1. The movie was fun in a group atmosphere, but otherwise it probably would've been kind of dull. It's already been said - the movie's mostly just death after death after death, each in a new and "exciting" way. This formula's OK if you're playing Unreal Tournament 2004, but in a movie it just gets old. I actually saw this movie in the original Japanese, without subtitles, so I didn't catch everything. But with Battle Royale, just how important is the dialogue anyway? But, since I was with a group of people, the movie did prove a fun watch. Scenes like the one where the girl stabbed the guy right in the groin got a jump out of all of us. Perhaps the most interesting thing is that I watched the movie "Kikujirou no natsu" awhile after this, another movie starring Beat Takeshi, but in a very different role, heh.
 2. The first thing I thought of when I saw the title was the scene in Dumb & Dumber when they're sitting in bed, wiping their tears/snot with dollar bills as they watch some phone company commercial. Hilarious.
 3.
Yep, sex does sell...and it's primarily directed at straight males.
Or lesbians... or wait, they aren't as vile and disgusting as straight males, so easily controlled by sex. In which case all I should have to say is this: "Lumber, we need lumber." Anybody who's anybody understands. At any rate, I hate nearly all commercials with a seething passion. What counts for me is not sex, but humor. If a commercial can make me laugh, I will support the company just for that. Have you seen the Washington Mutual commercial with the guy who trusts everything? He walks into his house, and there's a guy with a black mask over his face (clearly a thief) walking around the guy's VCR. The guy asks, "What are you doing?", and the thief hesitates, then says, "Uh, factory recall." He responds, "Oh! Don't let me stand in your way." I couldn't believe it was an actually funny commercial. I'm heading to Washington Mutual right now.
 4.
*twitch* ACTUAL GUITAR PICKS USED BY THEM????!!!!!!!! *swoon* You my friend are that coolest! X Japan is SOOOOO Great!!!!!!!! *bounces*Anything from Siam Shade? :D :D :D :D
No, they haven't actually been used by the band. You can get these things by the handful from guitar shops in Japan.
 5. Well, I recently stubbed my toe on the door frame this morning when I woke up to take a shower, and I was about to kill myself right then and there, but I figured I should have some breakfast first, and by that time I had forgotten all about it, and so I went on with my day as usual after that.
 6. TV doesn't teach you anything about sex. I finally learned in 6th grade what was required of me in order to procreate. Before then, I was sort of mystified as to how babies came about. I knew it was from sex - but before then I just thought sex was taking off your clothes and lots of rubbing and kissing. Didn't realize it was anything else, because after all, they never show more than that on TV.
 7. Even L'Arc~en~Ciel fans are divided on "hitomi no juunin". Personally, I obviously really, really like it... but I know lots of people who are just like you and find the song boring, even fans of the band. So it probably wasn't the best song for you to try out if you're trying to get away from that "elevator music" type... because I think that's probably what a lot of people think of "hitomi no juunin". As for the lyrics, I've translated them: click here. If you ever wanted to try any of these other songs, I'd recommend "READY STEADY GO" I think. Rapid fire percussion on that one... though I dunno. I'm really bad at recommendations, I never know who will like what. Oddly though, I think you're the only person who doesn't like the vocalist. I thought his singing in "hitomi no juunin" was superb, some of his best ever, and I've never really heard otherwise... oh well. As a side note, I wrote a review of the album for my website today. If you'd like to read it, it's on my website LOVE STATION. Just click on "CD Reviews" on the right, you'll find the link in there.
 8. Well, my favorite band, L'Arc~en~Ciel, just released a new album, SMILE, last Wednesday and it finally arrived at my house today. It's their first album in over 3 and a half years, so this is really significant for me. It's been a long wait. Anyway, I'd figure I'd share some of my favorite songs off of it. They're all encoded at a nice 160kbps... so you aren't going to get much better sound quality. Here's a tracklisting. The links lead to the corresponding MP3s: EDIT: LINKS HAVE SINCE BEEN REMOVED. My personal favorite is track 09. Overall... if any other band had made this album, they'd be amazing. But I think this band has had much better albums and this one feels a little subpar in their line-up. But enough of what I think... try these songs out, and tell me what you think of them.
 9. Apparently Nagatani from SURFACE plays guitar on BoA's "Rock With You". I've never heard the song, because I don't care for BoA one bit, but he's an awesome guitarist. Anyhow, SMILE has not come for me yet. That's the last time I ever use the post office for shipping, because this wait is killing me.
 10.
Utada Hikaru and BoA[/b'] have got to be the best! I love the theme song for Kingdom Hearts in which Utada Hikaru sings, and BoA does a great job singing for some of the songs on Inu Yasha!
Best? Best what?
 11. I don't know if this counts as a quote... instead it's a drawn out piece of dialogue from the funniest movie ever, Three Amigos! El Guapo: Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas? Jefe: Oh, si, you have a plethora. El Guapo: Jefe, what does plethora mean? Jefe: Why, El Guapo? El Guapo: I would not like to think that someone would tell me I have a plethora of something, and then find out that that person does not know what it means to have a plethora. Jefe: Forgive me, you know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that, once again, you are mad at something else, and look to take it out on me? El Guapo: Eh. Jefe: Could it be, because today you turn 40? El Guapo: Naaaah. Jefe: Could it be, because Carmen chooses to sleep in her cell, rather than with you? El Guapo: ... Jefe: Why don't you just take her? You want cattle, you take the cattle. You want food, you just take the food! You want a woman, you just take the woman. El Guapo: Jefe, you do not understand women. You cannot force open the pedals of a flower. But when the time is right, the flower will open itself to you. Jefe: When do you think Carmen will "open her flower" to you? El Guapo: Tonight.... or I will KILL her! Yes, I live by these words. There are many more, of course: Ned: I think it's a mail plane. Dusty: How can you tell? Ned: Didn't you see the little balls? OR OR OR: El Guapo: And... you! Dusty: Jose! Crowd: Jose!! El Guapo: Together we...! Dusty: Burned the village! Crowd: Yay! El Guapo: And we...! Dusty: Rode out on the women! Crowd: Yay! El Guapo: And we...! Dusty: Raped the horses! Crowd: Yay! El Guapo: And we... Dusty: Plundered! El Guapo: Plundered, and... Dusty: Pruned! El Guapo: Pruned, the eeh.. Dusty: Hedges! El Guapo: Hedges of... Dusty: of many small villages! El Guapo: Of many small villages.... WHO THE HELL ARE YOU? Jefe, putting a gun to Dusty's head: He's one of the damn Amigos! El Guapo: What is going on here?! Are gringos falling from the sky?! Ned falls to the ground from his position above. Jefe: Yes, El Guapo.
 12.
Sometimes I hated myself for not being a Britney or another "beautiful" person.
Britney has a really big neck. If you catch her at the wrong angle, she looks like a Brontosaurus.
 13.
Anyway, I know it's kinda silly but I just need some help to translate this cd-album I found over the net.
Just to be clear: you want the TRANSLATION of the artist/title/anime and not the romaji title? Seems kind of odd to want a translation for id3 tags... but whatever. I'll get on it sooner or later.
 14.
If I see a six foot tanned blonde haired blue eyed guy who's absolutely gorgeous, I'd think so on first sight.
Hey, there you go. You CAN answer the question. All it's asking is what you find attractive in someone else at first sight, not what you find attractive for a spouse.
 15.
Can anyone who is bilingual and understand Japanese, use this service and tell me how accurate it is for simple lines of text?? :)
It's way off most of the time. I'm not "bilingual", but I know enough to know that it usually isn't very accurate. It's much too literal and for a language like Japanese, it just can't get the correct meaning out. I could help you out possibly, I translate stuff from time to time.
 16.
I'll only say that's the most ironic comment you could possibly make in a thread about Jesus. It's very funny!
Not really. In an atheist view, Jesus was just another person, was he not? So therefore he wouldn't be born religious either. In a Christian view however I think it's pretty obvious that Jesus would be an exception. My statement wasn't made in jest. Anyhow, to go back to what I said, Mel Gibson has not always led a religious life, clearly. I don't see what your point is. So, because he starred in Braveheart, it therefore wipes out all ability for him to become religious?
 17.
This is a film crafted by a man whose film ventures are far from holy. Review Gibson's film history and you'll see why I find it laughable that religious fanatics are looking at him, all of a sudden, as a reliable source of biblical integrity.
Nobody is born religious.
 18. I went into the bathroom the other day, and there was a HUGE spider on the wall. I'm talking damn near the size of my palm, which is pretty big. I didn't think spiders that big lived around here. Anyway, it scared the living **** out of me.
 19. If it's getting too hard, quit. Don't waste time on such trivial things.
 20.
Well it all depends on what beauty you refer to. There is a sexual, lustful beauty and then there is a genuine aesthetic beauty.
Thankfully there is someone who embodies both types: Normally I'd end my post with that... but for this one, I'll add my useless input. The most important physical attribute of a woman is hair, and I do mean on her head (just to be clear). I don't like curly hair of any type, it simply never works. Straight hair is the way to go. And yes, I realize girls change their hairstyle often, and so yes, I can be unattracted to a girl one day, and then she'll change just her hair and I'll be attracted to her the next. Anyway, other than that I'm not really picky considering I'm not looking to date anyone and don't think I'll be getting laid anytime soon.
 21.
I do have a question. The LDS kids had seminary off campus, but got credit towards graduation. No other religion has a course like that. You can't go off campus to study any other religion for credits. I thought was unusual was how the LDS kids got credits for their studies? This was a regular class that they went too. If someone can explain this to me I would appreciate it. Why do they get their religious class and no other religion does? I always wondered about that.
Oh the injustice of it all!!! Some people get credit for studying Spanish. Some people study some obscure African language in their own time and get no credit because it's not offered by the school. How's that work for ya? Basically: schools can't offer a class on everything.
 22.
In many public schools in my area children gather around a flag pole in teh morning before school to pray. ...But, what if along with Christian students being aloud to pray in school, Pagan students were aloud time for meditaion and so on.
I've seen people occasionally do this at my school too (gathering around the flag and praying). They do it in the morning before school begins. This gathering is of course optional, and is not endorsed by the school or anything. Students simply partake in it. The "time" in which they do it is normal time between when the school opens and when school begins. When school begins they go to class. If I'm reading your statement right... you're saying that time should be made for Pagan students to meditate, right? Why can't they use that morning time too? I'm a little confused at what you're trying to say needs to be done here. Unless your whole "gather at the flagpole" thing varies considerably from mine anyway.
 23. Look, it's like this. This isn't about black and white; this is about the fact that everyone and their dog is an asshole. Everyone. You bet there are white people that hate black people, and there are black people that hate white people. There are non-religious people that hate religious people and religious people that hate non-religious people. There are gay people who hate straight people and straight people who hate gay people. There are attractive people who hate ugly people and ugly people who hate attractive people. We're all ********, and don't for a minute think I exclude myself from that group. So let's stop playing the victim game. Everyone's justified in their hatred because everyone's an asshole, and as an asshole you can hate whatever you want.
 24. Alright. I picked 3, though I don't know how definitive this list is. In no order: Predator - I've already explained how badass this is in another post. Three Amigos! - All I have to do is say the three cast member: Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase. All in one movie. Christmas Vacation - OK, #3 was pretty hard to pick. There are a lot of movies to choose from... but I picked this just because it's so classic. I watch it every Christmas. Other runner-ups... Jurassic Park, the Naked Gun (I can't remember which was which at the moment, but I'm sure they're all funny), MST3K: The Movie, Jaws, Star Wars (the third one), Forrest Gump, Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber... they're all really good.
 25.
Sorry, I don't know the group he was leading...
Oh man, that just hurts. Seriously. My post was mainly in jest, as hyde doesn't lead any bands. He's the vocalist of the group L'Arc~en~Ciel though, who have been around for over a decade and are one of the most successful rock groups. The band is actually led by bassist tetsu, but I get the idea that most "fans" these days think hyde is the leader or something. I can't tell anymore. All I know is that hyde is getting way too damn much exposure. I think it's pretty obvious that tetsu and ken had better solo ventures than hyde anyway. Anyhow, my point know is that L'Arc~en~Ciel is infinitely better than hyde solo (or any of the other members for that matter). He actually sings in the band, too, rather than just yelling. They'll be releasing their 9th album "SMILE" at the end of this month, after three years of inactivity as a band. And rata, it's X JAPAN.
