[i]Luca lay in his bed, his eyelids fluttering. His head veered to one side and then sharply flicked in the opposite direction. His face was covered in beads of sweat, with thick strands of hair matted over his forehead.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/n-sider/images/Dream1.gif[/IMG] [i]Luca's head stopped moving. His eyelids fluttered violently. His chest rose and fell faster...[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/n-sider/images/Dream2.gif[/IMG] [i]His mouth opened, as he breathed faster and faster. His hands were gripping the sheets...[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/n-sider/images/Dream3.gif[/IMG] [i]Luca sat up. His eyes were wide open, staring forward into the darkness. His entire body felt numb. He ran a sweaty hand through his hair and sat on the side of his bed, elbows resting on his knees, looking down at the ground. His apartment was spacious and modern. The hard wood floor was covered in all sorts of post-modern furniture; curving black leather chairs with brushed aluminium legs, titanium laser lamps and holographic communicator units among the many objects. Next to his bed was a small side table with a flat video phone sitting on it. Luca looked over at it and just as he did so, the flat, square-shaped panel opened up; the upper half silently folded itself back into the "On" position. Luca rubbed his eyes. He still felt a little confused. The plasma screen flickered to life. On the other end was a familiar face. He too looked as though he'd woken from a horrible dream.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Hello? Luca? You okay? [i]Luca faked a smile and nodded weakly.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Luca:[/b] Yeah...I'm alright. Just had a dream, that's all. Why are you calling now? It's... [i]Luca glanced at the timer on the wall-mounted HUD (heads up display).[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Luca:[/b] ...3am? [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Rasanak:[/b] I heard you making noises...I [i]do[/i] live next door, remember? [i]Luca felt more awake now. He noticed that Rasanak too, looked as though he'd woken from a horrible dream. His long hair looked moist and his face was a little white.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Anyway, I wasn't sleeping too well either... [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Luca:[/b] Oh? [i]Rasanak nodded.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Yeah, but it's nothing important. Hey, do you feel tired? [i]Luca shook his head.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Luca:[/b] Nah, not tired at all... [i]Luca noticed a mischevious grin spreading across Rasanak's face.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Well, how about we take a little trip? What do you say? [i]Luca sighed. It was only a few years back when he and Rasanak had been studying at Vin Kartia University. And back then, they would be awake at all hours of the night, sometimes visiting bars or even fighting monsters in abandoned areas of the city. But over the last couple of years, Luca felt like he'd grown up a little. He didn't feel like going out at all hours of the night anymore. Too much danger...too many chances to lose money. And yet, Rasanak hadn't changed. He was still like a child, in some ways. He still had a sense of adventure and he was still a risk taker. Luca admired that quality, even though he didn't always like it.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Luca:[/b] Where do you want to go? [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Why don't we take a trip to X-Ion? [i]Luca couldn't help smiling. This was [i]so[/i] Rasanak.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca_Avatar.gif[/img] [b]Luca:[/b] Are you sure? It's expensive... [i]Rasanak smiled and tapped the screen with his finger.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/img] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Wakey wakey! You haven't been out anywhere exciting in months! I promise you, you will enjoy it. We can delay our monster hunting tomorrow, can't we? Then you can sleep in. [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Luca:[/b] Yeah, I guess. [i]Rasanak grinned.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Oh, you sound so excited! ^_^ [i]Luca rolled his eyes.[/i] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca_Avatar.gif[/IMG] [b]Luca:[/b] Yeah, yeah...okay, we'll go. Give me half an hour to get ready and I'll meet you at the elevator in the hall. [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak_Avatar.gif[/img] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Okay...and c'mon, chin up...your dream can't have been [i]that[/i] bad! [i]Luca nodded and waved his hand over the screen. It responded by folding itself shut once again. He couldn't go like this. He stood up and peeled his sweaty clothing off, as he walked toward the shower. The showers in Verdun were different from anywhere else in Gaia. Luca walked into the bathroom and pressed his thumb against a pad on the wall. As he did so, a small holographic square appeared next to him, levitating slightly from the floor. He stepped onto the square and stood still. As he did so, a holographic blue box appeared around him. The box began to solidify and small black pours appeared on its walls. Suddenly, the pours above his head began to expel water. Luca moved his hand over the wall, making the holographic shower float out of the bathroom and into the loungeroom. He waved his hand again and the television screen on the wall flickered to life. And there he was, watching the Vin Kartia World News while also having a shower. The pours above his head closed off and as they did so, another set of pours behind him opened up and began spraying water over his back. Luca watched the news on the plasma monitor. The monitor displayed a virtual news reader with a cropped box to her left, displaying video of Main Street in the city. Main Street was filled with crowds, even at 3AM.[/i] [b]Newsreader: [i]Crowds on Main Street are bigger than usual tonight, as one of the city's premier businessmen, Rika-Sun, has offered a mysterious reward for the person who can catch the most monsters. Nobody knows why Mr. Sun is offering the reward, nor does anyone know exactly what the reward even is. But as Mr. Sun himself said, "The reward is beyond anyone's wildest dreams!". Exciting stuff! The biggest monster hunting stores in the city are absolutely full of shoppers, looking for the latest in weapons and armour. So if you're headed into town tonight, be prepared for some major delays! Stay tuned to VK World News -- the ONLY news channel in the city.[/b][/i] [i]Luca rolled his eyes. Tonight of all nights, they'd be going into an even more crowded-than-usual city. Although, Luca suspected that X-Ion would be pretty empty, if the reward-mad citizens of the city were too busy buying supplies. The shower had done its job and a small indicator on the holographic wall flashed with the words "Done". Luca waved his hand over the wall and the shower silently floated back to the bathroom. On the way, it dried Luca completely. The walls dissappeared and Luca stepped down from the holograhpic square floor. It dissappeared as he did so. Luca put on his clothing and gave his hair a quick run through with his fingers. Now he was ready. He made his way through the loungeroom toward the front door. He suspected that Rasanak was already waiting at the elevator...[/i]

[color=royalblue]The first thing I have to explain is really important...I guess it's mostly just a reminder. If you are in Verdun, you're going to be using lots of technology...the surroundings will be very futuristic. But if you're in Oleron, it will be much more traditional...everyone needs to remember the context of each environment. In Oleron, you'll be using magical devices and medieval technology... Just needed to remind everyone of that -- the RPG will start soon.[/color]

[color=royalblue]Well, the first RPG of OAW was actually "Final Fantasy XII: Online Another World". So yeah, it's based on Final Fantasy. ;)[/color]

[QUOTE][i]Originally posted by Aries [/i] [B][color=royalblue] I see where you're coming from James, and I agree. There is a point to taking it out, and now everyone can say the pledge without not believing in it, but I know for one, that I will still say "under god" every time. [/color] [/B][/QUOTE] [color=royalblue]Yeah, exactly. And that's totally fine. :) I mean, I'm saying that it should be "legal" to allow people to put in whatever they want. Under Allah, under God...or nothing at all. But if the default pledge doesn't contain anything, then it's not offensive to anyone...and you can add what you like to it. ^_^ I think that ultimately, it makes a good compromise...and at the same time, allows people to have their own freedom of speech. Jamvis: Please clean up your posts...in this thread in particular, they are very poor.[/color]

[color=royalblue]It's okay, you can use this thread to discuss things about the RPG if you want to. Also, I'm actually considering doing something unique...in the sense that I might use the sign up thread to actually explain different technical parts of the RPG itself (like Sky Hockey), so that I don't need to clutter up the RPG itself with technical explanations. ;) Just another reason to subscribe to this thread...or at least to bookmark the page with all the URLs. ;)[/color]
-
[color=royalblue]TN makes a really good point here. The words "under God" were actually added in the middle of last century..and thus, they weren't even a part of the original pledge. I think that both sides have a point. On the one hand, it is a tradition...but on the other, it [i]is[/i] effectively unconstitutional. I mean, taking the words "under God" out of the pledge...who really cares? I think a lot of people are just nitpicking. If you want to add those words yourself, you can. And if you want to say it privately with those words, you can. I know it seems like nitpicking on the part of the judges who said it was wrong...but really, I can see where they are coming from. If you have "under God" in the pledge, then really, you are not seperating church and state. I don't think that this ruling is pushing beliefs on anyone...rather, I think that the addition of that line is actually far more an invasion of free speech -- because it doesn't really allow for an alternative (at least, in an official sense). So I think that the "official" pledge should have no references whatsoever...so that it is totally relatable to every member of the population. But those who want to add their own words to it should be able to (so in a church for example, you should be able to actually have the words written in or whatever). I hope that made sense. o_O[/color]

[color=royalblue]Yeah, I don't mind if people use them as avatars at all...I was just saying that they are tiny because they are used as icons in the RPG. ;)[/color]
-
[color=royalblue]I spend a lot of money on fashion...I think mainly because my parents always bought me good clothes as a child. And now with three other siblings, they don't tend to get that kind of treatment...but now that I'm old enough, I'm kind of used to buying good clothing. I have three main expenses: clothing, video games and music. ^_^ They are the things which I spend the most money on. lol[/color]
-
[color=royalblue]Yeah, stereotypes suck. My little sister is into a lot of "chick stuff"...but at the same time, she loves playing PC games...she's really into web design...and she's REALLY into gizmos (stereo systems, portable electronics...anything "tech" like that). So yeah, I don't think it's fair to put girls into a stereotype...as every person has their own hobbies and interests.[/color]
-
[color=royalblue]okay, I think there is some confusion here. These are not "avatars". You don't use them as OB avatars. You use them within the posts in the RPG to express who is talking at the time. That is [i]why[/i] they are so small. They needed to be that small otherwise they would look too big on the page. They are an icon that you use within the RPG and NOT an OB avatar...is that clear enough? lol I thought I had demonstrated what they were for earlier... Anyway, yes...Justin, I'll fix yours...but it will significantly delay the start of the RPG.[/color] EDIT: Okay, Justin's character icon is fixed. For those who didn't get in -- I'm sorry, but I did choose as many people as I could realistically fit. It took me a while to get all these icons done...so please, try to limit the whining. lol Also, you should never assume that you will get into an RPG automatically -- if the creator decides to choose individual members, then you simply must assume that you [i]won't[/i] get in, so that you aren't dissappointed. Once again, I think it would be advisable for all those participating to bookmark the page where I provided a full list of character icons. Either that, or copy and paste the URL for each icon into notepad or something..and have notepad open whenever you post, so that you can copy and paste the link each time a character talks. I have a few other little surprises to show everyone when the RPG starts -- hopefully it'll start in a day or two.

[color=royalblue]Exactly. Israelis are not native to the land which they currently occupy -- the land [i]was[/i] originally Palestine. So, Israel is effectively the "invading force" here. They should quit building new settlements -- it's like rubbing salt into an open wound. They need to define their border and [i]leave it at that[/i]. No more of this settlement crap. If they did that, they could leave the rest of the land for the Palestineans...and it would be much calmer than it is now.[/color]

And there you have it. Not only an avatar for each character, but also a seperate link so that you can bookmark this page and easily copy & paste the link for each character whenever they talk. :) I picked as many people as I could (based on sign ups and diversity of characters), though characters weren't as diverse as I'd hoped...but I think we got a reasonably good cross section of character bios and such. The RPG will start soon, so watch out for it. :)

[QUOTE][i]Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud [/i] [B] [color=indigo] I feel that the only true way to resolve this conflict is for both group to force themselves to live amngst one another.[/color] [/B][/QUOTE] [color=royalblue]That would only make things a lot worse. You'd have a neverending bloodbath if that were the case. Already, there are Israeli settlements in Palestinean areas...and already you have huge levels of violence. The best thing to do is to give the Palestineans their own state which they themselves can run and control; with their own laws, government, police etc etc. They don't [i]want[/i] to live under Israel. The only solution is to give them a seperate state. Once that is done, the violence will drop [i]very[/i] sharply. Especially once you really seperate the two entities.[/color]

[color=royalblue]Much better, Amphion. :) I think that once we start to recognize that (in this situation) both sides are at fault...then and only then can we start talking about how to find a solution. Clearly, it's going to take some huge and courageous compromise on both sides to achieve something useful here.[/color]

What the astronauts of Apollo 11 REALLY found on the moon....
James replied to Fall's topic in General Discussion
[QUOTE][i]Originally posted by Char! [/i] [B] [color=teal][size=1]lol! Man, you rule... Anyway... To [/color][/size][color=royalblue][size=2]James:[/color][/size][color=teal][size=1] I too think that people who support complete rubbish don't have a whole lot of hope. You say that the very [i]suspicion[/i] of Apollo 11 being a hoax is rubbish. But consider this: A few years before Apollo 11 "landed," many people, many intelligent, well-spoken people considered ever landing on the moon complete rubbish. Plus, the Soviet Union and the US were fiercly competing for who would get there first. [/b][/quote][/color] [color=royalblue]Yes, but you are talking about two VERY different things here. There is a massive difference between suspecting that a technological feat cannot be achieved and the suspicion that the Government has concocted a massive plot to fool the peoples of the world for no good reason. See the difference?[/color][quote][color=teal][b] Is it not even [i]possible[/i] that just maybe, just [i]maybe[/i] the US tricked us all to claim the moon first? Isn't there even the [i]slightest[/i] possibility of doubt in your mind? I think that anyone who is so closed-minded that they can't answer yes to those questions is beyond help. [/color][/size]:babble: [/B][/QUOTE] [color=royalblue]No, there isn't a possibility. It's not about close-mindedness. It's about [i]knowing[/i] the facts of the situation. I'm not at all close minded, but by the same token, I am not satisfied to give in (in ANY way) to these pointless conspiracy rumors...when the evidence is so undeniably ample in favor of the moon landing, that you'd have to be a complete idiot to actually think for one second that there [i]was[/i] a huge conspiracy. I understand where you are coming from, but the [i]suggestion[/i] that it didn't happen is as ignorant and bogus as actually strongly believing that it didn't. Anyway, this thread has reached its conclusion, I believe. Continued discussion is only going to lead us around in circles.[/color] -
[color=royalblue]It's nice to talk about something within the safety of your own country -- it's just not realistic for the Palestineans to use a military force against Israel. If Israel didn't want to be attacked by suicide bombers, they [i]should never[/i] have started occupying/conquering land which was not theirs. Now, I'm not favoring either side -- but the only way to solve the problem is to be [i]realistic[/i]. Both sides are equally at fault here. If Israel wanted to stop the bombings, they would simply have to remove all of their settlements and withdraw to the original 1967 borders. If they really cared about their people's lives, you'd think that they'd make that simple concession. It's ridiculous to think that you can occupy another people's land and face no consequence. Imagine if the USA started building its own towns and cities in Canada. Do you really think Canada would just sit there and do nothing? I mean, maybe that's the best way to understand the situation -- to consider how it would be if two other countries were involved. It annoys me that a lot of Arab media is so pro-Palestinean and a lot of American media is so pro-Israel. It annoys me because [i]nobody[/i] is looking at the situation for what it really is. Both sides are acting foolish -- the Palestineans are frequently shooting themselves in the foot by bombing and the Israelis are doing nothing but being bratty and arrogant. But I suppose that is to be expected when you have two incredibly stupid leaders running both sides.[/color]
-
[color=royalblue]Amphion, that post is absolutely full of holes and ignorance. I don't have the time for an in-depth response right now, but I will be more than happy to go through the issue momentarily. I'm sure someone else will step in before I do, though.[/color]

[QUOTE][i]Originally posted by Fly-T [/i] [B] It's how I do things if I dont like I'll simply sock you you pi** me off I'll simply shoot you [/B][/QUOTE] [color=royalblue]Heheh...nah, you won't. ;) That's the thing. Most people who talk like that are just cowards (Eminem would probably cry if he broke a nail). Ugh, I rarely use the word "poser" (it's so over-used), but could it be any more appropriate in this situation?[/color]

[QUOTE][i]Originally posted by DarkOrderKnight [/i] [B]This thing is going to be awesome James. Good idea. By the way, how long did it take you to make all of the avatar's? [/B][/QUOTE] [color=royalblue]I haven't made 'em all yet (because I haven't chosen final players), but it will take a while. I'm going to have to make the avatars a little bit smaller too...they're too big currently. Also, I'm really hoping that those who sign up are [i]really[/i] committed. I don't want the RPG dying out after three pages. -_- I will try my best to make it interesting from the start, though. :)[/color]
-
[size=1]I'll be picking people based on their sign up -- so I'm trying to get a reasonable variety of characters/personalities. The more unique your character is, the better chance they have of getting in. Now I'll just quickly demonstrate the avatar system I'm thinking of using...[/size] [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Luca.gif[/IMG] [b]Luca:[/b] Hey, Rasanak! [IMG]http://www.itsmysite.com/j-otaku/images/Rasanak.gif[/IMG] [b]Rasanak:[/b] Hey, Luca! [size=1]There's a really basic example. I'm thinking of hosting every character's avatar and all you'd have to do is copy the link and put it in an IMG tag each time a character talks. So yeah, it does require more effort...but those who are willing to really put into this RPG might be interested. :)[/size]

[b]Char Number:[/b] 50 [b]Name:[/b] Luca [b]Age:[/b] 19 [b]Location:[/b] Vin Kartia [b]Bio/History:[/b] Luca has lived in Vin Kartia since he was five years old. Before that, he lived in the coastal town of Nara-Zemir. Currently, Luca lives in a tall apartment building within the heart of Vin Kartia. His best friend, Rasanak, lives in the same building. One of Luca's biggest passions is [i]Sky Hockey[/i], a sport which originated in Verdun countless years ago. Verdun is the only nation which plays Sky Hockey, as it requires highly advanced technology to work. Outside Sky Hockey, Luca travels all over Verdun's enormous Desert of Solace with Rasanak on the hunt for Monsters. This is both Luca and Rasanak's primary source of income. [b]Personality:[/b] Luca is a bright and cheerful guy who loves his Sky Hockey and Monster hunting. Outside of these pursuits, he has very little in the way of other interests, although one of his dreams is to travel the world and explore the unexplored. Luca was brought up in a very stable household and as such, he has never suffered any major problems in life. Even though this somewhat contributes to his general cheerful disposition, it also makes him slightly naive when it comes to life experience. [b]Weapon/s:[/b] Luca carries a long, thin staff made of pure titanium. The staff is technologically wired to Luca's DNA, meaning that nobody else can use it. Furthermore, Luca can simply grip the staff in different places to use its various functions. [b]Items:[/b] 1x Grenade, 1x Pendant, 1x Sky Shoes (used in Sky Hockey), 1x Hi Potion and 1x Antidote. [b]Ability 1:[/b] [i]Pogo Jump:[/i] This ability is based on Luca's titanium staff. By gripping it in a certain way and driving it into the ground, Luca can boost himself up in the air very high. It is particularly useful during battle and allows Luca to be highly flexible in combat. [b]Ability 2:[/b] [i]Elemental Rod:[/i] Whilst Hume are not able to use magic on their own, Luca's staff is equipped with the ability to utilize the four major elements -- fire, ice, water and lightning -- in order to further expand the staff's capabilities. Luca can "charge up" the staff with a particular element and use it for added effect in some circumstances. [size=1]Okay, there we go. I have a few ideas about this RPG, which I'd like to explain. Firstly, there could be an added benefit to having everyone select characters from the models I have provided. I'm considering cutting out each player's model and making them seperate images, each hosted off-site. My idea is that, whenever someone talks, they use the IMG tag to put their model infront of their name. For example: [IMG]Link to Luca's model here[/IMG] Luca: Hi, I'm Luca. See what I mean? Admittedly, it'd require extra effort...although, it wouldn't be too hard to put the links in, as you'd merely have to right click the appropriate model (I'd put them all up at the start of the RPG) and copy and paste the link into the image tag. That way, it'd be a bit more like a "real" RPG. If you'd like me to demonstrate it, I'll do so at the end of this sign up thread...so you guys can see how it looks. By actually using models within the story itself, we can always remember what the characters look like...and it gives us a better impression of who is talking (rather than just having a name and nothing else). I think it'd be cool and I'd be happy to cut all the images up etc...but it's up to you guys, if you think it's worth it. I have a few other ideas which could potentially make the RPG a little more interesting...but I'll introduce those later. ;)[/size]
