Originally posted by Transtic Nerve George Lucas has some facination with Aussies and British and Irish... almost all the characters from Episode I were from different countries liek Australia and Ireland.... Obi-wan was irish, Qui-gon was Australian or British.... Amidala, Anakin, and Palpatine I think were the only MAIN characters that weren't from another country.... but yeah... alot of yummy accents.... I think I'll be drooling during the movie....
Qui-Gon Jinn was played by Liam Neeson...he's Irish. He's cool, I've seen some of his other movies -- I thought he was perfect for the role.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve I saw the trailer the day it was released at StarWars.com... in fact I have it on my HD... anyway, I already know what happens and whos in this movie.... or well... I think I know what happens because no one but the people working on the movie knows what happens.... but I knew Boba Fett was in it.... and I know who plays Anakin, I foget his name, but he's hot!... and we'll see if my theory of Obi-wan Kenobi comes true. I will see it the first day as I did when Episode 1 came out :)
Yeah, Episode II looks to be better than Episode I. I am really interested to see it. It has nearly all Australian actors (Anakin is Aussie in this movie), as it was filmed here. So it'll be interesting to see how they used the different environments here. The trailer looked great though...it was much darker than Episode I...it looked more "mature". So I really can't wait to see what this movie is like.

I gave permission for this thread to exist. I informed the thread starter that it may only be posted here if he edits his original post rather than posting again and again. The type of TV you have doesn't affect the resolution of the game -- unless you're talking about digital television over analog television. However, some TVs are clearer than others, depending on the size and shape of the screen. Xbox's resolution is the same as PS2 and GameCube, the only difference is that sometimes the textures are rendered at lower resolution to preserve memory. The Xbox arguably doesn't handle textures as well as GameCube, as with many Xbox games we've seen so far, texture quality isn't all that good. Although some games buck that trend, Shrek is a game which has some really nice looking textures. But yeah...the difference between TVs is highly minimal.
Originally posted by Shyguy Doesn't that mean if he got Adam's (or yours, though you say he'll never figure it out) password and logged on as them, wouldn't he be able to block the others access? And then he could even prevent the access of the user he was pretending to be (super hypothetical situation, I am not conspiring with anyone to take down the boards) and prevent that user from ever being used again. It seems possible from the small ammount of information I have, but I am sure you have safeguards against that sort of thing. I hope :(
Well, if he logged on as Adam and I knew about it...I could simply block Adam's access. Adam can do the same with me. However, if worst came to worst and we were BOTH blocked from accessing the control software, we could simply contact VBulletin to have the site shut down remotely. That's the benefit you get when you actually pay for the software on your site -- even if we are blocked, we could have VBulletin shut it down for us and give us our access back. So don't worry, there is no danger of anything like that happening. :) And no..my password has nothing to do with Scrub Turkey. lol...that'd be much too obvious.

And I Was Wondering If Game Cube Will Have Something Like An Expantion Pak. As For My Friend,He's Full Of Crack! P.S. Like My Siggy?:drunk: :mrt: :butthead:
GameCube can't play N64 games, no. There is no way he could get a GameCube, unless he imported a Japanese version. As for the expansion pack...well, GameCube has no memory expansion ports that I know of. It does have several high-speed data ports underneath, but those are used for communications like dial-up and broadband modem. Nintendo would want to avoid selling add-ons as much as possible. The GameCube is very easy to develop for and as such, I think that Nintendo feel that they've hit a "performance plateau", in the sense that consoles are so powerful now, that they don't really need to be anymore powerful to achieve the desired result. Basically, developers can imagine any scenario and bring it to life with GameCube. That is how far the hardware has come. I hope that helps.

Well, I do know that some alcohol is actually beneficial for you. Doctors say that it's healthy to drink a glass of wine each day, because it helps to lower cholesterol and assists the heart. But I guess it's the old saying of "anything in moderation". Alcohol itself isn't bad, if you drink alochol in moderation...and only have fairly small amounts...it won't harm you at all. I only ever drink at parties or when I go out somewhere...and when I do that, I don't drink a great deal. I've never been drunk or sick from drinking...and when I see people getting drunk at a party, I instantly feel sorry for them...because the make themselves look like idiots and they go home sick...or pass out...and miss out on the fun. People who get drunk don't have enough self control with alcohol, and in my view, getting drunk is more immature than drinking a small amount. As for smoking...well...smoking is one of those things that should either be illegal, or the government should charge a 300% tax on packets of cigarettes. My parents both smoke, and as a result, I have mild asthma. There is no way in hell you can justify smoking. I mean, if you were sitting in a little dark room with no windows or doors...and it was only affecting you...then fine. You can sit there and make yourself utterly sick. But when you are smoking around others, it's not healthy. Lady Macaiodh mentioned her grandfather...well...he is an incredibly lucky man not to have died already. And does he have any sickness? Any coughing? He must have something of that nature. If he doesn't...as I said, he's lucky. 99% of smokers suffer from some sort of ailment. Even if you smoke occasionally, you still hurt those around you. So I have no sympathy for smokers and I feel that people who smoke (especially at a young age) have incredibly low will power. I sometimes see young kids smoking...like...14 year olds and such. And I feel a mixture of sadness for them...and a feeling of anger as well. It makes me sick that young kids can be so stupid, despite all the education there is these days for smoking. Anyway...I've rambled long enough. But in my opinion, there's never a justification for smoking. If you want to do it...go into the forest where you won't hurt anyone. But otherwise, I think it's totally fair to tell smokers to go outside or whatever...and not smoke in buildings. Yes, it's a choice...but it can only be upheld if it doesn't hurt other people.

Do you eat enough red meat and stuff like that? I had a period last year where I was like that...really exhausted all the time...and I never seemed to feel very alert. But I started eating more red meat, and it really worked wonders. So that could be the problem. If it's not that...it could be, as others have said...stress...or something similar. Do any other girls feel the way i do,?
Originally posted by MysticalShawty alright me and my b.f split up and i am really depressed and it has been 10 days since we have been done, and now i cant stop thinking about him, so i wrote a poem and gave it to him.,...he Crumpled it up without reading it, and i dont know HOW AM I SUPOSSED TO GET THREW TO HIM , that i still L...O....V...E... him,?? Please can anyone tell me, i have called him up and i tell him alot but he just ignores it, and then chanages the Subject.
This is very simple. You broke up...you still like him, but he's waay over you. Don't try to get back together with him...don't send him letters or anything like that. He doesn't like you anymore. That might sound harsh, but it's the absolute truth. Besides, why would you want to be with someone if they don't like you? I know you still have feelings for him, but you have to try to let them go (as painful as that is). It's foolish to try and get together with someone who doesn't feel the same about you. And even if you did...the relationship would crumble again anyway. What you need to do, is immerse yourself in your friends...and let him go. And wait for someone else. :) -
An IP ban is effectively permanent against someone's computer. It's true that people can rotate their IP, but that won't do them any good. This is because, if they came back and started mass spamming (like thimoc), both myself and Adam have the power to simply click one single button...and remove every single post they ever made within a couple of seconds. So you see...even if you reregister...it won't do you any good. It's very easy for us to stop mass spamming -- so people like thimoc can't do anything very effective. Anyway, I'd rather not talk about him. He just wants us to do that. He's pathetic, he comes back here to see what people are saying...I mean, how pathetic is that? Anyway...it doesn't worry me. There's simply nothing he can do to our site which bears any serious threat.

Gaming I played the xBox, The good, the bad and the ugly.
James replied to Princess Nadia's topic in Noosphere
Originally posted by Pave-Low The controller is one of the best parts of the new X-Box. Theres just somethign about it when you hold it in your hand it just fits perfectly, its like a missing body part being reattached. I know a bunch of people who feel this way too. X box will be great, When I played it the load times where no worse than PS2. and Munches oddessy loaded pretty fast. The graphics are great too. I like it cause it will blend the computer game market in with the console game market. On one last note, Nintendo really screwed the gamecube controller up. Wait until you get to try and play with it. They tried to copy the PS2 and just screwed it even more. I will not even think of buying a GC untill about a year after its launched cause I made the mistake of buying a 64 and only own a few games cause all the other where childrens games. Nintendo has tried to copy sony way to much this time.
Okay, well...you sound like an Xbox salesman with all that tripe. Let me begin by saying -- if you prefer the Xbox controller over the GameCube controller...well...you must have freaky hands. lol Nintendo put a great deal of thought into the GameCube controller, where as MS simply took other people's ideas and moulded them into an incredibly inefficient and ugly piece of plastic. And your comment about the N64 was totally wrong. Two aspects to that, one was that some of the world's most innovative games appeared on N64 (Super Mario 64, Pilotwings, Wave Race, Zelda etc) and secondly, the GameCube will have over 20 games available before Christmas. That's actually MORE than the Xbox in the same period of time. Thirdly, by what you've said, you sound like a kid. Therefore, a "kid's" machine would surely suit you well. In my opinion, all you're doing is following Microsoft's corporate advertising. You don't seem to care about true innovation or creativity...all you're worried about is peripheral things like "style" and "image". Therefore, I conclude that you're not a true gamer. As even if a true gamer didn't like GameCube very much, they would still appreciate the thought which went into its design, as true gamers are able to get past all of the corporate rhetoric and appreciate the true machine underneath. -

I'm from Melbourne, Australia...which I'm sure everyone knows. lol My parents were born here...as were my grandparents on both sides. So I am about as Australian as you can get. lol Beyond my grandparents...most of my family comes from Europe. Most of my ancestors come from Wales, Ireland and Germany. Although I have a few ancestors who come from Japan -- but as far as I remember...they married into the family. My uncle's mother was Japanese...but she died a long time ago. So yeah. How interesting, huh? lol
Originally posted by ShadowGohan Why was it out for a limited time? Wasn't it very good or something?
No I mean...limited release in terms of limited numbers. Like Paper Mario -- Nintendo Australia didn't ship it, instead, they got another distributor to do it for them. They only released something like 2000 copies here...and I had preordered a month in advance, so luckily, I got a copy on launch. Although I don't know why Nintendo Australia made a limited release, games with Mario in them always sell exceptionally well here in Australia (as they do everywhere).
Originally posted by Nothing674 Hey, does anyone else kinda think Otakuboards has gotten too big? I mean it's great to have a lot of people post, but now we have so many people that all the topics are eaten up in 2 days or so. It just kinda loses that whole "community" concept of a message board.... Just wonderin if anyone else kinda felt that way too.....
Topics only usually get eaten up if they aren't very good topics -- so in some ways, having more members is a good thing in that respect. You forget the fact that OtakuBoards.com Version 2.0 had more members than Version 3.0 does now. At that time, we had around 3900 members. Now, we have just over 1200 members, last time I looked. So there is plenty of room for growth. I hope that we are at over 5000 members within the next year. ;)
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve yeah I know.... I'm not exactly fond of that aspect in our goverment and foriegn affairs department... I think, persoanlly, we should take a Switzerland approach to everything.... stay the hell away for it.... I mean seriously.... who hate Switzerland? No one.... because they stayed out of everything..... even if they were in the dead middle of it (WWI and WWII)... which I must say, sets an example, and a damn good one too. They are a role model country to me.
Nope, Switzerland is NOT the model country. While I agree with much of what they do, staying neutral is an utter joke. I mean, for the most part...for small specific things you can be neutral. But America has already "put its foot in" so to speak. If it were to become neutral now...well...it'd be even more disliked and would probably suffer greater terrorism threat. Switzerland has no business being neutral on the issue of terrorism. As far as I'm concerned, being neutral means that you support terrorists. It is insane, in my opinion, for any country to be neutral in the face of something which threatens the entire planet.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Americans are always the defencive ones in war... HOWEVER we wouldn't be defending anything if we wouldn't be agressive in other people's business. The only reason Osama hates Americans is because we put our troops on holy land.... in a conflict that was none of our business. We, Americans, always do something some other country or group doesn't like.... except in WWI and WWII... well yeah... we did do something the Germans didn't like in WWII, we sent supplies to Britian after claiming we were "neutral".... I don't recal anything we did other countries didn't like during WWI though....
Well, the thing is, America is often accused of being a fairweather friend. On the one hand, America likes to be involved in world politics and take a leadership role. But in many cases, when there are problems/conflicts, America isn't interested. So really, I think the biggest beef people have with America is that it often gets deeply involved in their affairs, and then never stays around to pick up the pieces. I think that America needs to change its stance there a little (despite what officials tell you, one of the main reasons America defended Kuwait in the Gulf War was to protect its own Middle Eastern oil interests). So there does have to be a change in policy. But I do think that America, as a world leader, kind of has that obligation to help smaller countries and to get involved. I mean really, you have to be one or the other. You either lead and then take responsibility for that leadership...or you don't do either.
Originally posted by BabyGirl How is that paranoid? It is just plain sick, like how the Nazi doctors used concentration camp prisoners to test medical stuff on... But I guess there are things to remember. It was a time of war, and during war...sometimes the rules don't count. The US were the ones that put Japanese in holding camps for the remainder of the war, and had the Allies lost, the US probably would have gotten in a lot of trouble for it. But the truth of it was, we won. Think about this, "It's war, Ana. In the end, only one side wins. The other side, while doing something repeatedly throughout the conflict gets hunted down by those looking to claim a prize, and is punished for the acts in which they tried to make their statement with in the first place..." It all makes sense if you read it carefully...
It's true that in times of war, people do things that they would not normally do. But there are two things here. One is that both sides had POW camps. That's true. But the Japanese were incredibly satanic -- they were involved in all kinds of weird torture. Whereas the Americans weren't. Also, the Japanese were the aggressors in WWII, not the Americans. I mean...you guys think that Pearl Harbour was so big. But imagine the WTC attacks multiplied by three. That's what happened to Australia during WWII. Japan bombed Darwin (northern most city) and they sent submarines into Sydney Harbour and started attacking it... Luckily we, along with New Zealand and New Guinea were able to buffer them and stop them from advancing further. But America was purely a defensive force in WWII...they weren't the "attackers". So I guess that's where I draw the distinction.
