the hallucenations, but they are exTREMEly dangerous and they don't give you the same 'journey' feeling people talk about with LSD. Yes, it is true that some people say LSD can give you a lifechanging experience. (The other way of saying that goes something like 'so and so took it and was never the same again. It's all about context.) So the danger these days is that much of what is being passed about under the name of LSD is actually a synthetic version which frankly, you aren't going to know you're getting. There's no way to tell what it is you are eating unless you cook it yourself, and even THEN you can't be sure unless you're VERY professional about what you are doing. (Another tip: most illicit drug manufacturers AREN'T.) So yeah, sure, what if LSD is harmless? Are you sure that's LSD you've taken? Even some experienced drug users can't tell the difference, and a lot of drug users don't care - they will take 2ce etc as well. Anyway the long and the short of it is if you want to be irresponsible with your body, it is your body, but recognise you're being irresponsible and get as much info as you can. Here's another good tip: tell your parents. It's usually a good idea. And remember that the more your friends like and trust you, the more influence you will have over them. :)

I HATE pizza, and only eat it if I ABSOLUTELY have to, which doesn't happen very often. Shame for my b/f, who loves it - but we cook all the time just so I don't get caught in a spot where we have to have pizza. Our compromise? This recipe: Potato and Bacon Pizza 2 pizza bases 2 tablespoons olive oil 4 diced bacon rashers (rindless if you're a *****) 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced 1 tablespoon coarsely chopped rosemary 1/2 teaspoon dried chilli flakes 500g potatoes, very thinly sliced 1 cup grated parmesan cheese 1. bake pizza bases 10 minutes or until crisp 2. fry bacon, garlic, rosemary and chilli five minutes and remove from pan 3. fry potato until cooked 4. 1/3 cheese on pizza bases, divide bacon mixture and potato among bases, top with remaining cheese 5. five more minutes in the oven!
It's hard for me because we planned our life together after high school. Marriage, a few kids, the normal life.
HA! I did that when I was your age, (as some of you may remember...) then we broke up and I did it AGAIN with the next guy. Now I'm into my third relationship (and only my third) I'm starting to realise that I have no idea what is going to happen. But it took me six years to learn! I am still a complete and utter mess when it comes to breakups... I've been single for about a week since I was 14. So I really can't give you any advice on this particular subject... if you work it out, please let me know!

Tick - yes to the sarcasm. No, surprisingly I've never encountered a situation such as this. Feels odd to wirite about things you've never experienced. Thanks for the comment!

It's Independence Day... In America!
Ravenstorture replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in General Discussion
This 'Phelps' man you speak of and Christianity, Dubya Bush and the US, China and ... whoever is in charge over there - great people, poorly represented. But don't worry, I feel ya. I do agree Texas holds a pretty sweet barbeque, but please don't think you're going to walk into that title uncontested. Forget Christianity, barbeque is the religion down here. -
It's long
I completely disagree with that. It's not long - it gets faster and faster the older you get, and before long you're going to start to feel it's rather short.
...and it's never, as a whole, fun.
I disagree again... you probably just haven't experienced it yet, but it can happen... trust me.
My motto : Don't care what others think and live life so that your last words are "I regret nothing".
Great advice, I have something to add: no matter how badly you mess stuff up, if you like who you have become through it all - you will regret nothing. So don't be afraid of making mistakes, as long as you grow as a result of them.

Unfortunately I don't have time to write creative stories anymore. But I do still write, as much as I can - just to keep myself fit. I really, really hate rhyming poetry, most of it is pretentious wank - so I force myself to write some every now and then. Get your black berets on, kids! Push out the poisons You sound sad Didn't think that he would really be glad To see you go, just said it to freak you out you thought but you were wrong. Doubt seeded in your mind, it grew pulled the cracks in the pavement apart and before you knew ? he was gone, and the phone lay silent. Three weeks passed before you grew violent! Well done, a small voice says to you For holding on that long When we really thought we knew It would happen before he'd gone Good thing for him it didn't You are armed and dangerous But with emotions, not objects Words cut flesh deeper than knives can And I pretend I'm not hurt but you know I am
Lapsang Souchong+ - Gorgeous and smokey. It used to be one that I drank all the time in place of regular tea. Its an aquired taste, but I find it soothing.
Hear, hear! My favourite tea of all time. I have been drinking tea since before I stopped being breastfed, some people say it's why I have such strong fingernails, as I have it with lots of milk. Mum tried for years to get me to do away with my half teaspoon of sugar, and one day at age 9 I did - and never looked back. Usually I go for a good free trade ceylon, as i do put away far too much tea to spend excess money on it. I very, very rarely drink coffee, and sometimes I force myself to drink a bit of chamomile because I believe it's good for me. I cannot stand green tea and I cannot stand earl grey. I dream that one day, when I get a house I know i'm going to stay in for a while, I will expand my teapot collection.

Actually I was talking about Mitch and Piromunkie. I just noticed it today. I didn't realise Cloricus was banned... yes, I had a bit of a skim over old LA today... including me screaming at him to get out. I was so proud that we managed an RPG that actually ENDED. That is a very special thing.

What do you usually eat for breakfast?
Ravenstorture replied to Neptune's topic in General Discussion
Here is how to make a Chookie Egg: - Butter four pieces of bread heavily - Season with salt and pepper - Put them in a mug or soup mug and mix vigorously with a spoon to cut them up into chunks. (my mother calls this 'mongrelling') Now, you can either VERY SOFTLY boil two eggs and scrape into the mug and mix them up, this is the optimal way, as you get chunks of cooked egg in there too.. ..or if you don't have time.. The 'french toast' option: crack two raw eggs in and stir, then microwave for twenty seconds at a time until the egg is no longer raw, but still runny. Dry egg = bad chookie egg! Then, nom nom nom nom nom. -
Man I would so love to get back into an RPG, but really the only reason why I'm back here for a little while is because I'm on holidays. Past 22nd of July, I may not post again until the end of the year. I hope it's not going to be like that, but still I don't have the time required to do my fellow RPGers justice. I don't even have time to contribute to the creative writing section of the board these days... my how life has changed. Something I do miss is people knowing me... I almost feel shy posting these days, and the majority of what I post is completely ignored. Still, this is how it is now. Also I just found out two of my friends here have been banned somewhere along the way. Some of the others have left, and the rest have changed their names beyond recognition! *clings to Raiha* Ps. I take back what I said about missing being immature and outspoken... I just read some of my old posts. Incredibly embarrassing doesn't quite cover it.

I don't drink and I don't smoke anything and I'm incredibly caffiene sensitive, but I still have had more than my fair share of interesting moments. Here are a couple that I can get away with telling you about in this forum, as a few other people have said - I am perfectly capable of doing really stupid stuff in a completely straight state of mind. Snorting popping candy before a two hour long maths exam in year twelve. I REALLY don't advise this, ever, it it like getting snapped by a rubber band in the face every fifteen minutes. Another interesting time was after I had been prescribed the sleeping medication Stilnox, which you may have read about in the news. I took one and threw the rest of the packet away after that, I didn't get much sleep. The BEST time I can remember of substance abuse was staying up really late with my friends in year seven with four litres of coca-cola and four litres of vanilla ice cream to make spiders and playing monopoly - with a tab. Undoubtably the best way to play monopoly - especially when you're the only one with a tab. How I managed that I do not know. Winning is not a strong enough word to describe what I did that night (neither is cheating, I guess.)
learned
Haha.. see I can get away with it, where I am. But don't let it fool you! That's another thing I have learnt today. :p

Happy birthday everyone. Every birthday I have had in the last six years I have always got up, jumped on the net and screencaptured the bottom of all my forum's homepages where it says my name in the birthday box. There, I said it.

Using the powers of the internet for good, not evil! (but balance is the key ;) ) Nobody knows everything, and we all know something - so let's share the love. Post something you have learnt, whether it is just to store the tomato paste upside down in the fridge or that blood is thicker than water or whatever you like. Big or small. Something that you learnt today, or generally in a lifetime. Here's one: other people don't see you the way you see yourself! That's something I know in theory but it's a hard one to accept. Another one: brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, and kohlrabi (whatever the hell that is) are all the same species! (Brassica oleracea) They have just been selectively bred for different parts eg big leaves, big flowers etc etc. There you go - if you felt guilty for forumwhoring when you should be studying or cleaning the windows, this should be good justification for logging in. :animesmil Your turn! Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
Ravenstorture replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
HAHA this is so incredible... all the time I have been a member of these forums I NEVER watched/read any anime/manga... and now I do! And I can post in here! And I've NEVER posted in here before! *dances* I have just started uni and the bookshop there has a whole wall of it... so I bought Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo2040 box set (just finished it) and then the Chobits box set, which I'm half way through. Love em' both. I've seen a little tiny bit of Binchō-tan before and I would like to watch more.. but I think it might be a bit harder to get my hands on a legal copy. (I is not a fan of teh downloadz!) -
Hey I just found Devin Townsend and Strapping young lad, and I'm upset it took me this long in life to find them, frankly. Here are some tracks that make me cry: all hail the new flesh deadhead away earth day storm funeral And possibly many more.
Anyway, in general the real world is to some degree, what you make of it. Yes there are going to be things you can?t control, but at the same time your own hard work and determination can make all the difference.
What excellent advice. I find life is best and most comfortable when you put the most effort in. And it sounds like hard work but it really isn't - because it's like exercise, the more energy you spend, the more you have, and so I find getting out there and doing your best (how anime of me) makes life the most enjoyable. *waves to all the people who haven't visited RL yet* The only bad news I can pass on is that maturity is bought with mistakes - the bigger and more painful the better. ;) But it is always worth it in the end. Highschool can be crap because you're forced in with a whole heap of people you wouldn't usually associate with - but this is a learning curve in itself.

I believe both traits are independent of happiness, and really - our quest for beauty or intelligence arguably could be a disguised quest for happiness. Would anyone agree? However, as the question is to choose between the two... I would pick intelligence, as it is more useful to the collective than beauty. Sorry to be boring. Please note this opinion is formed by having ample stores of both traits - were this not the case, I'm sure I would have a different answer. (Well, obviously!)

Yeah I got no idea who is who on this damn thing anymore. Could probably tell by what they're saying, but on here, the only people that people listen to is themselves. Certainly was the case with me, anyway. I remember sneaking into the moderator forum one day and reading people paying me and harlequin out, saying the only way they could tell us apart was the colour of our posts. And I was so cut... :animesmil I don't miss much, except for being extremely immature and ignorant. And outspoken about it! Hey, I'm going to go ahead and claim that the literature forum was responsible for the third uprising of emo. Who's with me? I don't miss anything in fact. I've been here for seven or eight years now and by jove I don't think that much has changed at all.

Chicken crimpy shapes - totally addicted to them, to the point where i'd get dehydrated from eating so much salt. Other strange things I eat for a quick fix is - boiled fresh asparagus. I know I should steam it, but I can't be bothered. Baked beans on toast is fantastic. Chocolate ice cream topping sandwiches. A pool of ice magic frozen in the bottom of the bowl, eaten with a spoon. Rock salt - that you kind of have to pair with a bottle of water. Salad ginger. Boiled brown rice. Cous cous and soy sauce.

Year 12 hit me in the face like a brick wall, it had been a breeze up till then. I decided early on that I had to choose between my grades and my sanity - and chose my sanity. So I went down the coast every weekend and got messed up, and kind of drifted through the rest of year 12. My friend kate was the same, but she just stayed in bed and ate chocolate all year. We both did exceptionally well for what happened, but probably could have done so much better if we'd applied ourselves. For those of you who care to decipher this bit - we both got OP3's. That was three years ago. Now I'm starting my science degree, I'm wondering if any of the lethargy remains. We'll see how it goes. Oh wait, I forgot - We didn't do Heart Of Darkness, we did Wuthering Heights. Which I still feel like was an extremely painful waste of time.

That Feeling of IMPENDING DOOM.....
Ravenstorture replied to visualkei's topic in General Discussion
For me also it has been a while. But I used to get home from work earlier than my boyfriend did a couple of years ago, while the relationship was in the process of ending. I used to feel sick with fear of him coming home, just the tension and the anger and the dark mood, and I used to sit on the fire escape watching for him to come up the hill. When I saw him, I would hide behind the doorway for sometimes hours at a time, silent, while he went about the house as if I weren't there - when he knew I was, I was always in the same place. There were many months that passed where there was no civility in the household. One of my friends moved in with us to try and resurrect the situation - it's all fixed now, and we're very good friends again (I'm with someone else) but those thirteen months were some of the darkest of my life. It's amazing how wrong things can go sometimes!
