Originally posted by Cloud Strife00 that goes back to the "sprit board" that i was talking about. Those Spheres add to a stat or ability by so much. Like in ff7 you can put them in certain areas such as attack power or stealing. Also, in case some of you haven't heard this already, you can use summons and they come out as a real playable character for the battle.
Yep. Your summon has its own life and its own moves/capabilities. You can use your summon strategically in battle. Also, a lot of people complained that in FFVII and VIII there was the lack of a true "job system". A system which was more prevalent in FFIX. However, the beauty of FFX is that you can create your own job system to some extent. You can mould each character specifically...so overall, the game is much more customizable. This means that everyone who plays the game can have a slightly different outcome in the development of their fighers. It's a really interesting concept. I can't wait to try it out.

So Hbomb, our savior, old admin.,greatest admin to ever have(Other than Adam,no offence other admins but the boards...) Also the deadly truth has been revealed..... Otaku Is Starting To Suck. SO praise the lord your back, plz bring peace back to us o' great one. (Newbies are becoming Mods, and aren't doing there jobs!HELP!j/k)
I don't know where this "new otaku stigma" came from. If you don't like it here, then get out. I'm sick of complainers like yourself. It's incredibly stupid and rude to be so against newbies like you are...I mean, you yourself would be considered a newbie on this forum. And you yourself were once a newbie on the old forums. So it's ridiculous to complain from that aspect. And as for our mods...I think they're doing a great job. In actual fact, our mods are doing a better job than any mods before them. On Version 2.0, it seemed that mods were chosen fairly arbitrarily...for no particular reasons. Now we choose people who we think will be great at the job. And it's worked. Perhaps you liked Hbomb as an Admin because he let a lot of stuff slide. Well, you have to remember that both Adam and I equally agree to the rules on this board. I often get lumbered with the complaints because I'm the more active of the two of us...but I don't think it's fair. In any case, it's your kind who make the boards suck. You waltz in ...you complain and crap on about how the newbies suck (and most of them have much better post quality than you) and you somehow think that because you've been around for a while that you know better than everyone else. Well you don't. The poor quality of your post makes you no more senior than anyone else here. At least try to argue your point in a sensible manner in future. EDIT: Sorry if I was a bit harsh, but I think that some of your statements were very unfair and rude. Don't presume to know what you don't know.

Well, the other night I went to a rollerblading place with my sister and brother. It was an indoor place and it had a big plastic rink thingy... The place itself is so crappy...it's a 70's throwback (yes, all its walls are in blue carpet...lol). Anyway, we were sitting at this table talking and this guy walked past us...he wasn't exactly elderly...he was probably around 55-60 or so. And at first, he just stood there near our table. He looked really uncomfortable...like the heat was getting to him (even though it wasn't hot in the building). So anyway, he stood next to the barrier which seperates the rink from the food court (the barrier is like a big carpeted lump...it's disgusting). He leant down...and started wiping his face along the barrier. He was trying to hide the fact that he was doing it...but we could see that he was trying to wipe the sweat from his face off on the barrier (I'm never touching those barriers again). He then proceeded to start skating. We then decided to ignore him...and went back to talking the usual crap that we talk at that place. Our conversation usually consists of pointing out the homies (there are HEAPS of 'em there) and the chicks who wear way too much makeup. We were also talking about a girl who was dancing to the music in the place...and man...she was so uncoordinated...we couldn't stop giggling. Anyway... The old guy came back off the rink once he'd stopped skating. He sat down at the table behind us. And a few minutes later, my sister said "hey...look behind you". I turned around and noticed that he'd taken off his skates...and had proceeded to crawl under the table. lol He was crawling around looking for something... But the thing is, the carpet on the floor is very flat...and very clean. You'd see a pin laying on the floor from a mile away. It's like searching for a black button on a white tile floor -- very easy to find. He kept crawling around in circles under the table...it was very weird. Anyway, that's my story about old people. A little off track...but hey, it's nearly 2am here right now. I'm allowed to ramble.

I am amazed by the Segway HT (Segway Human Transport is it's final name). I think that, based on the posts I've seen here...most people don't understand what's so incredible about it. Go to http://www.segway.com to take a better look. It's basically a platform with two wheels and handles. However, despite only having two weels and no engine...it stands up on its own. Its onboard software mimmicks human intertia and balance. To move forward, you simply lean forward very slightly. It uses senors to detect your weight movement (however subtle) and starts silently rolling foward. To turn, you just move your wrist slightly. It's amazing. It only requires 5c of electricity per day (for a full 28 kilometers of travel) to operate. Apart from being awesome fun to use (the Amazon.com boss was skeptical before he tried it...and it was so magical and weird that he loved it and instantly wanted to buy one), it's also a big solution to a lot of problems. For example, in developing countries where people can't afford cars...it's an ideal solution. And it's great for elderly people who can neither drive (due to age), nor walk great distances. The technology is absolutely groundbreaking. Even if you lean all the way forward...it won't tip over. That's because it's able to mimmick the human "inner-ear" in order to keep its balance. I'm intrigued by it...and I can't wait to try one for myself when it is available.
Originally posted by SephirothNIN Hmmm FFX's system resembles FF9's the most, where each party member has their own specific skill. I know tidus has party-enhancing techniques, yuna has summons, lulu does the black magic thing, etc. It also takes a piece from 6 in that anyone can learn magic if they wanted to, which comes from that weirdo spirit globe thing. The way I understand it is that u spend AP or whatever u get after battles on a globe, and, like FF Tactics, u can buy different skills or status-boosters that way, seems...ok...I also heard that like Braeth of Fire 4, u can switch ur party members on the fly. No more ATB either ::sniff::. Instead u get a grandia-like line where you can see who goes when....I dunno I just hope the limit breaks aren't insanely ez to do like 8, extremely rare like 6, or always coming up at the wrong time like 9 >

The SNES logo was cool, it was Mario's eyes and eyebrows. It actually took me a while to realize that lol. But when I realized...I took a closer look and you can see it. :) It was a cool logo.
Originally posted by BabyGirl Liar :p But, due to the fact that there are indeed quite a few horny young fellows (and, uh, ladies) around here... ...I see your point. Heh :smirk:
Well considering that we focus on community works...people would have to send in their own content. So that could become a little...awkward. lol. Perhaps we should just stick with our current future plans. We'll keep OtakuPorn.com and OtakuHentai.com on the shelves for a little while longer. ;)
Originally posted by kizu Oh i am so happy :) , my mom is going Chirstmas shopping with my grandma tommorrow and asked me if there is anything that i would like her to get my grandma to pick up. So i said that i wouldn't mind Pikmin for GC. She said that she would try to have grandma get it for me. The thing is, that i don't have a GC yet. So I have a good guess at what i am getting for Christmas. I love my mom.
A similar thing happened to me on my 18th birthday this year. My parents said that since I was turning 18, I could do whatever I wanted for my birthday. And they suggested a few really adult things...like watching a symphony performance live (something I've always wanted to do, but never done) and a few other things. And I said "Eh, I'd like a PS2." lol. I didn't expect to get one or anything...I didn't really care what I got. I never know what I want anyway. But the next day, my mum had gone out to buy lunch for everyone...and it was just an average day...nothing special. She came home about an hour late...and all I could think about at the time was "where's my lunch?" lol. She told me to wait a moment, and she came in with a huge plastic bag, containing a shiny new PS2 and a game. It was a big surprise. hehe She was late because she'd been looking everywhere for one. They had sold out at all of the local stores. So she really tried hard to get it. She's great. :)

There are a number of studies which have been done on this issue in the past few years, however, there is no evidence that violent games invoke violent reactions in children. I often hear about how "playing Doom gave the kids ideas about killing people" etc etc. However, the individuals who committed the horrible acts at Columbine High School were obviously already mentally disturbed. They went looking for violent games because those games fed their desire for violence. If violent games didn't exist, they would have gone and searched for violent movies or books. Also, it wasn't a case of "the violent game causing the violent reaction". Rather, it was a case of "the violent person seeking out the violent game". I play violent videogames, yet I am an incredibly peaceful person in real life. I can see games for what they are -- fake. It's up to parents to make sure that children can understand what is and isn't acceptable, but I think that we often blame the parents. For some reason, society is reluctant to actually hold the purpetrators of the crimes accountable. Still, I know that censorship runs rampant in the United States...and I really hope that Australia never sees that level of censorship -- I think it's a barrier to understanding and acceptance.

Biggest vanity eh? Hmm...my biggest vanity is probably my body (even though I don't think I'm particularly attractive, I like my body). But I think that at the same time, I can be a really self conscious person. I never ever leave the house without being very well dressed...and I'm not sure why that is. I don't even really consciously think about it. I mean, most people are happy to wear a tracksuit or whatever to their local mall on a Sunday...but not me lol. I think it also ties in to the fact that I tend to buy very expensive clothes. But once again...I have no idea why. For some reason I just hate the idea of being badly dressed in public. I think it might come from my parents...they're very much like that. They hate going out anywhere without being very well dressed. *shrug*, I guess it's a habit. Other than that, I don't really know. There is nothing that I'm really consciously think about or anything...
Originally posted by Darkness My point is, if you suggest extreme measures, you should be fair to eveyone, regardless of where most of their posts are. With all respect, as admins, mods, gods or whatever, you all should keep things in perspective. That's just how I feel.
We created ranks with the idea that people would smoothly move up the ranks as they post. We have no problem with people liking their post counts, or aiming to achieve a higher rank...however, sometimes people deliberately spam in order to achieve the rank sooner. It's not about achieving the rank sooner -- the rank is designed to symbolize how long that member has been at OtakuBoards.com. So it's got nothing to do with post counts -- we just use post counts as an indicator to provide an idea as to how long each member has been here. Ranks have much more to do with time than post activity. And therefore, we've made it so that people's post counts won't go up in the Introduction, Suggestions and Test forums. That way, there can be very little abuse of the system. This measure is definitely designed to keep things in perspective. It provides a fair chance to those who are abiding by the rules and posting with good quality.

I applied to write for a site called Absolute Sega.com And just as I applied...Absolute Sega merged with theOtaku. I had written my first article for the site, when Absolute Sega was dumped and Absolute Xbox was created in its place. So I did some writing for Absolute Xbox and Absolute GameBoy, before then running my own section: Absolute GameCube. *sigh* It's a shame that it was so short lived. It was a great site -- I stayed up all night covering E3 2001...and posting news items as soon as the information was available. I'd say that we were among the first sites to post new E3 info.

I can see where this could go. I don't feel that these boards are really mature enough to handle this kind of debate. We've seen these before, and they always end up with one group against another. There is usually very little in the way of real facts and it's difficult to say that one console is better than another, because it's all totally subjective. As I said to Crazy White Boy, I think we should focus on debates/topics which are more centered around specific games or game design theory or something. Let's get into more interesting and in-depth areas, that way we might be able to make this part of the site more interesting.
Originally posted by coolkam007 i dont know why.. but i never really felt anything during the whole WTC ordeal.. i dont know.. i just.. didn't feel it.. :/ .. i made the connection that people died.. i try to avoid the whole topic.. i dont want people to think i'm a heartless jerk..
It's okay not to cry. Sometimes people feel emotion in different ways. I was surprised myself. When I saw the second plane hit the building live on TV...I didn't feel teary, I just felt very anxious. My heart was beating very fast. But when the towers came down...I felt really emotional. I kept thinking about the terror that those people must have felt...the things that must have been running through their minds. And seeing the middle of NYC being a battlezone...it was just so alien, like something you'd see on a movie. It was so unbelievable. And I think also...the emotion came from the fact that I couldn't believe anyone would be so cruel or heartless as to fly planes into those buildings... I couldn't even comprehend what was going on at the time. And afterwards, I definitely felt different. I felt like small things don't matter...and I felt closer to my American friends. But anyway, I don't want this to become a "WTC thread". I was just trying to put into words how I felt. I'm sure many of you felt the same way.
