Originally posted by GinnyLyn Oh, you're remembering Fiver, the one who could see the future. The main character is actually his brother, Hazel. Beyond those two and Bigwig (Thylali), the movie didn't keep much with the book's hero charas. I remember Dandelion and Blackberry and Pipkin (Hlao-Roo) and all sorts of stuff. And Kehaar, the cussing bird! Blackberry: *to the injured Kehaar* We can help you-- Kehaar: *obviously irritated* Piss off! :rotflmao:
Ahh yes. Now I remember. :) Fiver annoyed the absolute hell out of me...he was constantly fearing death...it was incredibly annoying. I think I remember a bird from the movie...but I don't remember it cursing...lol.
Originally posted by Squashed Snail well, I'm on both sides. I'm for the fact that it is a great game, but I'm against the fact that you can engage in sexual acts and stuff like that....
Yeah, but the thing is...people's opinion on the game is irrelevant. As long as the game is given an appropriate rating (to make sure that at least under 15's can't play it), then I think it's fine. If people don't like the content, they don't have to play it. That's the great thing about freedom of choice. :)
Originally posted by Squashed Snail I don't think it will, only GTA made it to PC........ and anyway, GTA3 is now banned in Australia.
It hasn't yet been banned. The publisher is appealing the decision. It sucks though, our ratings are too low. We need an R 18+ rating for games here...that way, a lot of games that would otherwise not be released would have a chance (such as GTA3). It surprises me though...this country has always been fairly liberal about censorship...not like America. I hope this trend doesn't continue. :(
Originally posted by GinnyLyn The rabbit you speak of is known as the Black Rabbit of Inlé (lupine for Moon). He is like Watership Down's Grim Reaper-comes for rabbits when it is time for them to die. To be honest with you, the book is MUCH better than the movie. At least to me. One of my fab parts of the movie was the animation of the creation story--but it got gruesome fast.
Ahh yes! I remember now... I should read the book. Even remembering bits out of the movie is weird for me...perhaps because I saw it at a relatively young age. I remember the main character kind of being followed around by that rabbit...like it was waiting for him. Is that right? The main character (from what I remember), seemed to be really timid...and he was always talking about death and stuff...
Originally posted by BabyGirl ...! I just remembered that I saw that movie a very long time ago...and it was indeed scary! I never linked the book and the movie though...the book wasn't as dark and scary as the movie. The book is great, I should go read it again.
Yeah, I saw the movie a long time ago...and I do remember a few specific parts of it. I'll have to rent it again, just to see it...maybe I'd have a better understanding now that I'm older. But it was very scary when I watched it. Almost every part of it seemed really sad... And that black rabbit, it was like a dream/hallucination that the main character kept having...I forget what it symbolized. But it kept kind of following him wherever he went. The ending was scary too, when the general went into the warren and was killing everyone...very freaky. Not really a little kids' movie now that I think about it lol.
Originally posted by Master O Beans Is this a cartoon/anime? ...or an actual movie? ...I just might have to check it out!
Nah, it's nothing like an anime at all. It's a cartoon. But the art style is generally more...how can I put it..."lush" than anime. A lot of anime tends to be very raw, barebones design (particularly Dragonball), while this movie is more like english cartoons whereby the backgrounds look hand-painted. In any case, it's strange because even though it's about rabbits...it's supposed to be a serious story in a realistic setting. As I said, I saw it many years ago...so I only remember parts of it. But it's a good movie to watch if you feel like something very involving.

Gah, most of you are talking about Mega Man as an anime series or a cartoon...but that has nothing to do with the real Mega Man series. Don't you guys even remember the original game on NES? It's the only one I ever played (besides some of the MMX games) and in my opinion, it was the very best. It had awesome character design...amazing levels and beautiful graphics (for the time). If any of you haven't played it, you should go out and get a copy as soon as possible ;)
Originally posted by Master O Beans ...what's the deal with rabbits?? I didn't know they wrote books just about Rabbits!!??!! Well, except for Peter The Rabbit, but that's a childrens book...so what is it that you guys are reading?!?! do inform do inform pweease!:glasses:
I never read the book, but I saw the animated movie years ago... Watership Down is nothing like Peter Rabbit or anything...it's very strange and very sad. There's quite a lot of darkness and violence in it...it's hard to explain lol. You have to watch it for yourself. It's worth watching though. :)

Greatest achievement? My greatest achievement so far would probably be that starting this month, I'm going to be writing for Nintendo Gamer Magazine here in Australia. It's soon to become Nintendo Australia's official mag, too. So I consider it my greatest achievement so far...but I hope it's not my last great achievement. ;)

Whats everyone doing for X-Mas or Hanakuh?
Originally posted by *GaLxY-GiRl* I think I may go to the beach on Christmas :wow:. Hey, I live in Florida, okay..... it's a damn shame. It's like, 85 degrees outside, the A.C. is blasting, and the 'good' lord knows, it's only going to get hotter before Christmas rolls around. I have a discrepancy..... why are you people spelling Christmas, X-mas. If you celebrate Christmas, you technically believe in Christ, right? You shouldn't have to literally, ex out his name. People who don't have faith in Christ, spell Christmas as X-mas. Well, I don't believe in Christ..... but I still spell Christmas, christmas.... go figure. :therock: I'm doing it again! Why do my posts always turn into lectures? How to tell...
Well, I don't believe in Christ, yet that doesn't mean I can't celebrate Christmas. My grandparents are highly religious (dangerously so) and they come and have a big lunch with us every Christmas. I personally see Christmas as a time of peace and giving, rather than for its religious significance. However, I also feel that Christmas is different for everyone. Everyone takes what they want from it...and that's why it's become so universal. -
Originally posted by GinnyLyn I do not believe in evolution (not even Digimon or Pokémon wise, sides, that's metamorphosis like a caterpillar to butterfly), nor do I believe in reincarnation.
Sorry, I had to comment on that. You don't believe in evolution? Uhh, but evolution is a long proven fact. :) People often call it "evolution theory", however, there is no theory as to evolution existing; we know it does. We know that animals in nature adapt to changing conditions, this is called evolution. The theory part is actually on how it works. There are multiple ideas on how it works in nature, but no one concrete basis of how it works. Just needed to clear that up, because the whole non-evolution thing really annoys me. *sighs* OK, stepping in your post here, but let me clear up, please. I meant human wise, from monkeys to apes. Or the thoughts of cows evolving from dolphins or whatnot. Now, stuff like animals changing to adapt (ie-birds evolving better beaks etc.) is different, but somehow I doubt I'm going to explain what I mean. ~~GinnyLyn
Originally posted by MysticGohan Thanks alot man! That site helped out alot! - I am still kind of confused on which console to get. Xbox seems to be the best in graphics and GC just looks appealing. But I still like PS2 and it's "wall" of games. Like everyone says, it just comes down to your opinion on which console is the best. I guess I need a little mroe time to think about which console I really want and how much money I am willing to spend. Well, thanks again! - MG
Some advice; don't think about specs. Specs are completely unimportant. When you're playing a brailliant and engrossing videogame, you're not sitting there thinking "Hmm, the processor speed is amazing...and the texture layers are astounding". You're thinking about the task at hand -- playing and enjoying the game. So rather than consider the number of games or the level of hardware specs, it's best to consider what type of games you like...and think about the quality of games on each system and whether or not any of the systems have games that you really want to play.

Well let me start by saying that you should ignore most of the replies here, unless they link to an unbiased website lol. What I will say is that you should visit http://cube.ign.com and look for the link where it says "an honest overview of gamecube hardware?" or something like that. They link to a site which also has specs/analysis of Xbox and PS2 hardware. Very interesting reading. :)

Yeah, it's important to try and keep the quality of the threads as high as possible in General Discussion. We've had a flood of really crappy threads lately...
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig I dunno...it feels like the people at Sony sold out the early buyers with overheating, slower load times (due to a weaker laser), choppy FMV streaming, and this issue with hangups on newer PSX games... But I guess they had their reasons.
They didn't do it deliberately. This is why they introduced different models. When a manufacturing problem is detected in one batch, it's changed for the second batch. In this case, it was improved laser/lense, improved cooling system etc. That way, they can iron out any hardware problems. I can remember when the PSX first came out and people were saying how unreliable and crappy it was because it kept breaking. But now, the later versions of PSX (especially PSOne), have no such problems.

I'm going to add another 10 or 20 by the end of the week.

Each version was produced in a production cycle. And usually, the version changes with each cycle. This could be for a number of reasons: different parts being used, additional piracy controls etc...
Originally posted by The Elite DBZ Although I love the N64, that RAM expansion really had its problems. It would sometimes slow the games down. I heard the GC will be bundling a broadband internet deal for those of us living in England, since our government is paying £30 million to get us broadband internet connections. But it's been delayed until November! :cussing: :flaming:
That wasn't the fault of the RAM pack, it was actually down to the individual game's programming. It's highly unlikely that Nintendo will package a broadband connection with the GameCube. Nintendo themselves have said that they won't be doing this, but moreover, they won't be entering the online gaming arena until there is either the demand or the appropriate business model. Also, I presume you're referring to the GameCube being delayed. It hasn't actually been delayed to November. This is a rumor; nothing more. It's more likely that it will arrive somewhere between March and June in the UK.
Originally posted by jcgoudy The GCN does have three ports on its bottom. One of them is going to be used for the 56K Modem/Broadband Adapter, but that still leaves two... One of them, I know, is a high speed port that could be used with something like a hard drive. We'll just have to wait and see...
Yes, the GCN has three ports underneath. But you don't use one port for both modem varieties. One port is for a 56K dial-up modem and the other port is a high-speed communications port, used for broadband connections. The third port is a general purpose dataport. Nintendo always puts these ports on its consoles, just incase. When Nintendo put the memory expansion and EXT port on N64, they had no specific ideas at the time as to how they would use them. They put them there just incase they wanted to use them in future.

The problem with this is that there is no explanation as to what the device would do. Speeding up your console is of no consequence. It won't make your game run faster or smoother. For a device like this to work, a company has to develop the game specifcially to take advantage of that device. And Nintendo hate add-ons. I doubt you'll see a memory expansion with GameCube. They kind of needed it to keep N64 alive...but they won't approach it with GameCube I don't think.

Based on staff suggestion, I've added a few more smilies. OtakuBoards.com now has a total of 64 smilies. I might add some more in the future, but for now...there is more than enough to keep everyone going.

Yeah, I have to question the relevance of this topic a little... The two freakiest music videos on earth are: Windowlicker -- Aphex Twin Come to Daddy -- Aphex Twin Watch those two and Chop Suey will look like Britney Spears. lol They're both very strange...very surreal.

One day, when there is more proof to support theories on the creation of the Universe, one side or the other will be able to say that they were right. While I can't wait for the day when I can say "I told you so", I think that we've had this kind of topic over and over again. Everyone has their own opinions/beliefs. If you are curious as to what people think, you're best to go back and read old topics on this subject. But it's inappropriate to bring them up again and again.
