My sleeping patterns are varied mostly because of school. On 9am starts, I have to be up by around 4:30am if I want to have everything ready by the time I leave, at 6:45am. So, that really does affect my sleeping pattern a lot. On the holidays...that's when my sleeping pattern is most affected. I have little need to be awake at an appropriate time (except for work, which is pretty flexible), so I often stay up late. It just tends to happen that way, because I'm more of a "night person" or something.

Gay people seeking equal rights repulses you? I'm not saying that I agree with the whole street parade thing or not. But a certain minority seeking equal civil rights is not something to be taken lightly. I would certainly never have the gall to tell someone that they can't have their relationship legally recognized, nor would I have the gall to tell someone that they should quit seeking civil rights and simply shut up and put up with the crap they get.
Originally posted by Yasashiku Jeez....You people always make mountains out of molehills....It's no big deal :lecture:.....anyway..can we still talk about Inu-Yasha, even though it's a "Suggestions and Feedback" forum? I really hope we can...If not, I request that there would be a forum made for Inuyasha...It would make the site more fun....:excited:
How are we making a mountain out of a molehill? This is the Suggestions & Feedback forum. It is for discussing suggestions and giving feedback, not talking about Inuyasha. If you could talk about Inuyasha here, then what's the point of having forums with different subjects? Please, it's common sense. Secondly, you've clearly reregistered after being banned. Swearing at someone over AIM (and in a post of yours that I deleted here) is clearly a big deal. Nobody's making a mountain out of a molehill in that regard. I said that you are not welcome at OtakuBoards and I meant it; I'm not going to allow that kind of behavior here. Now your IP is banned as a result.

Psycho, please do not double post. It's against the rules, regardless of whether you're attaching something or not. If you need to attach more than one image, you will need to host your images away from OtakuBoards (on one of the free file hosting services).

I'm the same with art supplies; they cost a ton. Especially when you're using them up so quickly! Ack. I've spent thousands on art supplies this year alone. It sucks. lol Other than that...I once bought a $50 Pikachu plushie. I shouldn't have done that, but I couldn't help it. Pikachu is so sickeningly cute.
Originally posted by wrist cutter What are some of the rules that are specifically tailored to your site?
There are many. No double posts is one, although a lot of sites have a similar rule. But there are also many who don't. Another would be "No one word posts". Many sites allow that, whereas we don't. Another would be the rule relating to banner size limits. And yet another would be the set of rules that relates to what kind of stuff you can/can't link to. As I said, some sites do have similar rules, but not all of these rules are "common sense". They do relate to the preference of the site on which they're based.

We will never be adding hentai based forums at all. And we won't be loosening rules on signatures, either. The only thing we'll be doing is streamlining the rules and updating them. But definitely, we won't be making any compromises as far as some of our basic policies go.

Name: Clavat Bunel (Boo-nell) Age: 20 Origin: The Kelost Empire Allegiance: Ramza Batallion Rank: Sergeant (as per Z's recommendation) ^_^ Class: Knight (Whilst Knights are primarily adept with HP/physical attack capability, as well as the ability to equip heavy armor, they also posess reasonable magical capability, unlike other warrior-type characters) Weapon: Sword Biography: Clavat was born into a well-to-do family in the Kelost Empire. His family lineage was steeped in gold mining. And Clavat's father, Cerion-Gall Bunel, worked directly for the Royal Family on certain occasions. Bunel's mining operation allowed great wealth to flow freely into the Empire and it provided jobs for many of the upper class. Of course, the picture wasn't entirely positive. Bunel's gold mines also employed lower class workers who were paid very little and who were overworked in dirty conditions. Cerion-Gall Bunel became quite a tyrant, who punished workers that complained and became highly accustomed to an upper class lifestyle. However, when gold became scarce around the Imperial Continent, Bunel needed to find new sources. And he did; he began to mine the coastlines of other islands, regardless of any complaints from their residents. When residents did complain, they were often silenced. Originally, Clavat was unaware of most of his father's dealings. He went to an expensive school in the Empire and learned the fine art of fencing. But one day, as he happened to overhear a meeting that his father as having, he learned of the terrible exploits of his father's mining operation. And on that very night, he packed his posessions together and left home. He was 18 at the time. For a year after, Clavat made a reasonably comfortable living as a bounty hunter. Despite the connotations of such a trade, Clavat generally favored those who genuinely needed help. He wasn't going to succumb to the temptations of quick wealth like his father had. And finally, he met a senior member of The Ramza Batallion, a group who opposed the arrogant Kelost Empire. Clavat saw this as a chance to join a worthy cause, and he did. For over a year, Clavat has been involved in the Batallion's efforts. Occasionally, when the war dies down a little, Clavat returns home to "Clavat's Loft", a tree house that he built in Fortitude Forest, in an effort to escape the industrial world of the Empire. Interesting thread. ^_^ I'm kinda the same as you. Games were my hobby for many years and they are what led me to become a writer. Today, games are what continues to drive my career. I went from writing stuff at theOtaku.com, then moved on to places like CloudChaser (now XenGen...bleh), Gamer's Pulse and others. Now I write for N-Sider and Nintendo Gamer Magazine. So, it was fundamentally my interest in games that fuelled it. Years ago, I wanted to be a non-fiction author. But I really lost that desire when I moved into high school. I knew that I wanted to do something in the game industry and since I enjoy writing, I thought that game journalism was something I wanted to try. And it has led me to many experiences, including the time where I met Mario! That was one of the most exciting parts of the job...and that alone has made it so rewarding. The great thing is, I talk to Charles all the time (guy who does Mario's voice) and he's really become a friend in the industry. I've also developed friendships with people from game companies down here, as a result of my work. So, that has been one major benefit to video games without any doubt. I think that video games do offer many creative opportunities that the mainstream media are happy to ignore. Incidentally, I've written two articles about media so far...both have been more directed at online media. But I've taken a few stabs at the mainstream media as well -- and rightfully so.

Heterosexuals don't need a parade because they aren't an oppressed minority. I think there are more tasteful ways of pushing equal rights, but I digress. I would also say that religeous fundamentalists are far more "in your face" than homosexuals. The fact that some of them even campaign to get shows like Will & Grace off TV only proves that these people are pushing their beliefs on everyone else. But, then again, that is definitely another issue. It's not really related to the thread -- the thread is about gay marriage and not whether you think gay people are sinning. So let's be clear about that.

I don't think it's a glitch. Today I updated the counters, which also removes duplicate threads. If anyone has posted in a duplicate thread, then their post count has probably gone down a bit. Or up, depending on where you post. Updating counters is basically just a way of cleaning things up and fixing loose ends. I used it after the spamming today, to clean out all the threads, including older ones.
-
I recently updated the counters for the site, which may have affected your post count. But it wouldn't add posts unfairly -- if anything, it'd correct errors. Either that, or you're mistaken...or someone else posted under your account. *shrug*

This topic is absolute spam. Let me make a couple of points very clear here. 1) Cleaning up mass spam is the easiest thing in the world. Once I'm online, I merely click one button and I can remove all spammer's posts in an instant. They can sit there for five hours and post thousands of times if they like -- I can remove all their work in a second. 2) When this happens, please just ignore it. Cleaning up mass spam is easy -- cleaning up spam like this is what wastes my time. And deleting pointless posts like "you're an idiot, get off the boards" is a big waste of my time for sure. 3) Spammers want you to get all excited. Don't. Ignore it. That eliminates half their reason for being here. Once they understand that they're being ignored and that their spam can be removed in a second, there's little reason for them to waste their time. 4) Just because mass spammers arrive does not mean that everyone else suddenly has the right to begin spamming. Come on guys -- this is the sort of thing that dorky pranksters do. You don't need to let it affect you. And please...if this happens, do not IM me or PM me. I know it's unusual and annoying, but believe me, the staff can deal with it in a timely manner. Phew. Yeah. Please, ignore it all next time. It's no problem for us to deal with -- it's just a minor and temporary annoyance.
-
What a dorky way to pass the time. lol With the click of one button, I can prune every piece of spam on here. So much for an hour's work or whatever it was. Ahh, it hurts to be successful. ~_^

I agree. The thread is pointless. Much of what you see in there has no substantive value -- either it states the obvious (don't act like a know it all jerk on the Internet) or it makes some stupid assumption (you're a laughing stock if you use AOL). It's either blindingly obvious or inflammatory. And I don't need to remind you that it heavily violates our rules regarding swearing -- you know that "f**k" isn't acceptable. Let the censor work, don't block it. EDIT: By the way, the original copy & pasted message was obviously written by a highly disgruntled dork. Thank god these people aren't in the majority on the Internet. :smirk:

Edward Scissorhands is such a sad movie. I got a bit teary during several parts. lol The only other movie in recent memory that made me teary would be A.I. It's so sad/touching in several ways, and the ending is particularly emotional. My favourite ending to any movie ever, I think.

Wait a minute. Nobody was being rude to you -- I was being helpful. There's no need for you to be so rude. You were posting as though this was an Inyuasha forum. I merely corrected that and provided you with assistance. EDIT: Okay, you've just flamed me privately. Sorry, but that's going a bit far. lol

Jaggies is probably the wrong word. JPEG format tends to result in some colour loss and sometimes a "blurring" effect. GIF is 100% sharp, if it's optimised and if you're not using an image with thousands of colours.
-
Well, we did have a line of text on the site that said "All members must read and agree to the forum rules before registering." Basically, reading the rules is not compulsory -- I have no way of knowing who has or hasn't read the rules (though some obviously haven't). The point is, if you don't read them, you run a greater risk of being banned. Why? Because even though most of our rules are common sense, some of them are specifically tailored to our site. And so, some of them won't be apparent to you, even if you post with very high quality. With the next iteration of OtakuBoards, I can promise you two things. First, rules will be totally overhauled. We'll be rethinking them from the ground up and redesigning them for the new boards. But secondly, they'll be a LOT easier to read/understand and they'll have a greater visual presence on the boards. So, until then, we're sort of stuck in the middle. Luckily, we've been getting a flood of really high quality members lately, many of which seem to have read the rules with no problems. So, I don't think there's too much to be concerned about -- at least, nothing that won't soon be fixed.
-
Actually Chaos is right. GIF is superior to JPEG if you're working with less colours. I haven't seen anything from Subversive that uses more colours than a GIF could handle. Obviously though, it has to be an optimised GIF. If you optimise the file, it'll be very sharp and clear, rather than jaggy (like with JPEG).

It's more a question of whether or not such a feature should be a priority for us. We are already paying a small programming team to work on theOtaku.com with us and we'll be working intensively to ensure that v7's features are all up and running properly. So, while I can understand the desire for a feature like this, it's sort of difficult to implement right now. As I mentioned earlier, not a lot of people put their true location in the Location field, which would make such a feature relatively ineffective. So that's something we'd have to look at more closely if such a feature were to go ahead right now.
-
What you're suggesting would be incredibly difficult to do, given the fact that we'd need someone to code something like this from the ground up...and to make it compatible with OtakuBoards' software. It's possible that we could create a simple geographical list, but even then it would be difficult because few people actually write their true location in the Location field.

I think this underlines that age-based driving tests should be compulsory. My feeling is that once you're over a certain age (say, 65 or so), you should be required to take a small driving test every one or two years, in order to keep your license valid.

o_O; Um, Yuyuhako25...this isn't an Inuyasha forum. It's the Suggestions & Feedback forum. You use this place to suggest improvements to the site or to give feedback to the staff. It's important to read forum descriptions so that you understand the topics being discussed inside.

If you'd like to discuss Inuyasha, you can use the Anime Lounge forum (which covers all anime that isn't listed underneath in a specific area). We generally only add a new anime forum if the demand is very heavy. Also, we don't plan to add anymore forums 'till v7 launches later in the year.
