1. This is true, but only to a minor extent. From other articles I've read, the development of the brain is only damaged based upon continual, extended play...meaning, hours and hours per day. The average gamer, who might spend an hour or half an hour a day on games, probably has nothing to worry about.

Crikey!

Yep...he's also a big fake (either that, or he has a serious drug problem). I guess it just amazes me that someone could really be so stereotypical...you never see actual Australians behaving that way. lol Perhaps he's an alien. That would explain a lot (including his apparent love of straddling crocodiles).

Without having seen the movie, I can tell you one important thing: You have learned nothing about Australia via this movie. I'm so glad that Mr. Irwin is now "public enemy no. 1" here in Australia...
4. I think very few of you know anything about kangaroos...
5.
BG, I feel like she is my g/f.
But she isn't, is she? As much as you hate that your friend did this...there isn't much you can do about it. I can sympathize with your situation though. There's nothing worse than a friend going after someone you like yourself.
6. I think there's just a kind of stigma with video games. I mean, my younger sister plays a lot of strategy style games on the PC. She really loves them. I think a lot of games on console are unfairly geared towards males...games like Tomb Raider, for example. Having said that, games like Zelda and Mario are really geared toward all kinds of gamers. And I really think that's a good way to go. More recently, games like Perfect Dark and Resident Evil have been including female characters in leading roles -- characters who aren't as superficial as Lara Croft...and who are actual warriors with intelligence and skill. I think we need to see more of that in gaming...and remove some of that silly "eyecandy for males" stuff. Game makers could make a hell of a lot more money if they targeted women more with their games.
7. Anyone can be the "commitment type". I didn't think I'd be the type of person to like a commitment...but come August 1st, I'll have been in a relationship for three years. And I'm enjoying it more now than ever before. So it has nothing to do with me being for or against commitment...it's just that I found the right person. :)
8.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve This isn't the first time I've moved my head back and forth...
Why must you torture us so? Tsk tsk. Ahem. Anyway...yeah, it was interesting...but I've seen it a million times before. o_O
9. The whole Yoshi thing is really interesting. I definitely think that fruit has a lot to do with it. If you look at screenshots of the marketplace in Super Mario Sunshine, you can see different townsfolk selling various fruits in stalls. I suspect that the fruit plays a big role with Yoshi.
10. Ah yeah, being away from the one you love is tough. I know how it feels. It surprises me that your friends are surprised that you haven't cheated...lol Cheating is the best way to ruin the relationship. Best thing you can do is call her on the phone (if you can), or send her a letter or a card...or something like that. :)
11. Ahh yes, same here, Asuka. :) My dad is a big gamer. He and I used to play Super Mario Bros. and Zelda constantly. :) And now, I tend to play a lot of multiplayer stuff with my brother and sisters.
12. Oh Hybrid...could you make it ANY more obvious? lol
13.
Originally posted by Silent Warrior LOL. Haha. 2 words good enough for you? :D It's actually 8 words. Grrr.
It's not only the number of words, it's also the relevancy of the words. If what you say has nothing to do with the thread, then it's pretty much considered spam. I don't enjoy responding to people directly in threads because it tends to break up the discussion. But on some occasions, it's necessary. Once again, I would ask you to read our rules (which you have already agreed to be registering) before you continue. Then you'll have a better idea of the kind of post quality we want to see. :)

15. Heh, funny stuff. Shinobi, please try to improve your post quality a little further (spelling, grammar, punctuation). :)
16.
Originally posted by Rick Hunter Alright time to share! My mom and I were waiting for the cable man to come fix the wretched box -__-! Well the cable man shows up six hours after he is suppose to come and my mom being the clean freak she is wants the house to smell good. Well turns out she sprayed the can of Pledge instead of the can of Air Freshner. When she goes to open the door she slips on the floor right infront of the cable guy not once but 4 times the cable guy makes the excuse that he has to reschedule thinking my mom is drunk or something! Its not till after the cable guy leaves that she realizes she sprayed the pledge instead. ;) That was really sad but funny at the same time! :) :rotflmao:
whoa...that was...really good. lol That would have been very funny to see. Ehehh. Let me see...I can remember one really funny thing happening a few years ago. It still freaks me out even to this day. My younger sister was walking infront of me down the stairs, talking to me at the same time. I stopped at the landing and she kept going. And she kind of turned to talk to me and then tripped on the third last step. She went head-over-heels and ended up sprawled out on the floor below. At first I was really worried; I thought she had really hurt herself. And then, suddenly...she sat up and burst out laughing! Her face was all red...she thought it was hilarious. LOL I'll never forget it...it was one of the funniest things I've EVER seen. I helped her up...and she was still laughing...she laughed for about ten minutes straight. lol Oh no..now I'm starting to laugh just thinking about it...
17.
Originally posted by Char! Well it seems like I'll have to post my question here to get it noticable. When I get the answer we can delete it all and move on. Have the attacks James talked about in the sign-up already happened and everyone's ignoring it, or are they to occur sometime later in the game? For Xeshiur's sake, I hope they're in the future rather than the past.
If you read my last post (or the one before, I don't remember) you'll see that the attacks in Oleron have indeed occurred. But they aren't necessarily the only attacks. However, they are the catalyst for increased tensions between Oleron and Verdun. Luca looked up and saw that the sky above was deep crimson. The clouds were stretching over the horizon, as if to grasp the world like the palm of a hand. He could hear shrill screams, too. As he looked around, he saw many figures frantically running in all directions. He couldn't see their faces, though. They were all faceless. Some were bent down on their knees, screaming for mercy. Others were cradling smaller, lifeless figures in their arms. And others still were just standing there, looking up at the sky...crying and screaming desperately, as if to call for urgent help. The world was blurry and Luca couldn't make out very much. His surroundings looked vaguely familiar, as if he'd seen them before. But now, the once beautiful white buildings were black with ash and were engulfed in flames. Luca held his hands over his ears and fell to the ground. The screams were becoming louder. He couldn't stand it. They were so loud, that they made his entire body shiver. And then, it stopped. He opened his eyes and saw Rasanak leaning over him, his eyes welling with tears. Rasnak: Luca!!! You're alright!! Say something! Luca's eyes rolled around in their sockets slowly. He wasn't sure if this was a dream or if he was really awake. He could hear the rumble of heavy vehicles passing nearby. And he could smell very faint industrial fumes. Luca: Rasanak...what's going on? Rasanak lifted Luca's head a little. He reached into his backpack and produced a small glass goblet. The goblet was filled with a glowing red liquid. Rasanak: Luca, here...drink up... Luca raised his head a little further and drank from the goblet's cool glass rim. The red liquid tasted strange. It didn't taste like a specific flavour...more like an experience in time. It tasted like a happy memory... Luca spluttered a little and blinked. Now he was wide awake. Rasanak: Hey! You gave me quite a fright there, buddy. You feel okay? Luca nodded. Rasanak: Heh, good. Lucky I brought some Regen with me. Didn't think I'd need it, but it's always good to be ready for emergencies... Luca stood up shakily. Rasanak held him around the waist, so as not to let him fall over. Luca: Rasanak... Rasanak: Yeah? Luca looked directly at Rasanak. His eyes looked different than before, like he'd seen a ghost. Luca: We have to get to that Air Hockey game quickly...we don't have much time. Rasanak scratched his head. Rasanak: Not much time, eh? Why do you say that? Plenty of time 'till the game starts... Luca: No, not much time...we have to get there as soon as we can. I'll explain it to you on the way...
18. I actually saw Austin Powers 2 at the cinema...before I saw the first (I had never seen the first; I ended up watching it on VHS a while after I saw the second at the movies). When I saw the second one at the movies I was surprised at how funny it was. lol The jokes were all no brainers...but some of the expressions/situations/sayings were hilarious. I definitely prefer the second one. I'm not sure how this third one will be...some of it does seem to be heavily drawing from the previous movies in terms of jokes. I'd really like to see some new, fresh jokes. I'm sure it'll be pretty good, regardless...but probably not as good as the second one.
19. This is something that really belongs in Suggestions. If you want to post your story here and it exceeds maximum post length (and ONLY if it exceeds maximum post length), you may double post. However, if you have a post that doesn't exceed maximum length, you must edit that original post and include more story. Hope that helps.
20. Luca and Rasanak were standing at the foot of their apartment building. The streets directly beyond were like the veins of a giant beast, and the various vehicles travelling around them were like the blood vessels. Luca and Rasanak needed to stock up on weaponry before attending the Sky Hockey game. As they walked toward a nearby Air Taxi Terminal, they both saw a large poster on the side of a building, advertising the Sky Hockey game. The game was due to start later that night. Luca: Oh man, it's on tonight!. Rasanak sighed. Rasanak: Ugh, yeah...man, we're going to miss it! Luca stood there, deep in thought. How could they make the game by tonight? A game as large as this would surely be sold out already. Luca decided that they'd probably have to sneak their way in. Luca: Well...we'll just have to sneak our way in! What other choice do we have? Rasanak: Oooo...Luca breaking the law! Rasanak faked a shocked expression, which was met by one of Luca's common eye rolls. Luca: Hey, I'm serious! I wouldn't do it normally, but this is to protect the Chancellor's life... Rasanak smiled. Rasanak: Yeah, I know. ^_^ Luca: The real question is, how do we get there? It's not exactly close to us, afterall. I don't see any Air Taxis anywhere... Rasanak looked around. Normally the sky was full of Air Taxis, but he too saw nothing even resembling a taxi anywhere nearby. Rasanak: Hmm...we need to rent a car, I think. I know of a good place near the desert...it's on the outskirts of the city. It'll take at least a couple of hours to get there by Hover Bus, but I'm sure they'll have something for us. Luca nodded in agreement. Luca: Okay, let's go!
21. I'd like to give a warm welcome to Lady Katana, as a new Moderator on OtakuBoards. She will now be moderating the Pokemon forum with Nerdsy. Congratulations, Lady Katana. :)
22. Oops, I forgot to close this. I recommend using the other thread to continue the discussion.
23.
Originally posted by Desbreko Sure, which address should I send them to? Edit: Oh, wait a minute... That picture of the imposter was the only subscriber-only picture...
Umm...ok, well, if anymore subscriber-only pics come out, could you send them to [email protected] ? OtakuGamer might be dead, but we have other plans up our collective sleeves. :)
24. Regarding Sonic, I can say that there are currently no Sonic games planned for PlayStation 2. As has been said, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Mega Collection (which even includes Sonic CD...my favourite Sonic game of all time) will be making their way to the console. I believe that we'll hear about Sonic Adventure 3 either at TGS later this year or at E3 next year. I don't think an announcement is too far away...but it won't happen this month.
25. Shines (the little sun things) are exactly the same as Stars from SM64, to my understanding. Though it's possible that getting more Shines not only unlocks levels, but extra moves as well... Oh and Desbreko...since I can't buy Nintendo Power in Australia, would you be interested in emailing me some of that artwork? ;) I'd be more than happy to discuss my plans with you (as to why I want the art).
