1.
Originally posted by DarkerSephiroth So this means that post counts wont be restored? Holly crap this sucks
It's not so bad. As I said, it puts everyone on a level playing field and it allows you to experience every rank. But also, it's almost physically impossible for us to restore the post count of all members.
 2.
Originally posted by Sephiroth you are? well, that would explain a few things....
Yeah, like the fact that I'm the only user with purple text...and my fascination with that purple tellytubby. lol Tellytubby Quote: "Hurt everyone *giggle*" Ahh, gotta love them 'tubbies.
 3.
Originally posted by Pretty Sammy next door neighbor? woah!
Yeahh...and I'm married to Safer. lol
 4.
Originally posted by BabyGirl You're a Queen fan! Er, either that or you have just heard that said before and I'm terribly mistaken... But back on topic! I really need some help
BabyGirl, it depends exactly which host you are uploading your pictures to. I mean, Geocities would be different to Tripod for example. But for the most part, you just sign up...and you'll find a "file manager" button somewhere...and you can click to upload pics. The service then usually tells you what the address of the picture is. But as I said, it is often different with different services. I hope that my slightly incoherant rambling wasn't too hard to understand lol
 5.
Originally posted by Treble Yeah and the part where Sub-Zero frozed Sonya's gun heh I liked that part. And the way the Harpoon came out of Scorpion hands looked tight!
Yeah...*sigh*...it's a shame that MK4 sucked so hard. MK is a good franchise...it still has life left, as long as they do a GOOD game. Let's pray that MK5 is cool :)
 6. Who here saw the Mortal Kombat movie? The second one was total crap...but I didn't mind the first one. Sure, it had no story, but it had a cool soundtrack and very nice effects... my favourite characters in the movie were Sub Zero and Shang Tsung. Remember the bit where Sub Zero freezes that dude at the start? Ahh...it was a golden moment. hehe :)
 7.
Originally posted by Madmax nice pic where dose ign get all its stuff?
IGN would be getting this stuff from Midway's PR department. Here is a second released shot.
 8. Cool pics :) I really can't wait to get this game :D
 9. I still don't have GT3! lol I was supposed to get it today but I didn't have enough time to go and pick it up. So hopefully on Monday. :)
 10. I think that this game seems to have the potential to provide the kind of atmosphere that we saw in System Shock for the PC. That game was very cool. And developed here in Oz too hehe :D
 11. Some of you are getting close while some are way off. I'll show a few hints here and there to keep interest going ;)
Originally posted by Nerdsy I can tell that game's going to suck.... Nothing but blood, guts, and killing. It reminds me of DOOM, except it probably won't be anywhere as good. It's like I thought before, X-box is going to be soo focused on graphics that the games are going to suck, probably. Plus those graphic's in that shot don't look all that impressive...
How can you tell it'll suck? You haven't even seen it in motion yet. I sense a strong level of bias here. The visuals in that shot are looking very nice...at least as nice as Silent Hill 2 (although probably with less atmosphere). I don't see how you can sit in judgement of a game before even seeing it moving or trying it for yourself.
 13.
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig The problem with placing mass amounts of space in the cartrige is that...there's a strange load time to it (mainly concentrating on RE2). Legend of Zelda: OOT proves that CG cutscenes aren't really neccesary to make a good game. In-game ones will do just as fine.
I agree with you. CG cutscenes can be nice (FF for example), but they aren't tottally necessary for a good game. Just look at Zelda, Metal Gear Solid and others...these games had cool stories and great gameplay without requiring CG scenes.
Originally posted by BabyGirl Oh my, you are so very right...
Yeah, if you really think about it...there are probably only a handful of movies that don't go along with those stereotypes lol
 15.
Originally posted by firemac Is that why I always find N64 games so short, I usually beat the games with ease and usually beat them on rent
Cartridges don't really have much to do with the physical length of a game. A game's length can be determined by any number of things, whether it be the fact that the game is just plain long...and takes ages to watch/play, whether it's very difficult or whether there are lots of bonus objectives/side quests. It depends what game you're playing. I mean, Super Mario 64 is a relatively short game, whereas Resident Evil 2 on N64 is quite a long one. In the early days of the N64's life, cartridges did place a large barrier when it comes to CG movies and such. But Capcom proved that cartridges are a viable entertainment media beyond any doubt with their faithful conversion of Resident Evil 2. So it really depends on your perception. The biggest problem with carts was their high cost.
Originally posted by BabyGirl I agree with the nasal thing...I just luuuv your accents over there, though. Another one of my favorites is the Spanish accent...from people in Spain, not just anyone who speaks Spanish, that is. I think any country you go to is going to have different accents depending on where they're from. Dialect comes into play, and different regions (like in France) have different accents as well. I think maybe it's China that has over 100 dialects of something like that? I don't quite remember. It's much like our Southern accents, mid-western (non) accents, New England tone or whatever. Accents are fun! The only thing I hate is when people over exagerate the French accent...it makes me cringe .
Yeah, that's definitely true. When people overdo any kind of accent it can be annoying...and the stereotypes can occasionally be annoying too. You notice how in movies, 99% of the time someone with a southern American accent is a redneck, or someone with an english accent is an evil mastermind...or someone with an Aussie accent is either some dude who lives in the forest or some sleazy theif. lol
Originally posted by BabyGirl Don't worry, no hard feelings, I was merely joking :D. But about the whole accent thing, I was told by an Australian that to sound like an American, you just plug your nose and talk...do we really sound that obnoxious?
Well, I always thought that our accent sounded very nasal and unpleasant... You know the main bad buy on the Matrix? The agent who kinda leads all the others? Well he is an Aussie actor, and I can do the kind of accent that he was doing...that kinda American cop voice lol. But there is such a huge variety with American accents...the variety with our accents is much smaller. But sometimes you can tell when someone is from Adelaide or Melbourne or Sydney by what they say...or what words they use. It's interesting :)
Originally posted by BabyGirl I don't know if that's an insult or a compliment...but oh well because I know I have a bee-utiful Aussie accent, and that is the final truth :D (even the native Australians told me that I sound quite authentic;))
Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was being insulting lol, I didn't know how to respond so I said "Yeah, probably". *shrug* :D If you can do a good Aussie accent...then you're probably the only person in America who can. But I see that as a good thing. It means you're probably better than most American actors. ;)
Originally posted by BabyGirl Accent? I don't have one. Typical Mid-Western American girl :D Though, I can speak with many accents...and I am most proud of my Australian one ;)
Australian one eh? I bet it sounds like the crocodile hunter lol. My g/f is American and whenever she tries to do an Aussie accent it makes me giggle. lol I've never met an American who could do a real Aussie accent. ;)
 21. Yeah, Microsoft's hype machine is really starting to build up. Although I think it'll be at least another two or three months before Microsoft starts advertising Xbox in Australia. Since I have no idea when we'll get it...I don't know if we'll be getting it before Japan or after them. If we have to wait for Japan, we could end up with the Xbox by June 2002 lol. I think they should launch it here first, since Xbox is bound to do better in Australia than Japan. And Aussies tend to pay exhorbitant amounts of money for anything that's considered "new technology". Even PS2 has been doing extremely well here, despite its high price. People here will pay anything for the latest technology.:)
 22. I think that everyone starting on a level playing field isn't such a bad idea...and as you've seen, many people's post counts are now nearing 200 or more. So I don't think it would take long to achieve higher ranks. And also, it's extremely difficult to restore everyone's post count...going through the entire database and restoring count after count could take us forever. I personally think that we're better off just leaving things as they are.
 23. Midway have finally released a shot of Mortal Kombat 5, to be available on all major next-gen consoles. The team has said that they want to "totally reinvent the genre". I personally loved the older MK games, but I didn't like MK4. So I really hope that MK5 proves to be a different experience. In any case, I've included a shot below for you to feast your eyes on. Nice, huh? :)

 25. I'll post an attatchment of the file here, just incase you can't view it above.
