1.
Originally posted by Hugh_G._Rection Why would this be spam? Anyway, about the name, someone said holy §hit earlier, why arent you guys saying thats innapropriate? There's a lot worse stuff on the internet that a parent could see a kid at...
We've had some discussion as to whether or not your name is appropriate. We'll let it stand for now, but remember that we receive a lot of complaints (more than you'd think) about certain issues which even I personally feel are very small ones. And as you correctly pointed out, swearing of ANY kind is inappropriate, even if people use symbols. The only problem is that it's very prevalent...and a lot of people do it. Perhaps we'll have to be a little bit more forthcoming on that point...and warn people about it individually.
  2. Anyone is allowed to have friend lists. Moderators are just the same as everyone else...it's just that they are responsible for looking after their own specific forums. So yeah...friend lists are standard for every member.
  3.
Originally posted by BabyGirl Haha, proportions...I'm sooo bad at thos....proportions and shading...I have no concept of those what so ever :p And thank you everyone for your comments! These are the things I was looking for, because so many of you are such good artists :D I won't ever reach a lot of your levels, but I can try :)
Well, I remember a friend of mine who started drawing anime style pictures in the first few weeks of my Visual Communication & Design classes at school last year... And at first, he was terrible. His pictures were really bad. But he kept practicing...and soon he was shading with colours...and using digital effects on computer to improve his images. He didn't have a lot of natural ability, but he just kept trying... Your first pic is miles better than his was lol. So all you need to do is keep trying. :) By the way, I love your avatar. lol. When I look at that now, I always imagine you looking like that. lol
  4. Adam owns Otaku Media and all of its contents. I'm his partner on Otaku Media -- I tend to emphasize my work on OtakuBoards, while he tends to be more involved with theOtaku.com Hope that helped.
  5. A very good first effort, BabyGirl. All you really need to do is improve your proportions a little, and add some shading to give a smoother effect. Despite what everyone says, the shading doesn't need to be in colour. Infact, black and white shading, done softly, can look even better! :) A great effort. Keep up the good work. :)
  6.
Originally posted by sia they will be CD's and they will go in this big box thing with a big X on it and it will have better graphics than playstation 1,PSX ,& PS2. But a close competitor is GCN. so i donno which will be better,so im gettin both :D
The Xbox uses DVD. Also, the quality of a game is truly measured by its gameplay, not its graphics. All the graphics on the next generation game systems are pretty comparable...so it really comes down to which has the most fun games.

  9.
Originally posted by Matt.D I was very little at the time, but yeah, I think I remember....Ididn't understand the storyline though....I was only 4....
Yep, I was in the last year of primary school (elementary school) when the series aired on TV over here. I remember parts of it very well though...
  10.
Originally posted by Ice Dragon v2 who does want to die like that
Exactly. Makes you wonder why the hell people smoke.
  11.
Originally posted by Single H I'm so d@mn stupid! Trusting that guy the other day. It's stupid man!!! Thanks for telling me.
Yep. You don't wanna end up with lung cancer...or throat cancer...or any of the other major problems you could end up with. People who smoke a lot end up dying very slowly and painfully...and I'd hate to be like that.
  12.
Originally posted by Flik And i dont like it. Too old to compare with the new cartoon drawing ways
The story was awesome though...much better than the stuff these days. And have you looked at big, high-res images of the mechs? Beautiful stuff.
  13.
Originally posted by Single H I don't do drugs but, I smoke. Started last week. Still coughing though.
Smoking IS a drug, my friend. :)
  14. I just have a general anime question for everyone here... ...is anyone old enough to remember the 1992 anime, titled "Teknoman"? It was an anime that featured mech-style suits, and had a look very similar to Zone of the Enders on PlayStation 2. I've been looking up information on it lately...and fond memories of this great anime have come flooding back. I'm just wondering if anyone remembers it. I loved it...I saw the first episode all the way to the last. And I've never even watched an anime since then...the new stuff doesn't hold a candle to it. :)
  15. Sexuality is a lot like skin colour. It's not something you "overcome" as if it's a disease. I find that while it is probably a good idea to study sexuality, and find out what makes us tick, I think that defining sexuality by any quantitative means is impossible. To define sexuality in a quantitative capacity is essentially the same as defining love in that same way. It can't be done. Why? Because we don't define love as something scientific...it is probably the single most mysterious human emotion. We don't even truly understand emotion itself, even in its most basic forms. You will find that most anti-gay sentiment comes directly from religious teachings, which themselves are outdated and do not adequately reflect both the changing nature of society and the fundamental issues of sexuality: rather, religious teachings tend to look at the issue in a very two dimensional viewpoint. Having said this, I feel that sexuality and discrminiation based on sexuality is very much the same as racism. There are simply no fundamental reasons why one should discriminate against someone else based on their skin colour -- despite the fact that the KKK will tell you that they only do so because they somehow receive that message from God. The same is true here. In all logical terms, there is simply no reason to separate humans based on sexuality in any way. We can cite religion as our reason for discrimination, however, religion (regardless of what it actually says) is merely an excuse to harbour a sense of hatred; the same sense of hatred that appears with racism. Ultimately, we have to say that all men are created equal. And that love is not a quantitative matter -- I wouldn't want someone to make a judgement on me because I am in love with a woman or a man. It defies all logic. And in my opinion, what we should really worry about in society are those people committing crimes...and doing awful things. A lot of people who are either homosexual or heterosexual abide by the law...and lead decent moral lives, with no desire to behave in a bad way. Therefore, these people are not hurting us directly...and as such, I think we should focus more on the real problems in society, rather than letting ourselves become sidetracked by a highly trivial "issue".
  16.
Originally posted by Single H How many people actually using plain, understandable english? I did spot some incorrect spelling. So tell me, how many is there?
Yeah...some posts can be tough to understand at times...the english can come out very mangled. I always try to be as coherant as possible. :)
  17. The only serious problem I've encountered is that sometimes the PS2 will skip a little on a movie...or have problems with some movie discs. But that in itself is fairly rare. If you want a DVD player, you don't buy a PS2 -- you buy a DVD player. The DVD movie function is just a nice add-on for those who bought a video game console.
  18.
Originally posted by Sephiroth no, I never said either of us were superior, not do I think that, we are both stupid, as are all other members of the human race, its just the way everyone is, and no one can help it....
Speak for yourself. lol When I looked at Transtic's "stupid things people do/are" I found that I didn't qualify for any one of them... That doesn't make me some special person...it just means that I don't have that "herd mentality", which you and Transtic don't seem to either.

    ranks

The ranks might seem boring at first, but we have a LOT more than we used to. So even if when you've been here for quite a while, you'll still be discovering new ranks. Some of them are very cool. :)
  20. I have an Indigo GBA. I didn't buy Smokey Black because it hadn't arrived in the stores. Although in future, I might give my Indigo GBA to my little brother, and buy myself a Smokey Black version.
  21. I don't even understand the relevance of the original topic...
  22. Now that song could quite easily make me go insane.
  23.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve No, I'm just not affraid to admit what is the fact. And cloud, we did the same type of cheering when we bombed Japan.... we did the same type of cheering when we bombed Iraq.... we are nothing better....
Yeah but Transtic, those are SO very different. Japan killed millions...Japan used Chinese citizens as "crash dummies" when it came to testing biological weapons... They bombed Darwin and Sydney in Australia..and tried to make us a part of the Japanese Empire... They deserved to be bombed. The innocent people didn't deserve to be killed...but...had the bombing not occurred, Japan would have won. And Iraq also deserved it. The attacks in Iraq were based on military targets. So this situation is totally different.
  24.
Originally posted by Sasami-san Well, yes, that is their belief, but don't get me wrong or anything, I LOVE the Middle East, it's my favorite part of the world, and I believe they have a beautiful religion, people, and all, but I believe what they did was wrong although they believed it was oki, because we do not share the same religion as them, and we do not believe the same things as them, and they know that, so if it's and honor to die, then they should have flewn one of their planes with their people into one of their buildings instead. They knew what they were doing, and they were wanting to just bring our economy down, kill our people, and make us mad, but they didn't care, because in their religion, they are going to heaven.
This incident has nothing to do with religion. It's all about politics.
  25. Okay...everyone take a deep breath lol. I could NOT believe this news when I first heard it. I then visited cube.ign.com and found out for myself... Capcom's Shinji Mikami and Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto have announced a new gaming partnership. Not only will Capcom release Resident Evil 0 on GameCube exclusively, but they are also going to remake...and get this...Resident Evil 1, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 AND Resident Evil: Code Veronica!! ALL exclusive to GameCube! And remember how Resident Evil 4 was coming to PS2? Not anymore. The game is now headed exclusively to Nintendo GameCube. Shinji Mikami said that he didn't want people struggling to choose which console to buy in order to play Resident Evil. So, he said that ALL the new games would appear only on GameCube. Below are a few shots of the remake of Resident Evil 1 for GameCube. It looks so amazing...even better than Silent Hill 2! Feast your eyes on this...and feel GameCube's dominance. :) (by the way, all of the below shots are REAL TIME images) I think it's fair to say, that any of you who now don't want a GameCube are criminally insane. :)
