OOC: I think some of you are taking some rather large liberties with the situation. :drunk: Anyway... Several large, red lights began flickering on the sides of the missile. Steam began erupting from various exhaust vents around the silo and an alarm was auidible to all inside the complex. Iota, Reverb and Nova were making their way up the flights of stairs, in an effort to help Warlock. But the sound of the screeching siren alerted them to something potentially much more dangerous than a single cyborg; a missile that could be aimed anywhere in the city. Proteus was disengaged, apart from his backup systems. Despite this, he could feel the vibrations that were travelling through the missile's expansive hull. The entire casing began to shake violently, as hot exhaust gasses began to explode from the underside. And then it happened. A single, massive blast. The entire Communications Tower shook, causing the other reploids to nearly lose their balance. Warlock and Massacre paused briefly to look up at the ceiling, which began cracking under the pressure. Hot gasses and flames exploded around Proteus. The heat lapped at the soles of his titanium feet, as the enormous missile reluctantly initiated its launch from the platform. It began moving up through the shaft, slowly at first...and then picking up speed. As it did so, its edges smashed into various support beams along the way, causing several to become dislodged. The entire tower continued shaking, as its foundations became less and less stable. The flames and exhaust of the missile were flooding the shaft below. And where there were elevator exists and open blast doors, boiling hot thrust exhaust escaped and exploded through various corridors in the tower. Reverb, Iota and Nova immediately knew that there was nothing they could do. The missile had launched and the tower felt like it was about to collapse. Reverb opened a communication sequence with Warlock, in an attempt to encourage him to retreat from his position. But due to the massive interference caused by the missile, which was only metres away from their position, all communication was disrupted. Reverb: Come on! We have to help Warlock! Nova: But what are we going to do?! Reverb: I don't care if we have to JUMP off the damn roof! We've GOT to hurry! We don't have much time left! Reverb began sprinting up the staircase, flanked closely by Iota and Nova. Finally, the group arrived on the same floor as Massacre and Warlock. Massacre, in a slow and clumsy way, was attempting to crush Warlock with his massive fists. But Warlock was too agile. Despite this, none of Warlock's blasts were having any effect on the monstorous cyborg. Reverb cupped his hands to his mouth and attempted to yell at Warlock. Reverb: Warlock!! We gotta get out of here!! NOW!! Warlock briefly looked over at Reverb and nodded. He gestured for the others to continue to the roof. As they ran, Nova wondered where Gigabyte, Tracer and Revolver had gone. Why would they just let him go like that? Finally, the group emerged on the roof of the tower. They stood amongst the tower's primary power generators, waiting for Warlock to arrive. But they didn't have time to think... Gigabyte: Ahahah! Look who's 'ere! Tracer: They'll regret messing with our affairs... Revolver: Heh heh, we'll see how tough these Hunters really are! Reverb, Nova and Iota turned around. Standing on the generator behind them were three Replimasters, weapons at the ready. Reverb: Oh man... Just as the three Replimasters jumped down onto the roof, part of the roof itself exploded in a massive fireball, which stretched across the sky opposite them. And then they saw it; the massive missile...rocketing directly upwards into the clouds. Reverb noticed a lone figure on one side of the hull... Reverb: Is that...Proteus?! The Hunters turned and looked. A massive sense of shock was quickly overcome by determination. The three Replimasters approached. Reverb just hoped that Proteus would survive...though somehow, he felt doubtful.

Erm, basically it was started a while ago...it was a page within theOtaku.com (theOtaku.com/forums). And when it moved to v2, it became OtakuBoards.com. OB has been here ever since in one form or another. Adam started theOtaku.com and OB. So that's probably the most basic overview. I'm sure others will want to fill you in moreso. :)

I don't believe that Christmas has lost its meaning whatsoever. If anything, I think Christmas has always had a lot of meaning. Even if you don't celebrate the religious aspects, most people still recognize Christmas as a time of giving, sharing and kindness to others. Sure it's become commercialized...but everything is commercialized nowdays, even the Church itself. So yeah, I don't think people have forgotten what it's about at all. It's just that perhaps all the marketing and hype has become too loud to avoid noticing it.

For all its many faults, I use IE6...and I've never noticed any real problems in terms of compatibility with OtakuBoards. So, I guess I'd recommend Internet Explorer for browsing these forums. I don't know if this is a browser issue though...but the code that the boards use is the same for everyone. So if everyone is getting a different result, then I can only assume it's a compatability issue of some kind (or a problem with browsers/PCs).

People are stupid, what can I say. I'm not much of a piercing fan myself...my partner has a belly button ring though. That's kinda cool. ;) But yeah...I doubt I'd ever get pierced myself. A small private tattoo might interest me though.

The only thing I dislike about Lulu is the way she bends down after each fight...and lets her chest cascade over the front of her dress. lol It's totally pointless..and I think it cheapens her as a character, given her intelligence and "seniority".

Okay, once again...I'll set it out as clearly as I can. lol The word otaku, in the context we are using it, basically means "hardcore" when it comes to anime/manga type stuff. Of course, in Japan...it can be considered offensive, depending on context. And there are a variety of ways in which the word is used. In western culture, otaku is used quite often...and for the most part it is used to describe someone who is a hardcore anime/manga fan. And so, that is why it was used on theOtaku.com and such. It's a very basic and clear way of describing what the sites are about and waht they relate to -- if you're familiar with anime and you see our site come up on Yahoo! or something...you will immediately have an idea as to what it is about. Anyway, yeah...I'm surprised that this thread is still alive. I can understand why some people would want to know the meaning (and the context in which we use it) though.

I can't believe they are making a Tekken movie. Where's our FFVII? Hehe It seems pointless to me, I mean...there are so many more games out there with really substantive plots. Mortal Kombat was okay...but only barely. So I hope they do justice to Tekken.

I have no problems if it comes to dating someone that is outside my race. In fact, I often find that to be an attractive quality in the other person...in the sense that it makes them interesting and different from me. So yeah, I think different cultures (in dating OR friendships) is cool, it adds an interesting mix to life. :)

Proteus woke again. His HUD (which flickered with static every few seconds) indicated that his internal power generator had been damaged. His entire body was running at around 80% capacity. And now, he noticed that he'd been strapped to the side of the missile with large pieces of steel that were fitted with large bolts. He looked up and saw a deep red sky. The roof of the tower had opened up while he had been sleeping. And now, zero hour was approaching... After a few moments, Proteus heard more footsteps on the steel superstructure above him. He also heard voices. ???: You have any idea what's going on here? ???: Nah, Dr. Karman told us that we have to stall someone...I don't know why. ???: You two are idiots! We're launching a missile with a prominent Hunter attached -- we need to stop the other Hunters from rescuing him. ???: Do they know he's here? ???: I don't know. I hope not. My sensors indicate that they are several floors from here...but we'd better hurry if we want to catch 'em! The trio continued talking as they came closer to Proteus. They didn't seem to notice him as they passed, but he saw them. Unlike Massacre and Gunner, these three were different. They weren't cyborgs. They looked like Replimasters... Proteus used what was left of his energy to zoom in on the three of them. He quickly scanned their faces and compared their physical details with his internal data libraries. Sure enough, these three had been spotted before. Gigabyte, Revolver and Tracer. Replimasters all three. But where did they come from? Proteus thought that the Replimasters were destroyed a long time ago...before Warlock left... Proteus knew that the missile was due to launch at any moment. He also knew that these three Replimasters were not easy fights; the Hunters would be stalled long enough for the missle to successfully launch. Armed with this inevitable situation, Proteus shut himself down almost completely -- leaving only his backup systems online. He needed to conserve energy if he had any chance of surviving the missile launch... OOC: And the missile will launch...you'll just have to see what happens after. ;)

Well, we already have an IRC chatroom. Even if we had a "private" room, there are two problems. 1) Non-Otaku members could chat. 2) Otaku members often use totally different names in chat -- thus making it impossible to identify anyone without asking. What we need is something that is fully integrated into the vB. So if that can be done, I'd welcome it...but frankly we have more than a dozen more important things to do with the boards before that kind of thing happens.
-
Truth be told, I'm not happy with theOtaku.com's current chatroom. If we could create a chatroom where ONLY OB members can get in, then that's possible. But how on earth could that be done? I don't know any way of doing it. At least that way, people would NEED to become OB members before chatting...which would in turn encourage more OB membership.

As you get older, I think you are a lot less impaired generally. You're able to make better decisions based both on maturity as well as experience. I don't know if there is anything I said I wouldn't do that I have done. If I say I'm not going to do something, I'll rarely go back on that (like smoking or something). For the most part, it's more a case of saying "I can't imagine myself doing that". It's funny how in only a short period of time, your life can be totally different to what you had expected. Or at the very least, you've had experiences that you never even dreamed of before. So, yeah...in my case it's more about doing things that I just never thought I'd do -- either positive or negative, but mostly positive.

Since I don't use the skin myself, I'm unaware of any problems it may have. As always, I recommend PMing shift with any concerns.

Yeah, that does sound very weird indeed. Just be sure never to let a friend of yours unravel a fire hose and try to put out an invisible fire in the middle of a crowded street... ...I've had my share of weird nights. lol

I'm just saying that you're telling everyone else they don't know how to critique, thus implying that you do. But you're kicking up as much of a stink as anyone else. So let's not be too hypocritical. And that, as they say, is the end of the discussion.

Oh for god's sake...will people READ the announcements! They are there for a reason, you know. Second of all, this belongs in Suggestions & Feedback. I'm going to close it now though, as a reminder never to post such a pointless thread again.

I'm really not sure what my favourite Zelda game is. They're all so good! I have a fondness for Zelda II...if only because it was so very strange and dark. It was a very special game. But I have such fond memories of all the Zelda titles. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was absolutely brilliant. I believe it was the pinnacle of 2D Zelda games. But then, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are undisputed classics. Ocarina of Time is so subtle and beautiful...it's just a wonderful world to explore and be a part of. Majora's Mask is somewhat like Zelda II...in the sense that it is quite dark and unique. I have many fond memories of it. So...blah. I guess I'm no good at answering this question. lol

This game just looks better and better the more I see it! ^_^ We can now start to see why Link has been designed in this way...to allow for this kind of emotion. I'm very pleased with these new shots...and I can't wait till Zelda comes out here. ^_^ Of note, if it hasn't yet been mentioned...Link can now target multiple enemies with his Boomerang and apparently several new shots show him "conducting the wind". When using the boat, you will have to simultaneously conduct the wind and move the boat...so it looks to have some interesting additions.

I never once assumed that this game was a simple kiddie game. Why? Because it's made by Nintendo. Nintendo have consistently proven, for the most part, that there is always another layer of depth. Super Mario is probably the greatest example. Of course, if you look at the box art and don't play the game...you will never understand how the game truly feels to play. And so, you're not really qualified to judge it. I always recommend trying something new when it comes to gaming...if you normally play violent games, you should try something like Animal Crossing. The unique gameplay may interest you. :)

All skins are 6.1 :) My Otaku and the signature addition were the main changes for our move to 6.1 :)

Regarding the resolution thing, just as a side note...it's not always realistic to design a site for all resolutions. Especially if you're developing boards like these. If you use images for categories, to some extent you have a "locked" width. So it depends on the design. For the current skin, we use one pixel wide gradients...which can provide a custom graphic effect, but can also be stretched to any size. The category image is only small...which allows it to be viewed in any resolution. I suspect that the Times New Roman is an accident and not deliberate. The site should never display text in TNR. So I hope that'll be fixed.

You guys don't know how to critique? And you do, Mystic's? Sorry, but you're behaving like a hypocrite. Everyone has the right to their opinion. I honestly did not expect everyone to like this skin, because frankly it does not reflect OtakuBoards in its design. But I also knew that SOME people would prefer it, because they don't like how OB looks in the first place. It's true that OB does have a certain feel to it...even though this skin is very different from v5, both were fairly colourful and "homey" looking. So that's understandable. That is precisely why this isn't a new default skin...it's merely an alternative. I always tend to produce bright, colourful skins (as I mentioned before)...and so, I felt that some people may not always like that style. So yeah, I think people have given appropriate reasons why they like/dislike it. That's fair. Just because you don't agree with them doesn't mean that you have to get nasty, because that's what you're doing. Oh...and Shift, please change the Times New Roman if you haven't already done so.
