Originally posted by kuja well i agree... i made it to the first 5 posts then gave up... lol but at work the other day one of the girls said "boy go do... something" i didnt hear what she said... all i heard was the "boy go do" and i am white... but i grew up w/o all those race lines... i mean i would date a black girl or a hispanic/asian anything else if we clicked... i mean a girl is a girl right... she still got that cute butt and a good figure weather she is black white or even purple right? i admit the girl who said this to me was an aussie (no offense people) and i dont think she realized that i take offense to most every racist remark... the only reason i didnt deck her where she stood was my boss was there... if brandon (the only black guy that works when i do) would have been there... i dont think he would be working w/ us anymore... cause he is a cool guy i dont see him (or anyone) as black... but he does have pride in his heritage... and being called a boy is degrading cause of the stupid slave owners back a 150 years ago... well less but still... i take offense to anything from that word to white trash to asian remarks or anything... the only thing i dont take offense to is like... country remarks... like ausse yankee brit thou... some of the ones in TX for spaniards are pretty mean... thou i wont repeat them... but yea that doctor was racist...
Boy go do? Forgive me but...how is that racist? EDIT: Oops, that's what ya get for not reading all the text. lol I understand now why you thought of it as racist...but you have to understand that "decking her" would have been very foolish. The term "boy" isn't at all racist here in Australia. So you have to understand that people from different countries find different comments objectionable...she obviously didn't understand that what she said had just racist connotations in America.
  2.
Originally posted by zanza See, there you go again. "My arguments are good, my points are good, blah blah blah..." You assume you're not egotistical and I'm jealous of you for that? Hahaha, yes, that's being arrogant. Not only that, but the way you state most all of your "good points" comes off as very egotistical to me.
Whoa...hold on a moment. I know that I'm not egotistical. I'm just being straight forward and honest here. You are providing your thoughts...I'm providing mine. It's strange how my comments seem egotistical to you and you only. Especially since nobody else seems to complain about it... I think that perhaps my opinion on this subject rubs you up the wrong way or something...I don't know... The statement you quoted was actually a little sarcasm. :) I'm surprised that you took it so seriously. So calm down and think carefully. You're usually a pretty cheerful person with most of your posts...I think that maybe my comments here struck a chord or something. EDIT: Don't worry about getting into an argument or anything. It takes two to argue -- and I wouldn't argue over something that's not important, as I'm sure you wouldn't either.
  3.
Originally posted by zanza Wow, I don't think any of those qualities of a mature person apply to me.
I would agree. ;) I think that it's a combination. Yes, maturity mostly comes with experience...but sometimes, even when you've had a great deal of experiences at a young age, you aren't mature enough to handle it. I think that maturity has a lot to do with genes...and a lot of biological factors, rather than just a single factor like age or experience. It's a combination of a lot of things.
  4.
Originally posted by Jeff i didn't read it, but kinda take a little glimpse at it. from what i've seen, that poem's writer sounds like he/she has low self-esteem and angry at world..and wants its revenge..
Yeah...those poems are good poems...but they are slightly disturbing lol, especially if the author actually feels that way. But sometimes poetry can be a good way to express feelings without actually acting upon them. In any case, they were pretty well written. :)
  5. Yeah, I've seen Monty Python before. The only movie I've seen was Monty Python and the Holy Grail...which was really funny...especially the part with the flesh eating rabbit. lol

    The future?

Small things can dramatically affect the future... Sometimes, being at the right or wrong place at a certain time will have an effect...or saying something to someone will have a larger effect. Anything can happen. It's important to consider the future, but if you dwell on it too much, you will never enjoy the here and now.
  7.
Originally posted by Flik yea because when it first comes out it will be like 400 bucks and each game will be 70-80 bucks each
Well, that's not really the reason I'm not buying it. I bought a PS2 in April, and a GBA in July. I plan to buy a GameCube in February/March next year and then an Xbox either Christmas next year or early 2003. I'm not going to buy a GameCube and an Xbox at the same time, that's just a waste of cash. :)

    pj's

I just wear little cotton shorts, they're really comfy.
  9. Well, Xbox will probably arrive here in 2002 sometime. I'm not really interested in buying one when it first comes out...perhaps after its first price drop, or when it goes online.
  10.
Originally posted by Flik cool. did u like GW??
Well...it's kind of hard to tell. Since I didn't watch it from the start, it's hard to really know if I like it or not just yet...I'll have to watch a few more episodes before I can decide. The episode I saw was pretty good though.
  11. Yes, you heard it right here, folks. I'm no longer a Gundam Virgin. I watched my very first episode of Gundam Wing today. lol I haven't watched any anime since Teknoman...of which I saw the entire series when it aired in the early 90's. Of course, I had no idea what was going on in this episode of GW...but nevertheless, it's good to be watching a little anime again. :)
  12. The funny thing about GT3 is that, at first, I found it a little frustrating...because the money rewards weren't very high. But once I started earning more cash...and opening up better cups which pay more credits...I found myself getting into the game a lot more than before. It's one of those games that just keeps opening out...especially as you get more and more cars. Although it's so huge in size...it's going to take a long time to beat. :)
  13.
Originally posted by zanza You read it wrong. The reason you're a better debator, in my opinion, is because you DON'T have a big ego. Whereas James does.
I have a big ego? lol...wow...that's news to me (and probably most people who know me as well). Perhaps the fact that my rebuttals are good...and the fact that my points are good makes me appear to have a big ego? *shrug* And also, about being shocked that I said evolution was a fact... I find it amazing to think of it as a "belief" like religion. The two aren't in the same class. Many major points of evolution have been proven -- we know that creatures evolve through time...we know that the earth changes through time...these are the core principals of evolution theory. So yes, it's still called "evolution theory", but we essentially know it to be factual.
  14.
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig How about ideal car settings? I have a Toyota Supra RZ and I'm toying around with the settings right now.
Well, I only just bought the game recently, and I've just acquired my domestic A license. My best car right now is a Subaru Impreza 22B-STi, which has the fourth level Turbo, medium-soft racing tyres, full weight reduction and full racing transmission...among other things (it's pretty much as fully modified as you can get). And it's awesome...it flies like you wouldn't believe. :)
  15.
Originally posted by zanza First paragraph: Duh. I never did. My analogy was only to make it clear that just because you don't believe in hell, doesn't mean you won't end up there. Second paragraph: yes, that is essentially what my second paragraph said right from the start. Argument over.
Yeah, I understand what your analogy was designed to do, I'm just saying that a similar analogy could be used for anything...so it doesn't really make an argument one way or the other. Cera: I agree with you there. It's great to see the majority of people arguing in a mature way, without resorting to name calling or something of that nature.
  16. I personally have nothing against the occasional swear word, as long as it's not too major. But you would be surprised at the amount of complaints I receive from visitors who complain about lots of swearing. So I guess we just have to be responsible to the younger members of the board.
  17.
Originally posted by zanza Work for you? ....how? It can't work for either of us. There is no proof aliens exist and there's no proof God exists. One of us believes in God but not aliens, and the other vice versa. How does that work for you? How can you turn that against me? If you could, then I could do the exact same to you, as you can see that it's an equal balance there. The point all boils down to the fact that different people believe different things. I think aliens are just as unbelievable as God is to you people (people have had sightings of God, too. I don't believe them however, I'm just making a point).
I'm merely stating that you can't use the classic "just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist" argument to give merit to your belief in God. I am only saying that I could use the very same argument to validate a belief in fairies or goblins or unicorns. I'm saying that it works for any scenario you care to think up. Cera: Thanks for your latest reply. I'm glad that you didn't flame me, as I thought that my statement would have been very contentious. Your response proves to me that you can think with an open mind...and that you are really a reasonable person. I haven't spoken to you much on these boards...even though we've both been here for a long time. But in a way, this religion thread has allowed me to notice yet another great member of the boards. :)
  18.
Originally posted by Jeff as long as i don't curse directly at members..right? i mean com'n..even "d a m n" word is censored..
I agree that d a m n shouldn't be censored. But no cursing is allowed...regardless of who you are saying it to or what it's about.
  19.
Originally posted by Tyco Ive noticed that people are getting away with alot on this boards , espically with foul language and disrespect to staff , why arent thies members banned? Have the staff gotten lazy????
I agree that people are swearing too much (even if that includes symbols), and yes, we do warn people who we feel swear too much. However, there are two issues. Firstly, we can't ban people too liberally. If that happens, we'd have no members left! lol. And secondly, we can't be too quick to ban or too strict with people. As long as people are given fair warning...and try to tone their language down, we accept that. People who continually swear often and who refuse to tone down their language will be banned, it's as simple as that.
  20.
Originally posted by leo_swinkels And like this the game will keep growing and growing and growing. I think eventually we will be able to see a more adult link and more real link linke the one on E3. Miyamoto always liked improvement of his games.
I doubt that we'll see a more realistic Link. Miyamoto has expressed his concerns about more realistic games...in the sense that they aren't the kind of direction he wants to take. And have you seen the video of this game? I warmed to the screenshots after a while...but the video totally blew me away -- I only saw it recently. It looks amazing. The animation quality is superb...the fight scenes look brilliant. I can't wait. :)
  21. I think that A Link to the Past was the longest I've ever played. Zelda 2 was pretty long...but the length mainly came from its difficulty. A Link to the Past had three dungeons in the light world (all of which were huge and took quite some time to complete) and then there were 7 dungeons in the dark world. Also, there were a lot of side quests...like getting your sword tempered and such. That was such a fun game...
  22. Eh. I don't like Blink 182 anymore, they're too annoying. lol
  23.
Originally posted by MysticGohan Welcome back yo.. and by the way James.. Your avatar is kick *** man! KICK ***!
You think? Thanks. I made it myself :)
  24.
Originally posted by Shinji v2.0 Rawr...My smiley...Looks like I've gotta change it. 25.
Originally posted by Cera Yeh, my science teacher has a different definition for it, and I gotta learn it or I'm gonna fail. ;) As for the rest, isn't that what I just said? Evolution, Big Bang Theory, Special creation...all beliefs that can't be proven. Ya gotta have a heck of a lot of faith to believe any of them.
I don't necessarily agree with the Big Bang Theory. However, it is the most logical explanation thusfar. And yes, as Transtic correctly points out, the Big Bang is merely a theory based on scientific study and observation. I feel that at least the Big Bang theory is based upon some fact, unlike most religion. In addition, evolution is actually not a theory. We still don't truly know everything about it, however, we know that evolution is a proven fact. I am much more inclined to side with proven facts and knowledge than side with a mere "belief". Oh and as a side note to Cera: I will call creationism rubbish, because that's what it is. It has been disproven many, many times throughout history. Even mainstream religions no longer hold to the belief of creationism. You should definitely read "Telling Lies for God". It actually goes through the history of creationism and why it has been drisproven and subsequently dumped by most large churches.
