Gaming Resident Evil: The Movie Is Like Not The Game!!
James replied to SSJ Gotenks ok's topic in Noosphere
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy Haha, James, have you even seen the movie? Actually, it's very much like the game and serves as a direct prequel. Basically, the movie shows how the virus was created and how the whole situation with umbrella, the mansion, and Racoon City developed. Also, it shows the creation of the very first licker and the nemesis. Basically there is very little "super computer nonsense." If you've seen the movie, you would know that it gets shut down early in the film and makes a small reappearance later on. All the computer is, is a means of containing the virus--it's not even the main villain of the film. Anyway, as I've said before, there are no familiar faces because we would already know what happened to them, thus, eliminating any suspense.
My point is that the movie (from what I have read thusfar), didn't really stick to the games as it should have. Perhaps that is fairly subjective. In any case, the movie will still conflict with RE0...which is a prequel to the original. And so that makes me wonder how Capcom will approach RE0...if they'll totally disregard the movie or if they'll somehow incorporate elements of both. -
Hm, if you want the top five games that will appear on or soon after launch, I'd suggest the following: Luigi's Mansion Pikmin Super Smash Bros. Melee Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II Resident Evil That would probably be my top five...but I'd also include Wave Race: Blue Storm -- 'tis an awesome game.

Gaming Resident Evil: The Movie Is Like Not The Game!!
James replied to SSJ Gotenks ok's topic in Noosphere
Originally posted by NeoCactuar There is no way that they would have made the 'Resident Evil' movie the same as the original game, because the audience would know what is going to happen next, and would be very fimiliar with the plot. They wanted to create something new, and exiting, so people can enjoy it more.
I think the main problem is that the movie doesn't seem to relate to the game much at all. I mean, at least if they'd provided a "direct" prequel...that would have been better. But all this supercomputer nonsense...it's ridiculous. It has nothing to do with Resident Evil. And in that regard, I can understand why he's annoyed...movies based off games would often do better to follow the games more closely, in my opinion. -
What a weird day I had today! I had gone to a local department store to buy some clothing. And I was there with my brother and two sisters. About halfway through, we decided to sit down in the food court and have lunch. As I was standing infront of a line of people, getting ready to order something, I noticed the woman behind the counter shooting an awkward look at me. At first, I thought that perhaps she was looking at me. But I soon realized that she was looking with some amazement at the man standing behind me. So, being the curious fellow I am, I casually looked around...pretending to look toward the other side of the food court. And you would not believe the shock I had. I nearly fell over that instant. The man standing behind me closely resembled Osama bin Laden! His face was exactly the same...as was his hair. He even had the same beard! The only difference was that he wasn't wearing any sort of turban. I took a moment to gather myself and proceeded to order my food. I was thinking that I should probably just order and leave...I mean, what if this was the Osama? Finally (and with some relief), my order was finished and I took it to a nearby table. I began telling my siblings of my encounter when suddenly, my sister pointed -- Mr. bin Laden had apparently sat down right behind me. Could he hear what I was saying? Who knows. In any case, it makes me wonder...is the United States looking in the right places? Is Osama hiding down here in Australia and not in Afghanistan? Perhaps we'll never know. What a strange day. I definitely felt rather shaken after that encounter. :drunk: My question is, has anyone else ever seen an infamous celebrity look-alike? Ever noticed someone who looks like Hitler? Ever seen someone who closely resembles Mao Zedung? They say that every person in the world has a twin...and I think I've definitely seen Osama's twin. :drunk: :bawl:

The only FF game where I have a perfect file is FFVII. But I only did that once...and I haven't played the game since. If you get all of the various Materia (I think there is one which doubles each attack or something, I forget)...it's so easy to beat the last boss. It literally takes a couple of minutes (especially if you have the best sword in the game).

The transport ship exited the base. The underside of its enormous hull glowed with a soft green luminance. Each member of the crew were doing something different. Flash was piloting the vessel over the nearby hills. Proteus sat down next to him. Proteus: How's it going? Flash: Pretty well. How are you liking life so far? Proteus: Everything is still fairly alien to me. I have to admit, I don't even really understand what our mission is. Flash: Oh... Proteus: All I know is that I'm loyal to our cause...and that I will always try to do what is right. Flash: I guess that's a good way of looking at things. Proteus: Yeah. Can you explain our mission in a little more detail for me?

Anime By god!! A Teknoman (Tekkaman Blade) Section!
James replied to ZeroBlade's topic in Otaku Central
Ahh, finally. Someone who appreciates my hard work. ;) Heh, just kidding. But you're right...Teknoman is one of the truly classic anime series. I encourage everyone to read about it and if possible, to go out and watch it. :) -
Originally posted by Smoky Joe Actually, I think they hate the Cube. Look at their latest games (Max Payne, GTA3 and State of Emergency). What do they have in common? They are in PS2 and they are confirmed to be ported to X-Box. Rockstar has denied all rumors of ports for GCN of any of these games.
These games are being released for PS2 for two primary reasons: 1) The PS2 has the largest installed user base. 2) The PS2's market is generally perceived to be an older demographic than both GameCube and Xbox. Clearly, these kind of games have been a success on the PS2 in the past. So Rockstar has absolutely no reason not to bring games like this to PS2 in future. Rockstar haven't categorically denied GTAIII for GameCube. I actually heard reports at least a month ago which suggested that the game is indeed in development. But of course, Rockstar would not admit this if they do not want the public to know. So I wouldn't say that they hate the GameCube. But I would say that they are making decisions based on business -- which is of course, understandable. If games such as Resident Evil perform will in the United States and other territories, then Rockstar will have more evidence to suggest that these kind of games can be successful on GameCube.

I believe that it is due to release in early May (possible on the 17th, the same date as the GameCube launch). Australia will receive "FFX International" which has extra features.

Proteus walked over to a computer terminal which was attached to a nearby wall. He busily typed on the keyboard for a few moments. Flash: Hey Proteus...what are you doing? Proteus: I are downloading speech and language files for is my internal data bank. Flash: Oh. Proteus stepped away from the keyboard and walked toward a switchboard next to the computer. He stood still and closed his eyes. Almost immediately, his strange, fibreous hair receeded into his scalp, leaving him bald once again. He reached up and put his hand on the top of his head. Then he pressed his middle finger down firmly. Proteus took his hand away. A faint whirring sound could be heard by the others as a small black circle appeared on the top of his head. The circular area opened up like a trapdoor, to reveal glowing blue cords and circuitboards underneath. Proteus reached over to the switchboard and pulled out a small plug with a cord attached to it. He plugged the cord into the opening on his head. His eyes were still closed. The video screen on the wall was displaying a loading sequence. It appeared that Proteus was downloading everything from spelling and grammer to humor and sarcasm. Finally, the loading stopped. Proteus pulled the plug out of his head, pushed the circular portion of his scalp back down and regrew his glistening fibre hair. He turned around to face the others. Proteus: Ahh, much better! Flash: Heh, you're alright? Proteus: Yeah. Finally I can speak properly. I also downloaded some weapons information -- just incase. Omega: Cool...well, are you going to get weapons or what? Proteus: I don't need weapons. Omega: Wha? Proteus: My weapons are already with me. I have an adaptive buster on my arm...and a hand blaster in my thigh compartment. My buster is completely adaptive, so I don't need to download any special settings for the time being -- it already contains around 50 different presets. Omega: But you can download new weapon settings if necessary? Proteus: Correct. Drake: So what if you wanted to morph your adaptive arm into a bazooka...I mean, what's stopping you from doing stuff like that? Proteus: It doesn't work like that. For starters, I have to download the appropriate program codes to my limb...so that it physically knows how to change into the desired weapon. But moreover, I can't change it into something which is any larger than my current buster -- to do so would require physically more metal. My arm can change its current properties in order to change shape...but only if the replacement weapon posesses the same or less metal content. Drake: Er...yea. :drunk: Flash: Alright, enough chatter...I want everyone to make sure that they have the right weapons...
Originally posted by Nerdsy I think it literally means "house", but it also is "geek" and "anime fan", as not-so-literal terms. Probably like Japanese slang.
Otaku is a strange word. It essentially means "hardcore", within the context of being a hardcore fan of anime or manga. However, in Japan, the word is occasionally considered offensive. Because the implication is that an "Otaku" never leaves their room and spends all day and night watching anime/reading manga. So as you can see, it's an absolutely perfect name for our sites. :D

Flash's internal clock signalled that the time was now 9:00pm. Flash: Okay well...it's 9pm guys, it's pretty late. Drake: What should we do? Nova: Hmm, I feel like doing some weapons training... Flash: At this time of night?! Nova: Why not? Flash: Heh, Warlock and I just did some training earlier on. Nova: Oh. Well how about we all take a walk in the gardens outside? Can't be anymore boring than being in here... Flash: Yeah, alright...might as well. You never know, something might happen. Drake: Well I guess, if anything...we can test out some of Proteus' abilities. I mean, we can see if he can walk on air/water and all that stuff... Flash: Yeah, and I guess the experience will do him some good...

I mean, as I said...Metroid Prime is being co-developed by EAD (Entertainment, Analysis & Development), which is an internal department of Nintendo Co., Ltd. NCL is also working on Eternal Darkness in conjunction with Silicon Knights. And both ED and Metroid Prime will be published by Nintendo. So in that regard, Nintendo itself is certainly playing a major role in the development of these franchises. What this comes down to is one of two things: 1) Total ignorance (ie: basing your opinion on a product soley on screenshots or other media [as jabroni did with Zelda]). 2) Buying one of the other brands (Xbox or PS2) and desperately trying to defend your purchase. The fact is, people shouldn't need to defend their purchases. As long as you enjoy the games, that's all that matters. And often, I find that so called "mature" games are actually lacking in quality, because they use their mature edge/design as a way of covering for a lack of general substance.

Flash: In any case, I think his code name is a bit raw...I mean, he should have a name like the rest of us. Warlock: Agreed. Flash: Hmm...well, he is a Proteus Unit... Warlock: Proteus? Flash & Drake: Yep!! :D Flash turned to Proteus. Flash: Your name is Proteus...understand? Proteus: Yes. I understand. Flash: Heh, you gotta lighten up a little... Warlock: Ah don't worry, he'll be talking normally in no time. It took me a while to get the hang of life... Flash: Yeah. In the meantime, we should keep him close by...and teach him a thing or two. I'd hate for him to fall into the wrong hands...or should I say, to be influenced by the wrong people. Warlock: Agreed.

I hope this doesn't conflict too much with what's going on...I'm kind of fast forwarding a little bit. Flash's internal clock signalled that the time was 8:30pm. He realized that the Proteus Unit would be waking up soon. With that in mind, he began to make his way toward the Experimental Engineering Department. The huge solid steel doors slid open upon a retinal scan, and Flash stepped into the cool, dark room. The room was dead silent. The only noise to be heard was a faint humming sound being emitted by a large capsule at the other end of the room. The capsule was fairly non-descript; it had no specific markings which would indicate anything special. But Flash knew better -- within this capsule was arguably Dr. Light's most unique project. The capsule had five lights on the front. The lights had started out red and progressively changed to green as the unit on the inside charged. All the lights were now green. Flash pushed a single button on the cover of the capsule and a small monitor slid out from the left hand side. Flash stared into the monitor as it scanned his retinas. With an audible "click", the capsule cover unlocked and slid upwards, revealing its contents. On the inside was what looked like a young man of about 17 or 18. His eyes were closed and his grey suit was lifeless. The only sign of activity was a small red light on the man's neck. Flash reached in and put his hand on the man's neck. He felt around for a moment until he felt a small undulation in the skin and pressed down firmly with two fingers. He stepped back and waited. For a moment, nothing happened. And then, only a few seconds later, the man's large eyes began to open slowly. The large blue eyes stared at Flash for a moment. They then slowly looked around the room, examining its contents. Then they blinked once. The man smiled and stepped out of the capsule. He stood motionless in the middle of the room, looking forward. Flash: Hello P-120x. P-120x: Hello, sir. Flash waved his hand infront of the man's eyes, which followed every movement. Flash: Welcome home. How do you feel? P-120x: I feel is very energetic. Flash: Hmm... Flash realized that the robot had only just woken. And thus, it needed further interaction with others in order to develop its social and language skills. Furthermore, Flash noticed that the robot was completely bald -- something he couldn't see when it was in the dark capsule. Flash: You have no hair... P-120x: Oh. I are apologize. The robot closed his eyes. Flash saw faint lines appearing on the robot's neck. They were glowing bright blue, like lit-up veins underneath his skin. The veins slowly creeped their way upwards over the sides of his head and to his scalp. Thousands of small blue lights appeared on the robot's scalp. And suddenly, thin blue strands of fibre began to emerge from each light. The fibres looked exactly like black hair, except that every few seconds, a shimmer of bright blue light would race through them. After only a few seconds -- and with a full head of optical-fibre hair -- the robot opened his eyes again. He smiled at Flash. P-120x: I are intended for social interactions. Flash: Oh yes...we need to get you out there with the others, don't we? Hm, well...follow my lead. :) P-120x: Yes, follow your leads. Flash grinned. Despite the fact that this robot was no doubt a technical marvel, it seemed to have a screw loose in the brains department. He hoped that it wouldn't take too long for the machine to absorb some common sense from those around it...
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy On a seperate note, I don't think that the GameCube's reputation as being a "kiddie" system is that strong. However, the actual company of Nintendo does have that reputation for making games that lack primarily adult content. I think it's important to distinguish between the company and the console.
The reputation of both goes hand in hand. You visit any Xbox/PS2 forum and I guarantee that the number one complaint lobbed at GameCube is "it's for kids". This reputation is unfounded in my opinion. Nintendo has gone to great lengths to create games for all ages. I'm sure you already know this, so I guess I'm preaching to the converted in a sense...but I'm sure you can understand the annoyance it causes. Nintendo as a first party studio has been focusing on "all age" titles for many years, but all you have to do to confirm Nintendo's all ages policy is take a look at Canadian second party, Silicon Knights. SK recently allowed the media to play a nearly complete version of Eternal Darkness. The game's creator was saying that they "didn't hold back" when it came to the game's dark, gritty style. Given that SK is partly owned by Nintendo...and given that Nintendo EAD assisted in development of Eternal Darkness, I find it hard to believe that the kiddie complaint can be attached to Nintendo anymore than any other company.
Originally posted by kuja i hope u all realized this is an april fools joke and probably wont happen... anyway yes i understand GTA3 is a technoligcaly good game... but would it sell if people were forced to be 17 to get the game? at the store i work at we DONT sell it to you if your under 17 so we dont sell that many cause kids come in on their own to get it. (we actually made the news for that) but this game is AIMED at kids yet has a M on it o.o. now i think this game would play BETTER on the cube than it did the ps2... the rounded graphics *drools* would be nice. i own 4 times more gcn games than i do ps2 games (so what if i dont actually have a ps2 but have games for it). anyway this game wouldnt be near what it is without the gore and mature themes. and yes... the gcn will have a lot more M games than the N64 and will also have GREAT T/E games where as how may E games do u own for a ps2?
I had some trouble understanding that. lol Capital letters and paragraphs would help, kuja. ;) Anyway, I think that the bottom line is that there is a huge stigma when it comes to GameCube. Despite the console having everything from Metroid Prime and Perfect Dark Zero to Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil...some will still be happy to call it a kiddie console. It's ridiculous. When/if GTAIII is announced for 'cube, I don't think anyone should be surprised.

You must be on the map somewhere...otherwise the rest of us won't necessarily understand what's going on or how your story relates to the rest of the plot.
Exactly. This is why I really hate the whole "Nintendo kiddie" thing. Because half the people who say that are only about 12 or 13 years old.
