1. You're all forgetting the most badass movie ever, which just so happened to be released in the '80s: Predator. My siblings would torture me by making me watch this movie when I was a kid, and needless to say it kept me up many nights in those days. But this movie hasn't become outdated in anyway. Movies like this just don't get old, because it has everything: -Explosions -Aliens -Exploding aliens Pure genius. Who'd have ever thought that two of the cast members would go on to become governers?
 2. Well, the first song that comes to mind is "White Feathers" by L'Arc~en~Ciel. Nearly all of the songs on the Tierra album are quite beautiful, but this one shines as perhaps one of their most perfect works. Every second of the song seems as though it's been thoughtfully revised to create just the perfect feeling for the entirety. I could name plenty more, but this is the most significant. Give it a listen sometime.
 3.
Anyone bought HYDE's 666? It's quite nice. Like the song HELLO. The song Shining Over You[/b'], isn't that bad too...
I haven't heard it but haven't liked any of his singles yet, don't think the album's going to change my mind. Say, what's the band he leads? Aren't they doing something? It's not as important as his solo work of course.
 4. Well, since pretty much everything pisses me off, I'll go the easier route and list things that don't: - Sleeping - L'Arc~en~Ciel - Eating pizza (and anything else that can effectively shorten my lifespan) - Sleeping more - My bed - Subway - Hibernating through the crummy winters around here So there you go.
 5. Hm, well, I guess you need to understand where I'm coming from. Because to me, this band looks awesome: I don't think everyone would agree heh. But they kick *** as far as I'm concerned. But you're absolutely right - even if they looked like crap, their music is why I buy all their stuff at unreasonable prices. Eh, I'm dragging this topic off course... sorry about that.
 6.
It's hard to explain but God seemed to show himself alot more in the 'ancient' times. The question that riddled me was....Why did he stop?
God shows himself to everyone. It's whether or not they choose to see him.
 7.
I'm a huge fan of bands that look like regular everyday people and don't try too hard to make a statement with their image. Jeans and T-Shirts with a variety of other cool yet casual items would make their image up as well as anything from scruffy hair to being clean cut, as long as they wouldn't really stand out in a crowd when not playing.
Heh, I'm the EXACT opposite. I don't know if I'd actual do it if I were in a band myself, but I love it when bands are really flamboyant in their dress. It makes them more interesting, or something.
 8. Maybe we should call it "Build a Band Workshop". Yuck, I just shuddered. Anyway, I'm not going to follow format as I don't have anything so specific in mind. When I think of a band I'd like... it's hard to come up with something that isn't trying to be a band I listen to. You know? I draw too much influence from others when I think of these type of things. So I'll be somewhat vague. The most important thing for me in a band is versatility... I don't think I listen to a single band who has sounded the same all throughout their career. They always end up sounding totally different than when they started. I love that. I don't want to pidgeonhole myself, even in a broad category like "rock". There's lots of other genres out there and I see no reason to not try what can be done with them, and, on top of that, see where I can go that no one else has. Another aspect I love in a band is when they can create very solid albums. You know, when it becomes more than just a collection of songs. I love a unity in sounds, words, and feelings throughout an album. This is usually what sets good albums apart from great albums. Even though this somewhat goes against what I said above, about always trying new things, for an album release I like there to be a somewhat consistent sound. An album can really become like a small world when you keep this in mind. There aren't a lot of specifics I have in mind. High singer, low singer... I have great examples of both who can really do a variety of things with their voice, so I don't think it matters as long as they're good at what they do. The same goes for the other instruments. But like I said earlier, it's not just guitars-bass-drums. If I wanted to try some electronica or something, I think it'd be great to have a band that could adjust to that sort of thing. I think, at first, I'd like to have a sort of "dark rock" sound for the band. I'm thinking "kagerou" era Laputa, indies period LUNA SEA here. For Western comparisons... hmmm... the only band that comes to mind is The Cure, but a little heavier and more rockish in general. This style sounds maybe a little repetitive, but it sounds so good to me that I don't mind. The combinations of instruments in this style really works for me... but no more than an album or so of this.
 9. I remember at some point, I think second grade, my plan was to become an astronaut. I drew a picture of me flying in a rocket ship (precariously close to the sun). Sometime after that my goal was to be a basketball player. That didn't pan out as I quit playing the game when I entered middle school, because I didn't feel good enough. I've recently taken it back up as a hobby however. I'm sure I probably had some other ideas as a kid, but those are the two I remember most. I'm sure there was a time when I wanted to be an archaeologist because I was massively into dinosaurs as a child. But I "grew out of that" as well. Now I aspire to become your mooching brother-in-law.
 10.
You just like to get in arguements don't you?
Why bother asking when you can just assume it? My point has been made. I'm done here. Oh, and might I add, had you left this post overnight I still don't think you'd have a huge debate over your post by the time you returned. Even if you did, it would more than likely be a bunch of nonsense by people who take offense at everything religious. That doesn't count.
 11.
and yes everyone is included in those three people, thank you captain sarcasm for your interjection to point out useless grammatical errors that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.
It was entirely relevant. And just to be nice, I'll point out that it has nothing to do with grammar anyway. Only two people have defended their opinions; Altron and Mikkado. Queen Asuka is not defending herself but instead pointing out the flaw in your logic, not exactly in her defense. Anyway, the point of my earlier post is to show just how inflated of a view you seem to have of yourself in this thread. Two people defend their opinions (therefore obviously creating MASS CONTROVERSY!!!!) and you automatically point out to us "ah ha! I was right! EVERYONE IS DEFENDING THEIR OPINIONS!! I'M A GENIUS!!". Even if you didn't outright say those things, you didn't really have to. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't realize how you sound when you post.
 12.
Its funny that everyone did exactly as I suspected, defend their belief without truly reading what I said.
'Everyone' being two people apparently.
 13.
You on the other hand don't have reason to assume things about me.
Interesting, considering you just made a post that not only called every religious person close-minded, but also said they're all blindly following their chosen faith. What makes YOU any more enlightened than any of us? Besides, it's not controversy in the first place. Anyone who is religious has undoubtedly heard much worse things said about them.
 14.
Oh creating controversy, I love it.
OMG, the controversy!!!1 Don't overestimate yourself.
 15. Oh, if you're going to be in Tokyo on a Sunday, you MUST go to Harajuku. If you go, you'll understand why heh.
 16. Oodaiba is probably a pretty interesting place to go. I had the opportunity to go when I was in Japan last Spring, but unfortunately didn't take it. Here's a quick, informational resource on Oodaiba: http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/RTG/RI/kanto/tokyo/odaiba/odaiba.html Other than that I don't remember a lot of 'tourist attractions' I went to in Tokyo, though a lot of people wanted to go to Disneyland (why? there's one here too...). Personally, I found just walking around to be pretty fun. Just visiting shops of interest can be really fun. The greatest aspect of this is that you're such a novelty to the Japanese people - maybe not so much in Tokyo (I spent most of my time in the smaller city of Wakayama), but I had lots of people come up to me with broken English. It's pretty fun, especially if you do know some Japanese. Speaking of which, Japan is especially fun if you DO know some Japanese, mainly just when buying things.
 17.
Are you implying that Kyo from Dir en Grey is suicidal?
He's just saying they work too hard.
 18. I'm a Christian. I currently go to a Nazarene Church, but I don't really consider myself a part of any denomination. For one, I can't tell what the difference between most of them is. Secondly, from what I can tell, most of their differences are small and technicalities, mostly. I don't think I've reserved a spot in hell because I think the Sabbath is Sunday, and some other denomination thinks it's Tuesday. Jesus has made it clear that there isn't a whole mess of things you need to do. "Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharicees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments." - Matthew 22:34-40 (probably in Mark somewhere too). Anyway, to me that really sums up Christianity. I believe, if you do these things, the rest falls into place. The rest of the Bible is important too, however. There are other rules to follow (like the other nine commandments heh), but as a human, you will fail sometimes... that's why Jesus died for our sins.
So, a question for religious people: why are you so...well, why do you believe in whatever you believe in?
Because I know this to be true. I didn't "pick" Christianity because it was the most "comfortable" or something, which is how many of you seem to be putting it. There are many times I have a great temptation to sin in some way (and many times that I give into sin as well) and you know, it'd be great if it weren't a sin so I could indulge all the time. Sure, I could find some other religion where it's OK to do the act, but then I'd be denying what I know is truth. "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
 19.
Show Girls was an NC-17 ... rated movie which did fairly well.
And why do you suppose that is? :P
 20.
Pontius Pilate DIDNT want to kill Jesus... Not as much as I hear the Passion portrays.
Actually, the movie makes this quite clear. The first time, Pilate refuses to even punish Jesus in anyway. He says to plead their case to King Herod, who also does nothing to Jesus. So they come back to Pilate, who once again is very reluctant to do anything to Jesus. Eventually, because he wants to keep his own life, he does agree to have Jesus beaten. Then there's the excrutiatingly long scene in which Jesus is nearly whipped to death. Finally, Pilate tells the crowd that Jesus has been beaten plenty. He thinks surely this will appease them, but they're still yelling for crucifixion. He asks if they'd rather release Jesus or a murderer named Barrabas, and the crowd still pushes for Jesus to be crucified, even if it means the release of Barrabas. Pliate is astonished and asks them again if they really realize what they're saying. The crowd continues to push for crucifixion, and as a riot begins, Pilate finally agrees to the crowd's demands. So there you go. "The Passion of the Christ" shows exactly how these events unfolded. Pilate clearly does not want to put Jesus on the cross, but does so when he realizes it's the only thing that he could do to protect himself.
 21.
there really is no story to Passion. It's really just two straight hours of violence, right?
After having seen the movie on Tuesday, I can say that that is entirely incorrect. I wouldn't have been able to watch this movie had it been nothing but two hours of violence. Gibson skillfully broke all the violent scenes up; just when I felt I couldn't take another second of watching Jesus being beaten to death, it would cut away to something else for awhile. Seriously, it was like a reprieve. The timing was excellent to say the least. About the story, you are pretty much correct. The story can be summed up quickly: Jesus is captured, beaten, and then crucified. There's a bit more to it than that, but that is pretty much the whole movie in a nutshell. There may not be a lot of story, but there are a lot of messages. Let me say a movie has never moved me in such a personal way as this one has, not even close. I know I have not walked away from this movie the same person as when I walked in. It really brought a lot of things home to me. About the "don't see it alone" statement, well, that's up to the individual. I didn't see this alone, but I almost would have preferred to. I needed some time to just think about the movie after it was over. But I understand that some people like to discuss these things after a movie instead, so I can see where someone would say such a thing.
 22. Maybe I wasn't six, but I have fond memories of decapitating foes in Mortal Kombat as a second grader. I don't know what age that corresponds to. But honestly, I'm not a violent person and I didn't suddenly feel it was alright to kick people's heads off just because Johnny Cage did it. If I were a parent and I had a six year old, I'm not sure I'd take him/her to The Passion of the Christ. I can't really remember being a six year old, but I know it'd probably be pretty frightening for them. I'm much older than six, but this movie was really hard to watch for me*; I imagine for such a young child it'd be even harder. Certainly, if they were 10 I'd take them, but anything before that I'm not sure. Depends on how they felt about blood and such. * as a note, it wasn't the blood that made the movie such a difficult watch.
 23.
Oh yes! There is nothing worse than a person who constantly says "like" in their speech. People even do it online too. It's one of the most frustrating aspects of communication in society today. :lecture:
Well, it's not really relevant to the main topic, but it relates to this. I noticed a lot of people make this mistake: "Me and Jake went to the park yesterday." There are two grammatical errors in this sentence: 1) Does "Me went to the park yesterday" sound right? No, of course not. Use "I" when it is the subject. 2) You never list yourself first, but instead last. It should be "Jake and I". Lots of people make this mistake really commonly and it drives me nuts. I remember these rules being pounded into us in elementary school (third grade if I recall correctly), so it's really annoying to hear them be so often neglected.
 24.
Then since we cannot remove it, can we have a skin that is just like the older versions of vB? Those were so much easier to navigate and much less cluttered.
I'm sure there are plenty of people who are willing to spend large amounts of time making a special skin just for you. In that case it wouldn't even be a skin anyway.
 25.
[B']DJ Krush
Hey, there's a familiar name. Well actually, I've only heard of this guy because he appeared as a guest on two songs by the band LUNA SEA. He added an interesting element to the sound, that's for sure. I know Transtic Nerve likes him...
