1. I have an "official E3" thread in the Nintendo forum, but I HAD to post this here for all you Zelda freaks. As I said in the other thread...never ever doubt Mr. Miyamoto. ;)

E3!

What can I say...E3 has only just started and already I'm utterly stunned. Those of you who didn't like Zelda...prepare to eat your hats!!! So...now what do you doubters have to say? Still hate Celda? Miyamoto = God. Don't EVER deny his powers again!! lol... I'll post more in a moment! For now, enjoy these beauties ;)
3. Just wait 'till you see the computer I'm gearing up for, Sephy. It will make your PC look like a monochrome Game Boy. ;)
4. I saw this episode of the O'Reilly Factor...and yes, the guy who was complaining about Star Wars is a nut. lol He said that Jango Fett was "third world looking"...well I'm sorry, but how can you claim to be anti-racism when you make an incredibly racist/prejudice remark like that?! That annoyed me...yes, as Flash said, he was a Maori...as was Boba Fett. That is really annoying...the guy was claiming to be some know-it-all who had a holier than thou attitude...but he is too ignorant and stupid to get his facts straight. I mean...as the other guy on the show said...Count Dooku was white...does that mean all white people should be angry and cry racism? Of course not. It's kind of off topic, but look at that Steve Irwin idiot...do people really think that all Australians talk like idiots and enjoy rubbing up against crocodiles? Of course not. And do Australians somehow claim that his antics are unfair, because he's a traditional stereotype? No...of course not. The whole thing is stupid nitpicking...ugh...that guy really annoyed me...
5. Ahh yes, it is indeed a remake of Link to the Past, with extra dungeons etc. Here are shots of some of the newly-shown games: The Legend of Zelda (how hot is this game looking?!) Super Mario Sunshine (there are other shots, which show Mario using his water cannon to "blast off" from the ground...looks awesome, I'll see if I can find some shots to show here) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA remake) Metroid Fusion (GBA) Super Monkey Ball (GBA) There you have it...when E3 rolls around, I'll put some more stuff up here for you guys. :)
6. It was a lazy summer?s afternoon in Coruscant. The networks of air highways were moving more slowly than usual. Nobody seemed to be in any great hurry. But soon enough, the peace was disturbed. An enormous shadow appeared on the horizon. As it moved closer, it grew, enveloping Coruscant?s pristine skyscrapers in darkness. The air traffic slowed even further as the darkness descended on several city blocks. The crowds on the streets below looked toward the ever-darkening sky, partly with wonder and partly with fear. They could see an object floating over the city silently. To those on the ground, it looked like a distant arrowhead. Despite the fact that it looked to be very far away, it was large enough to have almost completely blocked out the sun. As the object descended on Coruscant, it became more apparent to those watching that the object was in fact a starship. And even though it was still several miles from the tip of the tallest skyscraper, those below could already hear its massive engines whirring loudly. Had the object been standing vertically from nose to tail, it would easily have eclipsed most of the city?s buildings in size. But now, the starship didn?t descend any further, for fear of causing a terrible accident. The sheer size of the vessel compelled its operators to keep it at least one mile above the city skyline. And now that it had descended downward from the stratosphere, it began to slowly lurch forward, travelling toward an airfield of equally impressive size on the outskirts of the city. Those in the highest office towers of Coruscant needed only to look out their window to gain a clearer picture of the vessel as it passed by. The underside of its hull was a busy network of engineering and superstructure, punctuated by giant gun emplacements and deep gashes, some of which stretched for more than 300 meters in length. The smooth edges of the hull were periodically broken by huge landing lights. The lights themselves cast wide cones of red, which made Coruscant?s skyline look as though it was on fire. The starship?s engines were humming so loudly, that those in the highest towers nearby could feel the vibrations pounding against the walls of the buildings. After what seemed like an eternity, the starship finally approached the gigantic airfield on the outskirts of the city. As it made its final approach, several areas on the underside of the hull opened up. Each of these areas were easily as large as a football stadium. And as they opened, large metallic platforms -- being held to the ship by a complex array of hydraulics and titanium surfaces -- expanded outward from the hull. The enormous arrowhead-shaped starship slowly descended on the airfield, its stadium-sized metallic feet outstretched, reaching for the ground. And then, with a deafening thud, it landed. The airfield which the starship had landed on was more than 20 miles in length. It had originally been constructed on behalf of the Galactic Empire, as a place where Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers could be repaired by ground crews. However, the Super Star Destroyer which was now occupying the expansive airfield was certainly not in good shape; there were several deep gashes running along its hull; several weapon emplacements had been severely damaged; much of the habitable "cityscape" on the deck of the ship had been destroyed and much of the ship's electronic wiring and engineering structure was also damaged. Nevertheless, this starship had been one of the lucky ones. Unlike many of her sisters, she hadn't been a victim of what was known among the New Republic as the "Star Destroyer Graveyard". The Star Destroyer Graveyard had been used by the Rebel Alliance to destroy what was left of the Imperial Battlefleet, after the Battle of Endor. A large, uninhabited area of Tatooine had been chosen by the Rebel Alliance and essentially, what was left of the Imperial Battlefleet was sent crashing to the planet's surface via autopilot. Most of the fleet had been completely destroyed upon impact, but some vessels had survived. This Super Star Destroyer was one of them. The Supreme Chancellor of the New Republic had asked a reconnaisance team to locate any "useable" starships in the graveyard and retrieve them. While this seemed contrary to the Rebel Alliance's goal of completely destroying the vessels, the team cooperated with the Chancellor's orders nonetheless. And now here it was. Despite the fact that it was fairly severely damaged, it was still an impressive sight. There simply wasn't another ship in the galaxy of this size; the Super Star Destroyer was definitely the most intimidating reminder of the Galactic Empire's power. Only moments after landing, a section of the underside of the ship's hull began to open. The creaky, damaged hydraulic arms could be heard screeching and grinding against one another for quite some distance. And once the two panels on either side had opened, a small platform emerged from deep within the ship. Standing on the platform was a middle-aged man. His grey hair and beard obscured his face from view. As the platform reached the ground, he stepped onto the cool concrete surface of the airfield and began walking towards the Chancellor's representatives, who were waiting for him near the nose of the ship. One of the representatives was wearing an elaborate green and white gown, which flowed behind her as it caught the wind. She had long brown hair and deep, green eyes. As the man approached, she held her hand out, expecting the man to do the same...but he didn't. He looked at her, looked at the other representatives and then smirked to himself. Han Solo: So this is the thanks I get? A lousy handshake for all my hard work? The young woman looked at the other representatives with a surprised look on her face. She then turned back to the man. Representative: Uh, sir...you will be payed in due course. Our technicians need to check this vessel first, to ensure that it hasn't been tampered with. The man rolled his eyes, making no effort to hide his feelings from the young woman. Han Solo: Look, lady...you asked me to get this piece of junk off Tatooine, right? I did what you asked and now you need to live up to your end of the bargain. Representative: It won't take long, sir. I assure you, once the vessel is screened, we'll pay you. The man soon realized that he wasn't going to get his money immediately. He sighed and nodded. Han Solo: Fine. I don't even know why you want this chunk of space debris...it looks like it's been hit by a few too many asteroids. Eh, I'll never understand politicians... The man gave a halfhearted bow to the woman and made his way inside the hangar. The representative walked slowly underneath the ship. She'd never seen a Super Star Destroyer "in the flesh" before. She, too, had no idea why the New Republic would want to dig up an old relic such as this. But she suspected that the Jedi Council knew something she did not...
7. Okay...here is a final list of those who made it into the RPG: SS Trunks ShadowGohan Shyguy Warlock Mist NorykoAngelcry Justin BabyGirl Queen Asuka Final_Flash Okay, that's the final list. I had to choose carefully, as I wanted to create a balance between light and dark (although there are slightly more light characters than dark characters). My character, Vin-Mar Sune and his apprentice (SS Trunks' character) are perhaps the two major "villains" in this story. Therefore, I needed to counter balance that with other characters. As the plot goes on...I'm sure it will reveal who ends up becoming the major hero (or heroine) of the story. :) I'll post the story in the main forum soon.
8. Regarding Zelda, I'm not sure if it's A Link to the Past or not. There have been some shots released which show all-new multiplayer dungeons...now, these could be an add-on to Link to the Past OR they could be part of an entirely new game. Here's a shot of the cooperative dungeon for you:
9.
Originally posted by BabyGirl In Episode II, they turned the whole thing around and made it so that Owen Lars really IS Anakin's brother...or half-brother...therefore disregarding everything that the EU has ever said about Owen Lars. Kudos to that...
Ah yes. That is why, as much as I am interested in the novels...I can never take them as being the "official" story. What you just described demonstrates that. :)
10. Whoa...more sign ups than I thought! Okay guys...I'll be posting the final list of those who "got in" here soon...and after that, I'll launch the RPG in the main forum. Remember: don't post in the RPG if you didn't make the list. ;)
11. NAME Vin-Mar Sune AGE Unknown SPECIES Human LOCATION/HOMEWORLD Byss WEAPON Black Lightsaber ALLIANCE Imperialist VEHICLE/SHIP SITH INFILTRATOR FORCE CAPABILITIES Telekenetic Force - Ability to move objects with the mind. Mind Control - Ability to use the dark side of the force to influence/control the mind. This ability becomes weaker based on the intelligence and species of the victim. It is ineffective against Jedi. Electromagnetic - Ability to expel lightning from the hands. CHARACTER DESCRIPTION Vin-Mar wears a completely black cloak, which covers his entire body. He has long, black hair and glowing yellow eyes. In the dark, only the haunting glow of his fiery iris can be seen. BACKGROUND/BIO Vin-Mar is a mysterious character. Very few, aside from a limited number of Jedi, are aware of his existence. His home planet is Byss, a planet where the Dark Emperor's soul fled to after defeat at the hands of Lord Vader. Byss is a planet consumed by dark energy. While most Jedi experts believe that Vin-Mar is merely a fairytale created to frighten young children, those who believe in his existence also believe that he was created from pure dark force energy.
12. Yeah...Jar Jar took away from the seriousness of Episode II whenever he was there...he is just such a foolish and unrealistic character. He just didn't work. But as I said, I also didn't like chewbacca...nor did I like the ewoks. lol If Star Wars had never included Chewy, ewoks or Jar Jar...I would probably have been a really huge nutty fan. lol But as it stands, I can never seriously watch Star Wars when Chewbacca is on screen...he just irritates me beyond belief...
13. To be honest, all this discussion of the books filling in the parts between movies interests me...I feel like seeing some of these books lol As for the RPG...I really only started RPing a couple of months ago. I'd never gotten into it before. But once you get going, it can be really good. It's interesting to see where others take the story...and how it progresses. It's like writing your own novel, but letting it evolve on its own (even though most RPGs are arranged somewhat more like a play than a novel). But still, it's interesting. You're welcome to join if you wish (even if you can't post much). ^_^ The more who know something about SW...the better. lol My knowledge isn't great...but hey, it's an original plot...doesn't have to be great...lol
14.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka I HATE him, too.
Whoa...I always hear of SW fans loving him...and I can NEVER understand it. He's a clumsy, stupid, dumb, hairy thing...ugh...and that annoying noise he makes...it's like...just DIE already! *deep breath* Okay...I'll be alright, don't worry...lol
15.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka No prob...Just trying to be helpful and informative...Yep, I'm a stupid nerd. What do you need the name for anyway? Your RPG...are you the one that started it?
Yeah, I hadn't started an RPG for a while...and since everyone (well, almost everyone) was starting these half-assed cash-ins on Episode II...I thought I'd try something original. lol But of course, I haven't read all the books...so I am attempting to build my own unique story. That's why I wanted to get a few Star Wars fans signing up for it -- I felt that they'd have the knowledge to push the story in some good directions. :)
16.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka Yeah, that's about right. Those are the weirdest names in the entire universe. But I've always wondered if Luke Skywalker's name had some sort of significance, as does Han Solo's...? I mean, if you think about it, both of them could...
Yeah that's possible I suppose... But I always just thought that George Lucas took a hat, put pieces of paper with letters inside...scrambled 'em about and then took them out one by one lol I mean you have to admit...some of the names are so stupid...Chewbacca? Ugh...he's worse than Jar Jar...I loathe that character...
17. Hm, it looks like I'll have to come up with my own name...-_- None of those really seem to match...but thanks anyway. :)
18. Burja Gemel. LOL So this is how Lucas comes up with those idiotic names...
19.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka Oh yeah, and it is so weird seeing all this Episode VII: Shadows of the Empire thing, because that was the name of the novel that came in between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I think it's sort of funny. And there is a book that comes directly after Episode VI, but I forget what it's called.
Indeed, although I personally disregard the books in relation to the actual movies... Maybe you could find out the name of the book after Episode VI? That would be of great help...
20. I'm personally glad that Yoda was done in CGI. He looked more real than ever...and obviously, it gave him the ability to fight and really become his own character. I think Yoda's role in Ep. II was bigger than it's ever been...and that can only be a good thing. ;)
21. Yes indeed, GameCube is now selling for $149 in the USA! It seems that Nintendo has decided to respond to MS/Sony's little "price war". Those members who live in Australia won't be surprised though, as only a week or so before launch, Nintendo Australia announced that they were cutting $70 off the price of the console. Interesting stuff indeed. Nintendo has also revealed some interesting tidbits prior to their E3 Press Conference tomorrow. First, the new Zelda on GameCube (which will be playable at E3), will see Link saving his sister and not Princess Zelda. Interesting, eh? ;) Second, the new Zelda for GBA (I think it's a Link to the Past remake), will apparently feature a two player cooperative mode. The idea is that when playing two players, each player will have a different coloured Link...and some puzzles will require both Links to stand on switches and such... Very interesting news -- just imagine how fun a two player cooperative Link to the Past would be! ^_^ Nintendo's big press conference is tomorrow...and the company will be showing a slew of playable GameCube titles this year, including Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, The Legend of Zelda and more. The company will also reveal new games such as 1080 Snowboarding 2: White Storm, Wario World, Mario Party 4...and also, there are rumors that they will be revealing Super Mario Kart for GameCube for the very first time! I can't wait to see what news pops up at E3... What are you guys looking forward to reading about most?
22.
Originally posted by Frankie5 Angels I dont know if anyone has said this yet but,Shadows of the Empire is not episode VII.It is the time between episode V and VI.
Um, yeah I know. I based the title off an N64 game by the same name. I chose it because it seemed suitable for an "official" Episode VII title...Shadows of the Empire...meaning that the Empire still has some small presence in the galaxy. ;) Oh, nice sign up, by the way...
23.
Originally posted by DBZChikaGhan [COLOR=purpleWhile I feel all of these things, I also feel that America is one of the best places on Earth. Note I didn't say THE best. America has it's problems, but please don't act like it is the one. Not to generalize, but it seems that a lot of the griping is coming from Australians. I'm not pushing the pin on Australia and saying only Australian's dislike America, but Australia isn't perfect either. Neither is anywhere else on this planet.
That's true, nowhere is perfect. I don't think that Australians are really the ones complaining here though. Cloricus is Australian (I think)...but most of his points so far are pretty invalid. And I don't know where his chip on the shoulder comes from. Australia and America are probably the closest of international allies. And the reason for that is because both countries have very similar ideals. I certainly don't hate America at all -- I think America is a great country and there are many things that I love about it. I'm just saying that in general, Americans wear rose coloured glasses when it comes to their own country. But I think you yourself pretty much outlined that as well; so I think we agree on that point. For me personally, there is nowhere on Earth I'd rather live than here. This place is a paradise...everyone who visits says the same. But of course, this country isn't perfect -- unlike the USA, we haven't completely reconciled with our aboriginal community. And that is something which would seem to contradict Australia's core values. It still mystifies me as to why we are so behind in that area. But that is one of our few faults. Still, it's something that we must look at and accept. I think basically, we all have to realize that we're sharing the planet...and we have to be sensitive to other people's needs. If that were being done a little more, then I think people would be less critical of the US and others across the board.
24.
Originally posted by Jamvis Well, James always has a valid point, but one thing i dont understand is, why is it that everytime we get into a war we beat the crap out of them then use our own funds to help them back up (i.e.: Japan and Afgahnistan).
Because you're forgetting something very important here. In the case of Afghanistan, the USA and its allies were fighting against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Not the Afghan people. It's wrong to say "war against Afghanistan", because it wasn't a war against Afghanistan. It was a war against the oppressive leadership of that nation. The USA can't go in and bomb the place and then not pick up the pices -- it has an obligation to help the civilians there, once it has attacked the Taliban. Without such intervention, an atmosphere would arise where another Taliban-style government could take power. In the case of Japan, for a few years after WWII, the USA occupied Japan and controlled it. When the country was back on its feet and stripped of its weaponry, the USA handed power back to Japanese leaders. And now, look at Japan. It's a pacifist country...it's democratic (for the most part) and it's a hell of a lot more free than the Middle East. Therefore, Japan is a great example of what can happen in Afghanistan; the International community can help to rebuild people's lives...build infrastructure and education, so that there is no environment for terrorists. You must remember that Afghanistan was a haven for terrorists because it had no law and order...and very little education. When people are ignorant and starving, terrorism can become attractive because it feeds on the negative aspects of people's situations. It becomes much easier for people like bin Laden to use propaganda to "educate" people... But when people have education and they are able to become financially independent, you'll find that they won't succumb to terrorism nearly as easily...simply because they know better. And they don't become tempted to what terrorism offers. So it should be our aim to make Afghanistan stable...to provide it with law and order...police forces and Government...schools and hospitals...clean water and food...and then, finally, people will be able to live their lives more happily and put terrorism away for good.
25. New Kids on the Block were a fad. They were popular one moment and then completely gone the next. Anime, like everything else, experiences a rise and fall in popularity from year to year. However, the fact that anime has been received (on some level) by American society through the years, indicates that by definition, it isn't a fad. If it were a fad, it would be here...and then gone the next moment. Pretty simple stuff, really.
