1. The pair walked for at least another hour in the darkness, until eventually, they came across an Inn. Satoru had promised Denki that they would stop at the first Inn they came across. This particular Inn was called "Rainbow of Junon". They both stepped inside and approached the reception desk. Receptionist: Hello! Good to see you...interested in a room? Satoru: Yes, please. Any room...we don't really care. Receptionist: Oh, good, good. The receptionist flicked through some papers for a moment. Receptionist: So, how long have you two been together? Satoru: Excuse me? Receptionist: You know, how long have you been going out for? Satoru looked around, confused. Receptionist: *sigh* Ahh, I'm guessing you have no idea what kind of Inn this is. Satoru: No...what kind of Inn is it? Receptionist: It is an Inn for gay couples. Satoru: WHAT?! :nervous: Receptionist: Well didn't the name of our establishment pretty much give it away? Satoru: D'oh...I didn't even think about it... Receptionist: So, are you going to stay or not? Satoru: Ugh...how far is the nearest Inn from here? Receptionist: Well...it's several blocks away. Denki: I'm tired! C'mon Satoru...who cares, it's only for one night. Satoru: Bah...alright, alright. Receptionist: Splended! :D Satoru: -_- Receptionist: Your room is number 103 on the second floor. Here's your key. I hope you enjoy your stay! The receptionist beamed as he handed the key to Satoru. Satoru and Denki began walking up the stairs to their room. As Satoru pushed open the door, he noticed a double bed in the middle of the room. Satoru: You can sleep on the floor... Denki: But... Satoru: No! I paid for the damn suite...the least you can do is sleep on the floor! Denki: Okay...:( Satoru sat on the bed. He wondered what would become of him. If only the tabloids of Midgar knew where President Shinra was staying... :drunk:
  2. Heh, I still have my original gold cartridge which I bought when the game first released more than ten years ago... I still even have the metallic gold cover which it came in...and it's still in great condition. :) 'tis a good game...I enjoyed it. Much darker than the first game I thought...and pretty tough as well. :)
  3. I just want to say that we don't encourage people to post threads about their own sites -- that's what signatures are for. ShadowGohan, please do not permit these threads in your forum in future. :)
  4.
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig Halo isn't a bad game...but it doesn't really add much to the FPS genre, having so many FPS games out there...though it is very entertaining two or four friends...
Yeah, I agree with that. I've become a bit annoyed at the FPS genre as a whole lately...there is just so little innovation at the moment. I mean, I remember when Bungee were talking about Halo early on and saying how it would "revolutionize multiplayer gaming" etc etc etc...well, I didn't expect much...and I didn't get much, in the sense that there was nothing particularly innovative there. I would say that I prefer Halo however...mostly for its multiplayer mode. Max Payne was alright for a little while...but eh, it was pretty boring and fairly flat...I can't say I really found it very interesting.

I advise you to read our forum rules before you continue posting. :)
  6. I think you will find that none of the games relate to each other, much like the Final Fantasy series. Zelda is about gameplay, not story. So therefore, whenever I play a new Zelda...I notice that the stories often seem to contradict one another. That is, they don't flow in a continuous (or even deliberate) pattern. I believe that each game is a reinterpretation of the Zelda universe in some way...sometimes being a "what if" scenario...or sometimes being a loose sequel (like Majora's Mask).
  7.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Which just goes to proove how unfunnt Sienfied was in the first place....
If you don't find the simple irony of Seinfeld funny...then you sir have no sense of humor! Also, the show was written largely by Jerry Seinfeld...the others were just actors. Thus, if they went somewhere else, I frankly wouldn't expect them to be funny lol. So I don't see how that proves Seinfeld was unfunny or whatever...:drunk: Anyway, back to discussions of oiled up men wrestling...and then we can talk about Smackdown. :drunk: :worried:
  8.
Originally posted by _Shiro Amada_ Yet, Square hasn't made any announcements about even moving the SNES Final Fantasy's to any new Nintendo system. Not to mention Square moved ported those games a long "ace" time ago to the Playstation. So don't keep your hopes up, I am going to E3 this year as well, so unless Square makes ealrier announcements, which they probably won't, wait until I bring in the scoop this summer.
You're 100% wrong there, Shiro. First off, one of Square's senior designers confirmed only two or three days ago that Final Fantasy Tactics will indeed be appearing on GBA. Moreover, it will be a new version of FFT, which will include new graphics and a new gameplay system. Furthermore, I don't really believe you when you say you went to E3...I mean, first off you have to be over 18 (and I don't believe you are) and secondly, you have to be a part of the gaming media or a gaming company -- the general public are not permitted. Nevertheless, I would submit that you should actually get your facts straight before commenting. Kuja is quite right to speculate about Final Fantasy on GameCube, even though it is highly unlikely that Square will "leave behind" the PlayStation 2 -- it's just not realistic. But that doesn't mean that games like Final Fantasy Unlimited can't or won't appear on GameCube, as GCN development is said to be a condition of Square's GBA development. Sony's stake in Square is totally irrelevant -- as these games are being published under a different name and so technically, they aren't being published by Square (even though Square is developing the games). Therefore, this loophole allows Square to produce whatever the hell they want for Nintendo, as they aren't doing it under their own trading name.
  9.
Originally posted by kuja it was joint work for the SNES add on... then it fell threw for the N64 and sony made the PSX using ideas from that... nintendo wouldnt SELL something like that *roflmao*
Yep, correct. Had Nintendo not backed out on the deal, the Sony PlayStation would not exist...and instead we would have seen a "SNES PlayStation". Kind of interesting how things work out. Nintendo originally intended for the PlayStation to add expandability for the SNES -- this was at the time when CDs were first being introduced. But Nintendo was unhappy with the quality of Sony's work and moreover, I think Nintendo realized that add-on units are rarely successful (SEGA, anyone?)...so it was really a combination of factors which ceased the project. And of course, at that time, Nintendo began working with Silicon Graphics Inc. on "Project Reality" (aka Nintendo 64). And now the PlayStation has become a successful console, thanks largely to Sony's unique marketing push and strong contact with third party publishers. It's interesting to think that had Nintendo kept the deal going, PlayStation would not be what it is now...and maybe the entire industry would be different.

  11.
Originally posted by Shyguy If I remember correctly the japanese arcade cabinet of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 allowed Dreamcast owners to earn points on their home games by including a special VMU slot. This allowed the player to earn extra levels and characters (all of which could be unlocked without playing it at arcades.) That feature was removed from the American release of the game because it was thought that the concept would never catch on in the US. A similar incident could happen here, but this is only my personal speculation.
Yeah I see what you mean, but you must remember that Marvel vs Capcom 2 and the Dreamcast are much more obscure than something like GameCube and F-Zero.
  12. I think that this news is enormous -- maybe you can't see it. This is huge news primarily because it deals with Nintendo entrusting SEGA with one of its own franchises. This is a very rare thing -- Nintendo has never really done this before, except with second parties (and even they are owned partly by Nintendo itself). Nevertheless, the creative potential is huge. There is already talk of players being able to make tracks in the GameCube version (using the SD Memory Card, which has yet to be released) and actually taking that to the arcades...and playing your custom track on the arcade version. Of course, it's just speculation...but what other reasons would there be for using memory cards between arcade and console? Certainly, other things could be done (such as custom vehicles and bonus features), but this could really be the feature which will sell the SD Card.
  13. Yeah, I read this on PlanetGameCube.com! This is absolutely huge news -- SEGA, a long time arch rival of Nintendo taking one of its own franchises! Amusement Vision is an utterly brilliant arcade developer, so I have absolutely no worries about this game being good. Moreover, I think that this demonstrates that Nintendo is bending over backwards to reclaim its "golden era". At the very least, all of these recent developments will help to further solidify Nintendo's overall position. I'm very encouraged by this report...and I would love to see more franchises hit the arcades in joint developments.
  14.
Originally posted by Shyguy I would love to see a Cowboy Bebop section added to the site, in fact I am working on it now... even though I hadn;t told Adam and Rick about it yet (mua ha ha!) I am going to unleash the stuff on them one day without any warning and they will be forced to add a Bebop section to the site, I am a pure genius! And a Record of Lodoss war section would be good too...
Cowboy Bebop is in the works. :) We also have about three or four new sections planned, as well as some new major extensions to theOtaku.com. So there you go, that's a fairly big spoiler lol...although I won't say anymore, otherwise Adam or Rick might hunt me down. Heheh. Hopefully my new section will launch today or tomorrow. :)
  15.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve BTW, due to this topic's lack of facts and the fact that IF time travel were 100% possible it's be on the news with cloning... this topic is here-by releaved of it's duty.
Actually, I was quite impressed with this topic until it degenerated a little bit too far. Time travel is indeed physically possible, Transtic. It's just that we don't have the technology to allow it to occur -- the same goes for cloning, it's possible to clone perfectly...but we can't do it right yet. Anyway, I think that's a bit beside the point. I hope that Apokronos realizes that it is important to remain civil on these forums -- regardless of the debate. In this case, I think that Deus_Ex does come off being a little more credible in terms of his arguments. However, I would also say that if you are truly interested in science, Apokronos, you should allow for others to hold their points of view if they are willing to back them up. :)
  16. After almost a year of working primarily on OtakuBoards and other ventures, I have decided to get involved directly in theOtaku.com again. I will be personally running an all-new section on the site -- and you'll find out what it is in the coming days (not like it's hard to guess though lol). If I can do okay with my new section (and if time permits), I may broaden and start working on a second area. Just out of interest, what anime would you like theOtaku.com to cover, which we currently don't cover?

    Passion

I am passionate about creating things -- any things. I want to end up a project manager for someone like Nintendo (which is what I've been working towards somewhat)...it's a difficult goal to attain, but it's one which I would love to get to. I actually worked on a small game design team a while ago and we did some stuff for PC...and I was so passionate about creating an interactive world -- I love the idea that my own vision can be something which others are freely exploring. So yeah, that would be my number one passion. I like to write sometimes...whether it be expressing my views or whether it be telling a story. I'm not the best storyteller, but sometimes I seem to do quite well. But all in all, I think creation is my most passionate element. I love to create new things.
  18. "Zim, you look so healthy! And such plentiful organs, too!" That's my favourite quote from the show. lol...you know, that episode where he steals all the kids' organs and replaces them with cans of food and animals...:drunk:
  19. Satoru and Denki looked at each other. Satoru laughed; Denki looked ridiculous in his SOLDIER uniform -- it was at least one size too small. Denki: Well it's the biggest one he had... :( Satoru: Heheh, yeah I know. It's okay. Denki: So how are we gonna get to Midgar? Satoru: We'll have to get on board one of the large frieghters in the port... Denki: Oh. Denki led Satoru back the way they came -- they had been walking nearly all night and everything was starting to get lighter. Satoru looked at his watch; it was 6:00AM. He was tired and he knew that they couldn't do very much in their current state. Satoru: Hey, how about we find an Inn to rest at before we continue? Denki: Ok, do you know of anywhere? Satoru: *shrug* Nope. Let's just stay at the first place we come across...
  20. Warlock, Syth and Rico reentered the ship. Rico put the small pyramid on a nearby desk, under a lamp and sat down infront of it. Rico: I wonder what it is... Syth and Warlock started shifting the titanium into the ship's storage area. Syth tapped his personal communicator (a wrist-bound device which responded to the user's fingerprints) and leaned his face close to it. Syth: Salalia? Salalia: Hey Syth...how'd it go? Syth: Pretty well I think. I have more than enough titanium. But we found something that we want you to look at... Salalia: Oh? Syth: Yes, some sort of artifcact. We have no idea what it is, we thought you might. Salalia: Well, I'm not a historian, just a therapist... Syth: Heh, yeah, but you're smarter than all of us combined, you know that. ;) Salalia: Yeah, you have a point...alright, I'll come and check it out. Just let me finish my coffee first. Syth: Sure thing. Syth looked at Warlock as he began lifting another sheet of titanium. Syth: Women...
  21. Finally, they reached an old wooden door. It looked as though it had been there for several hundred years -- the only thing which made it look occupied was the fact that a soft light could be seen eminating from behind it. Satoru was a little nervous -- he'd never been to any underground places before. But he trusted Denki. Denki rapped on the door with his knuckles. A few seconds later, a voice inside could be heard: ???: YEA!? WHAT IS IT?! Denki: It's me!! Denki! ???: DENKI EH?! HMM...OKAY, COME IN! THE DOOR'S OPEN! Denki glanced at Satoru (who looked a little uneasy) and pushed the door open. Satoru held his nose -- the smell inside the dimly lit room was much like burnt rubber. Sitting on the walls and shelving around the room were various rubber masks with wigs. And in the very centre of the room was a rather large, bald man. He was carving a face onto a piece of wood -- making a mould with it. ???: HEY THERE DENKI! HOW ARE YA? Denki: I'm great, uncle. Satoru leaned over to Denki and whispered... Satoru: Why is he yelling? Denki: He's partly deaf... Satoru: Ohh, okay. The large man eyed Satoru suspiciously. ???: SO, WHAT IS HE DOING 'ERE EH? Denki: He is my friend...we are looking for disguises. ???: AHH YES, WELL...DISGUISES ARE INDEED MY FORTE! FEEL FREE TO TAKE A LOOK AROUND, MR...ERR... Satoru: My name is Satoru, what's yours? ???: MY NAME IS UNCLE HERB. THAT'S WHAT EVERYONE CALLS ME. Satoru: Oh...ermm...pleased to meet you. :) UNCLE HERB: DITTO! Denki walked across the room and began to talk with Uncle Herb (who could be heard talking a mile away, thought Satoru). Satoru made his way around the store, closely examining various costumes and rubber masks. He noticed one costume which looked like an exact replica of a Shinra solider's outfit. Satoru: Hm, Denki...maybe we should buy some soldier uniforms...I mean, that way we can get into the Shinra offices in Midgar and find out what's going on. Denki: Yeah, maybe you're right... Satoru: How much, Uncle Herb? UNCLE HERB: WELL ER...I'D SAY THOSE COSTUMES WILL SET YOU BACK ABOUT 1000 GIL EACH. AND AN EXTRA 400 GIL PER MASK. Satoru: Whoa...expensive... UNCLE HERB: YEA WELL, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE...I DON'T GET MANY CUSTOMERS DOWN 'ERE! EHEHEH Satoru: Yeah...I see why... UNCLE HERB: WHA WAS THAT? Satoru: Er, nothing. :D Satoru took a mask and uniform for both himself and Denki. The pair walked into the back area of the store and tried their outfits on. Denki needed to squeeze a little to fit into his, but overall, they both looked the part. They walked out, still in their guard uniforms, and paid Uncle Herb -- who looked very pleased with himself. UNCLE HERB: AHAH GOOD, WHAT A SUCKER...ER....I MEAN, NICE DOING BUSINESS WITH YOU! Satoru: Er, sure. Thanks for the help. :drunk: Denki: Okay...let's go! Satoru: Yeah, let's get out of here...
  22.
Originally posted by NeoCactuar Yeah, it was a joint effort, i admit it. It's just well, the aussies are allways geting TONS of praise and stuff, and well, yeah now that New Zealand has some, no-one wants to share, hehehhehe. Now... about the Kiwi thing, i won't get into the whole story, mabye if you really beg me i will, but... The Kiwi is supposed to be New Zealand native bird, right? Well a couple of years back, some scientist from Australia, who were in New Zealand, said that they had found evidence of fossils, that prove when New Zealand and Australia were joined (Gondwana land) that the Kiwi originated in the northern part of Gondwana land, the part that was Australia, so yeah... they claimed it to have started in the part of Gondwana land that was Australia, therefore not being NZs native bird, but Australia's native bird that eventually 'moved' to NZ. So it was in the news and everything, then eventually the evidence was reviewed and the other scientists found that the Australian scientist had got there Latitude & Lontitude of the fossiles they were relating the fossils they found to, wrong. Somehow, i don't know how they did it, but it proved that it actually originated in the south, New Zealand... ...So yeah, that's about it... :p
Hm, that's interesting. I never heard that before. :) LotR was certainly a joint effort, but I do believe that it proved once and for all that New Zealand is really capable of some amazing things when under the right conditions. I mean, when you think about it...with something like the Oscars, there are rarely any non-American films. Yet lately, we are seeing American/Australian/NZ movies and not much from Europe or Asia. It's kind of strange...but I think it's a good thing. I'm glad that more investment is moving down here, because I think that movies made here tend to be more unique and less "Hollywood"...so that they provide a fresh view or something. Anyway, I'm rambling...bah.
  23.
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy You know, I got that information from a web site and I thought it sounded kinda early. But, after shuffling around, I found another site that says Mario Bros. came out in 1993. This is history in the making folks. For the first time, we have a movie that's so bad that no year wants to claim it! Anyway, the first movie based on a video game was "Tron" which came out in 1982. I bet that it's not very good though.
Yeap, 1993 sounds right. Although Tron wasn't based on a video game as such...I think Tron was supposed to be like a peek into the future -- in terms of what video games could become. Of course, this was the time when everyone thought VR was the future of gaming...and how wrong they were. lol
  24.
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy Nah, Mortal Kombat was made in 1995. The Mario Bros. movie came out in 1987. Anyway, I am sure that there were game to movie translations before this. I have a list somewhere, but I don't have the time to look right now...
Mario Bros. (the movie) came out in 1992, I believe. :)
  25.
Originally posted by NeoCactuar Yeah i agree with you Flash, there may have been some aussies on the production of LotR, but there were way more NZers, filmed in NZ & Directed by a NZer. Not being a Patriotic sellout, but this was definatly more of a NZ movie... i'm only saying this 'cause i don't want the aussies to steal any more of out stuff, like they claimed the pavlova, the buzzy bee & even the KIWI!!! Yes the KIWI, but i won't get into that...
Hm, since when did Australia steal the Kiwi? lol And really, who would want to steal the Kiwi? hehe...just kidding. ;) Actually, from what I've read (and seen on television), LotR featured a lot of Australians -- specifically in terms of special effects and financing. Of course, all the extras were from New Zealand and the movie's director was indeed a New Zealander -- he did a very good job too. :) I personally consider Lord of the Rings to be a New Zealand movie -- just as I consider The Matrix to be an Australian movie (considering both used American actors...which I kind of disapprove of somewhat). But I think that the combination of NZ's fantastic scenery and direction...combined with Australia's advanced special effects production and photography, really helped to make the movie very special. In any case, I think that LotR should have won -- it was an epic movie and far less boring than something like Gladiator...which won a whole host of awards at the previous Oscars.
