It is unlikely that Super Moderators would have a custom title, simply because you already have one. Your title is important, because it helps new members to identify you. When people start hitting the highest Otaku rank...I'll think about custom titles.
2. Uhh...we tend to have our own "official" awards each year. :) Yeah, didn't Sephiroth do them last year? And when are we going to have them again, anyway? - Desbreko

A suggestion

Well, we have had competitions before. And occasionally we do hold them. Actually, you might notice the Event Arena forum. That forum is specifically designed for special events and competitions. As you can see by the blurb on the forum, we are preparing to start Otaku Big Brother II soon -- the first version was an unexpected success. In a way, OBBII is a kind of competition...and the winner will probably receive some sort of recognition on the site. So yeah, we don't have competitions very often...but we do sometimes have them. theOtaku.com has also held its own competitions and endorsed competitions by our advertising partners. We've had everything from Anime DVD competitions to competitions where you can win an Xbox, GameCube or PS2. So all I can really say is that you should watch this space. Every now and then, we hold some kind of event. :)
4. Yep, well...as I say, the PC release is still some time off (next year sometime). But when it's available, it'd be very cool to set up an official OtakuBoards clan. ;) In FFXI, you can have a battle party of something like 6-8 people. And you can join two parties together...and have something like 16 people. I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but I do remember that you can have very large fighting parties. Imagine all of us fighting one huge boss! *drool*
5. Yep, if you look at the bottom of the page in a forum, you'll see little post indicators. They'll tell you what the envelopes represent. :)
6. Stardust, this is spam. And you should know that. Please use your signature to advertise/display information like this; please don't clog up the boards with this kind of thing. EDIT: Looks like AnimeLover got here before me. :)
7. Hard to tell that you speak English by that post. lol Please clean up your spelling/punctuation etc etc... Speack? o_O;;
8. This game is easy...and very short. And when I think about it, quite boring too. I really feel that this game was overrated from the start. The story is pretty poor...the gameplay is okay (but the fixed camera angles are really a bad choice for this sort of game, because it is more reliant on action than puzzle solving). So eh, I don't know. I must admit, I think I regret buying it. It was nice the first time though...and it had some fantastic moments. But overall, it was a relatively dull experience.
9. I totally disagree with that. I've had friends who I've not at all been attracted to...and would never even want to do anything with. I mean, you could use that argument about anything. You could say "if I locked you in a room with another human (male or female) for your entire life...you'd eventually go at it like rabbits". I can't speak for other people obviously...but with all my close friends, I see them more as a family member than something else. What you're suggesting would be like having sexual tension between a sister or a brother lol...that's the kind of friendship I have with close friends. So, yeah...I hope that's making some sense. o_O
10. Of course a guy can have a friendship with a girl without having any sexual tension. Don't you think it's possible to have a close friendship with someone who you are not attracted to?
11. I can only speak for myself in this situation. Basically, I have some close friends who I share a lot of things with...and some friends who I don't. It all depends on the individual. Some men act really macho and proud...and neglect to have any deep friendships with male friends. So I guess I feel sorry for those people. But at the same time, I wouldn't want to generalize. It's all down to the individual. Some people are happier expressing their feelings...some aren't. *shrug*
12.
Originally posted by Jesus Chicken I know that happens everwhere way too much, but when you think about it, what's really bad is that being gay is considered an insult. The faact that many people's prefferred sexualtiy is suppossed to be bad. I'm not gay, and I don't pretend to understand it. But the people who do understand it, and who are gay, must be respected, not mocked for it.
That's a very level headed opinion. I'm happy to see that kind of sentiment being expressed here. If you think about it, descrimination on any grounds is simply wrong. I mean, if you tease someone about what they wear for example...well, that's one thing. But if you tease them for who they are...that's something very different. Every human being has the right to be respected, no matter what their own personal feelings/race/gender is. But I think that's pretty self evident to most people here. It is an ignorant few who don't accept that reality. But anyway...as far as this thread goes, it's been an interesting discussion. As much as I'm inclined to think that we shouldn't judge a whole (or most) of a gender simply because of their gender...some generalizations can be made. I think when it comes to relationships, men do tend to be much more superficial...at least initially. And unfortunately there are a lot of bad men out there who give other men a bad name. In truth, I think the bad men are in the minority. It's just that the bad men are talked about and publicized more than the "good men". If that makes any sense...
13. I don't think five is too many...when you consider the fact that they've been working on some of these games for two years or more. If I were you, I'd keep my eye on Zoonami (company made up of former Goldeneye/Perfect Dark staffers). I really can't wait to see what their new secret project is...
14. We are indeed planning a namechange feature, but first we have to decide how to implement it. As has been said, if people are always changing their name...it gets too confusing. So we might make a rule that says you have to display your previous screen name in your signature or something...so that people don't get too confused and forget who you are. :) EDIT: By the way, this should not be in Otaku Lounge. It should be in Suggestions/Feedback. I'll move it.

Hated Music
Originally posted by wrist cutter I don't like any genres. I just like good music, which is so rare.
I agree wholeheartedly. :)
16. Hm, I don't know how big 4.8 is (relatively speaking)...but I hope everyone's okay over there. :)

18. I don't mind people talking about the AFL. It's only the same as talking about any other sport here. So it's fine, as long as people don't give one word answers and stuff. I don't really follow the footy that much...there is only one thing that interests me about the Grand Final this year; MARIO. lol Mario's face will be on the big screen in the MCG and he'll be advertising Super Mario Sunshine. Charles Martinet (the voice of Mario) will actually be there talking as Mario. Pretty cool, eh? ^_^ Okay...anyway...I think I'm too much of a Mario fan...
19. A few years ago, there was a large fire in the Dandenong Mountains (Warlock might remember it)...and even now, you can see a huge "scar" over the mountain in the distance...where the fire destroyed all the forest. The fire was burning over Christmas time...and I was at my aunt's house on Christmas day. Every few minutes, a huge helicopter would fly overhead and dump water on the fire. It felt like it was very nearby (it was actually only a few miles away). And we were told by the authorities that we could be asked to evacuate at any moment. We even got to the point of packing some things away in preparation. But luckily, they managed to get control of the fire. So yeah, it was scary...but if you have fair warning, you should be fine. It would be a lot worse if you were suddenly caught with the fire near your house or something. Hopefully they'll get it under control soon :)

My Dairy After what seemed like forever, I finally managed to board the train bound for the Donut Plains Station. For some reason, the train was almost empty! I guess that word of those plants has gotten around... Oh well. I've been on this train now for a few days. It's been everywhere! Over hills, under lakes...I didn't know they had train lines that ran so far. Madam Aroma is accompanying me on this trip. She spent the entire time complaining about her lack of shoes (she lost them when we entered the warp pipe at Mushroom Inn). She even tried to get me to paint her toenails! What a nerve! I wonder what happened to Link and Yoshi, too. I think Link can take care of himself, but Yoshi... On my travels, I've heard that several villans have gathered together somewhere. I don't know who, but it doesn't sound good. I've only ever had to face Bowser! But I suppose that if there are many villans grouping together, it's possible for many heroes to group together also...
21. I agree. FFVII's mini-games were my all-time favourites. I absolutely hate Blitzball. The concept was great...but unfortunately the execution was utterly horrible. The movement is very static, the turn-based nature of the game removes any excitement that the sport could (and should) have had...and the game is severely limited in scope. Had it been a real-time, action-based game...that would have been much more fun. As it stands, it's nothing but a boring chore to be waded though.
22. One of the most interesting aspects of a truly good RPG is that it isn't linear. I mean, if it were truly linear...then what's the point? Why not just write a fanfic? The difference between an RPG and a fanfic is that you can take on the persona of your own character...and you can actually interact with the story and change its course in some ways. One of my favourite RPGs that I participated in for a while was Meteo City v2 (where's v3, Rico? ;)). It was great because everyone was doing their own thing...and in some ways, we were each changing the direction of the story quite a lot. We were dictating many small changes...but we all understood where the main thread of the story was going. So there was no need to PM each other or whatever...and we were able to suprise each other with new outcomes and ideas. This is what a good RPG truly is. You shouldn't really have to PM someone or AIM them...in an effort to fix something that has "broken". If you are all truly reading what's going on...and if you take your time, you can think of ways to creatively move things forward. In Project Gamer, Desbreko and I did this a little. Our characters were running towards the Inn...and I hadn't mentioned what was going to happen. But Desbreko found a clever way of improvising. And then I posted and did something similar. The point is...the RPGs lately have been so formulaic and people are forgetting how to really roleplay properly. If you remember to keep people's characters in context...and if you keep the story going in a logical direction, you'll be fine.
23. One thing about Auron; why does he have his hand cradled like that? I mean, at first I thought it was broken or something...and I thought "Yeah, that's a unique idea for the character". And then I saw him use it in battle... So is there actually a point? lol

e-Reader

That looks great...but I personally think the whole idea is a but redundant. I mean, I can understand the usefulness in say...Pokemon Trading Cards. But what's the point of having these other games? I would have thought that Nintndo could find a better delivery system for the other NES games. *shrug* I guess that to me, it just seems kind of pointless having to scan a few cards to play one NES game. Especially given that you actually have to purchase the E-Reader device itself. But having said that, I'm sure that Nintendo has other plans for it as well. So yeah, I'll be interested to see what else Nintendo has planned for it. I probably won't buy one until there is more available for it.
25. We used to have GTA on school computers...which was fun. But I didn't really get into the series until GTA2. GTA2 was just so much more...it was really more like a 2D version of GTA3, in terms of the freedom and variety in missions. So yeah, GTA2 was probably the game I remembered most. I didn't know how well the game would translate into 3D...but it obviously translated pretty well, despite some annoyances (like the aiming from within the car, etc). Personally, there's only one thing I want them to fix with GTA:VC...and that is the driveby shootings. They controlled so poorly in GTA3...I could never really get the hang of them. I mean, I can use them when I need to...but I always found those missions to be more of a chore than anything else. If they make it more fun the next time around, that would be a big improvement. ^_^
