Well, if you are going to complain about such topics...maybe you should create good topics to counter the bad ones. ;) Afterall, talking about it ain't gonna do much. :)
Originally posted by Megabakin Its starting to get boring with all these depressing topics. Im mean, suicide, drugs, broken hearts, trust, love and life, and many other topics where people go there and feel sorry for themselves. Ive gone through a great share or troubles too, but I decided that if I never got over them I would get nowhere in life, and I would always be held down by those memories. But, I moved on. I mean for one thing your life cant be that bad if you have ANY access to a computer. Most people in other countries dont have a computer, nonetheless the internet. Ive read stories of people who have gone through way harsher problems then ours, but they decided that to always be under the memories was not a good life to live, and they moved on. All I ask is that we atleast try to move on, try not to talk about what has happened.
I think we've had a topic like this before from JCBagee... In any case, I agree with you. But I guess that people will always have problems that they want to discuss with their friends...and really, General Discussion is a place where these kind of topics can be talked about. Still, I agree with you. It'd be nice to encourage discussions which aren't so self centered, once in a while.
Originally posted by Nerdsy Erh... This may contain spoilers.. I loved the ending. it was very emotional for me. It was like my first RPG: it took my breath away. I could feel my heart beating faster, since I had just stabbed Gannon in the freaking head. That was awesome. I loved it that she sent him back. I mean, he actually gets to life out his life! (even if it had plot holes galore. How the heck the Kokiri chlidren get out of the forest?) All the Sages standing on the mountain... That was great! They were looking at each other with looks of "He did it. I knew he could!" *sigh*
I agree completely. :) Link had completed his task against all odds...and the reward was the ability to go back and live his childhood the way he always should have. I thought it was a nice ending...
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Maybe I don't make my point clear but you should b able to get somewhat of a better understanding. If this guy had an ounce of maturity in him, I bet he woudn't have done those things to that other person. But being the child he is, of course he didn't have any maturity and he didn't care. Thus driving another person to take their own life, which I don't agree with but whatever. I guess that person didn't care if he hurt others either....
I agree. Bullies are nothing but childish morons who have nothing better to do with their time than make someone else feel bad. And I see what you're saying...you're not talking about children in terms of young people...you're talking about childish behavior. I don't think anyone would disagree that childish behavior led to this problem...
Originally posted by Vegitto4 Well, if they dont charge, then there is really no point. You probably only get cash poff the hits to the site right?
Well, obviously they are earning money via all their stupid porn banners or whatever. But a lot of the time, these sites aren't created for profit...they're created because people simply like playing old games which they can't access anymore via the retailers. I mean, it's very attractive to any older gamer to download an old game which he or she has fond memories of.

That made me laugh :whoops:
20 billion? lol...noo... 9,800 Xbox units sold in first week. 24,000 N64 units sold in first hour. :)
Originally posted by zelda's hero thx for showing that clip of the new zelda. now i know what everyone is complaining about! the new graphics make that game so undesireable it's not even funny. i thought that OOT was probobly one of the best games i've ever played, and even though it is on n64, i think the graphics are WAY better than that of the new game cube "zelda". the maker(s) could have done a way better job. this really dissapoints me. my rating for the game cube version has got to be....hmmm...how to discribe it...:butthead: feel free to argue with me. even though i probly won't care.
Ugh, not another one. :bawl: :drunk: You'll find that Zelda's graphics are based pretty heavily on A Link to the Past for SNES. If you're not old enough to appreciate this style...well...then you're really not understanding what Zelda is all about. :) Also, there are rumors that the style has something to do with the fact that there will be a GBA version of Zelda which will somehow link to the GCN version...
Originally posted by Sephiroth and what exactly is wrong with the xbox? In a land just beyond the horizons of time, a fierce battle approaches. Clouds of dust are kicked up by dark men on horseback. Villages are burned to the ground and children cry for their parents amidst flames and smoke. Men who's hearts are filled with black rage and immeasurable greed are summoned to the Black Forest. The Black Forest is a place where dreams become reality. It lies beyond time and at the very edge of reality. Men with weak hearts and dark dreams desire the object which lays upon the forest floor. That object, the sacred Sword of Fate, grants its posessor the ability to live forever. Its sister artifact, the Master Sword, allows the posessor to travel through time. When both swords are combined, their power rivals that of the mysterious Triforce, which is divided into three seperate pieces and spread across the land. The battle which looms in a land beyond the horizons of time threatens the stability and peace of all the lands of the world. It is a battle which aims to redraw the boundaries of the Dark World, a land which mirrors reality. The evil warlord who dominates the Dark World is feared by the common man. And while his power is great, his reach does not extend to the Black Forest. He faces internal resistance to his ultimate goal; obtaining the Sword of Fate. Those in the land of Hyrule are unaware of this conflict. But it is a conflict which threatens the very nature of time itself. And so begins our story of courage and triumph. But this time, the world's fate will not rest on a single and solitary figure. The fate of all life will rest on a group of individuals from across the land. All have different stories to tell. But all are eternally linked by the world's fate... Sign Up Thread - Fill out the sections below: Name: Race: (Kokiri, Hylian, Zora, Goron or one of your own creation...but it must have some relevance to the Zelda series) Age: Location: (Regardless of your age or race, you must still state where your character's home is) Description: Inventory: (You may carry up to 15 items in your inventory) Weapon: Spell 1: Spell 2: Spell 3: Name of Fairy (if you have one): I think that's all for now. Also, let me say that this story takes place several years into the future (when Link is in his mid to late twenties). And thus, Zelda is also an adult -- she has become Queen of Hyrule. I apologize for not filling in more of the blanks, but it would probably take me forever to go into the back story of how the world has changed since Majora's Mask...and so, I think I'll let that develop through the story. Those of you who are familiar with the Zelda series will be able to understand how the world may have realistically developed over time. Anyway...I'll accept 6 to 8 people apart from myself. More than that is simply too much. Also, you may choose to be Link or any other character from the series (bear in mind that being in the future...adult characters from MM or LttP will be "old" now). If a few of you want to be Link...that is okay, as I will only choose one person for it. So try to make your character profiles good ;) Other than that...there isn't much else to say I think. I'll take as many signups as possible...then I'll post as to who I've chosen...and the RPG will begin shortly after. :) If you have any questions, ask 'em here. ;) I'll fill out my char. profile later. :)

I think I speak for everyone here when I wish Kevin good luck in his future ventures. It is indeed a shame that both Ginny and Kevin have had to leave recently, but particularly in Kevin's case, it's a personal decision which he feels he has to make. Adam and myself completely respect it. I hope that we are able to find new staff who have the same kind of knowledge and enthusiasm for anime (though it will be very tough to top Kevin's contributions ;)). Thanks again to you Kevin, for your outstanding commitment to theOtaku.com. You will be missed by all. :) P.S. I'm glad you chose to stick around on the boards ;) Edit: Cruizr...my name just sitting on the staff list? lol...I guess you didn't notice our Teknoman section. And moreover, you have no idea what Adam and I are working on at this very moment. ;)
Originally posted by Vegitto4 so why would they be on sites to download them from anyway???? I mean, if its illegal, why are they put on sites? It seems pointless to me.
Hm, that's very naive of you, Vegitto. The reason that people put emulators/ROMs on websites is the exact same reason that people put any other illegal content on websites -- there is demand for it. Many webmasters believe that they won't/can't be caught when it comes to distribution of copyrighted materials. However, Nintendo of America sued/closed down more than 200 sites last year -- sites which were distributing such illegal software. The simple fact is, if you are someone who distributes or downloads such software, you are always running at least some kind of risk.

Just as a footnote to what Transtic just said, I think that regular drug takers (whether they take Marijuana or whatever else) are also demonstrating how selfish and self-centered they are. It's all very well to be foolish and say "I'll have fun now and who cares what the consequences are", but that kind of thinking doesn't take into account the feelings of family and friends. It would be heartless and cruel to leave your family and friends behind simply to satisfy your own addiction and self-centered desire for pleasure. The whole thing is pretty stupid and unjustifiable, if you ask me.

The four Replimasters eyed the Hunters. They looked incredibly intimidating. For a moment, the two groups just stood there facing each other. A very slight mist was creeping its way along the forest floor and as the trees swayed in the wind, the light of the sun cast eerie patterns over the ground. Plant was the first to attack. The snake-like cord on his right arm lifted up and flew overhead. The claw at the end opened with a loud hydraulic whir and within seconds, it had clung to a nearby tree. Flash and the others looked up. Plant closed his eyes and crouched, sending shockwaves of electricity through the cord toward the claw. The resulting energy blast was so powerful that it knocked the Hunters to the ground. Flash stood up and brushed the dust off his metal skin. The others looked around, slightly dazed. Proteus looked up and heard a shrill "SNAP!". The top half of the tree trunk had snapped under the pressure of the blast and was beginning to collapse over them. Flash: RUN!! The group ran to the side as the tree crashed down, narrowly missing its enormous trunk. There was dust and leaves floating about everywhere, which made it difficult to see. Flash felt himself being lifted high into the air -- Wood had grabbed him and was holding him over his head. Wood: Hahaha! You are never going to get out of this one! Foolish little Hunters...you'll regret ever entering this forest! Flash struggled but couldn't move. Wood's grip on him was far too tight. Using all his might, Flash squirmed a little more, managing to free his buster. He aimed the buster directly downward; right above Wood's head. He closed his eyes, bracing for the impact...and fired. The resulting explosion nearly deafened him. He was sent spiralling into the air, where he managed to grab a passing tree branch. He climbed up onto the branch and peered down below. As the smoke cleared, he saw Wood laying face down on the forest floor. The back of his head was completely blown open -- it looked as though someone had peeled the metal open on either side without any effort. Flash could see the internal circuitry in Wood's head. The other Hunters were standing behind the fallen tree trunk, preparing themselves for battle. Plant, Elec and Magnet rushed over to the fallen Wood. Plant leaned down and reached into his thigh compartment. He pulled out a small circular device which he then plugged directly onto Wood's back. He pushed the center of the device inward with his index finger, causing it to glow. And within moments, there was a faint blue shield surrounding Wood. Plant: Hah! You did good Flash...but we're putting an energy shield on Wood here 'till this fight is over...when I'm done with you amateurs, I'll take him back to get repaired... Magnet: What cowards...hiding behind the very tree trunk which you shot down, Plant... Plant: Yes...cowards only have one thing coming to them. Elec: Let's get 'em...
Originally posted by The Evil King Origionally posted by char-char-charmander-"And if they start kicking members out with no warning, they're not doing their job. If you ask me, I'd say they're avoiding it. They're using their power to do what members can't, in ways that aren't fair to the people who can't do anything about it. This applies especially to the people getting kicked out!" I had something to say about this, but I didn't get a chance to reply. I know a member who was banned about 2 days ago. his name is ganon997. I know him from some other forum. Me and him got to be good friends, and I am conserened about what he told me. Ganon997 told me he tried to log on and was banned with no warning! He didn't even get an e-mail! He was banned for PM'ing people about Zelda Universe. He also toled me that that rule wasn't in the rules untill the day after he joined, and he didn't see it! He was banned for no reason! I think it is messed up when you do something like this! JAMES if you read this, please let him come back! On the othere forums he is on he does not ever break the rules! AND you SAY that you give a warnng to newbies! Ganon997 didn't get any warning, and he was on for 1 or 2 days! HE was a NEWBI! I thought you said they get a chance! I think you should let him come back. Will you? I will E-Mail him the answer you give me.
Firstly, what you are doing now is breaking the rules. You do not want to get my attention by posting in the main forums -- this is what our Private Message function is for. Messaging me here will only get you the wrong kind of attention. As for ganon997, he was banned for two reasons. Firstly, he was banned for sending unsolicited PMs to members -- a member forwarded a PM he had sent to them...and it was utter spam. They didn't even ask for information on the site, yet they received what was essentially an ad. People should not join our forums for the express purpose of advertising their site. Secondly, ganon997's post quality was pretty poor. And that's saying it lightly. Furthermore, I noticed that a number of other staff were forced to move/delete/edit his posts quite often since he joined as he was continually spamming on the forums. He either didn't read our rules or he just didn't follow them. Either way, ganon997 probably would have been banned sooner if I'd had the time. This is one of the members who I referred to in the No Tolerance Status thread whereby I said that several new members are banned each week (sometimes only after a couple of posts), because their posts are so bad that they don't warrant further attention. We do not somehow pass off our duties...and we do not ignore them either. But you must realize that our forums now have more than 2,500 members...it is simply impossible to negotiate every single situation to great detail -- my staff don't have the time for it, and I certainly don't have the time for it myself. Therefore, as the forums get larger, this kind of thing is bound to happen. I don't have time to "sit down" with each member and go into great detail about the rules. If their post quality is undesirable, they won't be permitted here -- the same as for any other forum on the Internet.

The group stood still for a moment, wondering what was going to happen. Wood stepped forward and aimed his buster at the group. He gave a twisted grin and fired. An enormous explosive sound was heard as green light emitted from the end of Wood's buster -- hundreds of tiny metal leaves sprayed out of the barrel toward the group. Flash: Heads up!! The entire group ducked as the sharp metal leaves flew overhead. Proteus heard a loud buzzing sound as several of the leaves passed just by his head. The group stood up. Flash and Omega aimed their busters at Wood. Proteus turned around and saw that the leaves had turned around in mid air and were coming back for a second pass. Proteus: Duck! The entire group fell to the ground again, all except for Proteus. He held up his arm. The veins in his arm began to glow bright blue and almost instantly, his arm morphed into a large titanium shield. He braced himself behind the sheild and closed his eyes. The leaves slammed into the shield hard, pushing Proteus back -- but he dug his feet in and held is ground. Once the leaves had stopped, his arm transformed back to its normal state, though it appeared slightly damaged. Flash: Hey Proteus...are you able to download a flamethrower mod from Central Command? Surely that'll stop Wood! Proteus: I can't...I can't get a good signal. :( Flash: Gah...that means we're in for some old fashioned fighting...

I'm addicted to music. That's about all that I can think of...

I think that there is a basic bottom line here. First, people don't choose their sexuality. You can argue that all you want, but did you consciously choose to be straight? Of course not. The same goes for anyone else. Furthermore, discriminating against anyone based on sexual orientation/race/gender/religion/nationality is simply inappropriate and unacceptable. I don't think anyone here would deny that discrimination is wrong, regardless of their personal beliefs. Now...I recognize that each person has their own personal beliefs. And that's fine. But those beliefs shouldn't be used to degrade another member of the human race...all of mankind is equal and singling people out for whatever reason is wrong. I think that this topic reflets a wide array of views on the subject...and therefore, the discussion doesn't need to continue. People can read this topic to see the wealth of opinions on the boards. The only thing I will say other than this, is that discrimination is strongly disapproved of on OtakuBoards and other O3 sites.
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy Oh my goodness, you have me thinking about reopening this. But in the end, I doubt it would be worth it. Hmm, I actually looked up that info (obviously). On the site it lists them as the developer. Here's the link for anyone who wants to personally check it out. History of Rockstar
Yeah, I have no doubt about that, but the company is presenting Rockstar as the developer because DMA was purchased by Rockstar recently (and Rockstar is owned by Take Two Interactive). Thus, it won't really give you the "full" story, so to speak.
-
Hm...Rockstar has never developed any software at all. Infact, Rockstar only came into existence within the last two years or something lol. DMA was responsible for those games...it also developed another game on N64 which wasn't mentioned, called Body Harvest. It's been a very interesting developer, though none of its games were particularly good until the GTA series arrived. And now it's been renamed to Rockstar Studios...bleh.

Usually, the main issue is that being in a rural area, the phonelines are worse quality than those in metropolitan areas. My modem is very fickle; sometimes it will go incredibly fast (14kb per second download) and sometimes it will go amazingly slow (500bytes per second download) -_- So for me, it's a gamble whenever I connect lol. But usually, if it's slow...I just have to reconnect a few times and that seems to get it going. :drunk:
