1.
Originally posted by DeathKnight Oh and all those snipers killed who they thought was the enemy, not making a statement to the world. They did what they were ordered, not what they felt like doing. So I dont respect them for killing when someone else told them to ;)
Right. That makes a lot of sense. Now we're getting into nothing but stupid testosterone-based posturing. It seems to me that this thread is going to keep going around in circles like this. Right now I'm not seeing anything valid being put into the discussion; people have already stated their views several pages ago...there's no need to keep up with this stupid attention seeking crap. I don't have time for it and I'm sure many others don't also. Anyway...as I said, we've had pages of discussion on this subject already. If anyone wants to know what people here think, they can simply read through this topic. I certainly don't want this to get any more thick-headed than it already is.
2. I'm glad you were being sarcastic; your political bias would get an absolute mauling. ;) Anyway, now that I've read the article...all I can say is that it's unfortunate, but not unexpected. Government frequently screws people over to "keep the peace". I don't know if I agree with every bit of intelligence being shared with the public...but in some cases there's no excuse to do otherwise.
3. I agree with CWB 100%. If she doesn't like you because of Anime...then she's not your friend.
4. Gokents, you could use the same cover up type story about Bush 41. He "covered up" incidents that occured during the Gulf War. But anyway...yes, of course lasers can hurt you. If they are powerful enough. A "laser pointer" is very weak. But there are much more powerful industrial lasers that can cut through metal, glass and other objects.
5.
Originally posted by MysticDarkElf i somewhat agree with james but as i said earier, you dont know him, they SAY he has no connection with the victems but ya know the usa's police, half they time its just bs. ..ya just never know.. but if they are random killings, and he is caught, let the law decide. im not one to really stink my nosr in to thatk idna business, and u all know how nosy i am.. heh well, that really all i have to say, im goign ot bed, peace out
Who says I have to know him? And what difference does it make whether or not he/she has a connection with the families? This person is a cold blooded murderer. I don't care who he/she is...what relationship he/she has with the families or whether or he/she thinks that what they are doing is the right thing. The fact is, they are killing innocent people. Just as I have zero respect for Osama bin Laden (for doing exactly the same thing), I also have zero respect for this individual.
6. This guy/girl being a good killer is what earns him/her respect? I can understand why you are saying that. But I have no tolerance for someone who would shoot a 13 year old boy. This murderer is a coward by any measure. I don't like cowards and I don't like people who go around shooting children especially. That's all I can really say on the matter.
7. No need to close this thread. Debates about dubbing are absolutely stupid and immature. Some people are going to enjoy dubbed animes and some are not. No point arguing about it. You can continue to use this thread to discuss the anime in question, but please...keep it civil.
8.
Originally posted by Dovemon i asked if ne1 wanted to talk not if ne1 wanted me to read the rules
Well, you're going to have to read the rules anyway if you want to stay here. So you might as well get to it if you're bored. ;)
9. Exactly. I never get the message. There is absolutely no reason why you'd need to post twice within 70 seconds. I mean, the limit is there for a reason afterall. Spammers will always spam, but the 70 second limit is VERY useful for mass spammers. Only today, we had some guy register called "Mr. Jiggly Arse" or something. He posted once...and because of the 70 second delay, I was able to delete his account and ban his IP before he could post again. Moderators who were around during v2 will remember how frustrating it was for us to have to clean up ten or twenty posts that were posted in rapid succession. I think it's better to retain high security at the expense of people who post incredibly fast. :)
10. You can post it in Otaku Lounge. :)
11. Hehe, yeah I know. But c'mon...everyone knows what a Palm Pilot is. ;)
12. Devon, you're really going to have to clean up your posts if you want to stay here. As you can see by the other members at this site, we really do expect a good level of spelling, punctuation and such from members. As far as GTA on Xbox...I've heard the rumors, but I don't know what to make of them. Sony has lost some of its key franchises over the last few years (in terms of exclusivity deals)...and so to me at least, it would seem that Sony should do everything in its power to hold GTA close. Also, it would seem pointless to release GTAIII on Xbox after 2004...by that time, we'll probably have GTA V or something...so that doesn't seem very logical.
13. Ahh, thank you coolkam. I was just taking out the dictionary to prove the point that you just underlined there. If you think "fantasy" means dragons, swords and magic...then you're wrong. Fantasy is a very broad term. If the graceful, surreal architecture in Final Fantasy X is not "fantasy"...then I don't know what is.
14. You've never heard of Palm Pilot? Then you aren't the high tech capital of the world, my friend. ;) Anyway, I don't know about this. I suspect that the demand for such a forum would be very, very small. If you really must discuss Palm OS stuff, I guess you can use Otaku Lounge. I really can't think of anywhere else where it'd be relevant.
15. So far, FFXI has not been performing well in Japan. And there is no reason to suggest that it would be any different in the United States; market research performed during the years 2000 and 2001 have indicated that over 50% of American gamers "aren't interested in going online with their consoles". That number rises when you ask people if they are willing to pay a monthly fee. Of course, this is a seperate issue to the question of how this game could actually be implemented. Even if it can be implemented, it is still a big business risk. So, if they can't implement it at all...then there's no chance of a release. However, Square are still saying that the game will launch in mid-2003 (probably around June) in the United States. So who knows; I tend not to entertain rumor and speculation, I just wait for the official word.
16. I'm using Explorer and I'm not having any of the above mentioned problems. I'm sure Shift will read this and make the appropriate changes, but I won't hold my breath.
17. I agree...I think he is putting that $22 per month above your friendship. Sounds to me like he was using you.
18. Oki doki. Name: Voivode Dracula Official Title: Count Dracula of Wallachia & Moldavia Age: Unknown (Count Dracula rose to prominence during the 15th Century. So by this logic, he is at least 300 years of age -- but he could easily be well over 500 years of age, if Wallachian legend is correct). Appearance (natural state): Count Dracula wears hand-crafted Romanian robes when in his natural state. In his natural state, he can be seen with long white hair that is wound tightly over the back of his head. When in his natural state, Dracula appears as his biological age (in other words, he looks like a very old man). Appearance (rejouvinated/public state): When in public (amongst mortal human beings), Dracula takes on a more pleasing image. He wears a grey 18th century suit, carries a cane and wears a matching top-hat. He also posesses round tinted spectacles, so as not to give away his identity to a potential vampire hunter. However, Dracula also wears an elaborate silk ruffled shirt (which can be seen through his jacket and vest); at the head of the ruffle is a brooch with Dracula's native Wallachian coat of arms engraved on it. Biography: Voivode Dracula became the ruler of the principalities of Wallachia and Moldavia during the 15th century. It was during this period that the Turkish forces attacked what is now known as Romania, in an attempt to overthrow the leadership of the area. It became apparent to Dracula that he would not be able to defeat the Turkish armies by force -- his army was too small to adequately defend the two aforementioned territories. So, Dracula enacted a plan. When the first wave of Turkish troops approached the rolling hills nearby Dracula's western castle, Dracula ordered his forces to kill the approaching army. When the first wave was defeated, Dracula ordered that five hundred large wooden posts be situated around the western side of his castle's property. The posts were several meters high and the bodies of the slain Turkish soldiers were brutally impaled on the ends of the various posts. When the second wave of soldiers attacked, they were unprepared for what they saw; row upon row of bloody bodies, hanging in mid air in grotesque and sexually suggestive positions. The army fled. The Wallachian and Moldavian forces had won. This event actually made Dracula a popular leader in these principalities. However, the event also seriously scarred the Count. He began to walk through the fields of bodies at night; he ordered that they remain and not be taken down. After several months passed, Dracula began dining amongst the rotting carcasses. He would sit at the end of a long table and have his servants bring him food and drink, as he admired the emaciated figures around him. Within several years, Count Dracula became a recluse, hiding from the world around him. Visitors to his home were rarely seen again and rumors began circulating that these people had been captured by Dracula's minions and taken to secret hideouts in the Transylvanian Mountains, where they were tortured for days on end and slowly drained of their blood with rusty and primitive surgical instruments. Rumors also spread that Dracula actually drank the blood of his victims. Though this was never confirmed by anybody, it became the subject of increasing speculation after a visitor to the Count's home actually did return. He was caught in Wallachia five months after visiting the Count's home (a castle with the title "Vania" -- Vania is the actual home of Count Dracula; it is where he lived day by day. It is much harder to access than his other castles). However, the circumstances surrounding his capture were bizarre; he was seen in an alleyway with a naked woman. His mouth was covered in blood and the woman, despite having a deep gash on the side of her neck, appeared to be alive. The man was captured by authorities and sent to a nearby insane asylum, where he was reported to have attacked several other inmates. The attacks frequently revolved around cannibalism -- drinking of the blood, eating of the soft organs or ritual dismemberment of the victim. This man was not the only one; several individuals had come from the Count's home and had displayed similar traits. And so, fear gripped the Transylvanian countryside for several hundred years. Over the decades (and centuries), various scientists and historians compiled lists of data about the vampire (specifically about Dracula as well). However, several misconceptions became clearly apparent to those who had hunted vampires. For example, there is no evidence that Count Dracula could not walk in daylight. In fact, daylight did not hurt the Count -- but it did weaken his supernatural abilities. Weapons: Dracula does not posess weaponry. He does not need weapons for his purposes; the only tools he uses are primitive surgical devices, which are believed to be used for bizarre demonic experimentation. Abilities: Dracula's abilities can be divided into two categories. Supernatural Traits and Limitations. Supernatural Traits: He is potentially immortal He survives on the blood of others He has the strength of twenty men He can shape-shift into the form of a wolf or a bat He can appear as mist or elemental dust He has no reflection in a mirror He casts no shadow He has hypnotic power over his victims He can turn victims into vampires He holds the ability to hurl magic balls, spears, and other violently painful implements at his enemy. Limitations: He may not enter a household unless he is invited in He loses his supernatural powers during daylight hours He must sleep on the soil of his native land He can cross running water only at the slack or the flood of the tide He is repelled by garlic and holy symbols (crucifix, holy water) He can be destroyed by driving a stake through his heart and decapitating him
19. Can I apply? :)

Nobody has come close to reaching the highest rank, anyway. :)
21. Also, there are a number of very cool features with DivX for GameCube. It is said that two full-length movies can be fit on one GameCube disc. Also, FMV can be mapped to polygons (in place of a texture). So you could have a building in a game where the walls are mapped with a looping FMV...giving a pre-rendered feel, but in a real-time environment. Very cool indeed. ;)
22. Go outside and dig a hole in the ground. That proves you exist. Why? Because your actions have impacted another object. Just look at pollution and things like that; if mandkind didn't "exist", then our waste wouldn't be affecting the Earth in the way that it is. So...of course we can prove that we exist. Just as we can prove that dinosaurs existed; we leave behind evidence of our existence. Whether it's a fossil in a rock, or a Coke can on the beach.
23. Stolen Fayth Temple? Where is that? o_O;; And what is that button on the wall, at the very northeast corner of the map? (Where the guy tells you that you "can't go back there"). I know how to get rid of him, but I don't know what object I need to activate that thing on the wall. But anyway, what you're saying is that I should get a bit further in the game...and then start levelling up?
24. Hm, well...it was really up to you to know that this would happen. I mean, you always have to read the fine print, as they say. But if he is continually using the account (even though he's run up a debt)...you should end the account if you can. As for payment...I think he should pay the difference, even if you did offer it to him. He's the one who used it -- he should pay. If he refuses...then I don't really know what you can do. If he's a true friend, then he's sure not acting like one.
25. Yeah, we don't allow smiley request threads...but you can feel free to PM me if you have a suggestion for a certain smiley.
